Consolidation Business Rules

Hi
Can someone tell me the main purpose for each of the following business rules:
Account transformation
Currency conversion rule
Intercompany booking
Automatic adjustments
Automatic adjustments details
Carry-forward rules
US Elimination
Validation rules
Validation rules details
Would really appreciate the help. Also, would be great if anyone can send me some document specifically on consolidation rules and methods.
Thanks
Mav

Hi Mav,
Unfortunately there is no current documentation on Business Rules for 5.1.  The only documentation that is out there is the Admin User Guide, which you can download from SAP.  There is also the Consolidation Engine Referecnce guide for version 4.2 SP3, which goes into more detail regarding business rules.  I can send you a copy of this.  Just send me a note.

  • Different tables used in Consolidation Business Rules

I was going through the documentation of different tables that needs to be maintained for consolidation business rules. I am a little confused and need some clarifications.
These are different tables that needs to be maintained for consolidation -
clcELIM - This table will tell what each source account needs to be divided into what 4 destination accounts.
clcRULES - The RULES will tell how this source account needs to be divided (percentage wise as stored in the OWNERSHIP application) into these 4 destination accounts.
clcMETHOD - This table lists down the different methods (along with their types and description) and its used in the clcRULES table
clcELIMH_- What does this table do and where does it come into picture?
*clcELIM_ - Is this same as clcELIM table mentioned above?
clcRULESH - What does this table do and where does it come into picture?
Also, what am I looking at is  what is the sequence in which these tables needs to be defined.
    For example -
    1. clcELIM has a field called RULE whose details are mentioned in clcRULES.
    2. clcRULES has a field called METHOD and I_METHOD whose detailes are mentioend in clcMETHOD.
    3. .... I am not sure what other tables do? Please fill in the gaps.
Thanks everyone for their help so far.

    Great explanation Alwin!
Since I am new to SAP BPC world and to tell the truth, consolidation world as well (I am a planning & forecasting guy), my follow up questions are -
(Sorry if the questions are naive).
So according to what you have explained, clcELIM and clcELIMH work together along with clcMETHOD to define the elimination rules for entities.
What do clcRULES and clcRULESH do?
Also you said that these are the SQL tables (clcELIM, clcRULES, clcELIMH etc.) and its advisable not to configure them directly. So what business rules from the administration side update these tables. I am sure the METHOD administration will update clcMETHOD while RULES administration will update clcRULES and clcRULESH, is that right? what about ELIM and ELIMH.
I am asking these questions since I dont have the system to work on yet but will be getting it on Monday next week. Right now I am trying to grasp as much as I can. So if you can send me some snapshots to amey420 at gmail dot com, that will be really appreciated.
Also you can send me the other documents you were talking about. I will shoot you an email as well.
Thanks a lot for your help.

  • How to access HBM Business rules

    Hello:
I was a HFM user and just being granted "developer access". I wonder where I can see the VB script code of the consolidation business rules. From the HFM workspace, I did Start ==> Administrator ==> Calculation Manager, can not see anything. Wonder if I have enough access. Also, wonder if the business rules are residing in EPMA?
    Thanks in advance.

There are two places where Calc Manager shows you the vbscript it generates. First, select a given rule, choose the circle icon that begins the rule, and then at the bottom of the screen you will see a "script" tab. Click on that and you can see it generate script for the one rule. Another place to view script is in the rule set view. There is a similar script option which will show the script for the entire rule set. You can do this without extracting anything.

  • Opening Balances changes when running business rules

    Good morning,
We are experiencing problems with the opening balance calculation (Flow: F100) when running the consolidation business rules in BPC 10.1.
For example, in 2013.12, Entity 1111 and Account C_ENL_DIV, the ending balance (Flow: F900) is 180.000 euros. When we run the copy opening balance package, the opening balance (F100) for 12.2014 is 180.000 euros, what which is correct.
The problem comes when some consolidation rules are executed, for example, AU_DIVCTA. For the previous case, we can see that the opening balance changes, previously it was 180.000 euros, coinciding with the final balance of 12.2013 and now the cell is empty, what which is incorrect. This occurs for more than one business rule.
The definition for the AU_DIVCTA business rule, is the next one. You can see that this do not affect to the opening balance in any case.
We attached an Excel where you can see this and much more similar cases the definition for the business rule AU_DIVCTA:

    Hi,
Looks like the substitution variables its looking for are missing.
    Can you check that?

