Connect caught listing registry?

I ctrl-c'd my running RMI server and, as expected, cannot create a new registry on this port.
However, I created a small test app to attempt to 're-attach' to the registry:
try {
     /* does one already exist? */
serverRegistry = LocateRegistry.getRegistry("localhost");
System.out.println ("\n\nReturn from locateReg = " + serverRegistry + " \n\n");
try {
/* show names bound in registry */
     serverRegistry.list();
LocateRegistry succeeds in returning a Registry object.
However, serverRegistry.list() throws the following exception:
Exception java.rmi.ConnectException: Connection refused to host: localhost; nested exception is:
java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect caught listing registry
I've probably oversimplified what needs to be done to regain access to the server, but does anyone know what's going on here?

LocateRegistry.getRegistry() merely gives you a client stub to the registry. Because the registry uses a well-known remote ID, this call will always succeed and by itself does not guarantee that the registry is up and running. You need to execute an actual registry API call to make sure [and list() is a good choice, for example].
Is your registry embedded into the server VM or running in a separate process [rmiregistry.exe]?

  • Event 31901 – The registry probe could not connect to the registry of the computer name

    Hi, I have been doing a weekly SQL query to try and find any high number of events I get in my SCOM environment.
    One of the events I have stumbled across is 31901 (“The registry probe could not connect to the registry of the computer <name>”) which comes from the “Collect Registry Probe Module Events”
    I have read a couple of previous suggestions on the forum and upon checking I found two different scenarios. For a couple of servers I checked the health and it looked like they had RPC issues. A restart got rid of these problems.
    However the ones left seem to have something in common. They relate to hosts referring to SQL “instances/clusters”. So the “logging computer” is the host and the probe cannot to the registry of the “virtual computer”. In other words the computers that can’t
    be connected to are all agentless and show as managed by the logging computer under “Agentless Managed”
    If I log onto the host with my SCOM action account and run something like “reg query” against the virtual “instance” I get “ERROR: The network path was not found”. I can ping the instance fine though. I don’t really understand how these instances work but
    I presume they don’t have services or a registry as such. Therefore is this normal or is there any way I can get rid of the events? I don’t really want to get rid of the rule itself as it did help me find a couple of RPC issues. I could override for that host
    if this is “normal” and how it should work.

  • WRVS4400N - Increasing the number of Wireless Clients in Connection Control List

    There's a limit of 20 MAC address that i can add to the Connection Control list on the WRVS4400N.
    Is there a way to increase that list?
    We're growing quicker than expected and need more than 20 client access now.
    Thanks.
    Sean.
    Message Edited by seanchua on 05-06-2008 09:54 PM

    Appologies for resurrecting an old thread, but I have this exact question and can't find a definitive answer.
    Is there a maximum number of wireless connections for the WRVS4400N?
    We're using this for a church and see about 200 people come through on a weekend and the goal is to provide a connection on an open SSID to all of them, while the speed doesn't really matter, but the fact that they can get a connection does. At some point every sunday we see the connection drop, although users can get IP addressess from the DHCP on the router.
    I tried the following:
    Changed wireless channel from 1 to Auto
    Change band from b/g/n b/g
    Disabled IPS
    increased lease count from 50 to 250
    decreased lease time from 1 day to 2 hours
    If there's some hard coded maximum, then perhaps this router just isn't the right one for this establishment. Thoughts?

  • Unable to "Connect" and "Browse Registry" on systems running Windows 7 or later when creating applications

    I'm setting up an application deployment in SCCM that needs to use the existence of a specific registry key as its detection method. When I choose this option I am presented with a button that allows me to connect to a machine and browe its local registry
    to add the key in question, like so:
    This feature works great on all our Windows XP/2003 machines. But if I try to Connect to anything Windows 7 or later I get the following error:
    Since it works on older machines I'm thinking I just need to change some configuration setting somewhere to get it working for Windows 7 or later. Is anyone else experiencing this issue and (if so) is there a fix?

