I hava a button in my window frame. How am i able to connect to a certain website eg. www.google.com using the button?

What if i want to display the webite in a separate IE

Almost certainly none of the above! Try each of the following in this order:
Select 'Reset Safari' from the Safari menu.
Close down Safari; move <home>/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db to the trash; restart Safari.
Change the DNS servers in your network settings to use the OpenDNS servers: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
Turn off DNS pre-fetching by entering the following command in Terminal and restarting Safari:
defaults write com.apple.safari WebKitDNSPrefetchingEnabled -boolean false

Connecting to a website and reading from a file

Hi all.
I want to be able to connect to a website of my choosing (what class will i need to import of this?) and then read from a txt file. The text file will look like this:

So i first want to read the string in and then the integer. Any idea how to do this?

Connecting to a website with default browser

Hi I am kind of new to Java, anyway I have written an application that displays information from a database in a table. I wanted to be able to right click on a particular entry and then connect to a website based on the key field. Does anyone know how to start the the users default browser, from within my application (eg netscape) and then connect to the specified site

You might want to take a look at BrowserLauncher. It is a much better method than runtime.exec.
I dont have the link to the site with me, but search at Google for BrowserLauncher, you should get the link.
I think it is also registered at sourceforge.

What happens (or can happen) when connecting to a website from a pdf file?

(Part of this post was copied from a question I posted earlier, to which I received two correct answers)
I'm working with WIndows 7 Home Edition. I downloaded a pattern in pdf. One of the first times I had the document open, I saw a little message, asking me to allow the document with the website it came from. At that time I didn't want that to happen so I answered 'do not allow' (or words to that effect).
I'm working with Windows 7 HE, Adobe Reader v.10.1.1
I have now changed my 'do not allow' to 'allow' so the pdf file can connect with the website I downloaded it from. But I'm curious: what is or could be the purpose of that connection? Anything I have to be worried about? And from whom does that request come? The Adobe pdf file, or the website where I downloaded it from?

I understand the three points you explaned. It is just hard to apply them to the kind of pdf file I am referring to. But I don't know anything about adobe reader, and that may very well be the reason for my lack of understanding.
The file is an explanation, a pattern of a craft project, with extensive drawings to help understanding the directions. The website has many patterns (all pdf files) of the very same kind available.
I believe I understand your explanation, but again, it is hard to imagine why a simple pdf file like the one we're talking about would need to connect with the website it came from. But then again, I know NOTHING about pdf files.
So, in my simple mind, I felt I had to deny permission to connect which I have now made possible again. It's annoying to see something like this happen and not have a CLUE what it is about

Safari no longer connects to any website other than FaceBook

2009 iMac: After loading updates for Safari (7.0.4), OS X Mavericks (10.9.3), and iTunes (11.2.2), Safari will no longer connect to any website other than FaceBook. Chrome fares no better.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Suddenly can't connect to certain websites

This week I discovered that I am unable to connect to several websites I am accustomed to visiting frequently. These are not 404 errors. Safari and Firefox both give me the message that they "can't connect to the server," and Netscape says the "connection was not accepted." The problem websites I discoverd so far are nytimes.com, daypop.com, democracynow.org
I had monkeyed with some of my system settings including activating the firewall which I deactivated with no better results. I cannot remember if there
was anything else I did which could affect the web connections. I repaired permissions just in case--no change. It was suggested that I make one of the problem sites my home page on Safari--that did no good.
I sent a message to the NY Times via webmast@nytimes. com asking if there was some reason I should suddenly have a problem connecting--it didn't get spit back at me, but it has yet to be answered.
Out of ideas as to what else to try. Any help out there?

Uh-oh. Very bad that so far NO ONE has any idea how to help. I've put up the question on a couple of Mac site forums which got me to the Network Utility. I tried using it but for the most part can't interpret the results. If posting them will enlighten anyone, I'd be glad to do that.
Someone suggested that I needed to use a different DNS. Now I'm into territory I don't really understand. I went to my ISP's support website and found the addresses of the primary and secondary DNS. My TCP/IP settings didn't require that I input any DNS address, but armed with them, I entered the secondary address and tried to connect again, but no luck.

Problem connecting to one website, tracert shows timeout at 7 & 8

Hi all, So I am having issues connecting to one website. Everytime I run tracert it shows a similar timeout. I am not sure what is causing this. My web browsing otherwise is great. Hi, Thanks for the reply. I've tried contacting the host and they are telling me it's an issue with my isp. I can access the website with no problems from other devices just not on my pc when I go through my comcast connection. I have been having this issue for a few days now. I will try to contact the host again. Is there anything I can do to prove that it is an issue with the host? Thanks

Firefox would open on Vista but would not connect with any website. I had to download Firefox again using IE in order for it to function. What's going on?

You do not have the properties in the Bookmarks Manager (Library), but you should have it if you right-click a bookmark the Bookmarks Toolbar or in the bookmarks sidebar.
On Mac you probably do not have it if you right-click an item in the Bookmarks menu (this menu is under control of the Mac OS), but I assume that this should work if you click the "Show your bookmarks" button on the Navigation Toolbar that is next to the star to bookmark the current tab and right-click an item in the bookmarks list that opens.

Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
Release the Buttons...
If no joy...
Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.
For Safari... Settings > Safari > Clear History Data & Cookies

Issue with connecting to 1 website

I hope someone can help me resolve this issue
I'm having issues connecting to a website ( www.soccermanager.com ) via BT. It worked fine 2 days ago but not worked since. I can connect to it from my work pc, my iphone ( three 3g ) and my work blackberry ( vodafone ), but if I turn on wifi on either my iphone or blackberry and use my bt network it doesn't work. Site is definitely up but not working on my BT connection. I have also tried my work laptop via my home BT and it doesn't work either, so hopefully also ruling out a PC related issue.
I can ping the server and get the same ip address as I do at work, so isn't a DNS issue ( even though I have also tried OpenDNS just in case ). When I run a tracert on it eventually times out at the 17th hop, the last hop before timeout was:

Any ideas or suggestions of what's wrong ?

An automated update has rendered my laptop Firefox browser unable to connect to any websites, how do I fix this issue?

When the update for my browser took place, on 5/5/14 @ approximately 12:15 am, it rendered the browser unable to connect to any websites. It does work in safe mode, but not in regular mode. I am on an hp pavilion dv7, running windows 7. I need to resolve this issue ASAP. Or I will have to switch browsers, which I don't want to do, as I have used Firefox for many years. Repeatedly connecting to certain websites since using Firefox 7

I connect to a website and it displays as expected. I move my cursor to the page and it disappears, waits for the connection, connects, disappears, waits, connects, and so on.
It's only a few sites and it's only since upgrading to 7.

The new update makes it impossible for me to connect to any website

The update to Firefox 35 was made automatically when I opened the browser and now not a single website can appear. The browser says it can't connect to the website and that the "waiting delay is over". Usually I get this page when my Internet is off, but it's not, because I tried the same websites with two other browsers and it works perfectly. I want to use Firefox and not the other browsers, but now I'm stuck using the other ones because of that update. I'm on Windows 7 64 bit.
