Connecting to non-secure listener port over TCPS

Hi,
I am trying to connect to non-SSL port over TCPS.
When I use tnsping, it hangs.
When I do an OCIServerAttach, it hangs.
Client is 10.2
And Database server is 9.2 and higher..
Any way I can find out why this is happening??
-Harsha

Maybe I'm not getting the point, but when you do not use SSL on this port, why do you want to use TCPS. Wouldn't TPC be a better choice?

  • JRE ignores proxy setting for connections to non-standard web ports

    Hi,
I've noticed that JRE would not use the proxy settings if the application tries to connect to a web address on a non standard http port. If port 80, 443, 8080 etc is used, the proxy is used but if it's something like 32938 it's not. Is there anyway to disable this behaviour and just have the proxy used for all HTTP traffic, regardless of destination port. Below a trace snippet that shows the behaviour.

  • JDeveloper fails to connect after enabling SSL Listen Port

    Hi,
When I activate SSL on port 8002 (SSL Listen Port Enabled) for my soa_server in weblogic console, JDeveloper fails to connect to the server when deploying.
Soa server lookup takes a long time an ends in an error failed to connect to <server>:8002
When I turn off SSL JDev can find the SOA server again.
I use JDeveloper 11.1.1.4 and SOA Suite 11.1.1.4
What can I do about this?
    Groeten,
    HJH

Here's the top 3 causes for this:
    (1) make sure the database listener is running on the server with the database.
    (2) make sure the connection information that JDeveloper is using is correct.
    (3) remember that JDeveloper uses the SID and not the service name.

According to my knowledge it is possible, you have to mention that port in the communication channel.

  • Is there any way to treat expired SSL certs in HTTPS connections as non-secure?

Is there a way of navigating HTTPS websites as though they were HTTP, without adding any SSL exceptions?
Obviously an expired/self signed SSL cert over HTTPS is no more dangerous than no encryption at all over HTTP.
The Untrusted Connection dialog is a usability nusance, particularly for those of us who understand HTTPS.

    Check out:

You will need to turn on Client Auth as described above. Hope it helps.

  • Why does NM make my Gmail connect on non-secure?

    Hi
    just wondering why this is?
Does this now mean that my Gmail Username / Password is passed in plain text because its not on SSL??
This seems to be rather a serious security concern. I would like an answer to this question to determine if I continue with this mail product. I would rather have manual secure connection than insecure automation
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It would seem (after a discussion with Nokia care) that my concerns of security are unfounded.
The rep said that no user authentication was sent between the phone and my gmail. The pathway was that Nokia took my credentials (as discussed) at account creation and then harvested my mail and passed it on to my phone when it arrived.
I assume my phone must authenticate to Nokia when its online so as they know to push it up to me.
So to test this I put in a "lalala" password into my gmail account settings on the phone, restarted it to see if it would connect
    It did
This at least allays my fears that password was being passed around in the clear. If it were connecting to Gmail with my phone based credentials it would not be able to connect with 'lalalala'
So clearly then only them mail content itself is passed in the clear.
    I can live with that

  • Connecting to labview over TCP/IP port

I have got an undocumented project to maintain, it has a Java UI code, which connects with some component of LABVIEW over
    TCP/IP Port = 1234
and over this port it sends commands for clear, get, set
I need links for understanding the component from LABVIEW which is been accessed over port 1234
I have installed LABVIEW Run time 2013, and do not know which PROCESS the Java code is trying to connect over TCP/IP, and I do not see any of the RT processes binding to port 1234.
Any pointers/links would certainly help me!
    Thanks,
    -Vikrant

Can you define what you mean by "component of LabVIEW"?
The LabVIEW runtime engine is just a required component to run any custom build LabVIEW executable or dll. So, what is it?
You also mention RT processes. Does this run on an RT system? What is running where? If you are connecting to a remove LabVIEW RT system that runs a service on port 1234, you don't need LabVIEW or a run time engine at all on the local side.
At this time we don't have any useful information from you. Please be significantly more detailed! Thanks.

