Connecting to a remote servlet from an unsigned applet

My applet connects to a remote servlet (on a different server). I could obviously connect to it fine with a signed applet, but now my applet is no longer signed.
I understand an unsigned applet can access a servlet on the same web server host, but the problem is that the servlet is on a different server...
Is there some simple way I can create a file (html or whatever) on the web server host that can accept requests from the applet and redirect them to the remote servlet?
Cheers,
James

If I understand what you're saying, no.
But perhaps you can install the applet on the server that you want to connect to.

  • Connection Errors to Remote Desktop from OSX after Domain name change

We have an issue using Microsoft Remote Desktop from Macs in our school. All was well until we changed the domain name of our RDS servers and installed a new wildcard certificate. Connections work perfectly in Windows 7/8 and also iOS on iPads, but we cannot
get any Macs to connect having tried OSX 10.7 and 10.9. The error message says the connection failed to load but seems to add a spurious end to the connection string - TS/en-US/Default.aspx - but we cannot trace where this is being picked up.
We can get to the site in a web browser and sign in to receive the "browser not supported" message in Safari so traffic is obviously getting to the severs.
Has anyone else had a similar issue? We have spent days poking around with DNS etc but can't seem to make any progress here.

    Hi Jeremy,
I have tried removing connections and also re-installing the App. We have been using this App since January with no real issues until we made our domain name change - I really don't understand why it works fine in Windows and iOS but not OSX. We are doing
nothing different to what we have done from day 1.

  • Connection to a remote speaker almost impossible

I’ve just bought an Airport Express few weeks ago and it’s still almost impossible to get a reliable connection to the remote speaker from within iTune 5.01.
The Airport Express is connected as remote station to an Airport Extreme base using WDS.
When I’m trying to connect to the remote speaker, I’m getting the message that the remote speaker is already used by another computer. Since I’m also using a PowerMac G4 (running 10.3.9 and iTunes 5.01) at home, I’ve switched off this machine, switched off and on the Airport Express : most of the time I’m getting the error message.
After this few weeks period, I would say that rate of successful connections is less than 10 %. I wasn’t able to determine why the connection is suddenly working…
    Any clues are welcome
    Cheers
    Pascal

But the issue is I need to connect to the remote
server and not my local machine. What am I doing wrong
in the connection string? What you are doing wrong is assuming you can use a "remote DSN". If you're connecting to a DSN it has to be on your own machine. You may be able to make that DSN refer to a database on another machine, though.
You also mentioned a "remote server". You're also making a mistake in assuming such a thing exists. Other databases have servers but Access doesn't.
The simplest thing to do, probably, would be to map a drive to the machine where your remote Access database is located and then to use a DSN-less connection to it. I don't recall just how you do that but if the forum search facility is working then you should be able to find out, as that information is posted here frequently. Or you could use Google, and it will usually give you links to this forum.

  • Cant connect AppleTV as remote speakers

AppleTV will no longer connect as a remote speaker from iTunes. I always get the following even though my iMac and AppleTV are active on my home network: An error occured while connecting to the remote speaker "Apple TV". An unknown error occurred (-15000).

This is really frustrating... Why does Apple refuse to acknowledge this issue as it appears to be a problem for many!
I'm in the same boat with the following config:
MacBook Pro (Early '08) <-wireless-> AirPort Extreme 802.11g <-ethernet-> ATV
Why is it that ever since late December, I've been unable to stream from iTunes to my ATV?
Firmware on everything is the latest, using iTunes 8.0.2, AppleTV 2.3, OSX 10.5.6, I've set the firewall to "Set access..." and allowed iTunes, I've tried the iPv6 on/off trick, yet NOTHING works!
Is this a 10.5.6 issue? I noticed that it tanked right around the 12/15/08 release date...