  • IDT BICS Connection Slow Listing Infoareas

    Hi,
         We are having an issue when we create a BICS connection and trying to browse to select a query it takes a long time to list infoareas, cubes, and queries. Our environment is BO4 SP6P1 against SAP BW 7.3. When we use the search feature to find a query it never completes. Is anyone else seeing this? Does anyone know the workflow of servers that are used to list this information? Do the DSL service or Tomcat come into play?

    Hi
    I suspect it's related to network issue...If possible check with other regins users also have same issue.
    if you increse bandwidth speed ...it may take less time.

  • Powershell to connect to network registry - via regedit.exe

    Hi,
    I've done some google searches for my query but not really having much luck so what I am asking might not exist. My current script starts the remoteregistry service on the machine you manually put in and then opens a regedit window for you to manually add
    the machine to access its registry files.
    I was wondering if there was a switch in powershell I could use to automatically open the regedit window with the machine connected.
    something like:
    Start-Process -filepath "c:\windows\regedit.exe" -ArgumentList ......
    If you need an example of what I mean. You can see in regedit under FILE you can connect to a network registry.
    Regards
    If this is helpful please mark it so. Also if this solved your problem mark as answer.

    Based on what I'm finding, the answer looks to be no.

  • ASCII Mode Connection & FTP LIST command

    Hi All,
    I want to realize a simple Java FTP Client. At the beginning I tought to write a dir/file listing method, but I have no less difficulties to do it.
    As RFC says LIST is the appropriate command to be implemented.
    As I read RFC I should to open an ASCII Mode Connection but I don't know How.
    Connecting some ftp Server and sending it a "LIST" command I receive these replyes:
    331 User name okay, need password.
    230 User logged in, proceed.
    150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for /bin/ls.
    426 Data connection closed, transfer aborted.
    So, after 150 I should receive directory content, but it doesn't work. On the other side, if I want to send "HELP" command, using readLine() method I can display all reply from server.
    How can I make directory listing for my FTP Client?
    Thanks a lot...

    I prefer fireftp, but yea thats what I use to do any sort of ftp with the crio. At the time I was testing it I was able to log onto the ftp server of the crio, list directory and do get and put operations. Good to hear its working fine for you though.
    Looks like the device is having problems now (has become completely unresponsive) and is deployed 350 miles from here so we have some new problems to deal with. Maybe it was the device, I am not sure but I guess this is on hold until the device is back up.
    [will work for kudos]

  • Internet toolkit problem - growing Active Connections list

    When I built executables with G Web Server, sometimes, the list of active connections start to grow and whole system seems to stop responding for CGI calls.
    Does anybody know what could be the reason.
    Thanks in advance
    Pawel

    OK, I found it. The main part of top vi must be enclosed in a "while loop" as it is done in all Internet Toolkit examples. Then the problem is gone. I guess it is connected with the way how G web server talkes to the "CGI read request.vi".

  • My Thunderbolt connections are listed as inactive, they cannot see my LaCie raid for backup.

    I just updated to Yosemite and now I no longer have access to my Thunderbolt ports. They are both listed as "Inactive". How can I reactivate them so I can back up my Mac? I now have to find my USB 3.0 cable to hook up to the drive. I'd rather use the Thunderbolt connection.

    Hi kedamono,
    If you are having an issue with connection to your Thunderbolt devices from your iMac, I would suggest resetting the iMac's parameter RAM. Follow the directions in this article -

    Note that while the article title is for Mavericks, the procedure is the same for Yosemite.

