Connection to AIM / Hostname is not valid

Hi - since a couple of days I have a strange problems: connecting to AIM does work only in 3 out of 10 tries. Without changing a setting, the connection sometimes works but most times it says "Host name is not valid". That is crazy. When I enter an incorrect pasword - it is detected immediately - so there is a connection to AIM. What could be the reason? I tried everything, other conncetion ports (443 instead of 5160..). But the situation is still the same: 7 out 10 connection fail...
Any Ideas?
Regards
Mario

Hi Mario f,
It sounds like AIM are updating their servers.
This can lock you out completely for a while and happens regularly around thsi time of year.

    Thanks Slds.
I just re-ran the HLM package using the following procedure:
    1) download SAPHANALM06_0-10012745.SAR
    2) copy SAPHANALM06_0-10012745.SAR to the /tmp/hanainstdir/hlm_install
    3) Ensure SAPHOSTAGENT is above level 149, advisable to update it to the latest level. Level 153 till today.
    4) go to the extracted temp directory and run ./hdbinst
Just click enter when prompt if you are running single Hana Database.

i have been getting the above message when i try to connect to ichat since about mid december. after trying up to 10 times it usually at the end connects fine (without me changing anything).
does anyone have an idea what might be going on ?
    thanks !

    oh boy.
afraid we need something bigger than a stick..
changed to login.glogin.messaging.com but then got no connection at all("connection timed out"). deleting com.apple.ichat.AIM.plist unfortunately did not help either.
have now gone back to login.oscar.aol.com and managed to log in with the 3rd try...
yesterday by the way my ichat connected with the 1st try - i already thought there would have been something weird at the aim server end, which they finally would have solved. but no such luck..
    bugger !

Can anyone give me a clue why this happens and how to sort out
    regards,

Anywhere in your code that calls Connecton.close(). He means (I believe) that your code may have a condition that causes it to call close() before it's done with the connection.
How are you acquiring the connection? Is it acquired and released in the same block of code or do you store it somewhere assumming it will be there when you need it?

  • Flat file connection: The file name "\server\share\path\file.txt" specified in the connection was not valid

I'm trying to execute a SSIS package via SQL agent with a flat file source - however it fails with Code: 0xC001401E The file name "\server\share\path\file.txt" specified in the connection was not valid.
It appears that the problem is with the rights of the user that's running the package (it's a proxy account). If I use a higher-privelege account (domain admin) to run the package it completes successfully. But this is not a long-term solution, and I can't
see a reason why the user doesn't have rights to the file. The effective permissions of the file and parent folder both give the user full control. The user has full control over the share as well. The user can access the file (copy, etc) outside the SSIS
    package.
Running the package manually via DTExec gives me the same error - I've tried 32 and 64bit versions with the same result. But running as a domain admin works correctly every time.
I feel like I've been beating my head against a brick wall on this one... Is there some sort of magic permissions, file or otherwise, that are required to use a flat file target in an SSIS package?

    Hi Rossco150,
I have tried to reproduce the issue in my test environment (Windows Server 2012 R2 + SQL Server 2008 R2), however, everything goes well with the permission settings as you mentioned. In my test, the permissions of the folders are set as follows:
    \\ServerName\Temp  --- Read
    \\ServerName\Temp\Source  --- No access
    \\ServerName\Temp\Source\Flat Files --- Full control
I suspect that your permission settings on the folders are not absolutely as you said above. Could you double check the permission settings on each level of the folder hierarchy? In addition, check the “Execute as user” information from job history to make
sure the job was running in the proxy security context indeed. Which version of SSIS are you using? If possible, I suggest that you install the latest Service Pack for you SQL Server or even install the latest CU patch.

  • P6 user name is not valid for connecting to the reporting database

No data is available because your P6 user name is not valid for connecting to the reporting database
I am getting above error in the following environment:
P6 running on wls instance 1.
BI Publisger running on wls instance 2
    MS SQL server 2005
Note that the error appears when I clink on the 'Reports' tab in P6. My admin user on P6 has access to report/analyser modules.
To connect P6 to BI Publisher I am using 'PxRptUser' in the P6 configuration for Bi Publisher. I know as well that the WSDL URL is correct and I can test this in SoapUI tool.
In BI publisher I have created the PMDB data source using PxRprUser, and the test of this connection works.
(Because the report samples come with Oracle flavoured SQL that SQL server does not like, I have configured BI Publisher so I have just a single report left that sources it data from an xml file. This works in BI Publisher. It also helps me in that I do not need to add 'WHERE' clauses and parameters required for SQL server?)
Furthermore, using a DB tool, I can connect to my SQL server using PxRPTUser.
So why do I get the error above?
I picked up somewhere that I should not be adding users to BI Publisher. Funny enough, testing the 'login' method the BI Publisher exposes through its WSDL (as above) I noticed I HAD to create the user PxRptUser in BI publisher application itself (on top of PxRptUser in database) for the login web service to work with PxRptUser
That did not solve the connection between P6 and BI Publisher though. What am I missing ...
    Edited by: user3674522 on 10/11/2011 20:16

Thought I found something but can't repliacte, som issue is still there:
Had a look at the wls instance logs where BI publisher is running, and the error I get is:
    111111_023646955][][ERROR] javax.naming.NamingException: Unresolved naming: cn=admin, dc=user, dc=users, dc=principals at [cn=admin]
That user, admin, is the one I have used to access P6. Why is this passed on to BI Publisher? I thought the idea was that the PxRptUser set in BI Publisher configurations in P6 would be used?

