Connecting via RMI/IIOP from Websphere 4

Hi,
I was wondering if anybody has connected to EJBs running on Sun ONE from a Websphere 4 application running on Solaris. We have been able to connect from Websphere running on Windows. The error on Solaris is java.rmi.MarshalException: CORBA BAD_PARAM 1330446359.
It would even be helpful if someone could point me to some documentation that states it is not supported.

it still not interoperable on 1.4. I try hello world example, with client use Java IDL ORB and server use JacORB and its name service. when client goes to
orb.resolve_initial_references( "NameService" )
it hangup and server side throws garbage like
org.jacorb.poa.except.POAInternalError: error extracting oid from object_key: INIT
Anyone has succeeded with Sun's IDL client and other server?

Connect Via RMI To A Remote Service?

Has anyone connected, via RMI, to a remote service within an application module? Currently this seems to wreak havoc upon all future and current ORMI communication to and from the application server in which a model is deployed (or at least within a container). Does anyone have any idea on how to do this correctly?

This OC4J is configured to make JMX connections via RMIS...error!

Hello,
I have just installed OBIEE and when I try to log into Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g and got the following error:
This OC4J is configured to make JMX connections via RMIS and fall back to RMI if the RMIS port is not configured. The RMIS connection on the OC4J local instance is configured but a connection could not be established. The JMX protocol is specified by the oracle.oc4j.jmx.internal.connection.protocol property in opmn.xml
I have tried to reinstall OBIEE a couple of times but still get this error. Please let me know what I need to do to get this up and running.

This may be because of the host name. You might have any special characters in host name, remove any under scores in host name, restart computer and check it.

Losing RMI-IIOP connection at server end

Hi all
I have a system running on Solaris 9, JVM 1.4.2_06 with a webapp hosted in Tomcat 5.5 connecting over RMI-IIOP to another java service on the same machine. The connection is established at webapp initialisation via a lookup to the naming service (currently tnameserv).
Unfortunately, after a period of time (varies between a few hours and a couple of days), the RMI connection simply disappears from the server-side point of view, and the webapp grinds to a halt. Taking a thread dump of Tomcat and the service at the point of failure shows that Tomcat still has "JavaIDL Reader" threads listening to the service, but the service has lost all of its "JavaIDL Reader" threads listening to Tomcat.
I've traced the problem as far as line 518 of com.sun.corba.se.internal.iiop.messages.MessageBase:
bytecount = is.read(buf, offset + n, size - n);This read on the InputStream is throwing an IOException. I have configured the system so that IP address 127.0.0.1 is being used in all places.
It may well be that this is not the right forum for this question, but has anyone else ever come across a problem like this? All suggestions most welcome.

In trying to find an answer to your question, have actually discovered that the root cause of the issue is actually a little lower in the stack.
SocketInputStream.read(byte[],int,int) is returning -1 (EOF), and this is being interpretted into an IOException by the MessageBase class. So now I need to work out why this unexpected EOF may be occurring on this platform.
I imagine this is no longer very relevant to the RMI forum. I've posted on the Socket Programming forum.

Error trying to connect via jdbc

I'm trying to connect via jdbc driver from a java application to a remote db. The code is quite simple

Please be aware of the following facts:
1) sqlplus from the same machine has no problem connecting to the db
2) there is no firewall or router between the client and the server
3) As host name I've tried the fqdn (resolved by the DNS), a name I've set up in /etc/hosts, the mere IP address
4) Checking with tcpdump, I've verified that NO network packet actually leaves the client, so the problem completely lies there.
Has anyone some good idea why this happens?

Screwey rmi-iiop behavior

I got the rmi-iiop example code to work just fine, but I tried extending
it a little and strangeness ensues. Here's what I did:

(which does extend java.io.Serializable, incidentally), it works fine!
I tried this with my own interfaces and concrete classes, and I get the
same strange behavior: calling methods with interface argument types on
the ejb via rmi-iiop fails with the above cryptic error, but methods
with concrete argument types work fine.
I also tried this out on a non-ejb rmi-iiop server object using jdk 1.3
but not weblogic. In that case both interfaces and concrete method
argument types work just fine.
Now I'm wondering if this could be a bug in weblogic.ejbc's iiop
generation. Can anyone else verify this problem?