  • How to send joystick data over TCP connection

    Hi all,
I am a long time Labview discussion forum user for learning, but this is my first time posting a question, I hope somebody can help me!
In the attached VI I am trying to send data from a joystick over a TCP connection. I can send data fine using the TCP examples (in fact the majority of my VI is just a copy of the example). However I am to the point where I do not know how to send all the data necessary (3 axis data, 12 buttons, and the POV data) over TCP. Strings, clusters, and arrays were never my strong suite and converting between them is a nightmare for me.
Basically I am trying to send each axis data (X,Y, and Z), button data (12 buttons), and POV data (the POV data will be calculated to adjust the position of a camera, so the immediate data is not important, I will add functions to add the change in the button movements to write a standing position for two servos [pan and tilt], for which that I will need to send over the TCP connection) over the TCP connection to control various cameras and motors. I don't know if it is posible to send that much data over a TCP connection in one write VI through a string, and also how to separate the string on the other side in order to control the client VI.
Again, the actual TCP communication I get, and can operate fine, just formatting all the data into a string (or whatever is required) so that I can unpack on the other side is the issue here.
Another question I have (not impotant to get the program running just might make it easier on me) is can a TCP server (which sends the data to the client) also recieve data back from the client on the same port ( for example sensor data and digital positions [on,off])? Or do I need to set up two TCP communication loops with the first client acting as the server on a different port than the first, which then sends the data to the original server, which also has a client TCP configuration in another loop? I hope this makes sense...
One final question.....I already have a solution to this but using labview for the entirety of this project would be nice. I use skype to stream 1080p video from a webcam to my computer so I can view live feed. Can labview do this? This would be awesome if so, I am just not sure if the communication protocols in use could support real time (or as close as possible to streaming) for 1080p video.
Thanks all in advance for your help,

Well, you cast the axis info cluster to a string, but then you cast it back to an array of DBL. Thatr's not compatible. You should probably cast it back to an "axis info" cluster of exactly the same type. Go the the other VI and right-click the cluster wire to create a constant. Now move that diagram cluster constant to the other VI and use it as type.
Your default ports don't seem to match. You seem to have client and server roles confused. In the sever you create a listener, but then you start sending packets, even though no connection is established. The connection needs to be initiated by the client.
Your client stops the loop the first time a timeout is encountered. Shouldn't that be more permanent? Also, please retain code clarity and avoid unecessary complexities. For example, replace the "not or" with a plain "or" and change the loop to "stop if true"

You can send as much as you want. The casting to/from string is the same as described above.

The primary function of a "server" is to wait for a connection and then communicate with the client once a conenction is established. An established TCP/IP connection is fully two-way and both sides can send and receive.

  • SSL Connection over TCP using SSLSocketFactory to remote C++ Server

    Hi.
Despite my traversing through the archives, I could not find a
solution to my problem. So hopefully, that would mean i have a simple
    isolated, and FIXABLE problem :-)
My web application running under Weblogic 7.01 as a servlet needs to
connect to a remote server using SSL over tcp.
The server is a C++ app using openssl libraries to serve up a
    self-signed certificate.
The code fragments to do so look like this:
         SSLSocketFactory sf =
    (SSLSocketFactory)SSLSocketFactory.getDefault();
         connection = sf.createSocket(host, port);
         output.write(...)
         output.flush();
Upon the flush, I get the following error:
java.io.IOException: Write Channel Closed, possible SSL handshaking or
    trust failure
         at com.certicom.tls.record.WriteHandler.write(Unknown Source)
         at com.certicom.tls.interfaceimpl.TLSConnectionImpl.fireAlertSent(Unknown

         at java.io.BufferedOutputStream.flush(BufferedOutputStream.java:125)
         at java.io.DataOutputStream.flush(DataOutputStream.java:99)
My guess is that its complaining about not trusting the certificate
being sent back by the server.
I typically use JSSE for this application when running within other
    appservers, and
this application has no problems. But because i've run into issues
with using JSSE in WL7.01 (another topic
for another day), I'm using the default WL ssl library.
    I have set weblogic.security.SSL.trustedCAKeyStore=d:\bea\weblogic700\server\lib\cacerts,
    and imported my
certificate into that cacerts file. This doesn't seem to fix my
    problem. Is there another truststore
that my webapp may rely on? Where within the admin console can I
    figure this out?
Or am I on the wrong track here?
Also, if its any clue, elsewhere within the same application, I make
    https requests to another
web app running under the same weblogic server - and that is fine - I
use the URLConnection class in those cases.
    Any help is much appreciated!
    Thanks

  • Excessive Port 80 TCP Connections?  How many connections are normal?

