Connection is refused

I install Oracle 10G XE Edition on my system fine (Windows XP Home Edition w/ SP1, etc etc).
However, when I go to the database homepage I get this connection, even though my port 8080 is open:
"The connection was refused when attempting to contact 127.0.0.1:8080"
I've done some reading on these boards and I have noticed that I am not the only one using this software to experience this flaw. I've read some solutions on this forum and elsewhere and they didn't resolve the problem (either that or I did a mistake in attempting to fix the problem).
Why does this happen and how can I fix this? I did disable my firewall (Sygate Pro 5.5) and this did not change anything. The port (8080) is open.

start with the following:
1) Are the database and listener services up and running in the Control Panel services area?
2) If yes, is the listener running correctly? From a command line, run
lsnrctl status
3) If that looks reasonable, is the database available? Again from a command line, run
sqlplus system/{your_password}
4) If that comes up with no wierd error-ish messages, enter
select dbms_xdb.gethttpport() from dual;
which should respond with a number such as 8080. If not, try using the number it shows, as you have a port conflict and it has moved the HTMLDB listener.
If you don't get to the end of step 4, report what you've seen.

  • Network Connection Was Refused - PLEASE help me this time...

To be perfectly honest, I'm quite irritated. I want answers. And if there is no answer, I want someone to tell me such. I've posted three times before, twice on someone else's topic, and once on my own. This is my last ditch effort. PLEASE help me. I really enjoy the use of your product, and I don't want to give up on it.
Many people are having issues with their network connection. I know I'm not the only one. Some diagnostics say the connection to iTunes works, but for some reason still won't open the music store. In my case, it says it isn't.
I went to my parents' house this holiday and stole their broadband high speed internet connection, hoping that the new connection might make iTunes work. Nope. So now I'm fresh out of ideas.
Here is the information I posted on an earlier post below. PLEASE help me answer my question. I'm really missing my iTunes. It's been a long time since I've had it, and there are a bunch of songs I plan to download if I am able to get it back. Thank you so much!
I downloaded the newest version of iTunes, without realizing that there were so many problems with it. The installation went off without a hitch, and it was able to open up my library. However, whenever I try to access the music store, the message "iTunes could not connect to the Music Store. The network connection was refused. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again" appeared. I tried redownloading it, but that didn't solve the problem. I got frustrated, and finally was able to download 7.01. That didn't work either. So I downloaded the older version that I used to have. The same error message appeared. NOW I'm mad, because I can't even get the older version back. I want my older version back... I never had a problem with your products before, but right now I'm slowly losing faith. PLEASE help me.
I can't run a diagnostics on my network connection anymore, but I had posted my first diagnostics on the old post, referencing back to when I was still trying to fix the newest version. I'll post the diagnostics below the post.
I have a wireless connection, since I live in an apartment complex right now. I didn't have the same connection type when I first downloaded iTunes a year or more ago, but I was able to work iTunes under this connection before I uploaded.
Please help me. I want my music store back.

  • Ever since i downloaded OSX Mountain Lion, Express VPN no longer works properly for me. Even though it says I am connected, webpages refuse to load. However, everything works fine when its turned off. I cannot go on many websites without the VPN.

Ever since i downloaded OSX Mountain Lion, Express VPN no longer works properly for me. Even though it says I am connected, webpages refuse to load. However, connection speed is fine when its turned off. I cannot go on many websites without the VPN. My current location is Shanghai, China. OSX Mountain was installed this morning and everything worked fine until then. Is Express VPN not supported? What do i need to do in order to get it working again on my Macbook Pro (early 2011). I want to be able to go on websites such as Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, ect...

    Hi,
I am having the same issue listed above on my new Mac Mini i just bought, I also contacted Express VPN support and got the same instructions with exception of the command to run in the utilities terminal.  I tried the steps listed, and both commands (posted here, and sent to me directly by Express VPN support), and still unable to connect on my Mac Mini running OS X 10.8.2, but I am able to connect on my iPad and my MacBook which is running Mac OS X 10.6.8.  Usually Express VPN is spot on with their customer support, but this is taking longer to get resolved.  Here is the steps sent to me
Try doing the following to see if the problem gets resolved:
Please follow the instructions here: https://www.expressvpn.org/support/setting_dns_servers_mac_os
(should still be the same for Lion) and then add the following DNS servers: 8.8.8.8 & 208.67.222.220. After adding the DNS servers, please do the following steps as well:
Note: If you're connecting to your ISP via a PPPoE connection, then set the DNS servers on the PPPoE connection itself and then restart your computer for the DNS settings to take effect.
    1. Click on Applications
    2. Click on Utilities
    3. Click on Terminal
    4. Type the following command (without the quotes): "sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder"
    5. Press enter and then try reconnecting to the VPN.
If you're still unable to connect, please send us in the latest log files.
Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

  • Error message - Network connection was refused!!!

Every time I try to access iTunes music store I get this error:
"iTunes could nopt connect to the Music Store. The network connection was refused. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network conection is active, then try again."
My network connections are fine, the firewall is ok, all other internet pages work ok. This just started hapenning when I downloaded the newest version 6.0.2.23.
    What is the deal here?
    Thanks!

  • (nQSError:10018) Access for the requested connection is refused

    Hi Techies,
    Good Afternoon!!!
Recently I faced a problem when I tried to view the data of my table in PHYSICAL LAYER
(nQSError:10018) Access for the requested connection is refused
(nQSError: 43037) Invalid Catalog, SupplierSales, specified.
I did check my config file, every thing is proper. Even in NQSERVER log file it is showing that Finished Loading with out error.
Same with the case of Answers. When I tried to login with administrator, it is throwing the same error as in RPD.
I am unable to figure out the problem.

