How do i Connect Developer 6.0 with Oracle8i ?
When i am installing Developer 6.0 it takes a different Oracle Home Directory not the Oracle Database Home Directory and it shifts the path of the BIN directory to the newly installed Developer Directory.
After the installation a different client is been installed in the Windows 2000 Advanced Server named as Oracle for Windows NT.
I could not access neither Oracle Client nor the Developer after the installation system.

    Then apparently it's still not getting the OS settings right; try to add these to \sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.conf (maybe region is enough):

    AddVMOption -Duser.region=USHope that helps,

  • Is it Possible to connect oracle 10g with oracle forms 11g?

    Hi,
       I have installed Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 and Oracle 11g forms and reports....
    My question is
    Whether i can develop application using oracle forms 11g and using oracle 10g as backend connection......
    If Possible then how to configure it......
    Thanks.

    That would depend on the exact version of Forms 11g you are referring to;
    this document: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/oracle-forms-111210certmatrix-1886127.xls
    is for forms 11.1.2.1 and indicates database 10.2.0.4 is certified with this version of forms. For other Forms versions this might be different (I don't know as I didn't look it up).
    You whould do the SQL*Net config like you'd do it on any other oracle client:
    Tnsnames.ora - Oracle FAQ
    Sqlnet.ora - Oracle FAQ
    except for reports where in the opmn.xml the TNS_ADMIN variable is set for the reports servers; so you'd have to place your config files under $INSTANCE_HOME/config as well.
    TNS ADMIN - Oracle FAQ

  • Unable to Connect Oracle 7 with Data Services 3.2

    Hi All,
    I am incredibly facing an issues with Oracle 7 connecting with Data Services 3.2. with Native client drivers (TNS Names).
    The client legacy application is on Oracle 7, they are moving the data from legacy to SAP ECC. My role is to transfer the data from Oracle 7 to SAP ECC, We are using Data Services 3.2 for conversion. This Data Services 3.2 is not connecting with Oracle 7 by using oracle native drivers (TNS Names).
    I am able to connect Oracle 8 client with SQL *Plus, but with Data Services its not connecting, I am able create Data Store but when try to import the table the error message I am getting like "ORA-24316: Illegal handle Type"
    Is there any other solution for this to connect, or Is Data Services 3.2 will not connect to Oracle 7 since its older version.
    Please reply with your thoughts, or with some solution.
    Appreciate your prompt reply. Many thanks.

    Hi Paul,
    Currently I am using ODBC connection to read the data from legacy Oracle7, but ODBC is very very slow, queries are taking hours to fetch the data. Is there any other solution by chance... I read that DataDirect is the one can connect to any versions of oracle and its bit faster, is that true. Please clarify me. If that is the solution where can I get this DataDirect drivers for oracle 7? Please advice me.
    Thank  You,
    Ashok

  • Connecting Oracle 8i with JDBC

    Hi Friends,
    I am facing a problem while doing a connection to my DB which is ORACLE 8i with JDBC communication channels thorugh xi.
    I am getting an error "Error during database connection to the database URL 'jdbc:oracle:thin:@hostname:ORCL' using the JDBC driver 'oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver': 'com.sap.aii.adapter.jdbc.sql.DriverManagerException: Cannot establish connection to URL 'jdbc:oracle:thin:@hostname:ORCL': SAPClassNotFoundException: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"
    In one of the SAP notes:867176 its mentioned .....
    3. Which JDBC driver version is certified to connect to which database version?
                  From the Oracle side:
                  The Oracle 10g JDBC drivers are certified to work with currently-supported versions of the database.
                  JDBC 8i/9i Thin drivers are certified to work with supported (previous) versions of the database.
                  Existing and supported JDBC drivers are certified to work with Oracle Database 10g.
                  From the SAP side:
                  SAP only supports homogeneus setups. The oracle driver major version must match the database major version, and the driver version must not be smaller than the database version.
                  SAP does not support Oracle 8i drivers.
    Is it not possible to connect to my DB?  Is SAP supports the connection to 8i oracle database? any idea,,,
    Regards,
    Sunil.

    Hi,
    Following is the connection string that we are currently using for connecting to Oracle 8i.
    This setting has been working for us. give it a try.
    connection string : jdbc:oracle:oci8:userid/password@server
    Note that this connection string is only if you use the Oracle OCI driver. The OCI driver requires a shared library or DLL on the server.
    The thin driver for Oracle is more commonly used as it doesn't require any additional libraries. The connection string is as already listed above:
    jdbc.oracle.thin:@server:port:SID
    There is no need to put the user and password into the connection string in the adapter config, putting it into the user and password fields works just fine.

