Console mode service pack install in 6.1
Hi,
I am trying to apply sp1 to WLS6.1 on solaris 2.8 in console mode
java -cp wls61sp1_upgrade_generic.zip install -i console
The above command goes through the choose locale step
It then says press <enter> to continue.
At the next point it should allow the bea home to be selected
but it displays the following and ends
PRESS <ENTER> TO CONTINUE:

WebLogic Server 6.1 not found
WebLogic Server Service Pack 1 Installation failed.
You do not seem to have WebLogic Server 6.1
installed for BEAHOME .

Any suggestions. I have run this from the /u01/bea directory
and the /u01/bea/wlserver6.1 directory with the same results
Many thanks

SQL server 2008 Service pack install with mirroring
Just looking for some official documentation about installing service pack 3 when I have a mirrored set up in high-safety mode with automatic failover.
I have found this,
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb677181%28v=sql.100%29.aspx would the same apply to the service packs as well?
ThanksHi,
Below is official doc applies from SS2005 to SS2012. Please follow this not what you have pasted

Outlook web login screen not displaying correctly on Exchange 2007 service pack install
Hello everyone,
I believe our exchange server installed a service pack 3 update and after rebooting the server, we noticed that the Outlook web access login screen is not displaying correctly. The page looks white with some black X's (I think that's where the
pictures/background images used to be). We tried to restart the ISS service with no luck. I would appreciate any help you guys can provide.
Thanks,
Brian KourdouHi,
I have seen this issue in another similar thread, that issue was solved by re-creating the OWA virtual directory.
Please try the following steps to solve this issue.
Open EMC, navigate to Server Configuration -> Client Access, under Outlook Web App tab, double-click owa (default web site) properties.
Then check InternalURL, ExternalURL, Forms-Based Authentication settings ect
Open EMS, use Get-OwaVirtualDirectory get the list of virtual directories and identify the directory which is giving the problem.
Remove it with this command
Remove-OwaVirtualDirectory “owa (Default Web Site)”
Now create it again with the following command
New-OwaVirtualDirectory -OwaVersion “Exchange2007″ -Name “owa (Default Web Site)”
Then configure the “owa” virtual directory settings like InternalURL, ExternalURL, Forms-Based Authentications etc… & check the OWA by logging with some test users.
Best Regards.

SQL Server Service Pack Install and SSRS Scale Out Environment
We have an error in our SSRS environment that looks to be addressed in SQL Server 2008 R2 SP3. Our set up is a scale out environment, 2 SSRS app servers and 1 SSRS database server. For simplicity as we are moving to 2012 soon, I would like to only install
the service pack on one of the SSRS app servers. Anyone aware of any reason besides keeping servers consistent to not do this? I don't want to go through the time to upgrade the SSRS SQL Server if I don't have to.
ThanksHello,
If you apply the service pack on the database server first, front-ends may not be able to provide service again until you
apply the SP to them too. I have no knowledge of other possible issue.
Remember to backup SSRS databases and encryption key before applying the service pack.
Hope this helps.

