Confusion on bug

Hi..
Today, i had a conversation with a friend on patches and by the end of the conversation i was little confused.The scenario is as such
We have a production database on 10.2.0.1 , along with a DR on remote server.The remote server has only the DR, no other database on it.Few days back the archives stopped getting applied to it, with ORA-00326, ORA-00334 in the alert log.After few searches on metalink, i found that it was a bug in 10.2.0.1.So, i raised a SR and it was said that its Bug 6762914, and you need to apply patch 10.2.0.4. Now , it has been more than a month and we haven't applied the patch as no downtime is available by the client.Although we have maintained a parallel server(database) where we manually apply the archives of the production database, but thats not a good solution.
Today my friend said me that why not you again install 10.2.0.1 on the remote server, as that is the only database on that server, and then check again if the archives are getting applied or not.He says that bug in oracle means that some oracle binaries has been corrupted, and once you again install 10.2.0.1 things can go correct.Although somehow i am not satisfied by his suggestion.Will re-installing 10.2.0.1 on the DR server solve the problem.

A bug occurs (or is encountered) due to the fact that some sort of environment is not thought of by the developers and the testers (no offense meant to either). It is just not humanly possible to think of all the possible scenarios before you put your code in production/release the same.
Same applies to Oracle also. Had it been a binary corruption, Oracle should not be running at all.
Will re-installing 10.2.0.1 on the DR server solve the problem.Even if you reinstall Oracle, it is still going to be running in the same environment as it was earlier; thus it will still have the same problem.
I would suggest you schedule the downtime and apply the patches. You can, however, install the patch in a completely new home and open the database from there (but please make sure you make a complete backup in that case). Should anything go wrong, you can always restore the database from the backup and open the database from the existing home.

I'm just wondering if the BST look and feel we are seeing
since the weekend is the "final" product? If so, I'm going to need

If I try to search a Product Family>Product Name and go through all the search steps
to get to Communications Manager 9.1 and search "DRF" it seems to populate
the related bugs, which is good. But there doesn't seem to be a way to move to
Communications Manager 8.6, or any other, without going through the whole process
again. My understanding was that one of the main points of the new version of BST
was the ability to move between version releases seamlessly??
If I just put Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CallManager) in the Product Name
box then 44,335 bugs are displayed and the Releases box is grayed out so I can't define
a specific version
Maybe I'm just missing something here which would be no surprise.

4215 IPS 5.x analysis engine woes

I've got about 20 4215's that i'm upgrading from 4.1 to 5.x
Like everyone else I've had nothing but problems with the 5.1x (analysis engine just stops running)
I've tried upgrading using a brand new image, using both the 5.0(1) and 5.0(2) images. However, with both of those I get the following errors:

What's the deal with this? It sometimes takes several resets just to work. Sometimes I have to wait 10 minutes. Sometimes it just doesn't work at all. I can't even upgrade to 5.0(6) or anything because, you guessed it, my analysis engine is busy.
Does it normally take that long for it to allow me to make changes? Anybody have any ideas?

After a re-image there will always be a period of time when the Analysis Engine is busy.
The Analysis Engine can take up to about 30 minutes on a low end sensor like the IDS-4215 to completely initialize itself.
It takes all of the regular expression signatures and will compile the regular expressions together into what you can consider one giant regular expression. It was what we call a regular expression cache file.
The creation of the regular expression cache file was speeded up as part of a bug fix in the 5.0(6) Service Pack.
So what to do:
After you do a re-image of the sensor just let it sit for 20 to 30 minutes. Then execute "iplog-status". If it tells you analaysisEngine is busy then keep waiting. It is tells you No Ip Logs are available then it is ready to go. (Any other command that queries the AnalysisEngine would work as well) This way you can also check the Analysis Engine status before going through and typing up all of the config changes.
Resetting the sensor while the Analsysis Engine is busy just prolongs the initialization, the Analysis Engine will have to redo some of the intialization.
My recommendation for versions right now is to load 5.0(1) or 5.0(2) base image. Wait for 20 to 30 minutes till Analysis Engine is responding, then load the 5.0(6) Service Pack. When you load the 5.0(6) Service Pack there will once again be a big jump in signatures so there will be another initialization period.
Once that initialization is done, then load the latest Signature Update.
As for version 5.1(1) there are some known issues that cause Analysis Engine to stop Running. Don't confuse these bugs with the standard initialization time for Analysis Engine. Analysis Engine veing busy is normal and expected after a re-image or upgrade, an Analysis Engine "Not Running" is a bug.
If you are seeing "Not Running" for Analysis Engine when executing "show version" then please contact the TAC. There is a engineering patch for some of these issues, but it does requiring running special engineering builds that are in the process of going through testing.
Cisco is working on these issues and will be releasing an official update as soon as the fixes have been fully tested at Cisco.
Until those 5.1(1) issues are addressed, your options would be to contact the TAC and possibly obtain the special engineering build, or downgrade to the 5.0(6) version as mentioned above.

Next "Find" result not in the centre of the window

After upgraded to 14.0.1, I find the next search result (either by "alt + N" or "ctrl+G", no longer appear in the center of the window. This feature in version 13 was very helpful for me. It allows me to have my eyes concentrating on the center of the screen, where the next search result would show up. Please recover the feature!!

If subsequent results are on the same window then the page isn't scrolled to center the result, but merely the next result gets highlighted to prevent confusion.

