Connect to DB Postgresql with JDBC

I try to use JDBC to connect to a DB Postgresql on the network. I tested locally(on the machine that the server Postgres run) the program and it worked correctly. But I have problem when i tested on a machine distance on the same network).
I use the url = "jdbc:postgresql://myhost/myDB"
Please help me!

Have you tried using the IP address instead of the machine name?

Maximum number of connections for MS Access with JDBC

does anyone know about the maximum no. of connections that MS Access can have with JDBC...

MS Access has not limit. It doesn't work that way.
There is certainly going to be some resource limit however, if nothing else then memory will eventually run out.

This works fine on my PC, but in the Pocket PC it gave me: java.sql.SQLException: Internal Error. This after I expanded
the jar files, 'cause before it tells me that ther is no oljdbc40 on the shared library path. I adjusted the classpath on the
registry, but i does not have any impact ... There is no file with name oljdbc40, only JARs olite40 and olitejdbc40. I installed
olitejdbcpj40.jar, and setting this library leads to the same error above.
What could be wrong? Do you have any tutorial or can you list all steps necessary to bring this working?

If you're attempting to use the ODBC API directly, have you downloaded the ODBC SDK from Microsoft? That will include some sample code, which is a great starting point. So far as I'm aware, you shouldn't need to configure anything in Borland C++ that you don't have to configure in any other C++ compiler to use ODBC.

That error code is Service Name related error.
Oracle error docs has the following
TNS-12505 TNS:listener could not resolve SID given in connect descriptor
Cause: The SID in CONNECT_DATA was not found in the listener's tables.
Action: Check to make sure that the SID specified is correct. The SIDs that are currently registered with the listener can be obtained by typing "LSNRCTL SERVICES listener_name". These SIDs correspond to SID_NAMEs in TNSNAMES.ORA, or DB_NAMES in the INIT.ORA file.

I CanÂ´t Connect in my DataBase with JDBC

I Can´t connect in my data base using JDBC 2.0 with Oracle 8i. When i try connect, the following error occurs:

Can't connect to external Oracle DB with JDBC connector

We need to connect the external Oracle DB with JDBC connector, because BI need to connect to the target Oracle. If the JDBC connector suceed, BI will create a UD which use the datasource
we create in Visual admin to connect to the external Oracle DB.

Our EP version is NW04S SP17 , OS is AIX .

Problem with JDBC ODBC connectivity

I am trying to connect to MS access database with jsp page. This is sample from my js page :

The last line gives me the follwoing error :

puneet is name of my datasource and it points to my .mbd file.
I dont have anyusername or passwords for this daatsource.
I am using Tomcat/4.1.18-LE and jdk1.4
I have also added rt.jar in the classpath

Hi pg4,
May be your dsn is not pointing to .mdb file. Check it by putting your mdb file right where your code is and then user following syntax which is called dsn-less connection. It helps you to connect to the target mdb file with out any need of dsn.

How to establish a trusted connection with JDBC for SQL SERVER 2000

Hi!I am using jdk 1.4 and eclipse 3.3.
I create a servlet in eclipse with in-build tomcat.
When I run it ,it was working perfectlly has it was suppose to work.
In this servlet I connect to a sql 2000 database using jdbc-odbc bridge driver.
But when I tried to deploy the servlet on tomcat 5.5 manully on the same machine ,it gave me error saying
[Microsoft][SQLServer JDBC Driver][SQLServer]Login failed
for user 'sa'
I searched around some post and found that ok ,I need trusted connection
But I have 2 Questions
1). Why was in eclipse I was able to connect to the SQL server and why not in the servlet which I deployed manully on tomcat.
2). How do I create a trusted connection with JDBC for SQL server 2000

What platform are you using for the database, what are you running your code on.
Which database version are you working with.. What is your class path. What version of JDBC and OCI are in the client environment, eg what are CLASSPATH and PATH / LD_LIBRARY_PATH settings. Have you tested your code using a simple IDE like Oracle's JDeveloper or run it from directly from the command line.

I know the IP, PORt, DBNAME and I'd like to connect to DB2 with my windows XP using JDCB from IBM.

Check how you configured the IP on the laptop and computers, assigned by router with DHCP feature enabled? Or configure manually? If it's assigned by wireless router, then make sure you assign big enough IP range in DHCP setting. Take a look on using ping to troubleshoot network and wireless router configuration articles to help you more..

Is the driver a part of jre package or to be installed from somewhere?

I downloaded, but don't know where and how to install or use it. Took a look at the documentation, seems it requires only to untar but something has to be pointed. I think its something simple but I am overlooking.

Access denial on connecting SQL server 2000 with Microsoft JDBC driver

I am developping a BMP invoking procedures stored in a SQL server 2000 instance on the Sun RI platform. I am using the Microsoft type 4 JDBC driver.
the connection pattern is something like
jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://ambassador:1433;User=sa;Password;DataBase=Forethought;SelectMethod=cursor
An type-like "access denied" exception is raised when trying to get the connection from the DataSource object with some code similar to :
DataSource objDS = (DataSource)objCtx.lookup("jdbc/Forethought");
Connection objConn = ds.getConnection();
I have realised a CMP to access the database and everything works fine.
It seems that the SunRI tries to get the db connection with an "impersonated " user even if i have specified the user name and password in the connection string.
Does anyone have an idea how to force the connection with SQL Server user name and password ??