Check you System DSN , ODBC > System DSN > AnalyticsWeb
Make sure you have NOT enabled the "Change default repository to" or "Change default catalog to" as SupplierSales in either.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

  • LDAP : Access for the requested connection is refused.

    Hi
After successfully connected to ldap server through OBI rpd , I imported the users and created init. blocs and variables.
But when logging into dashborad/Answers i am getting the following error :
    Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC
State: 08004. Code: 10018. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: 08004] [nQSError: 10018] Access for the requested connection is refused. [nQSError: 13024] Successful completion of init block 'oidAuthentication' is required. (08004).
    Pls. help.

RPD users got preference over LDAP users i.e if you have a user with same name in RPD and LDAP, then RPD authentication will take place and not the LDAP authentication.
Now if you are importing all the users from LDAP to RPD, then LDAP authentication will not take place and creating INIT block for the same will through an error when trying to login to Presentation services (if Required for Authentiaction is checked).
    Workaround
You can create groups in your LDAP and assign all your users to these groups.
Import groups to RPD and do group level authorization.
Do not import users to RPD and create INIT block for LDAP authentication.

  • ITMS error "network connection was refused"

Whenever I click the search button to the right of certain songs in my itunes library to send me to their page in the music store, I get an error pop up saying "Network Connection was refused". But I can still enter the music store using the main link in itunes. These songs also won't retrieve their Album art (especially the Comic relief tracks) when I select the option in the menu once they are in my library. This problem only seems to occur with a hand full of songs.
Any ideas on how to fix this would be most appreciated.

  • Error: Server accepted your connection, but refused your privilege to record?

    Hi guys,
I'm developing an EJB application with Glassfish and Adobe Flash Media Server and MySQL at the backend. I have a page in my application with which I record a feedback of the user. I'm using the Adobe Media Flash server for this. I've set my host path to rtmp://localhost:1935/ as the flash server is installed on my local machine. This is an old discussion which was left unanswered due to long subject line. If this is resolved, please close the discussion.
This error you mentioned is coming as you do not have connectivity to BO server from your local system. The missing data is that part which are not being fetched by the connections in the dashboard. Still you may be able to see some data as those are probably dummy data used by the developer while creating the dashboard and not cleared from excel model before exporting.

Since I updated to the newest version of iTunes I have had this error message:
"iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. The network connection was refused. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network correction is active, then try again."
Is this most likely a problem with the functioning of my Norton Internet Security 2007 with the new iTunes software?

  • ITunes could not connect to iTunes Store. The network connection was refused

I'm getting the following error message when I try to access the iTunes store: "iTunes could not connect to iTunes Store. The network connection was refused."
I have tried to change my DNS settings. I've also run the msconig prompt. Nothing seems to work. Do you have any suggestions? Please help. It would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks.

i have been having this same problem. it also seems like a ton of folks are. i think apple has dropped a huge ball on this one. luckily ther are MANY other places now to purchase music other than itunes. i think their business will fail unless they get on top of issues like this.

  • ITunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. Network Connection was refuse

I'm getting this error which I'm sure that many people are familiar with. "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. Network Connection was refused" It was working perfectly fine on 9.1 even with my Norton security on. I upgraded to 9.2 and all of a sudden getting this message. I tried:
    - Completely removing and reinstalling iTunes.
    - Tried the Terminal solution
    - Removed Norton suite
    - Checked proxy settings
    - Added application to firewall settings to allow incoming connections.
    - Ran disk Utility to repair permissions
Still no luck. Any other suggestions that I could try to resolve this pain in a** issue?

Also tried connecting via Ethernet. Still no luck.

  • ITunes cannot connect to the store, connection was refused

I have used iTunes and the same iPod successfully for 2 years. A few days ago, I attempted to purchase a song in the iTunes store and it said I had to upgrade to iTunes 7.5 first. I did that and my library and songlists are fine but it says I can't connect to the iTunes Music Store; Network Connection refused. I have not changed any firewall settings. I've searched the internet and can't find any solutions. HELP! I am on Windows XP, I have checked Proxy settings, Windows firewall, I can connect to any other website. Any suggestions?

i have the exact same problem.
i have contacted the support staff and they didnt help.
on mine, the problem was that itunes had changed the network device when downloading the new itunes.
---this can be seen by running diagnostics (itunes>help>run diagnostics), then comparing the network device found to your usual one (start>connect to> show all connections--- see the difference?)-----
i tried to disable the unused network device (aka connection) make sure that the one you want is defalt, then reinstall itunes.
---disabling the unused network device is tricky, you have to go on Properties and click about.---
although the connection for me is now correct, it is still not connecting.
none of the dns flushing and firewall allowances work.
this i think is a new problem that apple is not picked up on, people need to email the support team and ring up.
hope it sort of helped, but its still not working!

  • Virtual Console connection - System refused connection

I have setup a few CSR 1000v routers on an ESXi 5.1 server
I have followed the instructions to enable the virtual serial port
I enabled the virtual serial port in the Firewall of esxi
However when I connect to the virtual serial port telnet://esxiip:2001
I get "The remote system refused the connection"
Do I need to configure anything on the router to make this work?
    Thanks
    Roger

    Roger,
It depends on whether you've previously booted the CSR1000V.  If you did not select the serial console at the GRUB menu on the first boot you must configure platform console serial, save the config and reboot.  Here is a reference to the config guide:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/csr1000/software/configuration/csr1000Vswcfg/csrboot.html#pgfId-1307796
    Hope that helps,
    Nick
