Connection to tomcat server

Hello all,
I would like to deploy my application with Jdeveloper 11 to tomcat server. For that I created a new connection to my tomcat server, but it says after opening the deplyments in the tree of Application Server Navigator: Connection Error
What is this connection error? Where can I check the reason of it? What can be teh reason of that?
The tomcat is different machine. I am connected to the file system via samba share.
What is needed to be configured in the remote machine to be reachable from jdeveloper?
Thanks,
Csaba

We are not making a JSR-160 connection to Tomcat in JDeveloper 11g, thus the ability to expand the nodes within the Application Server Navigator and perform any interaction is non-existent. We only expose the web application directory location so that archive files can be copied for the Tomcat server deployment. The Tomcat support is thus limited. Once the application is deployed you'll want to use the Tomcat console for further interaction.

    >> ODBC Driver Manager ... Data source name not found
    That appears to be ODBC drivers looking for a DSN (Data Set Name). If it wants a DSN, the DSN has to be specified in the code, and the DSN has to be configured in the windows host ODBC applet. So that is at least two squirrels to get in the right tree before moving forward. A ...host:...[port:]SID|service name are some of the bits needed in a jdbc connect string, and that is in no way related to DSNs. A Whole Different Animal. If it wants a DSN that might be what needs to go in the URL bit.
    And ODBC setups can be confusing, especially if an x64 OS is in the mix- if that is the case there are two different ODBC configuration applets, one for x64 the other for x86, and if one gets as far as talking to an actual database it might toss an architecture error. Only way to fix that "problem" is *delete* the ODBC DSN and then run the correct (maybe the x86) ODBC config utility, and set up the DSN. Again.

  • I cannot connect to my Tomcat server

    Hello all,
    I'm trying to set up an Apache Tomcat server for school on my home computer. When I check my IP address on ipconfig/all, I get:
    192.168.1.47
    which I can use to connect to my Tomcat server, like so: http:/192.168.1.47:8080. However, when I tried this on another computer, it didn't work. My firewalls (both ZoneAlarm and WIndows) are shut off, as well as the firewall of my modem. As far as my computer is concerned, it's set up with a static IP address (the one above).
    My computer connects to a DSL Modem, a Westell Model 2200. Also, when I check my IP address on whatsmyip.org, I get 129.44.83.130, which also work at home or elsewhere.
    I realize this has been discussed on other threads, but I have tried many of the suggestions to no avail. I suspect that I have to set up something in my modem's settings, but I have no clue where.
    Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated, as I need to get this working for school.

    I thought addresses that start with 192.168.xxx.xxx aren't visible to routers outside an intranet. no outside router can see that address, because it never appears in its routing tables.
    the problem isn't with tomcat; it has to do with ignorance of TCP/IP and networking:
    http://support.microsoft.com/?id=164015
    From http://www.wown.com/j_helmig/tcpip.htm:
    "Even if a network is NOT connected to the Internet, it has become custom to use on private networks a range of IP-addresses, which are reserved for private networks (that makes it later possible to connect your private network to the Internet without having to re-configure everything). The reserved IP-address is: 192.168.x.y, where x=same number on all systems and y=different/unique number on all systems."

  • TOMCAT SERVER CONNECTED TO LOAD BALANCER

    Hi ,
    scenario:
    Tomcat server addedd to the load balancer for performance .
    Q&A:
    We have added  tomcat(new server) to load balancer,now all the services are up and running,but i want to know the validation of how the new server added to the cluster  will have the connections via load balancer to this server. is there any simple way where by we can go by looking at some logs, or load, or connection statistics for the Tomcat server whilst users connect.
    please gurus can you help,
    1.HOW TO VALIDATE THE LB IS WORKING FINE .
    2.TOMCAT SERVICES VIA LB (CONNECTION)
    3.OTHER VALIDATION TO BE CONSIDERED.
    Regards,

    SAP Business Objects really cannot verify if your load balancer is working fine, you should take that up with your load balancer manufacturer or IT folks that manage it.
    When using a load balancer with business objects deployment on tomcat you should enable session persistance (this is mandatory in XIR2) and may be needed in some circumstances in XI 3.x.
    A little trick I've seen customers do is to change an image file in the deployment to have a #1 or 2 or 3 or... depending on the tomcat server, this way they could tell which server the load balancer was redirecting to. To do this right click the image when accessing tomcat (to get it's location in the deployment) and simply edit with MS paint or favorite image editor (back up the original 1st just in case...)

