Connect vi to test stand

hai guys,
im 1st time using test stand. i duplicate the test stand from a different pc and place all the subvi in the sane location. when i open the sequence file i cannot call bak the vi. how to set the path in test stand to reconnect to the vi .
thanks,
shamaran

Hi,
When you say "duplicate", how did you achieve this?
What error messages (if any) are you getting?

  • How to test cloned VI file from Test-Stand

    Hi All,
I am having one doubt in Test - Stand.
I am having VI file which is having four controls and four indicators. I am just connecting one control with one indicator like one - one mapping. I have created connector pane for this. Say save this file as dummy1.vi.
In another VI file I have taken four controls. These controls are connected with dummy1.vi file.  Save this file with test1.vi file. Now run the test1.vi file with highlight execution on. While it is continuosly running, double click on the sub vi files. You can see different files with clone, clone1, clone2 ...etc...
Now I will pass values to test1.vi file from Test - Stand sequence step. In second step I want check the result from dummy1.vi file. But I am unable to do it.
Can anybody tell me how to achieve it?
    Regards,
    Nagaraju

    Hey NagRaj,
The reason you see the clones is because your VI is reentrant.  You can change that in the VI Properties in the Execution section.  Also, you may want to read more about that in the LabVIEW help to understand it better.
You should have no problem testing these VIs from TestStand if you set your Step result to the value you are testing against.  I've attached an image that shows how to set the outputs of your VI to the step results.  What kind of test are you doing? (i.e. NumericLimit, StringLimit, Pass/Fail etc..)
Is dummy1.VI a subvi of test1.VI?  If so do you have the output terminals of dummy1.vi connected to the output terminals of test1.vi to propogate the values back to TestStand.  This is assuming you only have one step in TestStand calling test1.vi which has dummy1.vi as a subvi.
If you want two steps where one step calls test1.vi and the other calls dummy1.vi then you have to call them seperately.  They can't be tested in the same step this way.
If this is confusing you can always post your simple example (seq and vis) and I could look and see how to better assist you.

  • Using PXI 2567 in switch exec for use in test stand

I am using a pxi 2567 card and have used a simulated ivi driver to use it in switch executive. To operate the switches from test stand I need to create routes in switch executive. Do I need simulated relays for switch exec to set endpoints, if so where can i get a simulated relay; if not please advise.

You do not need simulated relays. The channel names on the 2567 will be your "virtual" relays. Each of the 2567's 64 channels have names like COMn and CHn, where n is an index from 0 to 63.
You may create routes in NI Switch Executive (and invoke those routes in TestStand). If you do not want to create each named route, you can also use an expression to indicate what you want to have routed.
For example, support your 2567 is named "Dev1" and you wanted to connect relay 0. The syntax for the connect route specification in TestStand would look like:
    "[Dev1/com0->Dev1/ch0]"

  • How to Remove in/out port for Test Stand VI

Ok - This is probably something stupid, but i can not really find a basic example to understand what's wrong.
I just want to create a Test Stand VI, that in adition to the basic IO, use extra IOs for configuration for example. Here is what i do
1 - Create a new Pass/Fail VI from Test Stand
2 - LabVIEW start by itself, show my VI
3 - I put a basic "Not" logic, and connect the input to the logic
    4 - Save
5 - Reload the Prototype in TS, and here my new input does not shows up.
I do not believe that i can make this any simpler. Could someone explained what is wrong here.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

When you create a VI using the "Create VI" function in TS. Output ports are not connected and still shows up in TS.
I attached the simplest example in the world. What i expect to get in TS after i update the prototype is to have the same output as the initial one + an new input that allow me to control my output flag.

  • Windows Network Drive Mapping properties not being associated with Test Stand deployment

I recently upgraded a TestStand/LabVIEW (Developer Suite 2012 DS1) deployment project from a Windows XP Pro OS to Windows 7 Enterprise. Now, when I run the Test Stand deployment, Network paths that used to be hard coded into my File Globals are no longer recognized. I re-wrote the vi's, and put "File Dialog" pop-ups so that I could see what path the control is being opened up at, and what appears to be happening is the Network Drive that I am defaulted to is appearing as if it is "disconnected" in the navigation window, and the path is defaulted to my root directory. I can navigate out to my network path no problem from the navigation window, and after the first time I perform this user action, subsequent executions open up to the path I have hard coded in my Sequence File Globals. However, if I reboot my host computer, I again have to go through the exercise of manually pointing to the proper network location? If I use the Windows Explorer to check Mapped Networked Drives, everything is properly mapped and connected.
Has anyone ever seen this behavior?