Hi. I'm running MacOS X 10.3.9 on a Mac Powerbook (with all of Apple's latest Security Updates installed. It is a virgin installation and no other software programs have been installed). I then installed Norton Personal Firewall 3.0.2 in order to monitor all my ports.
By default, Norton Personal Firewall (NPF) is not set to log the number of outgoing connections for port 80, although port 80 is the port typically used by most web browsers to contact other sites on the web. If you disable port 80, then your browser will not be able to function or access the web. Therefore it is mandatory that you leave that port open. But what if some unknown hacker wrote a Trojan program to specifically ferry information out of your computer and back to him using that port, then there'd be no way to stop it once the Trojan was in place. If you disabled the port to prevent it, then you'd also disable yourself from the web. If you opened the port for your browser, then the trojan would have free and open access. At least that is the theory that has me wondering about the seemingly high number of outgoing port 80 connections displayed in my NPF logging window. Therefore, I'd very much like to find out if other users who are running a version of Panther with NPF are experiencing the same high connections behavior on port 80.
To create the scenario for this behavior, basically you just open your NPF panel and enable all logging for port 80 (by default it is disabled). For those of you who don't specifically know how to do this, the following is the directions . . .
. . . Open your NPF Service Settings pane. From this pane, highlight the service called Web Sharing Port 80. Click the Edit button at the bottom of the selection window. A new pane will then show the controls named Ports, Logging, and Notification. Bring forward the Logging controls and enable both checkboxes for Allowed and Denied for the Outgoing direction. Click Save and close the window.
Once the above is done, close all other windows and open your NPF Logging window on your desktop and keep it visible for you to look at. Clear all existing entries in the log so you'll start with a clean slate. With everything set up and a web connection available, open your Safari browser (or any browser) to an online web site. On my computer, my Safari bowser is set to open to Apple's website - www.apple.com. Once the browser is open, Apple's website is then displayed.
The result . . . surprisingly, after only a few seconds, a HUGE number of port 80 TCP connections to that website address start to show up and flow into my log. In a matter of only 3 or 4 seconds, at least 250 separate TCP connection entries will show up in my log, and they all have the same web address. If I then click on anything on the page or surf to any other website, the log entries will change to the new site address and start up again, and in some cases, in a matter of less than a minute the number of entries can easily reach into the thousands. I've seen 20,000 entries or more flow into my log after a couple of minutes. And the only way to stop the madness and the entries is to disconnect from the web. Those many entries and this behavior does not seem normal to me, no matter what port is selected and no matter what log settings are enabled. A dozen to 15 or 20 entries for a given site I can understand (I've been told some browsers can open at least 10 connections at a time), but hundreds to thousands, I cannot. I can't understand why any program under any circumstance would need to generate those many log entries in such a short time frame. My problem is I have nothing to compare this data to, I only have my suspicions and have no way of knowing whether this behavior is normal or not. So I am asking for others to make a comparison on their computer if you are running any version of Panther and Norton Personal Firewall and give me your results so I can determine what is normal or not. I've heard of certain hacker attacks called TCP flooding and other forms of attacks, and I don't want my computer to have been secretly taken over by a hacker or the initiator of such attacks unknowingly. Furthermore, this is not anything an average user would even normally notice, simply because Port 80 logging is not usually enabled in NPF. Nevertheless, I need to find out the root of this problem and learn whether this is normal. Other than these high number of connection entries, my web surfing seems normal and I haven't yet experienced any seeming sluggishness accessing sites. Any help anyone can offer I would appreciate. Thanks to everyone in advance.
Here are some images of my own settings and results:

    http://homepage.mac.com/starshone/misc/Port80Log.jpg
      Mac OS X (10.3.9)

But all those connections are how the web works. Each HTML page has dozens or more links. Each graphic or other page element is a new HTTP request on port 80 back to the originating server (or another server even). So it's normal to have a lot of port 80 connections going out if you surf the web.
You can see the individual elements that make up a page in Safari by going to the "Window" menu and showing the "Activity" window. I see CNN's web site tonight has 113 items on its home page. Apple's is 41. My home page is 10. So it's easy to get a lot of connections.
Some applications also use port 80 to check for updates, so you might see the occasional port 80 connection even when you're not surfing the web. These are also nothing to worry about.