  • WS-I test tool - monitor config to connect to IBM registry gives problems

    hi,
    We have developed UDDI Registry provider implementing JAXR APIs. We want to test it for interoperability using WS-I test tools.
    I have downloaded and run monitor and analyzer tools of WS-I. Thing is when I try to use IBM public registry (UDDI), I am not able to configure it properly in monitorConfig.xml file provided by WS-I test tools.
    I am doing something like this:
    <wsi-monConfig:redirect>
    <wsi-monConfig:comment>JAXR HTTP Listner.</wsi-monConfig:comment>
    <wsi-monConfig:listenPort>8090</wsi-monConfig:listenPort>
    <wsi-monConfig:schemeAndHostPort>http://uddi.ibm.com</wsi-monConfig:schemeAndHostPort>
    <wsi-monConfig:maxConnections>1000</wsi-monConfig:maxConnections>
    <wsi-monConfig:readTimeoutSeconds>30</wsi-monConfig:readTimeoutSeconds>
    </wsi-monConfig:redirect>
    If any one has any idea regarding the same, please guide me.
    thanks & regards,
    - Gunjan

    <wsi-monConfig:schemeAndHostPort>http://uddi.ibm.com</wsi-monConfig:schemeAndHostPort> should specify host and port. In your case, it is specifying the host only. Also, you need to make sure your proxy host & port are set correctly in your monitor script.

  • Connected devices list

    My M10 shows as being connceted to 5 devices but ddoes not tell me what those devices are.  How can  find the list and make changes if necessary?
    Also,  noticed on one of the discussions that one can download the latest sofware.  Am I correct that my device is version 1.0?

    Did you install the cisco connect software? Is that where you see the 5 devices connected to your network? The only way to check what devices are connected to the network are to either manually check what devices you have connected wired or wirelessly with the router. Or you may also access the router page and check through the DHCP client's table what devices are connected. If you did install cisco connect, you may access the router page by going to > Router Settings > Other options > Advanced Settings. Then go status > local network > DHCP client's table. And while you are on the status tab, check the firmware version.

  • WebDispatcher to PI connectivity check list

    Hi Experts,
    There is a requirement where in SAP-PI is exposing web services to outsiders and for them to be able to access our webservices in a secured manner ,Web dispatcher has been used in between PI and outside partner .
    The problem here is that web service is working fine with SOAP UI environment as http request .But when Partners are trying to access via https they face difficulties .The SSL certificates have already been validated and the partner is able to enter into our network. But not able to access the webservices.
    Can anybody tell me what are the details to be shared with basis people apart from SOAP URL ? Do they(Basis) require WSDL also ? Please tell me check list of configuring web dispatcher for this requirement .
    Format of URL shared is
    https:// hostname:8020/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?channel=NetworkPartners:NP_WO_BS:NP_WODetails_Sender_CC&version=3.0&Sender.Service=&Interface=%5E*
    and this is working fine in SOAP UI.
    Thanks,
    Amar

    Hi Amar,
    We had the same scenario.  A ticket was opened with SAP with this reply:

    Which documentation exactly are you using to build this enviroment? The SOAP protocol is not supported by web dispatcher. Take a look in the documentation.

  • Can I access connect to UDDIv3 registry?

    Hi,
    I am trying to connect private uddiv3 server to JDev. But it seems to be using v2 requests. Can I connect a uddi server which only provides v3 access?.
    regards,
    Jebastin Prabaharan.S.

    First, you must understand that while the OS on the install disc is the same version as the one it installs, it is not a full-featured version of it, in part because it is running from read-only media. This means you won't have such things as network configuration files or stored network passwords to rely on, or even a Finder to give you a GUI (graphic user interface) into file systems & shared servers.
    What you do have is the utility apps in the "Utilities" menu item, including Terminal, the CLI (command line interface) equivalent of Finder. I won't say it is impossible to access file systems & shared servers through Terminal to do what you want, but it would not be easy & would take a lot of care & skill to get everything right & done in the right order.
    Instead, you could use FireWire target disk mode if you have another Mac to be the host to copy files from the affected Mac's internal drive to another drive as a backup, use your Time Machine backup (if you have one) to restore your Mac to a prior state, or (probably simplest of all) use your Snow Leopard installer disk to run the installer again. The new SL installer is "smart" & will do the equivalent of an Archive & Install, but without the old Previous Systems folder or reverting the OS version to 10.6.