    Avi,
Thanks for your response. I am actually returning a new InitialContext in a function call in the servlet. What I have noticed though is that JDeveloper creates two ear files for the application. One for the ejbs called ejb1.ear and another for the web files webapp1.ear. These are located in the applications subdirectory in OC4J directory.
I know I have two projects in the application, model and viewController. I am just trying to follow the MVC pattern.
In short, I don't think the web and the ejbs are in same ear file. I made the web project depend on the ejbs though. There is an option to set such. I don't know how to tell JDeveloper to put them all in one ear file.
    I will appreciate any suggestion.
    Thanks
    Matilda

  • Remote Desktop Connection to Windows 8 PC from other computers crashing

    Hi all.
Was hoping someone would be able to help me with an issue I'm having.
I'm trying to get a LAN remote desktop connection established to my Windows 8 laptop. It's an HP ENVY 17t-2100 CTO 3D Edition Notebook PC. Note that I'm running Windows 8 Pro only - not 8.1 as HP haven't released 8.1 graphics drivers for this laptop and probably
never will. The computer has a single user profile that has full administrator rights.
I have followed numerous web tutorials on how to turn on Remote Desktop. I've gone into Advanced System Settings > System Properties > Remote > checked "Allow Remote connections to this computer". All seems ok to me.
The problem comes when I try to establish a connection. When the connection is made, it almost instantaneously crashes the session on the computer or device trying to connect. The RDP client on my Windows 7 laptop, Mac OSX or Mac running Windows 8.1 Pro just
crashes, while the RDP iPhone or iPad app simply flickers for a few seconds then goes back to the main screen. Meanwhile, the HP ENVY loads the lock screen and displays a message saying XXX device is connected remotely and it won't let me log back in to kill
the connection or do anything. I have to restart the computer from then to be able to use it again.
I'm convinced there's not a problem with my local network as the HP ENVY can RDP into the Windows 7 laptop or Mac running Windows 8.1 without any problems. All computers are connected via Ethernet to a Linksys/Cisco wireless ADSL modem router which supports
Gigabit. The iPhone and iPad of course connect to the wifi network from the Cisco/Linksys modem router
I've also had a brief look at the RDP local connection logs. From what I can make out, they confirm that a user has successfully logged in, but they don't provide a crash log or a log of the user ever disconnecting, probably because I have to restart the computer
to continue using it. Dead end there, it seems.
The HP ENVY is connected to 3 external HP LED monitors. I've disconnected them and tried all devices with no luck. I've also played round with the RDP client settings to not mount drives or printers and the HP ENVY has no printers connected anyway, though I've
done all I can to remove any printer drivers as I've read elsewhere that they are what could cause the problem, but I've had no luck.
If anyone can suggest anything more that I can try, I would be unbelievably grateful! I'm more than happy to provide screenshots or videos of what happens when I try connecting. I'm not sure what you experts would find immediately helpful so just ask away if
you think I can provide anything.
    Thanks in advance!
    rugbyreff

The first thing that I would try is to uncheck all of the boxes for local resources on computer running the RDP client. It is possible that a device, such as a printer or other redirected device, is causing the crash. You can also look under Event Viewer
in the event logs of both systems and see if anything unusual appears when you attempt the remote connection.

    Hi Brandon
Many thanks for your suggestions. There's nothing in the logs that I could find, like I said in the original post. I've also tried connecting with bare minimum settings on all devices (FYI the iPad and iPhone version don't support the use of printers) and
    this still hasn't helped.
If you have any other ideas I'd be very glad to hear them!

if i'm not mistaken, the instructions say
    Setting up Remote app
Remote app 2.0 or later uses Home Sharing for setup and control with iTunes 10.0.1 and/or Apple TV (2nd generation).
    iTunes (10.0.1 or later)
Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
Turn on Home Sharing in iTunes by going to Advanced > Turn on Home Sharing
Connect iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to a Wi-Fi network that is connected to the local network that your Mac or PC is also connected to.
Open the Remote app (software version 2.0 or later) on your mobile device.
Turn on Home Sharing in the Remote Settings screen. Make sure to sign into the same Home Sharing account you used to sign in to from iTunes on your computer.
where does it mention entering a passcode ?

