Constant deleting
In Safari while typing, if I hit the delete key sometimes it will work right and only erase a single character, other times it will simply keep deleting and deleting and deleting, sometimes until everything I have entered is gone. This only happens in Safari, not Mail or any other application. I can go to the home screen or put it to sleep, but I still here it clicking as it deletes what I typed one character at a time as if I repeatedly push the button. I have the latest Firmware (I just reinstalled it tonight after it downloaded) and I restored the iPod. It only happens with the delete key and to sit and type something for five minutes then hit delete to correct one mistake and have it erase everything is maddening. Is this a bug, a fluke with my iPod Touch 2G, or what?
Yes, it is valid to delete a const object. C++ Standard, section 5.3.5, paragraph 2:
"Note: a pointer to a const type can be the operand of a delete-expression; it is not necessary to cast away the constness"
The reason is that since you created the object dynamically, you can remove itdynamically as well. You are just not allowed to change its value while it exists.

I have a previous generation 2TB Time Capsule shared by three of us, each with separate accounts.
I know there's not much space left on the Time Capsule and that it's therefore expected that Time Machine would make room by deleting old backups. But my account seems stuck forever on these deletions (for over 72 hours now), while the other two accounts on the Time Capsule are working just fine.
I've been through Pondini's recommendations for (a) patience and (b) finally resetting Time Machine, but on it goes.
Here is the last couple of hours of the log (filtered for this problem). The entire log for the last 72 hours is too long to post -- but the pattern is the same, with the constant deletions barely making a dent, and sometimes in fact the space available decreases.
I'd cheerfully give up on the oldest backups, but meanwhile it's been 8 days since TC has been able to complete a backup. (I have been cloning the drive daily with SuperDuper just to make sure I have a fallback until this is figured out.)
Hoping one of you can recommend a course of action.
Thanks in advance for any help...

Dear Experts,
Continue with my previous thread, I have marked constant deletion option in purchase org and i am gettign values in single column. but
i have 2 RKF or CKF at infoprovider level
1. purchase value
2. purchase qty
3. rate = purchase value/purchase qty
I am restricted rate with variable and displaying for lastyear month, year to month, lastyear t olast month...
My constant selection option is working with lastyear month and value coming against purchase org..
but for YTM and LYTLM value is coming aginst purchaseorg # ...i mean constant selection property is not working with these KF...
same way m displaying purchase qty for ytm and LYTLM in this constant selection is working...
m using same variable for purchase qty and purchase rate but still its working with qty but not with rate..
What can be the reason .. pls advise

XMLCompareTagValue(Text)
Hello,
I am having a problem with XMLCompareTagValue(Text) function.
My XML Tag is: /vnml/project/trade/operation[@type]
where type can be SELL or DELETE.
I am comparing it with constant DELETE. Even when the type is DELETE, the comparison I am getting is 'Less Than' whereas it shd be Equal. Where is the problem ?
Thanks,
ShaluHi,
being more specific with the problem, what is happening is, I need to get the value of an attribute from an XML doc inside workflow. And the standard syntax:
Element/@attribute (in my case, /vnml/project/trade/operation/@type) to get the value of an attribute always returns NULL.
Thanks,
Shalu -
What is timeprofile calendar and how to get rid of it?
A "calendar" called timeprofile popped up on my calendar list. It seems to be related to my exchange account but it was never there before. I tried to delete it but I can't seem to be able to. What's worse, ical keeps trying to delete it and now I get repeated alerts asking me to either "retry", "revert to server" or "ignore". But no matter what I choose, it seems to try anyway and the alerts keep popping up all day long. It's driving me crazy! Help me at least kill the delete job.
Eng_J wrote:
I was unable to affect this problem in any way from my local machine. What appears to be happening is that the "TimeProfile" calendar has been exposed, but as a user you do not have any rights to delete it. When you try, it gets stuck in a loop that disallows even the syncing of new calendars.
To fix this: I had to log into office365 through the Outlook Web Client (outlook.office365.com) and add a new calendar entry to my main calendar. When iCal received the new calendar entry, it forgot about the attempt to delete the "TimeProfile" calendar and un-stuck itself.
To keep it fixed: I am not touching the "TimeProfile" calendar for any reason. Do not try to delete it again until someone figures out why it is visible and fixes it. I have a feeling it isn't supposed to be visible and a recent update to either end is making it so. If I had to guess, I'd say wait a month and the next whatever patch will clear it.
UPDATE: I tried this and so far it seems to be working. One note though, just in case. I have no idea if this is necessary or not but I made sure that Outlook wasn't open while I did this, just in case. I don't use the exchange calendar (although I can't keep others from sending invites to it), but I do use Outlook for my work email. I just wanted to make sure that iCal was the only app accessing my exchange account while I was trying the fix. Like others said, TimeProfile is still there but at least no more constant delete error pop-ups. -
Does OCFS2 file system get fragmented
We are running Production & Testing RAC databases on Oracle 9.2.0.8 RAC on Red Hat 4.0 using OCFS2 for the cluster file system.
Every week we refresh our Test database by deleting the datafiles and cloning our Standby database to the Test database. The copying of the datafiles from the Standby mount points to the Test database mount points (same server), seems to be taking longer each time we do this.
My question is : can the OCFS2 file system become fragmented over time from the constant deletion & copying of the datafiles and if so is there a way to defragment it.
Thanks
JohnHi,
I think it will get fragment if you constant deletion & copying of the datafiles on ocfs2.You can set the preferable block size and cluster size on the basis of actual applications, which can reduce the file fragments.

