Logs of Business rules

Hi Experts
I am running Consolidation business rules - IC Match & consolidation process , I can see the some number of records getting generated but not sure what exactly records by line item..
Where I can check this records level details ?
Thanks!!

You are awesome !! Thanks for your valuable feedback..this will definitely help many people..
I will just summarize from that post how we can check logs..
Example: You want to test the Consolidation business rule & check what records it is writing..
Step 1)Do Light Optimize so that request id in the Manage of consol cube in BW closes( Yellow->Green)
Step 2)Run the consolidation business rule, you will see some 250 records written..
Step 3)Again right click on consol cube in BW and hit Manage and now you can see new request id with yellow status..
Step 4)Copy the request ID of the new entry and filter in Display data and now you can see that 250 records which was run by business rules
I guess this will be helpful for someone !! Cheers!!

    John, Thanks for the response.
The user has all provisions in SS for Essbase and Applications (Server Access as well as Application Administrator). I can explore all the Essbase applications in EAS.
I have double checked all the provisions and refershed security in EAS. I am still getting the same error.
Here are a few more interesting things that I have noticed from debugging. The only account with the ability to create "New Locations" or Associate a Business Rule with an Essbase Application is "admin". If I deprovision "admin" in SS, I can no longer create New Locations. If I add the provisions back for "admin" then I can create New Locations. So, that tells me that BR is looking at SS for provisioning of "admin".
Here is another interesting message in hbrserver.log.
2010-01-14 11:42:34,377 WARN [ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '3' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)' com.hyperion.hbr.security.HbrSecurityAPI - Error retrieving Indirect Users and Groups.
I get the above message when I 'Right Mouse' on Administration under Business Rules and select "Refresh User List".
    Any additional thoughts?

  • Planning -v11.1.1.1 - Cannot Communicate with Business Rules

    Hi,
We are unable to log into Business Rules no matter how many times we recreate users and properly provision them. I found this in the 11.1.1.1 Installation and Configuration Guide but have no idea of where or how to make this change.
    Planning
    • After you manually deploy Planning, Business Rules does not communicate with Planning. To work around this issue, add the following Java Options:
    -DESS_ES_HOME=/hyperion/products/Essbase/eas/server -Dhyperion.home=/hyperion -DHYPERION_HOME=/Hyperion [8622082]
Where exactly would we do this and could it possibly help?

Issue is with SSH the SSH ware running in two sys and conflict issue.
Restored the Open DAP and suggested the client to re start the Service and server ones.
Client can successfully able to log to EAS and to BR now.
Couple of BR access issue is resolved by provision and Refresh of Manage database.

I had came across with same error in system 9, few years back.
Luckily, issue was in the installation phase. I had reconfigured the HBR repository to fix the issue.
Can you check on the Shared Services Roles for that user. Again, what you can try is create a new user, assign HBR admin and try login.

  • Planning Admin or users cant see Business Rule

Hi - When I log onto Planning with the 'owner' id, I am able to see all the Business Rules associated with that cube. But when I log in with an ID that has Administrator permissions for that Planning application, I'm not able to view any of the Business Rules. I am able to see all the calc scripts associated with that cube.
I have created a group in Essbase with permissions to that cube and have calc access. then I log onto Business Rules designer and assigned my Rules to that group, but I'm still missing some permission somewhere and I can't figure it out.
    Planning 3.5.1
    Essbase 7.0
    Thanks.

Something else I have noticed, when I create a form in Planning using the 'owner' id and then associate Business Rules with it. Then I log in with Planning Administrator permissions and go into that form to in 'enter data' mode, I dont see that 'Launch Rules' button to select the rules to run on that web form.

  • Table - business rules in ODI

Is there any table to log ODI business rules alone?i could see business rules stored in backend table SNP_TXT.
But that table contains information other than buisness rules also..
My requirment is, i need to show the business rules in the GUI screen set by users in ODI .