  • RDP listening port needs to be changed on one client PC - can't connect via Anywhere Access

We have a setup with Server 2012 Essentials and 10 workstations. We have setup Anywhere Access and is working fine. We have one system (Windows 7 Pro) on the network running AADS Server (use to be called XP Unlimited). This allows several users to logon
to that PC remotely at once as well as someone local using it. This PC needs to be changed from the default 3389 port due to the new AADS Server version requiring it. When ever we change the listening port we cannot remote desktop into this PC. It is available
in Remote Web Access Portal but just sits trying to connect. We have allowed the new connection in the Windows Firewall and even turned the firewall off as a test with no luck.
My question is, can we change the default 3389 port connection that the Server redirects you to for one PC on the network? If not how do you change in the Server to look at another local port for RDP once in the portal?
    Thanks, Jason

    Hi Jboy,
Can you navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SYSTEM, CurrentControlSet, Control, Terminal Server, WinStations and RDP-Tcp.  Right click on the PortNumber dword and select Modify.  Change the base to Decimal and enter a new port between 1025 and 65535
that is not already in use. Finally click OK.

  • Disabling directory non-secure port

    Hi all.
Is there in Sun Directory Server 5.1 any way to disable non-secure port in order to bind all the connections through the secure port?
    Thanks in advance.

You could try setting the regular port number to "0". I don't think clients can connect on port 0. Be aware that this may disable your ability to manage the DS through the GUI console.

  • Doing proper NAT to FTP connections on non-standard port

    Router 1712, IOS 12.3
There is an article from Cisco, "Using Non-Standard FTP Port Numbers with NAT".
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk648/tk361/technologies_tech_note09186a0080094e76.shtml
It explains how to enable NATting router to perform proper translation of NAT-sensitive protocols, in this case FTP.
The article assumes that the FTP server in question is on the inside interface of the router.
The configuration proposed by the article is as follows:
    interface Ethernet0
    ip address 10.1.1.2 255.255.255.0
    ip nat inside
    interface Serial0
    ip address 192.168.10.1 255.255.255.252
    ip nat outside
ip nat service list 10 ftp tcp port 2021
ip nat inside source static 10.1.1.1 20.20.20.1
    access-list 10 permit 10.1.1.1
In my case, the FTP server in question is on the outside interface. The router is performing source NAT for outbound connections. An example of my config is below:
    interface Ethernet0
    ip address 12.34.56.1 255.255.255.0
    ip nat outside
    interface Vlan324
    ip address 10.1.1.2 255.255.255.0
    ip nat inside
ip nat service list 10 ftp tcp port 2021
ip nat inside source static 10.1.1.100 12.34.56.100
    access-list 10 permit 12.34.56.200
With this configuration, Layer 3 NAT is working. I'm able to establish an FTP control channel and issue FTP commands. However, I think that the IP addresses inside FTP control channel are not translated properly (to 12.34.56.100). Therefore, the FTP data channel is not working.
I tried to enable the following debug, however didn't see any entries related to FTP control channel translation:
    debug ip nat
    debug ip nat detailed
    debug ip snat
    debug ip snat detailed
    debug ip ftp
    debug ftpserver
    My question is:
Is the "ip nat service list <acl> ftp tcp <port>" command supposed to work when the FTP server in question is on the outside interface of the translating router ?

    Hi,
I see that this question was asked quite some time ago but I have come across the same issue, i.e when the server is on the outside interface the ip in the "PORT" command from the client is not translated.
Did you ever get a fix for it?
    Thanks

  • Pls confirm SMB over TCP/IP w/o NetBIOS (port 445)

Pls confirm that Mac OS X natively supports SMB over TCP/IP w/o NetBIOS layer, i.e. have you been able to connect to a Windows mashine on port 445 (not 139) w/o port remapping.
    MB 2.0   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I just talked for 30 min with one of the university network sysadmins. Apparently, OS X does NOT support "native" SMB over TCP/IP on 445 (i.e. w/o handshake session on 139). It probably could be done thru VPN or DAVE software, but not thru Finder. There doesn't seem to be an easy fix to smb.conf or nsmb.conf that might do that.
Most of the firewalls around here filter 139 (but not 445) so PC can share with PC over Samba, but Mac can not. Way to go, Apple.