Video, applications, music on 3 seperate computers, how do i sync them?
I am new to this so i appologize in advance for my naive nature. I got my iphone a few weeks ago and have downloaded some apps, music and videos from three different computers. Now when i sync on any one computer it seems to delete the items i had in a library on the other computers. Is there a way to put identical librarys on all three computers? Or do i have to sync from only one computer it keep it as the only back up computer? I know my terminology is not correct but what im looking to do is eliminate the constant deleting that goes on when i use the three computers. Thank you in advance for your help.
Authorize all three computers with the same iTunes account in iTunes > Store menu. Then copy the iTunes the relevant parts of the iTunes libraries to all computers (using a flash drive, external hard drive, DVDs, etc.).
However, that won't prevent content from being deleted. The iPhone is designed to sync iTunes media (music/videos/apps) with one computer. So, if you have the same content on all three, each time you sync to another computer the iPhone's content will be deleted, then replaced with the same content (taking a significant amount of time, probably!).
So, your best bet is to merge your three iTunes libraries onto one computer, and only sync with that computer. You can sync other info (contacts, calendars, bookmarks) with multiple computers, but only one for the iTunes media. -
Hi all,
We are encountering performance problem again
The batch process deletes 1M rows every night which took 30mins the usual.
But last night (12AM) it took more that 2hrs and hangs.
Does it help if I run gather_schena stats regularly when there is constant DELETE on the table?
Please help me check our ASH, AWR, ADDM to resolve the issue.

Hello,
I am having constant crashes in Safari 5.0.4. This never happened until today.
I have reset Safari, deleted the cache.db files and prefs (p.lists) and disabled extns, and done a Safari re-install, but i still get the following crash every time i use Safari.
Even a right-click command to open a new page causes a crash.
Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated - I'm in the middle of a project and don't have time for an entire OS re-install.
I hope the info listed below give you some insight into the cause of the problem.
Cheers

Third party unsupported Safari add ons are causing Safari to crash.

/Library/ScriptingAdditions/SIMBL.osax/Contents/MacOS/SIMBL
/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/Keywurl.bundle/Contents/MacOS/Keywurl
Open a Finder window. Select MacintoshHD in the Sidebar on the left. Now open the LIbrary folder then the Input Managers folder.
Move these files to the Trash: Ecamm/Ecamm Plugin Loader.bundle/Contents/MacOS/Ecamm Plugin Loader
and these: Ecamm/Plugins/iGlasses.plugin/Contents/MacOS/iGlasses
From that same Library folder open the Scripting Additions folder. Move these files to the Trash:
SIMBL.osax/Contents/MacOS/SIMBL
Same Library folder open the Application Support folder. Move these files to the Trash: SIMBL/Plugins/Keywurl.bundle/Contents/MacOS/Keywurl
Restart Safari.
Apparently iGlasses can only run if you start Safari in 32 bit mode according to the information here.
http://www.ecamm.com/mac/iglasses/faq.html
You would have to restart in 64 bit when not using the plug in. Probably not worth the hassle. I hope you only have the trial version installed.
OS Version: Mac OS X 10.6.5 (10H574)
You also need to update to v10.6.6. You can do this by clicking your Apple menu (top left in your screen) then click Software Update.

MAC OSX 10.4.11 I succumbed to the constant messages telling me that I didn't have the latest version, despite being happy with the one I had. My old version and all my bookmarks have been deleted and now my Mac says it doesn't support Firefox!!!!! How can I recuperate my old settings? in English
Firefox 4 versions and later '''do not run on a PowerPC Mac''' (like yours) and require '''at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac'''.
The latest supported version for your os is '''3.6.27''' , you can download it from:
http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
1. Download a 3.6.27 copy of the Firefox from the above link
2. Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install.
3. Install the new version that you have downloaded(3.6.27)
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder], so probably you won't lose your bookmarks or other personal data, if you don't already ''totally'' uninstall firefox(user data and settings like bookmarks, extensions, etc. located here: ~Library/Application Support/Firefox so you must uninstall it separately, to totally uninstall firefox).
see also : [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Installing%20Firefox%20on%20Mac Installing Firefox on Mac]
thank you
Please mark "Solved" the answer that really solve the problem, to help others with a similar problem. -
Im getting a constant error message: "you can't open the application PACE because PowerPC applications are no longer supported". I cant find PACE to delete it?
PACE is a rather crappy copy protection software used by the following;
Antares
Melodyne
Cycling 74 Max/MSP/Jitter
iZotope oZone
Line6 POD Farm
McDSP plug-ins (some software purchases include a green iLok key)
MOTU
Overloud
Pro Tools
Serato
Virtually all Digidesign (RTAS and TDM) plug-ins
Virtually all Waves Products
So if you have any of there, they might be the cause of your problems.