  • Loading remote EJB from servlet using jakarta and openejb

I am trying to create an environment where I use
openejb as my EJB container, and JAKARTA Tomcat
    as my
    Servlet/JSP container. However,
i'm having a problem in lookingup my remote EJB from my
    jakarta application.
That exact code works perfectly if I run it standalone. I
am using the same JRE. Jakarta has also loaded the
    openejb-0.8.3.jar and openejb_client-0.8.3.jar
What I dont understand is why jakarta
would behave differently than command-line java when I
    am
running in the same JRE on a single machine.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Several fairly major improvements have been maid in OpenEJB specifically for the Tomcat people. For one, the whole way you integrate them has completely been rewritten. Now all you have to do is copy a openejb_loader-0.9.1.war into the Tomcat webapps directory and change an init-param in it. Pretty straight forward. OpenEJB 0.8.3 won't work with Tomcat in the same VM, however OpenEJB 0.9.0 and up have been totally revamped in all things related to classloading so that it can co-exist with Tomcats unique classloading architecture.
O'Reilly just published an article detailing the ins and outs of the integration, it's a pretty good read:

    Hi,
1)To get mysql JDBC driver to work on my Linux system, i had to add the classpath for the driver to the .bashrc:
    CLASSPATH=./:home/<user>/java/mm.mysql-2.0.6/:home/<user>/java
Note that I execute the java program as the user <user> (and .bashrc is the config. file of this <user>...). Perhaps you must do this as well for the Oracle driver on your client machine. I don't know if your client machine is UNIX/LINUX or WINDOWS. It should only be clear that the CLASSPATH is set in the config. file of the user under which the java program runs and that this user has the permission to access the files.
There are no differences between accessing the database locally than accessing it by a network connection. The only thing that matters are that the connection parameters are right and that the network works properly.
    2) are you sure that the table tname (case sensitivity?) exits?

  • Connect to remote VPN from a network with its own VPN

    I have a Mac OS X Server v10.6 running L2TP behind a D-Link DIR-625 router.
I have client with a similar setup - Mac OS X Server v10.7 running L2TP behind a Time Capsule.
I want to be able to connect to my client's VPN from inside my network, but I get an error, "The L2TP-VPN server did not respond..."
When I disable the virutal server entries on my D-Link for VPN IKE (UDP Port 500) and VPN ESP (Protocol 50), I am able to connect to the remote VPN, but then obviously nobody can connect to my VPN.
Is this normal? Is it not possible to connect to remote VPNs if you are on a network that has a VPN server running behind a router?

You can still use SSH to connect from a UNIX platform to your DB Server (the same way you do in your desktop).
There's a few tutorials in making an active SSH tunnel for database activities, however, I think this kind of solution requieres more administration effort and in some environments could be cumbersome; if security is a concern, you can purchase ASO from Oracle, it handles the network encryption for you.
    Regards!
P.D. If you use PuTTy on your desktop, you could try the -L parameter for the ssh command.

  • How can i call a servlet from a servlet ?

    Hello,
Can i call a Servlet from within a Servlet ?
and is it "right thing" to Do ?
    Thanks

JMO, but I wouldn't do it like this.
Don't have a remote object like a servlet doing database queries for your app. That will mean TWO network hops for every query if the database resides on another machine. The network is the biggest bottleneck you've got.
Write a JavaBean that does the database stuff for you and just have the first servlet instantiate it when it needs it. A Bean has a better chance of being reused, too. Write a TableGateway or DAO for your object.
Or write an EJB to do it.
The only time I've done a servlet-to-servlet connection like that was for one servlet running in a DMZ that would authenticate a user and then forward the request to another servlet running inside the second firewall.
I wouldn't encapsulate database query logic in a servlet like that. JMO - MOD