I opened a ticket in Day Care Support system, about CRX users/group membership that got lost while synchronization with our LDAP server.
Although when the user and the group had been created (and therefore taken from that same LDAP server), the membership was good.... but after some time the membership got lost......
So what i am trying to do now is a Java program that connects to CRX via RMI.
And gets the list of all the users from a group (aka membership).
The idea is to monitor the membership each seconds.
But when trying to get the property "rep:members" of the group, I have the following exception :

I searched a little bit and found that "10" is the number for type WeakReference.
That's normal to me because memberships are stored in the group as a list reference to users linked to that group....
Anyways, what's not normal to me is that when the type is "10" the API does not let me get the Value (cf. ServerProperty.getValues() method)

Client connect via java.rmi

I am trying to fidnd the simplest method for connecting to Weblogic RMI registry to
get a reference to a server program which implements a component interface with PeopleSoft.
Can normal java.rmi be used to get that reference, if so how can I find out which
port to use to send the reqest.
Or do I have to use http tunelling or t3 protocols? This is a junit test so I want
to avoid loading the weblogic rmi implementation and security classes required to
keep it as simple as possible.

You also need to make sure you generated the IIOP stubs using -iiop with the ejbc compiler...

Cannot connect RMI-IIOP client to standalone OC4J (10.1.3)

[PROBLEM]
I am trying to access an EJB session bean from a simple remote java client.
The EJB is deployed to a standalone OC4J server.
Using the RMI-over-IIOP protocol for client-server communication.
The client and server run in separate JVMs (but on the same machine).
This is a simple java client program, not a J2EE application client.
The InitialContext creation fails with the errors shown below.
I searched around on the web, and found other people with the same issue, but no solution:

I generated the iiop stubs during deployment (-DGenerateIIOP=true) to the server. Added the generated IIOPClient jar file to my client classpath.
Also specified -enableIIOP and remote=true for the EJB deployment.
As per the 10.1.3 documentation, I also specified the following command line arguments:

The iTune Remote App has stopped finding my iTunes library when connected to wifi from my main router, but works fine when connected via second wifi router on the same network (different SSID)

I'm running iTunes Remote App from a couple of iPhone 5's and a first generation iPod Touch. iTunes is running on a PC - Windows 7. My home network runs two Wifi Routers, each with a different SSID. I've had no problems with the Remote app running this set up for the last 8 months but recently the App can only find my iTunes library when the iPhone/iPod is connected via one specific router, when connected to the network via the other router, no iTunes library is found. I'm also running an Apple TV and it's the same as the iTunes Library, only visible via the one SSID.
Everything else seems to work fine when connected via either router, eg Internet on the iPhones (definitely via wifi)
I've tried renewing the lease on the iPhone wifi connection, restarting everything.....several times.....
It used to work fine, this only seems to have been a problem in recent weeks

It turned out to be the firewall settings on our router. Her machine was sending traffic that our router interpreted as a DoS attack and blacklisted her Airport's MAC address. That's why it would work fine if she switched to Ethernet.

How do I print from wifi-connected MacBook Pro to printer connected via USB to Win7 PC?

This is really frustrating, and I did not think that anything could be this difficult on a Mac. I have a Windows 7 Home Premium desktop PC connected via ethernet cable to wireless router, and a printer connected to the PC via USB. I recently bought my first ever Mac - a MacBook Pro, which is connected via wifi through the same router. All I want to do is to print files from the MacBook Pro on the printer connected to the PC. I have spent a LOT of time searching all over the web. Have tried some 2 or 3 different methods but none of them work for me, e.g. I shared the printer on the Win7 desktop and then added the printer on the MBP with the IP option with LPD/LPR Protocol, after enabling LPD Print Service on the PC. The printer gets added but when I give the command to print from the Mac, the print job shows up on the printer queue but the "Printing" soon changes to "Error Printing" (or something like that) and nothing gets printed. Then, I have to switch off the printer, remove the print job from the queue and switch on the printer again to get it out of the error state.
I also tried setting up the printer on the MBP using CUPS Admin interface, i.e. localhost:631. Again, printer gets added but document does not print. The third way I tried to add the printer was using the Windows option in the Add Printer dialog, and typing in an smb: URL but no luck with that, either.
Please, can anyone help me? This is driving me crazy

First Install Bonjour for Windows on your Windows machine. This will allow the printer to be discovered.

How do you read and display a signal from my a miccrontroller (MCB1700) onto labview connected via a CAN port on a PXI machine?
I tried using a DAQ Assistant but the CAN port is not included as one of the supported physical channels even though all its drivers are upto date.

Just open your LG volume up likes its an external HD and drag all photos onto a folder in your macbook Air.