Deleting a pointer to a constant object
I have code in C++ compiled under Sun WorkShop C++ Compiler 5.0 that is able to delete a pointer to a constant object e.g const int * ptr ;
I'm able to delete it, using delete ptr;
This just a trivial example ... but I'm able to delete a pointer to any constant object. I'm relatively new to C++ so this is very confusing that it should allow me to do so. When I compile the same code in Microsoft VC++ the compiler catches it rightfully saying that it cannot overload the delete operator with a pointer to a constant or something like that ... So my question is is this an anamoly in Sun compiler ... or does the C++ standard loosely defined as to what should happen(. I thought you couldn't overload a delete operator with pointert to a constant) or maybe my shop needs a patch that will solve this problem .... ?
Just tried on Forte same thing happened.
Please Help.Yes, it is valid to delete a const object.
Calendar is incessantly posting error messages that it cannot change or delete an event on my Exchange calendar. I have tried the "revert to server, try again, and ignore" more times than I can count. I even deleted the exchange from my connection and reinstalled without help. Even when I have deleted the Exchange, it continues to have this error window every 60 seconds. I am ready to stop using the computer just for the stress of it. Any suggestions or help before this screen winds up with a shoe in it?
To prevent Firefox from displaying form autocomplete suggestions, you can turn off that feature using the about:config page.
In the address bar, type or paste '''about:config''' and tap the Enter/Return key.
I suggest bookmarking this for easier future access.
In the search box, type or paste '''formf''' and tap the Enter/Return key.
Scroll down to '''browser.formfill.enable''' and tap the Toggle button to switch it from true to false.
That's it. Does it work on Facebook?
''The about:config preferences editor in the mobile version is similar in principle to the desktop version but many of the preferences available on the desktop version have no effect in mobile. This one I only tested on one site, but it seems to work.'' -
Deleted podcasts, now getting constant sync errors
Apparently I deleted a podcast (maybe unsubscribed?) a while back and now everytime I sync my iPod, I get the error +"Some of the items in the iTunes library, including "...", were not copied to the iPod "..." because they could not be found."+
I understand what is happening, but there is nothing for me to delete in iTunes to tell it everything is ok. I thought maybe if I just downloaded those files again then it would find them and I could try deleting again... BUT those particular podcasts are not available any more! I even tried faking it out by making bogus mp3 files with the names it was looking for in the correct iTunes Library folders, but it still didnt work. Im at a loss here.I'm having the exact same problems. Those missing podcasts are not in my main podcast list. But the strange thing is, in my "0 stars" smart playlist, those missing, unsync-able podcasts do show up. I can't delete them there in that smart playlist, though. And I can't find them in Windows. It's like they're phantom podcasts that won't disappear, but aren't actually there to sync, and they're not physically on the hard drive anywhere. Itunes just thinks they're still around for some reason...

Constant Download Errors & Content Deletion
I have 2 problems that I've contacted Apple about many, many times without any resolution. They just keep treating me like a moron and then making me go through the same hoops that don't work. Can anyone help:
1. This is the most persistent. I get an error 5000 at the end of a download saying i don't have proper authority to write to the drive (but I do, i'm an administrator of my machine). The content does not write to my drive (can't find it anywhere) and then i can't download it again as the iTunes store thinks I've already downloaded it. This has happened probably 10 times and I'm missing many things I've paid for. HELP!!!!!!
2. This is a new one. I did a sync and iTunes deleted content from my iPod saying i don't have rights on this computer to it (though it was downloaded on this computer and paid for on this computer).
I really don't want to hate Apple, but i'm getting there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Tks,
Eric
Dell D410 Windows XPTake a close look at the error message to see what it says. I got that yesterday on one site. It couldn't find a file that I had added to the site when creating it originally. It was looking on the Desktop for it as that's where it was when I imported it into iWeb. I has since deleted or moved the file somewhere else. For some reason iWeb 09 occasionally acts like iDVD, i.e. referencing items. I added the photo again, republished and it went thru as it should. So look closely at the error message to see what is causing iWeb its heartburn.
