Connect Macbook (1st Gen) sound output to Plasma TV

Hello,
i have the appropriate connections to hook up my video output on my macbook onto my plasma. but now im trying to figure out how to connect the sound from my macbook to the tv. i have a plasma tv and has an optical input or whatever. does anyone know how to appropriately hook up the sound. could someone provide pictures of the certain wire i would need to do this? thanks.
i have the first generation macbook with the 3.5 headphones input and the other optical input im not sure what its used for.

hey, sorry i havent been on here for awhile. nah i havent gotten an answer yet. i bought different cords such as toslink to mini and a rca to 3.5 headphone jack and neither of them worked. the only time it actually worked is using a separate sound system, but i want the sound to come out of the tv speakers. if you find anything let me know please. thanks.

In order to print from an iOS device, the printer must be AirPrint-enabled. If it is not, you have a number of options to still do so. One of them is PrintCentral.

  • Yosemite is messing with my new Retina Macbook Pro's sound output, help.

I just got my new Retina Macbook Pro 2 months ago and have been noticing some audio output issues. When I try to connect an external third-party audio device to run my KRK monitors my computer does not recognize the device and will not switch the audio output. After trying to set it manually my macbook won't even revert to the internal speakers for output and then I have to reboot my pro in order to get audio output again. This will happen randomly throughout the day after my computer has been in sleep as well, and sometimes the volume buttons get greyed out as well. Please help me with this issue as this is a new computer and it is becoming a nuisance. Even when connecting through HDMI, my audio output does not function and no sound will come out of the TV. I realize that this is probably a Yosemite glitch, but I just need to know if there is any fixes for this issue. Thanks so much for your time,

  • WD 750GB in MacBook 1st gen. Is it possible?

    Hello friends,
I'm just about to upgrade the original HDD from my MacBook 1st generation and I'm a little confused with the options I got. I looked over the web and found a Western Digital 750GB 2,5" 5400 rpm that looks like it would fit (9,5 mm). Here is the link to WD web page http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.asp?driveid=815. Is this option right for a MacBook 1? I surf the web trying to find some pieces of information from Mac users of this drive but I couldn't get any help. Can you give a hand??? I would really appreciate.

Yes it will fit. The only problem that I see is a conflict between the ShockGuard on the drive and SMS (Sudden Motion Sensor) built into the MacBook. If it becomes an issue, the SMS can be disabled.

  • Connect Macbook PRO house sound system via IPOD adaptor

I want to connect my Macbook PRO via USB to IPod dock adaptor on whole house sound system w/IPOD adaptor. Any suggestions for adaptors with USB to IPOD-like port?  In other words one end of the cable needs USB (for Mac) and the other needs to look the internal mating part of the IPOD.

My goal was to stream Pandora
So either get Pandora for iPhone or iPod Touch and dispense with the MBP, or get AirPhones and stream from the MBP to the system via iPod.
Your primary problem is not finding a cable, but finding a hardware or software device that will make the MPB behave like an iPod, which is quite a different kettle of fish.
If you're not tied to the dock, then check your system's audio inputs. You could connect your MBP to it, or you could get AirPort Express with AirPlay for w/less streaming.

  • MacBook 1st Gen Core Duo

What is the max hard drive / RPM that I can put into my first gen core duo macbook machine? I think the hitatchi drive I put in is starting to go bad, and I'm not a fan of hitatchi anyway. Thanks!

Now I'm not sure if I should post this in this thread or start a new one, but I'm actually trying to narrow down the problem before I go buying a new HDD.
Lately I have been hearing an unhappy grinding sound coming out of my laptop and it was just horrible this morning when I woke it up from sleep mode over night. I'm not sure if it is my fan or hdd because when my hdd starts going (videos, etc) the fan kicks on and does its thing.
Does anyone have any suggestions of how I might be able to try and narrow down if it is my fan or hard drive? Thanks!

  • Retina Macbook using iMac sound output?

Hi I'm currently using a thunderbolt display with my retina macbook pro. I'm thinking about getting an iMac instead of the thunderbolt display.
I know you can use the iMac as a secondary display for the rMBP just like the 27" thunderbolt display. But my  question is can I use
the iMac's headphone output on my RMBP through thunderbolt? I think this would be really convenient, hope my question makes sense
Basically I want to have my iMac hooked up to a pair of speakers. But I want to be able to play music through these speakers from my
retina macbook pro via thunderbolt and the iMac.
Just want to make sure this is possible before I purchase. Anyone know if I can do this?
    Thank you!

I don't know - I have a Thunderbolt Display but not an iMac...
You may want to post in the iMac forum...
    Sorry,

  • Cost(s) to replace 13" macbook 1st-gen

    Hello fellow apple'ers,
My Macbook 13" 1st-generation(model A1181), has a cracked screen and I am in dire need of a replacement one. How much will it cost to get it repaired via Apple Store? Could I DIY-it and buy a replacement screen?

