has anyone used Pointbase database in Netbean? I am having connecting to Pointbase due to incorrect password. any idea how i can change password?

Hi,
I have got MySQL database server installed and running on a different machine. Is there any way to connect and browse database remotely using netbeans 5.5?
I have added connector/driver for that database. i can connect and browse the database with host: "localhost" and port number. But when i specified the ip address of that machine, it gives me error.
Can anyone help please.

well, its not working in App server either.
In App server admin console, on that connection pool if i define servername as "localhost", it works fine. If i change it to the remote machine's ip address, then it doesn't work.
Any idea will be appreciated.

Problem in Connectivity to Derby Database in Netbeans IDE

I am using the newest version of Netbeans IDE
I already set the variable for JAVA_HOME and DERBY_HOME along with the path variables.
I am trying to connect to Database in Network Mode
using the following code

but it is giving the runtime error that "Unable to load Driver"
Please help me to get through this

Try adding the following to your class:
import org.apache.derby.jdbc.ClientDriver;
If it produces an error, your driver *.jar file is not in the classpath.

Connect to Oracle Database Using Netbeans

I am trying to connect to Oracle but it keeps saying that it is locked.
***Error:
Cannot establish a connection to jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:XE using oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver (ORA-28000: the account is locked )

Ok, I uninstalled and reinstalled Oracle and it still wasn't working. However, it was an user issue. When I went back to the link that I previously posted and reread, it gave me the user name and the password that I was supposed to use, in order for this to work.
username: systems
password: whatever I used to set up Oracle.
So, I didn't KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid.

Problem Connecting to PointBase

I am trying to connect to pointbase database on my machine using JSPs.
My pointbase system is the one that comes with J2EE bundle.
And I am using Sun Java Application Server for hosting JSPs.
This is the code I use to connect:

DataSource ds = (DataSource) ic.lookup(dbName);
Connection con = ds.getConnection();And I get the following exception:

I do not know the exact settings to make and where to make them.
I am guessing I somehow need to specify these properties in some script file.
Please let me know how to solve this problem if you know it.

well this is certainly a configuration issue. can you connect to and access the database from a client tool? i'd try that just to make sure the database is alive and well. then i'd check the dbName or URL to make sure you are pointing to the right place. and forgive me for asking the simple questions, but did you create the database? did you start the database?
also, i see a lot of people are accessing databases in JSP's these days. maybe i'm old school or something, but everywhere i've worked you'd be shot for doing it. is it just me? or is this a just-for-fun type of project

Pointbase database troubleshooting

hi
it seems like my pointbase database got ruined..can some one please suggest the steps to trobleshoot pointbase data issues....can anybody please suggest how to view the tables and data in pointbase database, can i connect to pointbase database through SQL connection...if so, can you please tell me where can i find my pointbase database connection properties such as host, port, username, pwd, database name...etc.

Thank you for your suggestions, our main problem is, when ever we open a portal admin console for our application , it is always giving an error "unable to render / framework / skeltons / wlp-tools / main_menu.jsp", we do not lot of configurations in the portal admin console, but we have few other applications running on the same domain, so we have been forced to use the same domain instead of creating a new domain, but if we open, one of the other applications (which are deployed on same domain)portal admin console, it is working fine, then we changed the url to our application in the same browser for our app portal admin console, then our application's portal admin console is opening properly without giving any error...so iam not able to understand what is causing this issue, please let me know if you have any suggestions, our desktops are not working in the application, so iam thinking this error "unable to render / framework / skeltons / wlp-tools / main_menu.jsp" is the cause behind desktops not working..
Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Uhm SQL (Structured Query Language) is like the base
of all other type like MySQL and Oracle. Um, given the context I think the person was referring to "Microsoft SQL Server". Sometimes people will cut to the chase and refer to the product as "SQL". At those times it's understood by all parties that we're not talking about the query language, rather the Microsoft product.

i want to connect to oracle database to fetch some report data, but the entire server and workshop crashed with the error that the anonymouse user and table is not defined,
what did i did mistake in connecting to that oracle database,?
i had just created a datasource in jdbc services nothing else and the driver was XA compliant,
please help me out

If you can post the exact error or exception you are getting will be able to understand the exact problem.
But you can use the oracle thin driver(<driver-name>oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver</driver-name>, <url>jdbc:oracle:thin:localhost:1521:DBName</url>).With this driver it works absolutely fine.

Connection to multiple databases using a single EJB

How can I connect to multiple Databases (using @PersistenceContext) using an EJB?
Did I need to connect various Entity Managers corresponding to the each database and simply send my Queries?
I am using Glassfish Application Server

Java Derby Database
Oracle Database
Java Persistence API

Yes, you need a persistence context and thus entity manager per database. Depending on what you want to achieve you may also need to go to the next level in your skill set and learn all about distributed transactions.

Error connecting to MySQL database using JNDI

Hi,
I'm trying to do a simple connection to a MySQL database using the JNDI look-up
method.
Have tried this with the PointBase database that came with WebLogic and got it
to work successfully.
However got the attached error message when I tried it on MySQL database. I tried
this with both the WebLogic's driver for MySQL and also the one I downloaded from
MySQL (com.mysql.jdbc.Driver), and both failed with the same error message.
Offhand, it doesn't look like the connection pool is failing. Tested it with WebLogic's
"Test Pool" function and it was alright.
Also MySQL database is working properly. Test this by doing simple connection
and retrieval with simple JDBC connections and it works.
Any ideas what else I can check with regards to this problem?

Hi Joe,
Attached is the config.xml for the domain that I'm working with. There are 3 connection
pools set-up.
The problematic Connection Pools are "MySQLCP" and "My JDBC Connection Pool"

In Jdeveloper you have a Connection Navigator that you use to configure named connections. All you need to do is to define the JDBC string in there.

Yes you can. You need the JDBC driver for the specific database and then follow the online help of JDeveloper.
look for "Registering a New Third-Party JDBC Driver" when you search for JDBC.

Problems pinging pointbase Database

Hello this is my problem
Im working with the default version of PointBase database that comes with the SJAS boundle. Im trying to access the sample database throgh the jndi service and these are the steps that i did:
1.- i created a new connection pool with the following data
Name: myDataSource
Datasource Classname: com.pointbase.jdbc.jdbcPooledDataSource
Resource Type: javax.sql.ConnectionPoolDataSource
and these properties:
PortNumber:9092
Password: PBPUBLIC
ServerName: localhost
DatabaseName: sample
User: PBPUBLIC
At this moment i did a ping to the DB an this is the error tha i get
"Operation 'pingConnectionPool' failed in 'resources' Config Mbean"
I did what some messages posted say like to ensure about include the jar's in the classpath prefix (JVM Settings-->Path Settings) in this case i include the exact directory:
C:\Sun\AppServer\pointbase\lib\pbclient.jar
C:\Sun\AppServer\pointbase\lib\pbembedded.jar
restarted the server and the same.
I copy those jar's to the server lib and to the instance (default) lib and the same. Finally i change the server's log level to FINEST at the <module-log-leves .... connector="FINEST" resource-adapter="FINEST" ....>
and i get this message

The current jdbc pool properties and values used are incorrect.
Please create jdbc connection pool for pointbase using these properties and values. Make sure you start pointbase database too in <appserver>/pointbase/tools/serveroption/startserver.sh

DatabaseName=jdbc:pointbase:server://localhost:9092