  • Connecting Oracle DB with SQL server

    I need to connect an Oracle Data Base to a SQL Server throught a BPEL process. Somebody knows about a TUTORIAL or maybe other guide.....pls this is urgent.
    Thanks

    Reading you post, I asssume you want to select data from an Oracle database and pass this information to a BPEL processs. This process will store the data into a SQL Server database.
    Create BPEL process, with two partner links, using the DB adapater. One partner link is using the Oracle databas, the other one SQL Server.
    Therefore you must add/change your oc4j-ra.xml, to add an Oracle DB connection and an SQL Server connection: The file can be found at
    $ORACLE_HOME\j2ee\OC4J_BPEL\application-deployments\default\DbAdapter
         <connector-factory location="eis/DB/SampleSQLServerConnection" connector-name="Database Adapter">
              <config-property name="driverClassName" value="com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver"/>
              <config-property name="connectionString" value="jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://localhost\\sql2000:1433;SelectMethod=cursor;databasename=NAME"/>
              <config-property name="userName" value="NAME"/>
              <config-property name="password" value="password"/>
              <config-property name="minConnections" value="5"/>
              <config-property name="maxConnections" value="5"/>
              <config-property name="minReadConnections" value="1"/>
              <config-property name="maxReadConnections" value="1"/>
              <config-property name="usesExternalConnectionPooling" value="false"/>
              <config-property name="dataSourceName" value=""/>
              <config-property name="usesExternalTransactionController" value="false"/>
              <config-property name="platformClassName" value="oracle.toplink.internal.databaseaccess.SQLServerPlatform"/>
              <config-property name="usesNativeSequencing" value="true"/>
              <config-property name="sequencePreallocationSize" value="50"/>
              <config-property name="tableQualifier" value=""/>
              <config-property name="defaultNChar" value="false"/>
              <config-property name="usesBatchWriting" value="true"/>

    Hi everybody,
    I install oracle database 9i AS in:c:\ora9ias folder, with ora9ias database name.
    and I install oracle developer suite in c:\ora9ids, and both installation were successfull.
    in oracle with sql+, I connect with system/manager@ora9ias it's working,
    but when I work with forms, I have this error mesage:
    ORA-12154, can't resolve symbolique adresse TNS?

    best regards

    In Oracle 9i Release 2 onwards, passwords for SYS and SYSTEM are entered by you when you install Oracle 9i R2.
    In order to connect to SQL Plus via Host String, e.g. ora9i
    User name: sys
    Password: YOUR_NEW_PASSWORD (this is he actual password that you entered when you installed Oracle 9i)
    Host String: ora9i as sys

  • PROBLEM connect oracle 9i with JBOSS 3.2.3  application server

    i want to connect my web app to oracle9i by jboss3.2.3 .
    The database is on server machine in my domain and the application is on my local machine.
    Please help me is urgent
    Thanks

    To configure JBoss with Oracle dataabse.
    1. Copy Oracle's JDBC driver .zip file /jdbc/lib/classes12.zip to the server/default/lib directory.
    2. Copy /docs/examples/jca/oracle-ds.xml , to /server/default/deploy dir.
    3. In the oracle-ds.xml file set the <driver-class/> and <connection-url/> settings
    Class: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
    URL: jdbc:oracle:thin:@<host>:<port>:<database>
    In the Connection URL setting, <host> is the HOST value specified in the /network/ADMIN/tnsnames.ora file, and <port> is the PORT value specified in the tnsnames.ora file, and <database> is the database name.
    4.
    Modify the standardjbosscmp-jdbc.xml configuration file, setting the <datasource> and <datasource-mapping> elements to use Oracle:
    <jbosscmp-jdbc>
    <defaults>
    <datasource>java:/OracleDS</datasource>
    <datasource-mapping>Oracle9i</datasource-mapping>
    </defaults>
    </jbosscmp-jdbc>
    5.
    Modify login-config.xml to use Oracle. Add the following <application-policy> element to login-config.xml:
    <application-policy name = "OracleDbRealm">
    <authentication>
    <login-module code =
    "org.jboss.resource.security.ConfiguredIdentityLoginModule"
    flag = "required">

    </module-option>
    </login-module>
    </authentication>
    </application-policy>