    Tim

    I'd recommend that you not use the JDBC-ODBC bridge driver to connect to SQL Server. M$ and jTDS are two free type IV JDBC drivers that you should use instead. Put those JARs in the WEB-INF/lib directory.
    The database URL you're using is not correct if you change drivers. Consult the docs to find out what the proper syntax is.

  • How can I  connect to SQL server database thru local network by using JSP?

    I'm currently doing a project by using JSP..And I need to display record from the SQL Server database in our school's local network. May I know how can I do that? How can I write the code so that I can able to access the SQL Server databsase Throught school's network by using JSP? Please tell me step by step how can I do that. I'm using Tomcat 4.1 as Web Server. And I had J2SE and J2EE installed in my computer.

    first you have to establish a ODBC DSN on your computer,
    that connects to the database...you can do that from your control pannel.
    i assume that the TOMCAT server is residing on your computer....(if the webserver is in other computer then you would have to create a System DSN on the data sources ODBC option in the settings>control pannel of that machine)
    then you can use that DSN name to connect to the data base from the class file....for further assistance on how to create the class that access the tutorials in sun site.

  • Write Access to a file in Tomcat server via J2me Midlet

    How to make write access to a file using midlet and HTTP connection?
    I have text file in the Tomcat server and I am able to read it with HTTP connection using emulator, but don't have idea how to make write access to the file. I'd like to write some text to the file.

    Thanks, but could you be more accurate. What methods should I use in the servlet and what methods in the midlet?
    Some links which concern this subject, would be nice too. I have tried with google, no success.

    There is no guideline I know of as this depends on the app itself.
    What you should do is to deploy the application onto a test server and check the metrics of the app over a defined period of time with a defined amount of traffic.

    Edited by: sandy on Nov 9, 2010 8:59 AM

    java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00904: "SANDY": invalid identifier
    Looks like the sql you are submitting is invalid.
    Print out a copy of the sql you are trying to run and you will probably get:
    SELECT * FROM OURUSERS WHERE usr = Sandy and password = secretThat isn't valid sql. It is missing quotes around the values you are checking.
    This is the corrected sql query:
    SELECT * FROM OURUSERS WHERE usr = 'Sandy' and password = 'secret'so one solution would be:
    String sql = "SELECT * FROM OURUSERS WHERE usr = '" + user + "' and password = '" + pwd + "' ";However that is not optimal. It exposes your code to sql injection attack.
    The better way is to use a prepared statement:
    String sql = "SELECT * FROM OURUSERS WHERE usr = ? and password =?";
    st = con.prepareStatement(sql);
    st.setString(1, user);
    st.setString(2, password);
    rs = st.executeQuery();cheers,

    Thank you for your answer.Yes my servlet class is something more worse than horrible(i don't use the database connection correct i don't use the MVC pattern i use out.println() ) but i just tried to take a ready example and try to understand .So i write this servlet myself as a starting point :
    package org.DB;
    import javax.servlet.ServletException;
    import javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet;
    import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest;
    import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.sql.*;
    public class DBServlet extends HttpServlet {
        private Connection conn ;
        private Statement stat ;
        private ResultSet rs ;
        private int counter;
        String driver = "com.mysql.jdbc.Driver";
        String dbURL = "jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/phonebookdb?user=**********&password=************";
        @Override
    public void init() {
         try {
                Class.forName(driver).newInstance();
                conn = DriverManager.getConnection(dbURL);
         }catch(Exception e) {
                  e.printStackTrace();
                  System.err.print("Unable to make connection ");
        protected void processRequest(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
        throws ServletException, IOException {
            response.setContentType("text/html;charset=UTF-8");
            PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
            try {
                out.println("<html>");
                out.println("<head>");
                out.println("<title>Servlet DBServlet</title>");
                out.println("</head>");
                out.println("<body>");
                out.println("<h1>Servlet DBServlet at " + request.getContextPath () + "</h1>");
                out.println("<br /><br /><br />");
                if(conn!=null)
                    out.println("conn object : "+conn);
                out.println("</body>");
                out.println("</html>");
            } catch(Exception sq) {
                System.out.println("Exception" + sq.getMessage());
                out.close();
        @Override
        protected void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
        throws ServletException, IOException {
            processRequest(request, response);
        @Override
        protected void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
        throws ServletException, IOException {
            processRequest(request, response);
         public void destroy() {
         try {
             conn.close();
         } catch (SQLException sqle) {
             sqle.printStackTrace();
        @Override
        public String getServletInfo() {
            return "A Simple Servlet";
    }And it work for now.