    Hi ATE Dude 22,
I have not come across this problem before but here is a document from MSDN and one from NI which discuss file path conventions. From what I've seen, UNC is also accepted under Windows XP so I would advise using it for your file globals.

  • Two Test Stands, One Signal

Currently have a test stand set up with a FP-1601, FP-AI-111, and a FP-RTD-122.  For another test we would like to use 2 of the same test set-ups.  Both stands can be several feet apart.  Is there a way to link both test stands together and then have a single signal go to the PC?  I would like to avoid having to run wires from the hardware to a central data aquisition unit.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    Hi MeCoOp,
So what you'd like to have is 2 FieldPoint banks that are connected to the same test stand, but ultimately you want them both connected back to the same PC.
As you know the FP-1601 is an Ethernet controller and can be connected thru a hub to a network and from there can easily be communicated with by any other computer on the network.  In your situation you may just want to set things up similarly and then just configure both banks in the same fashion.
Once you have both of them working, then you can communicate to both in the same application.  Redundancy like this is often used with FieldPoint so that if one device stops responding the application will then begin communicating with the other device.

  • Updating the result from Labveiw to Test stand!

    Hello, I
have a quick question; i am using Labview 8.5 & Test Stand. I am
develeoping Test Scripts using Labview for the design & using them in
Teststand as PASS/FAIL tests. My question is when i run the tests in teststand
its showing that the tests what i have written in labview has been passed but
when i remove the connection to UUT & run the same its showing that tests
are passed. Actually at this time it should show that the tests are failed
since the connection to UUT is not present. But on the lab view window its showing
the proper result(that the is failed due to to bad connection) but on the test
stand window side its showing erroneous results i.e. tests are passed(i.e. the
result is not being updated from lab view to test stand window). What should I  do  to
update the result from lab veiw to testand . I have this problem from couple of
    days.
    Any help
    would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi basha,
Looking at your Sequence File and the Pass / Fail Step in MainSequence.
Although you have three connections on your VI FT_Open_Device_By_Sreial_Number.vi (one input, two outputs),
within your step, you haven't connected them to any TestStand variables.
I have attached the FileGlobals.Handle to the Handle output of your VI as an example.
You need to do something similar for Device Serial Number and FT_Status.
I am not sure where this top level vi comes in, are you hoping to replace FT_Open_Device_By_Sreial_Number.vi with this top level vi.
If you are then you need to connect on input and output to its connector pane. I would suggest the boolean result is one of the ouptut
    Which you connect to Step.Result.Pass/Fail

  • Is there a way to create a database with Test Stand?

Anyone know of a way to have Test Stand create a database? My company standard MS Office suite is Microsoft Access 2010, and TestStand does not support the .accmdb extension type(format), so I have to create new databases using old formats. I'm worried about backwards compatability down the road since good ole Microsoft doesn't seem to care about legacy formats.
I'm still a beginner with databasing, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

TestStand 2012 SP1, and  we are using a modified Generic Recordset (NI). The problem we are having right now is that the Build SQL instructions are not creating the database tables the way we are configuring them from the "Statements" and "Column/Parameters" tabs under Database Options.
What is happening is when we validate the schema, and drop all schema tables, it empties all the database tables, but then when you build using the TestStand generated sql file, we get errors(shown below) we are not understanding, and we can no longer write to the database and LabVIEW throws a "Data type mismatch in criteria expression" error like this
    "Possible reason(s):
    ADO Error: 0x80040E07

  • How to bring a VI front panel to the front (of all open windows) when the parent VI calls a sub-VI in Test Stand.

In Test Stand when I call a sub-VI front panel, the pop-up window goes behind all the windows and the user just waits for the screen. I want the pop-up to come to the front so that the user can know what to do. I couldn't find any property that I can set which would make the called VI go to the front.

What version of TestStand are you using? Here are the TestStand palettes in LabVIEW for TestStand 2.0 and 3.1. You can also set a VI to be modal in  VI Properties>Window Appearance. Select Dialog or go to Cutomize and change the Window Behavior.

So on each computer, you create a local user account that is a member of the Administrators group, and use the same account and password on each machine(controller and Agent), am I right?

  • Unable to connect to a Test database in UPK.