I solved my problem,
Definitely a bug in syncing through itunes.
- Connect Iphone with MacBook Pro through USB
- Go to iphone on itunes, photos, deselect photo synchronization.
- Sync (all pics will be removed from iphone)
- Close itunes, iphoto, disconnect iphone
- Select in finder: (home)-pictures-iphoto library.
- Sec click on iphoto library and choose "show package contents"
- Delete iPod Photo Cache
- Close finder
- Empty trash
- Reconnect iphone
- Allow photo synchronization again and everything works smooth.
After this, changes made in iphoto are instantaneously reflected in iphone photos.
Once every hundred photos, one gets detached from iphoto and then changes are no longer reflected (buggy) :-(
In this case I erase the photo in iphoto, sync, go back to iphoto trash, reestablish the photo from the trash and sync again.
Hope this improves. Still have to try cloud though.

New bug in 8.02 - regions confused with each other

So, I just updated to 8.02, and loaded up a recent project that was half finished (bad idea).
Now I have some strange bugs going on that I never had before, and they are basic issues.
My audio regions keep getting confused with each other.
I have an audio region that I can't open in the sample editor. When I double click on it, the sample editor will bring up the last region I edited, not the new one. I've re-named the region, deleted it and re-added it to the arrange window, but this region will not open in the sample editor.
I can see it in my media bin, and preview it there, and it plays in my arrangement no problem, but I can't get it to open in the sample editor. In fact sometimes when I click on it, with the media window open, I can see another sample being 'selected' in the media window instead of the proper audio region.

yes here the same, bug new in 8.0.1, cause on logic 8.0.0 all works fine (except some click noise when you pre-listen a file in autoloop)
however here what i can say to you (it's 3 days i'm studyng this cause i make a massive use of ultrabeat)

XML NameSpace Issue Confused whether it is a bug

The issue is that the generated XML and Actual XML vary as the following: -
The namespace which is used in the Actual XML is globally used and whereas In the generated XML It is used locally wherever the corresponding element or type is used in the XML Actually, which should not happen.
I am confused whether it is a bug or an issue if this is an issue can somebody please suggest me a solution

This bug has been fixed in the C++ 5.6 compiler. I'm not sure if the fix is in the first patch which is about to be released. If not, the fix definitely will be in the next patch.
The workaround is not to use
using namespace std;That using-declaration is a pretty big hammer, and often results in conflicts with user code, compiler bugs aside.

Confused after reading bug report

I'm working on a desktop application which utilizes the system tray. I have an icon set with a popup menu that is triggered when the user left-clicks on the icon. Originally I was using java.awt.PopupMenu but then came across javax.swing.JPopupMenu which looks a little nicer and has support for icons. For the most part it works great. However I noticed that when the user triggers the popup menu more than once (i.e. the user left-clicks the tray icon twice or more times), a ClassCastException is thrown. After doing a bit of searching, I came across [this bug report|http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6583251] and many others describing the issue I was having.
According to the report, the evaluation is:

I mean, it does sort of let me know where the problem is happening (in the MouseListener portion of my Tray Menu where I am trying to detect the popup trigger), but I don't understand if this means that there is a way to prevent this from happening or not.
In other words, I think the bug is coming from this block of code (correct me if I am mistaken):

Reset Messages: My confusion or is it a bug?

It seems that when I stop playback, Logic sets CC1 and CC4 (I assume all the other CCs, too) to 0 -- except CC7.
I can stop this behavior by checking the "No Reset" box on that channel, but why do I need to do this when I don't have anything checked off in Preferences:MIDI:Reset Messages?

Yeah, I think it has to be a bug. But I'm surprised I haven't seen any mention of it on the Interweb.
I did try CC1 and it had the same behavior, but now that you mention it, that may have been a bad choice for a second test on this problem. I'm going to try some random CC number.
Automation is no good, because the idea is that these multi-timbral parts should be playable at any time, at any volume according to a volume pedal.
I'm a technical assistant to a working composer -- he and his other composer friends are always working their volume pedals, and recording it in their MIDI regions, and I've learned by watching them that there is no other way. But when you get an instrument like Omnisphere which can kill your system with enough instances, you have to go multi-timbral, and the volume pedal at CC7 becomes a problem. Or in other words, if you make music, you should really be using a volume pedal!
I will try another CC number, but as I mentioned, hitting No Reset -- I think -- will solve the problem. It just seems strange that:
a) there's a whole page of checkmarks in the preferences that do nothing
b) nobody's noticed
and
c) nobody uses a volume pedal (with multi-timbral instruments)

Really interesting bizarre bug in TreePath, I'm confused beyond belief

Inside a large program, in which I use custom TreeModel instead of DefaultMutableTreeNode's etc, I have a following method which needs to recurse up a TreePath.
This seems to be a MAJOR bug, because if you look in the following ten lines, I verify several times that the argument is non-null (and even return early if it is).
However, at the line "while( ... )" it throws a NullPointerException! What, is the keyword "while" null ???!?!?! Because we know that tp is NOT null.
We also know that we can call "tp.getPathCount()" because I do so and even print it out!#
If you have any thoughts, please CC to [email protected], because at the moment I'm sure Sun will refuse a bug report (without more info) and I doubt I can make a small program that demonstrates this - otherwise surely it would have been found before!

Oh dear. After prolonged testing, I realised the problem: when the TreePath is the root, it returns null as parent , which happens just before I do the test as to whether to carry on - I had originally put the test just before that, but had moved it to just afterwards, thereby causing the problem!
Very foolish, really.

I copied all your code and executed ,its working file there is nothing wrong .
But the problem is, as you are using cache ,some times it will skip 20 nos .

CFForm/CFInput Bug or confusion?

I have a simple potluck form that I'm useing to learn the ins
and outs of cfform
with HTML and Flash
With flash I need to omit he Submit field from the FormFields
list to get the CFinput to work.
I don't if I use HTML. Below the order of names changes even
though all I change is the Format. Is this a bug or is something
not set up correctly on my server.