    Hi,
You can print the content of an Interface or Package by following steps -
    1. Open the ODI Designer
    2. Go to project, expand the objects under the project tree
    3. Select a folder in the project, right click> Print option.
You can choose to print Interface/Package/Procedure or Folder

  • When we use calculation script and when we use business rule

when we use calculation script and when we use business rule can anyone please tell me

Re the OP's question, here is an excellent introduction to Calculation Manager and business rules. It was the first hit when I googled "calculation manager hyperion".
    http://ranzal.wordpress.com/2010/06/11/oracle-hyperion-calc-manager-%E2%80%93-part-1/
You can also go to odtug.com -- the Tech Resources section has a series of presentations on Calculation Manager, from beginner to intermediate.
The added benefit with business rules are that you can use variables and runtime prompts. You can also link planning with business rules and pass information from a web form into a business rules.^^^Only with Planning. There are no runtime prompts with Essbase in 11.1.2.2 but I hear it is coming back in 11.1.2.3
We can use Business Rule for all applications and it is GUI.^^^Doesn't have to be GUI-based. You can (depending on version) flip back and forth between GUI and script. I have not tried writing (nor can I actually think why you would want to do this) a Calc Mgr rule for multiple apps. Maybe you are thinking of a script object that can be called multiple times?
To check whether a calc script is executed or not you have to use the Essbase application database log file (Plan1.LOG)^^^As business rules are, sooner or later, translated to BSO (and hey, ASO too and HFM and Fusion and HPCM and they can differ, a lot, so this is not always true) calc script language, you can always check in the application log to see what is run if Planning or BSO Essbase.

  • Business rule Log/error files in 11.1.1.3?

    Hi,
How can I trace out the status of business rules in EAS for running a calculation on essbase cube.where can I find these log/error files?
In log files can we trace out the error like where it went wrong...?
    Thanks

If you have a look at hbrlaunch.log it will provide details of the business rules that have been run.
If on 11.1.1.3 and windows the file can be by default in C:\windows\system32
If you do get any errors running the rule then the essbase app log is probably the best to find more information on the error.

    Hi Thr,
    Check:
    HBRServer.log,
    Hyperion/logs/planning/HBRServer.log
    Application log
    Hyperion/logs/Essbase/App/<appNameFolder>/appname.log
    For Planning Logs:

  • Business rules log files

    Hello,
Can someone please tell me where the information is stored when I launch a business rule from the EAS console? I know when launching from planning application but I need the information specifically for EAS.
    The version is 9.3.1.
    Cheers

You want to have a search for hbrlaunch.log, if you are on windows it is usually stored in the odd place of windows\system32

  • Error while selecting planning app in Business Rules

    Hi ,
I am not being able to select the planning outline while developing business rules (but I can select the Essbase Outline). Whenever I expand the Planning node, an error pops up the details of which says "Error connecting to Essbase server machinename/testapp." There is a details button which says: "Could not log into Planning "Detail:Could not log in to Planning Server".
Can anyone help me out. I am not being able to view the rules in the planning UI .
I have tried for recycle the EAS even though i am getting same error.
could you please let me know the solution for this
    Thanks
    mahesh

    Hi,
Always follow this process, stop the planning service and eas service.
    Start RMI service
    Start EAS
    Start Planning
Log into the web planning application
Then go into EAS and create a new rule, select an outline to the application you have just logged into via web.
Also if you are using the default admin user to log into EAS try another user that has been provisioned with business rules roles
If you still have problems then go to My Oracle Support (formely metalink3) then have a look at doc id - 763345.1
    Ok?
    Cheers

OK I bit the bullet and contacted support on this one.
There is a known issue with MDS 2012 and business rules with a combination of "must be unique" attributes. If you do not list the attributes in the same order that they were created you will get the generic error I cited. At first they told me it must be
in the same order the attributes are in and that worked on one entity but not the other. The difference was that in the second entity I previously rearranged the attributes in question. Once I changed the order in the business rule to reflect the *original*
order it worked like a champ.
Hopefully this helps save someone some time and money.

  • Business rule takes time to open

    Hi,
Business rule takes much time when trying to open it.
I'm new to essbase. Can any one tell in which log i can get the information like why it takes much time like that.
    Thanks
    Kumar

we are facing this issue for particular user. In the same system, we tried with two different users. for 1st user that BR is opened in a minute, but the same BR took around 20mins to open for 2nd user
    OS - Window XP
    EAS version - 9.3.1
    Example
A is 1st user --> XX business rule took 1min to open
B is 2nd user --> XX business rule took 20mins to open
Here both the users are having same access on the BR and the applications
    Thanks