Crystal XI Service Pack - Install Recomendation
We are upgrading from Crystal 10 to Crystal XI (Release 1). Do we need to install all four service packs, or can we just install SP4?
Here's a link that lists the crystal version number with the associated service pack.
http://blog.crystalreportsbook.com/2008/04
I beleive the original version is the same as Release 1.
I use SP4 for release 1 on Crystal version 11.0.0.895 and it cleared up several problems. -
E-commerce service pack install
I am struggling to find documentation on how to install a service pack on a customized ISA e-commerce scenario.
The application has an NWDI track and I have the following SCAs ready for install.
SAPSHRAPP11P_11-20001151.SCA
SAPSHRJAV11P_11-10002938.SCA
SAPSHRWEB11P_11-10002937.SCA
If anyone could at least point me to the correct documentation I would very much appreciate it. Even better would be a step-by-step guide!!
Thanks in advance.
Craig
Edited by: Craig Morgan on Feb 27, 2008 6:14 PMSeriously though, someone must know the answer to this.
You spend a year customizing an application, make thousands of changes.... a service pack is implemented and pulled in to NWDI... when you have a look at the active version of, for instance, order.jsp from NWDS you see, of course, a whole new order.jsp with none of your modifications... right now you don't want to;
1: Synchronise in case you lose a years worth of work
2: Check-in incase you overwrite the service pack
How are service packs handled in this environment? Do SAP recommend sticking with the version you bought and never updating or is there a simple way around this?
Thanks again,
Patrick. -
Delete service pack install directory
Hi, I want to clean up my pc.
Can I delete SP1 install dir:
C:\e4a19a58e88bb52bfb6dbd7aff
it contains a file named:
spinstall.exe
Thanks! The best and safest way to do this is to use the Disk Space Cleanup Manager, cleanmgr.exe. You can access it by opening the Windows Explorer, right click on your system drive, usually the C: drive, and select Properties, then click on Disk Cleanup.
When Disk Cleanup is done the Disk Cleanup for Win 7 will pop up and list everything that can be cleaned off the HDD. Scroll down and select to cleanup the Service Pack files.
Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread. ” -
ApShell database rebuilt after each service pack installed ??
Hello,
Could someone please lets me know if the apshell database sample is rebuilt during an upgrade with a service pack or not ?
If so, is it rebuilt because the apshell changes with the service packs ?
Thank you in advance.
Lionel.Hello,
Thank you very much for this answer, that confirms what I thought.
I fact, I have a problem with the installation of Service Pack in BPC 7.0 for MS.
During each upgrade, I encounter an error :
Update Sample Database: Error
and
Update Sample OLAP Database: Error
Than I manage to create manually the apshell using the ApShell.db9.
What can be the root cause of this issue ?
I have 2 servers : 1 BPC server and 1 SQL server. I used the SysAdmin user for the upgrade. This account is a domain user having administration rights on the SQL Server.
Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Exchange 2010 recovery after a failed service pack install
Hi all,
I have a question on Exchange 2010 SP3 installation and hope someone can help.
If the installation for some reason failed, Microsoft's article said one can use "setup /m:recoverserver" to recover Exchange. My question is if Exchange 2010 is to be recovered on the SAME server, do I still need to reset the computer account
in AD first?
Thanks in advance. If you do not recover the OS on the system, you needn't reset the computer account. I'll caution you, though, that if you intend to re-install Exchange onto the same server without reloading the OS, you are running the risk of having the same problem
happen again. For safety's sake, recover the OS and reset the computer account.
When we upgraded one of our servers to SP2, we had a failure in the install, and Exchange was effectively wiped from the system. We had to do just what you are asking about - and we reloaded the servers, from the ground up. It's been working
fine since then, including when we just upgraded from SP2 to SP3 (UR5, in case anyone wants to know). -
WLS Console should show service pack #
The title says it all, IMHO the console should
indicate the service pack installed (and activated)
in the version string of the server.
I know that I could find out about it with:
java weblogic.Admin t3://host:port VERSION
But it is much more convenient if I do not have to
remember this statement;-)
Thanks

"Requirements: Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2"
I do not yet own an IPod Nano, but I am planning on buying one. The question that I need to know is about the wording of the requirements for Windows XP. It says XP Home or Pro with Service Pack 2, but I don't know whether that means it requires Windows XP Home (without SP2) or Windows XP Pro with SP2; or if it requires Windows XP Home or Pro, both needing SP2 installed. I have XP Home with no Service Pack installed, and do not want to install it due to a conflict it has with another program that I use on my computer. If anyone could help me with this, thank you very much. Also, if you have Windows XP Home, please post if your IPod Nano is working and if you have SP2 or not. Thank you.
Don't worry, you can install iTunes on Windows 7. Just make sure the recipient knows to download the correct version of the installer.

Different service packs in admin server and managed server
Hi,
Has anybody successfully used a WebLogic 6.1 SP1 managed server that
connects to a WebLogic 6.1 SP 2 admin server?
BEA's docs claim:
"The Administration Server must be running the same version of
WebLogic Server as the Managed Servers in its domain. The
Administration Server must also have the same or later service pack
installed as the Managed Servers in its domain. For example, the
Administration Server could be running version 6.1, Service Pack 2
while the Managed Servers are running version 6.1, Service Pack 1."
This is precisely what we want to do, but it's not working. In this
case, we need to run the admin server and managed server on the same
machine, but we need the managed server to run SP 1 to work around a
bug in SP 2. So to our initial installation of WebLogic 6.1 SP 2,
where I run the admin server, I added a second installation, this time
WebLogic 6.1 SP 1, with a different BEA_HOME. When I start the
managed server from this second installation, I can see from the logs
that it is starting up correctly as 6.1 SP 1. But then it fails with
a ClassCastException when connecting to the admin server (I have
included the stack trace below). This seems typical of version
compatibility problems I've had when I've tried connecting to a server
with a client of a different version.
But in this case, you are supposed to be able to have the managed
server with a lower service pack. Does this work for anybody? Has
anybody encountered the problem I'm having? Note that the servers are
not clustered, if that makes any difference, and we have a custom
security realm in addition to the default file realm (though "system"
of course is in the default file realm).
Thanks in advance for any help,
Jim Doyle

BPC 7.5 MS Service Pack
Hi All,
I'm looking for the service pack installed in our BPC server.
In the Server Manager, i have version 7.5 104. Can anyone tell me which service pack it is?
Thanks,
LiamHi Liam,
Version 7.5.104 actually corresponds with BPC 7.5 SP03. Version 7.5.105 is BPC 7.5 SP04. I'm not sure why they don't make the version numbers match the Service Pack numbers, but they don't.
Thanks,
Scott