  • Destroying connection that is not valid, due to the following exception [com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Connection reset]

    Hi everyone,
I'm facing the following problem in a Server runing Linux with JBoss AS 4.2.2, JRE 1.6, and MSSQL Server 2005 with JDBC 2.0 (sqljdbc4.jar).
The thing is: on friday morning I started up the server and everything worked fine ... next, from Friday at 6pm to Saturday at 8am nobody has used the system.
Then on Saturday at 8:05 got the following warning lines every time I tried to do something in my application. While it seems that everything works, after a few days the system starts to decrease their performance and malfunction, so I want to know why it
    might happen these warnings.
I have tried to find a solution to this problem in several places but I'm not succeeding. That's why I'm writing my problem here...
    Hope somebody can help me!
Thanks in advance and best regards!

I´m facing similar problem with Linux and SQL Server 2008 R2. I made the downgrade of JDK 1.6 from 27 to 26 (some people reporting errors when upgraded to jdk1.6_29 and rolling back is ok) but for me the error persists. At this moment we are testing with
sqljdbc4.jar version 4.0 (released in 3/6/2012). The curious I have two equals Linux boxes and only one have presented connection reset errors.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Could not connect to AIM

    Hi everybody,
I have been having a problem connecting to the AIM server for iChatAV for the past few days, and have read through the various discussion forums but I still cannot solve the problem. The full error is "Could not connect to AIM: The connection to the host was unexpectedly lost."
I have tried to change the firewall settings on the Netgear router, I have tried to connect directly using the Motorola modem, still nothing.
I also have my laptop with ichat installed which worked a couple of weeks back...this also fails, so this leads me to believe that it may be a network configuration problem that I have. The ISP assures me that this is not the case, and the Apple helpdesk are also stumped. Any ideas?

    Hi,
Apparently there has been a problem with .mac accounts and the link to the AIM Servers. This has caused some people problems with logging on to the AIM network.
One though occures to me at this stage. Does the password for your .mac account have more than 16 characters ?
If it does reduce to it to at the most 16. .mac can have over 20 characters to the password but AIM only allows 16 Max.
If this is not the problem go here http://www.apple.com/support/dotmac/ and report the problem.

  • Could not connect to AIM. Change port doesn't help !

I have been using ichat for about three months without any problems.
It is tonight (22/10/06) that I cannot login while I was able to connect to the server in this morning. Nothing has changed in my router configuration.
The error message is "Could not connect to AIM. The specified host cannot be located.
I did search the forum here. The suggested solution is to change ichat port to 443 or 5191. It does not work for me.
At first I thought the server was busy. But I changed my mind since my friend can login.
My internet connection works normally. Nothing seems broken.
Oh another thing is both my username before @mac and passwords is 9 characters.
    Please help.
    Macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Hi Omegaxxx,
At this stage I would try this.
    Down load IPNetMonmitorX
It is free as a trail for a number of days.
Get it to do Port Scans on the UDP ports that iChat uses.
Do these one at a time for Ports 5060, 5190 and 5678 and then repeat for the group of twenty (16384-16403)
Now test it for TCP port Scans. (just port 5190 for AIM/@mac)
This will be the one to tell if the Login is working or not.
Repeat for any other port you have tried iChat to login with. (The AIM servers will allow login on almost any port: 443 is regarded as more secure as it is used for some Mail apps)
You will need to test to a specific IP address.
Use the ones listed by Ryan above.
If you are on a University or other large campus like a large business it may be that they have blocked the ports at a fairly local level.
If you opened the ports in your connection device with Port Forwarding and it is also using DHCP then check your computer is at the same IP that the Port Forwarding is pointing to.

  • Validation URI: hostname could not be parsed

    Hi there,
I freshly installed a new BPC 7.0 SP04 environment (Windows 2003, SQL Server 2008). Everything seems to work fine except in BPC for Excel where I constantly receive this "Validation URI: hostname could not be parsed". The data manager also failed to launch jobs. It returns an empty msg box.
    However the data retrieve works.
Any suggestion to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Regis

I actually figured it out. It was due to a special setting in Parallels, a virtual machine software that I use to run Windows on my laptop.
The profile sharing setting should be disabled.

  • CWMS hostnames are not treated as valid subject alternate names for a public certificate

    Hi,
I have a problem to get s public certificate for my CWMS Server 2.0
fqdn for public vip is "meet.company.de"
But the fqdn hostnames for admin and media vm are "admin.company.corp"
The public certification authority does not accept our CSR because the Subject Alternate Name xxxx.company.corp ist not valid
Any ideas how we can proceed? Wildcard certificate is not an option.

    Hello,
There are couple of things you can try to do:
    1. Change the Certification Authority. At least until November 2015, CAs should accept internal company domains and provide SSL certs for them. Not sure what CA you are trying to use, but I've seen Verisign, GoDaddy, Entrust, etc. providing SSL certs for internal domain names (using SAN certs)
    2. Change the FQDNs of your internal VMs. You would need to ensure you configure "company.de" zone in your internal DNS, create DNS entries for all the internal VMs, Private VIP and Admin and WebEx Site for "company.de" domain, and then perform the hostname change on CWMS for all the VMs and Admin site. You can change the VMs hostnames if you go to CWMS Dashboard > System > View More, and by clicking on each VM you will get an option to change the hostname. If the hostname is defined in DNS and resolves to the same IP address as the original hostname, the entry will be properly updated. (NOTE: don't change the IP addresses if not really needed. If needed, take a look at the instructions here) . Once you modified all the hostnames, you can generate new CSR (SAN) and you will get valid internal VM hostnames and your CA will be able to issue you a certificate.
    3. If you end up using the same domain name on all the VMs and VIPs, you may consider wildcard certs (not sure why the are not the option in your case).
This is all that you can do when it comes to this issue.
I hope any of this will help.