Hi everyone, I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. I recently had the Production version of UPK cloned to a virtual server and UPK is able to connect to the test database but when I launch UPK on my workstation and start the process of adding the Test Profile, it gives me an authentication error when I choose my current Windows login account to authenticate. I am running UPK version 3.6.1 and Oracle 10g database on a different server. What could be causing this issue and how can I fix it? Please advise.

    Hi,
Can you test network connectivity with your Unix Server with a Telnet on your DirectAccess client. If it works, problem is not located on server-side but on DirectAccess client-side. Maybe your SSH client force IPv4 use (using IPv4 to connect instead
of hostnames, or legacy DLL use). I had a similar case with a client-server application that only rely on IPv4. I had to cheat with NETSH.EXE PORTPROXY as illustrated in my blog post :
    http://danstoncloud.com/blogs/simplebydesign/archive/2012/02/11/tcpv4-based-applications-with-directaccess.aspx

  • I want to write a program in LabView then pass the test results to teststand to check if it pass or fail without displaying the test stand program,

I want to write a program in LabView and create an execute but I want to be able to pass test results to test stand to find it the unit pass ar fail the test then save the data to a database. How would i go about it.

What's confusing is your statement that you want to do this "without display the test stand program". You can minimize the TestStand UI to the task bar but if you don't want TestStand to be running, how can TestStand evaluate the result. Explain a little more please.
In the message body of your post, you just say you want to create a LabVIEW exe and pass the results to TestStand. What I would recomend is that instead of an exe, you create a dll and use TestStand's DLL adapter to call it and return the results. TestStand will evaluate it and do the logging.

  • Test Stand 3.5 install problem

I'm having problems installing Test Stand 3.5 Development Edition on a WinXP SP1 machine - would anyone have any suggestions.
I'm performing a custom install and selecting all components other than "Device Drivers".
The install fails on "NI TestStand 3.5 Support Files. Part 1 of 1" with "Error 1335. The cabinet file 'Cabs.m6' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package".
If I select abort at this point the install of the support files is rolled back and the remaining components apper to install correctly. I can now run Test Stand but am missing the help files. If I rerun setup it attempts to install the support files but fails with the same error.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling & have copied the CD contents to the local hard disk (without any problems) and installing from there. All this is to no avail.
I've also uninstalled and reinstalled an installation on a second machine using the same install media. This install succedded with no issues.

What is the difference between the two machines - where you've had successful and unsuccessful installs?
Like you've said sometimes this is caused by a faulty read from the CD drive, or faulty media, but as you've managed the install with the same media on the machine - then its not the media, and you've already tried the copy to hard disk from the CD without any luck.
What OS is on this other (working) machine?
Do you have administrator privileges on the machine where you can't install the software? Is the .NET framework 1.1 installed (I think this is part of Windows XP SP 2) so this could be the issue - as TestStand requires the .NET framework 1.1
Also - I've attached the readme which includes information to consider before installation - and known issues with the installation - check this and see if any of these could be the issue with this machine.
    I hope this helps

  • Is there a max number of parameters that can be passed to a C function in test stand v. 1.0.1

I have had an issue with test stand version 1.0.1 (yes, I know; it's quite old) and calling a C function thru an action step. when I call this function with 18 parameters, it seems to hang. I have called a function with 16 and it seems to work. Is this a limit of the software? I am calling the function from a windows DLL that we've created. When I try to pull the function from the dll into test stand I also get a { error...but I get that in the other function's call and it seems to work fine. Any ideas?

ok, upon re-reading what I posted I can clearly see your confusion. haha. I think there are two separate issues.
    1) Are there a maximum number of parameters one can use when calling a C function from a DLL? Yes, i'm trying to call a C function from test stand.
    2) when I select the "module" tab, and select which DLL contains my function, the prototype has no information associated with it (by clicking the reload prototype button). I'm not sure why, as I'm using a declspec to send the function information out of the dll, but that's another topic. So I click on the source file tab and point the window to the .cpp of my function (within the DLL's project workspace) and when it begins to parse the file, I get an error about mis-matched curly brackets and if I wish to continue, and skip the rest of the parsing.
I click "OK" and when I go back to the module tab, I am able to see all my functions, along with the parameters in the drop down menu below. I fill in all the parameters and everything looks ok; no syntax errors, or anything else seemingly suspicious. I then run my test stand code and when I get to the step which calls this function, the system hangs and cannot proceed.
Any thoughts as to what might cause these issues?