Try looking at ifixit.com, which is the recommended DIY supply shop around these parts. For what Apple charges to do an out-of-warranty repair of this magnitude, it would be easier to just buy a new Mac, but you could try a local authorized service provider who might be cheaper. Search here:

  • MacBook (1st Gen) Freezes and Loud Fan

Hello. I have been using my 1st-generation MacBook (1.83GHz Intel Core Duo processor, 2GB RAM) every day since I bought it back in July 2006. I replaced the hard drive (which I upgraded about 1.5 years ago; it was a 320GB 7200RPM drive) a little over a month ago when it failed. After replacing the hard drive with another 320GB 7200RPM drive, things continued to work fine for a while. However, I notice a few things. For one, sometimes when the fan turns on, I sometimes hear loud crackling noises (it's hard to describe; sometimes it feels like there is a turbine inside of my computer). Secondly, sometimes when the computer is sleeping, the fan is on full blast and I am unable to wake it up; I'm forced to power it off. Finally, I occasionally notice some random freezes. I could be using the computer, and then suddenly the mouse pointer won't move, pressing buttons on the keyboard do not result in any actions, and the display doesn't change. I haven't had this problem before.
I wonder what is wrong. Could it be that my computer is aging (it will be five years old in July), or is there some other underlying reason (it might give a clue to the hard disk failure that occurred last month).

    Welcome to Apple Discussions...
I would start with the Apple Hardware Test (AHT)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509
....see if it finds anything wrong....remember it needs to be run off install DVD1 that came with your MacBook...run the extended set of tests...
Since several symptoms seem to be power related an (SMC) reset might sort things out...

Also try running the MacBook without the battery....run it on the A/C adapter

  • Nano Connection Problem (1st Gen)

Hey, everything was going well, then suddenly my iPod nano was no longer recognized by my computer. It is not recognized by iTunes or Windows. When I plug it into my computer USB, nothing happens. It doesnt even start to charge. I have to plug it into my addapter to charge it. I also tried plugging it into a different computer and same thing...not recognized. I followed the 5 Rs and such other steps but nothing helped. Can someone please help? Any option suggestions? (It has been under 1 year since i bought my iPod but i lost me receit )
    Thanks

Have you tried resetting the Nano will it still connected to your PC running Vista? Didn't the 6G Nano come with it's own cable?  If so, try using that one.  Of course, the iPod Classic sync cable should work just fine, but it's just a bit of troubleshooting, so try it if you can.
Otherwise, also try shutting down your PC completely, booting it back up, opening iTunes, and then connecting your iPod Nano.  Any luck there?

  • Hardware to connect a 1st gen iPod to iMac?

I just dug up our old iPod 10-gig (2002-ish) for my kid to play with. The cable looks like like FireWire connectors on both ends. One end I plug into the power adapter the other end goes into the iPod. So far so good. Now I need to connect the thing to my iMac/iTunes and for the life of me I can't recall if I need a USB adapter that converts one end of that cable to USB? Can someone refresh my memory and maybe even suggest a place where I can buy that datapter?
    Thanks!

Did you check the online Apple store's refurb listing?
From the main Store tab, scroll down & click the 'Save' tag on the right. These are Apple certified refurbs.
Might be a good place to start.
    Good luck.
    Cheers!

  • Syncing Documents between MacBook & 1st gen iPad

Is there any way for me to access documents on my MacBook Pro on my first generation iPad?
My MacBook came with the Preview program that allows you save highlighting...is there a similar app for iPad?

There are many PDF apps in the App Store to pick from. Probably the one that I see most recommended here is called GoodReader. That one is supposed to be one of the most robust, full featured, PDF apps from what I have read. You can check it out here.
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/goodreader-for-ipad/id363448914?mt=8
For my needs, and because it is free, I use Adobe Reader. It offers many features, fillable form fields, highlights, notes, renaming documents, grouping in folders, adding your signature ....and like I said .... It's free.
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/adobe-reader/id469337564?mt=8
Both of these apps work with iOS file sharing and I think that GoodReader might work with iCloud. The only apps that I know for sure that work with iCloud are the Apple iWorks apps. You would have to check that out to be sure.
If you are not familiar with file sharing, you can check it out here.

  • Taking Macbook (1st gen) for Superdrive servicing.

I upgraded the Superdrive firmware on my Macbook several months ago. After my Macbook's Superdrive ceased functioning I deleted the firmware but the Superdrive still is dead.
My Apple warrenty ended in June '07. I did not buy the extended warrenty for it.
My question: how much would it cost me to get my Macbook serviced and Superdrive replace.
I regret not buying the Applecare...

    Hi Eduardo,
Here is one of third party service center for your comparison:

  • Recently played list not updating in when connecting my 1st gen iPod Nano

My Recently played list in iTunes will not show any songs recently played songs in my Nano.
Why? How do I fix that?
I've "repaired" iTunes, and updated my iPod to the lastest version.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hello lakersfan44,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
First of all, I am assuming this smart playlist is still available and viewable from within iTunes correct?
Have you made sure your iPod is properly configured to sync playlists?

I have a panasonic plasma also (TCP42S1) & macbook. Have the miniDVI to HDMI & HDMI cable in to the "HDMI 1" input of the plasma. But that's just the video, works fine. Audio? Could do the audio to another "input" of the plasma.
Need to somehow get the audio out of the macbook incorporated with the video from the MiniDVI out. Monoprice sells this "Mini Displayport Male and USB Male Audio to HDMI Female Converting Adapter" ??