  • Logs of Business rules

    Hi Experts
I am running Consolidation business rules - IC Match & consolidation process , I can see the some number of records getting generated but not sure what exactly records by line item..
Where I can check this records level details ?
    Thanks!!

You are awesome !! Thanks for your valuable feedback..this will definitely help many people..
I will just summarize from that post how we can check logs..
Example: You want to test the Consolidation business rule & check what records it is writing..
Step 1)Do Light Optimize so that request id in the Manage of consol cube in BW closes( Yellow->Green)
Step 2)Run the consolidation business rule, you will see some 250 records written..
Step 3)Again right click on consol cube in BW and hit Manage and now you can see new request id with yellow status..
Step 4)Copy the request ID of the new entry and filter in Display data and now you can see that 250 records which was run by business rules
I guess this will be helpful for someone !! Cheers!!

  • Library of Business Rules

An existing system in my company has a large repository of decision tables, that we would like to port to decision tables to be run on Oracle Business Rules engine (and exposed through a single service).
What would be the best way to do this?
To me, JDeveloper does not seemthe right choice because: a) it would take long time to port the tables manually, and b) I am not sure if creating (only) a library of business rules (without any other componnets) is possible (in JDeveloper).
I have not tried Business Process Composer?
Once the decision tables are ported, we would like to use Oracle tools to manage the tables (modify existing and create new onces). I assume Businesss Process Composer would be good for that.
Any suggestions would be very appreciated.
    Thank you,

  • Set of Business Rules - BPC 10.0 Consolidation

    Hi experts,
I´ll need help to work with two scenarios on BPC 10.0 (Consolidation) as following: 01- The scenario 01 has four entities: 1001, 1002, 1003 and 1004 and four business rules: ELIM01, ELIM02, ELIM03 and ELIM04. I need only rules ELIM01 and ELIM02 are performed for entities 1001 and 1002 and rules ELIM03 and ELIM04 are performed for entities 1003 and 1004. Is it possible in BPC? How can I do it? 02 - The scenario 02 has two entities: 1005 and 1006 and I´ll need to perform a set of rules with business rules ELIM05, ELIM06 and ELIM07 until 2014.03 and I´ll also need to perform other set of rules with ELIM05, ELIM06 and ELIM08 from 2014.04. In thi scenario I want to create a new set of business rules without the rule ELIM07 but I don't want to delete this. Is it possible in BPC? Can I work with two or more set of rules in BPC? How can I do it? Is it possible work with time dependent on set of rules?
    Thanks a lot! Madhuk

    Hi,
    01
The scenario 01 has four entities: 1001, 1002, 1003 and 1004 and four business rules: ELIM01, ELIM02, ELIM03 and ELIM04. I need only rules ELIM01 and ELIM02 are performed for entities 1001 and 1002 and rules ELIM03 and ELIM04 are performed for entities 1003 and 1004.
Are we talking about the eliminations and adjustments business rule? Those rules have an entity property filter which you can use.
    02
The scenario 02 has two entities: 1005 and 1006 and I´ll need to perform a set of rules with business rules ELIM05, ELIM06 and ELIM07 until 2014.03 and I´ll also need to perform other set of rules with ELIM05, ELIM06 and ELIM08 from 2014.04. In thi scenario I want to create a new set of business rules without the rule ELIM07 but I don't want to delete this?
Are we talking about the eliminations and adjustments business rules? They work based on the method based multipliers. So one possible solution would be to have different methods and therefore different method based multipliers in your ownership cube.

  • Automating consolidation entries using business rules

    Hi all,
May I know whether it is possible to automate the following standard consolidation entries in SAP BPC using Automatic Adjustments Business Rules tables:
    1. Attribution of profit after tax to Equity Holders and Minority Interest;
    2. Appropriation of changes in post-acquisition Reserves to Minority Interest; and
    3. Elimination of parent company's Investment in Subsidiaries against subsidiaries' pre-acquisition Share Capital and Reserves.
The mechanics of these entries are:
    1. [Profit after Tax|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/] x POWN% -> post to [Retained Earnings|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/] and [Profit after Tax|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/] x Minority Interest % -> post to [Minority Interest|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/]
    2. [Post-acquisition changes in Reserves|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/] x Minority Interest % -> post to [Minority Interest|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/]
    3. Parent company's [Investment in Subsidiaries|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/] -> post to [Goodwill|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/], Subsidiaries' [Pre-acquisition Share Capital and Reserves|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/] x POWN% -> post to [Goodwill|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/] and Subsidiaries' [Pre-acquisition Share Capital and Reserves|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/] x Minority Interest % -> post to [Minority Interest|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/].
    The questions are:
How do I specify the Minority Interest % in the Automatic Adjustments Business Rules Table.
How do I specify that I am using Direct PCON% and Direct Minority Interest % for some entries and Indirect POWN% and Indirect Minority Interest % for some other entries?
How do I post one entry to the same level in the ENTITY hierarchy in which the ENTITY resides for subsidiaries and post the same entry to the immediate next higher level for the Parent Company in that level?
    Thank you.
    Regards.

  • Problem with balance carry forward business rule and automatic adjustments

    Hi All,
I faced with issue when run BCF business rule and consolidation process. According sap courses BPC440 members with A(automatic adjustments) type should carry forward automatically, and I(imputable), M (adjustments) members should carry forwarded by bcf business rule.
When I set up my BCF business rule I use property "Category_for_ope" in Category dimension. But this rule not work properly, then I use notes:
1784365 - Category_for_ope property should not effect Consolidation.
1902677 - The property category_for_ope shall work for consolidation
After applying those notes, system work as I aspect. After i run consolidation first time system carry forward my automatic adjustment from Category "Expected" to "PLAN_Y0" and this is correct!!!. But when i run consolidation process second and third time system duplicated automatic adjustments in Category "PLAN_Y0".
Someone can help me with this Issue?
    And sorry for my english

    Hi,
Can you try as follows :
    *RUN_PROGRAM COPYOPENING
    CATEGORY = %C_CATEGORY_SET%
    CURRENCY = %RPTCURRENCY_SET%
    TID_RA = %TIME_SET%
    *ENDRUN_PROGRAM
    hope it helps...

  • Default Business Rules at AppSet level

    Hi Experts,
Once you create a new AppSet by copying AppShell and add a "Consolidation" type application with all business rules, a default "Business Rules Library" is generated at AppSet level along with "Business Rule" within Application. The "Business Rules Library" at AppSet level includes "Consolidation Rules" and "Consolidation Methods". In my BPC 7.5 MS SP04 these default business rules table is empty, whereas it used to come with values pre-filled in it in earlier versions. I discussed this with one of the BPC NW consultant and he confirmed that for BPC 7.5 NW this issue was there that those values were there on backend but was not visible from the frontend Admin Console. After applying some patch in BPC 7.5 NW, it becomes visible in Admin Console Business Rules Library at AppSet level.
Can anybody using BPC 7.5 MS version confirm whether they are getting these values by default or they are entering it manually.
Edited by: Amitkumar Shyamanand on Jan 25, 2011 11:18 AM

You may need to confirm with SAP Support, but I beleive that the latest versions of 7.5 on Microsoft has a very slimmed down version of AppShell, and that the business rules are not included in the process.  Best if you get an Appshell from version 7 and create you copy which will then have all the Appset Business RUles.
    Hope this helps.

  • Validation Business Rule Problem

    Hi Community
I´m working with SAP BPC 7.0 NW SP09 Consolidation, the problem I have is when I execute the validation package, the result of the Validation Rule because the business rule don´t respect the number sign of the value calculated.
For example I try to confirm this formula ASSETS = LIABILITIES + EQUITY
    ASSETS      AST   1000
    LIABILITIES  LEQ     800
    EQUITY        LEQ     400
    RESULT                  -200
    BUSINESS RULE      200
I was investigating all the posible combinations of dimensions, and I found it could be possible that this error occurs when (Liabilities + Equity) > Asset.
    Rule
    VAL01     ASSETS=LIABILITIES
    Rule Details
Validation Account     Account 1     Flow 1     Sign 1     Account 2     Flow 2     Sign 2     REMARK
    VAL01     ASSETS     F_CLO     1     LIABILITIES     F_CLO     1
ASSETS and LIABILITIES are configures as part of dimlist property, where Liabilities have all the equity accounts too.
Hope anyone help me with this problem
    Thanks in advance

    Hello Ruben
If Account: VAL01 is 'AST' account than Validation Business Rule will give 200 as the result. For 'LEQ' result will be -200.
I think the business rule is working as expected.
    Hope this help.

  • BPC10 / BPC7.5 NW: the use of US ellimination business rule for matrix elim

In tryuing to make the US Elim business rule work:
    -     Can the US elim procedure support the elimination between an entity and intco AND a segment and partner segment in the same app ? So basically the need is to eliminate intercompany transactions between the management structure (entity and interco) and the segment structure (or LOB structure as you will) that are in two different dimensions ( in other words an entity can belong to more than one segment and therefore they cannot have the segment in the same entity dimension and need to have a second dimension for that). Now the problem is that I have one entity dim and an intco dim, and two user defined dimensions (one for segment and one for partner_segement, aka the intco belonging to the segment). I believe this cannot be done since the US Elim procedure will look for a dimension of type entity and of type intco and therefore will only work on those two dimensions. It will not work with the user defined dimensions.
    -     Meaning, that if that is the case, you have to move your segment dimension into your entity dimension as an unrelated second hierarchy. Ofcourse the downside is then that you will clutter the entity dimension with this segment information and you have to enter your data twice (as ideally you wanted to enter the data for entity XYZ and then distribute the number over the various segments, that now becomes a bit more chunkier). What is a best practice if you need to eliminate on two different axisses like legal entity and management structure or Lobu2019s etcu2026
    -     If using the US elim procedure, do you technically need a GROUPS dimension in your application ? The documentation mentions it in its example, but since it is not used anywhere in a typical application that uses US eliminations (as it is more for legal consolidation applications where you need it), I was wondering if you can leave it out.
A quick answer is highly appreciated. Short words/clues or simple yes or no  are more than enough. No need to write prozau2026.
    Thanks,
    *edwin

Jianbai--  when  you  see  0  submitted 0  success  0  fail..
it  just  means  that  there is no data tht  suits  the  us-elim  criterion.
    For the  package  parameters...
1)make  sure that  there  is  data   for the  CATEGORY
2)The  CURRENCY  has its reporting  property set  to Y
3)There are  INtercompany  transaction  entries between  2  ENTITIES  and  their  ELIM property(ENTITIES involved) is NOT  "Y".
4)In 3, make  sure  the  ACCOUNT  being  used  for  the  intercompany  transactions have  their  ELIMACC property NOT BLANK.
then  you  shld  be  all  set  !!!...if  you  configured  your DATASRC (is_consolidated property(it shld  be eith  I/M) dimension correctly ...
you  don't  even  need  any  business  rules  to have your  ICELIM  working..
    Best luck

    hi,
I want to add temporary variable in my business rule. I have declared the variable as below:

    TaxRate = "ROA Tax Rate"->"GLBU_CVD CONSOLIDATED"->"OU_NUTRITIONAL CHEM"->"All DEPTS"->"Working"->"Forecast"->&FcstYear->"USD"->&FcstMths;

A I doing something wrong with the declaration? (ROA Tax Rate is the member name)
    Please suggest.

    Hi,
    Try this,
    VAR TAXRATE = #MISSING;
    "ROA Tax Rate"
         TAXRATE= "GLBU_CVD CONSOLIDATED"->"OU_NUTRITIONAL CHEM"->"All DEPTS"->"Working"->"Forecast"->&FcstYear->"USD"->&FcstMths;

  • Business rules config does not save to UJP_ELIM and UJP_ELIMH

    Hi folks,
I completed the configuration of currency translation and the calculation of ultimate ownership in a consolidation application that I am building in BPC 7.5.  I then started to work on the business rules for Consolidation.  These are my findings:
The first field is called Adjustment ID  on the screen (but it is actually Elim ID in the Elim table and ElimH tables).
When I populate this field and save, I get an error message saying "Input rule data does not match the rule name ELIMH.
When I populate all the fields on the Auto adj defn screen and try to save or try to validate, I get the same error.
Nothing gets saved to the tables and Both the Elim and Elimh tables have no values in them.
In 7.0 NW, when I created a new adjustment id and saved, it automatically went and saved it to the database and this was the same in 5.1 as well.
    What am I missing?
Would very much appreciate any light that you can shed on this.
    Thank you
    Tara Sitaram

    Hi Tara,
Can you check that your BPC ABAP, BPC .net Server and BPC client are the same service pack?
    Thanks,
    John

  • Business Rule Library not activated

Hi, can anyone please tell me what drives the activation of Business Rule library?I am currently working on Consolidation of Investments and I have configured the dimension properties, application parameters as stated in 340.But my businessrules librray is not activated and hence I am not able to define the rules of consolidation.
    Edited by: 281642 on Aug 30, 2011 6:32 AM

    Hi,
Which business rules have you selected?
The business rules at the appset level are visible only if the automatic adjustment business rule is selected in your application.
    Hope this helps.
