Constantly asking for passwords that are keychain

Charome and Assist???? want the password entered again and again.
How can I fix this problem? I tried selecting each one and selecting "allow all
applications to access this item." But there are over 600l. I tried to record
the fix using automator but that seems to have a steep learning curve.

  • Ipod constantly asking for password

Ipod 5th gen. constantly asks for password for Apple ID, even after entering it numerous times.  It Will not allow me to access anything, settings, wifi, apps, etc. I tried resetting it - didn't help.  I can't even get into settings to erase it.  I just purchased it in December 2013 ... can it be fixed?

  • Mail constantly asks for password

I have 3 email accounts setup in Mail. 1 is a POP email. The other 2 are IMAP.
For some strange reason from the moment I open Mail, 1 of the IMAPs prompts me for my password. I enter it. Emmediately, it asks for my password again, and then the prompt disappears and re-appears every 30-60 seconds.
I tried deleting this account & re-adding it, but I keep getting this same result. I checked that both IMAP accounts have the exact same settings (they are both "@rogers.com" accounts). I made sure that my accounts are all set to check for new mail every 15 minutes.
Open Mail, password prompt. Enter password, password promt. It goes away for 30-60 seconds, password prompt. This is getting annoying.
I can log in to that mail account via web, but it's so much easier using Mail for all of them together at once.
    Anyone else encounter this issue?
Anyone know how to fix this?
    X

This happens to me too (every two months over the past year). And many other readers as I can see.
It has nothing with the operator as I am using an IMAP account in Austria.
I have not been able to find a clear solution to this proplem in the many threads that are out there:
    - Verify and repar keychains -> does not solve it
    - Delete passwords from keychain -> does not solve it
    - Entering the password in the mail dialogue box and NOT selecting the box to save the pwd in the keychain does not give access to the mail account either.
Have you been able to find a solution?

  • Mail constantly asking for passwords

I know this has come up lots of times but nothing I try fixes the issue. Mac Mail constantly asks me for passwords.
Hotmail is the worst for some reason.  I have fixed keychain, removed password from keychain, changed password, removed account and added again and still it goes on and on, several times an hour!
I have exhausted all advice i found on here and i can't think of anything else to try. it is most frustrating. has anyone found a new fix for this issue?
also, i have no idea where to post this as nothing comes up when searching for mail or email !

You may want to ask in the forum for the MacOS X version you are using. Mail is part of MacOS X.  So ask in the Yosemite forum, Mavericks forum, etc.
Have you read the Help page in Mail  "If Mail keeps asking for your password"?  It may be a problem with your key chain, or a problem with your mail account on the provider's site.
If you entered the correct password in the password dialog in Mail, but continue to be asked for your password, try these suggestions.
In Keychain Access, locate and delete the email account password item.Open Keychain Access for me
In Disk Utility, select the volume (for your hard disk or disks) in the list, click First Aid, then Verify Disk. After you’ve verified (and repaired, if necessary) the disk, try sending yourself a message. Open Disk Utility for me

  • Constantly asking for password in iTunes

Not exactly sure when it happened, I believe with the update to iTunes 11 - but am not sure, I am now being asked to enter my password every time I turn around to do much of anything in iTunes.  I'm asked sometimes as many as 3-4 times in a row (as if it were for different processes).  I know I'm not mistakenly entering the password (thought I was at first), as I've used the paste command to paste my password in every time it asks, so I know it's consistently entered.
I use Home Sharing, so iTunes is always running on my iMac.  Every time I want to check for new IOS apps (about every other day, sometimes every day), I am asked for my password.
Behavior prior to this (iTunes 10), was to ask when iTunes started, and then it remembered the password.  I've searched here, and tried many of the suggestions - and they don't work (deauthorizing the computer, reauthorizing it, etc.)
I understand security - but this is getting ridiculous.  This morning, I had to enter my password to start iTunes (I rebooted), plugged my wife's iPhone in, found there is the 6.1.2 update for her phone, had to enter my password again, searched for new IOS apps for iPad/iPhone/etc. and had to enter my password a third time.  All of this within the span of 4 minutes or so.  Security is one thing - this is downright annoying (and that's the "public" consumption phrase - not what I'd really like to say).

I'll just add - went to iTunes to "buy" a free app.  Within 15 minutes after going through the above rigarmarole, and it's still downloading my iPhone update, and the updated apps are still queued.  I was asked AGAIN for my iTunes password.  That's 4 times within 18 minutes or so.
Since each time was a different "area" of code (startup, download iPhone update, download app updates, purchase new app), I'm suspecting that there's something broke in iTunes, or screwed up in my Keychain and it keeps asking for a password each time I go into that "section" of code.
However, I can guarandamtee that if I check for updates within 20 minutes or so - I'll be asked for my password yet again.  Just thought I'd check to see if it would now - I've got my download window open, won't open the main window at all.  I'm going to have to exit the app and start AGAIN to get my main window back up again.  But I won't do that until my downloads are complete.

  • Mail (gmail account) constantly asking for password

    Hello,
    My wife has a 3gs
She originally setup her mail using the phones built in gmail account step by step method. While using this, her phone was constantly saying it could not access the gmail server.
So, I setup her mail with gmail using the google sync/Exchange method.
Now it is constantly asking her for her gmail password. When you enter the password, nothing happens and it asks again. The problem seems to be intermittent.
I have a 3g iphone setup the exact same way, and I have never had either of these problems.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Here's the deal, because of spammers, especially automated computer spammers google uses what is called a captcha lock to block smtp for your account until you prove you're human, and the account owner, and not some computer spammer. The lock can be triggered by the mere fact of setting up your gmail account on a mobile device, like the iphone. Computers, generally, can't read the captcha code, only a human can read it & enter the code correctly. Same reason that when using wifi, other than when at home or at your place of business you may find you can receive email, but can't send. Most wifi providers block all smtp in an effort to stop spammers. Sad, but you can blame spammers for this.

  • I deleted Yahoo acct- now Yahoo request box pops up constantly asking for password!?

I had trouble with someone hacking my Yahoo acct- since I haven't used it in years, I deleted it- NOW, every few minutes a box pops up (from Yahoo!) asking for my password.  Is this Yahoo Sync?  I don't have any Yahoo listed in Address book... I can't find any reference to Yahoo in the system.  Where is this request coming from?  How can I stop this madness?  Thank you.

What is posting the dialog?  Is it from your browser?  Did you (once upon a time) install some yahoo software?
If it is your browser then look at your add-ons/extensions for anything "yahoo".
If it's something you installed, then look in your Accounts system preferences login items for any yahoo related app being specified to launch.
Similarly look in these other places:
~/Library/LaunchAgents (in your home directory, use Finder Go menu, Go To Folder)
    /Library/LaunchAgents
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    /Library/StartupItems

  • My mail program frequently asks for passwords that I have provided and saved many times.  I am running Snow Leopard and have run the Keychain repair a few times to no avail.  Is there a fix for this or do I have to find another email program?

I am running Snow Leopard and have run the Keychain repair a few times to no avail.
Is there a fix for this or do I have to find another email program?

This is frequent, not just occasionally.  All cancel does is stop the email from coming through until I provide the password.
I thought about it being on the provider's end but it never happened when I was using Entourage, I just don't particularly like that program.
I don't understand why this problem has gone on so long without Apple doing something to fix it but I will continue to look for alternatives to the Apple Mail program.  If I find a good one I will let all know through avenue.
Thanks again to all who tried to help.

  • After iOS 8 update, iCloud constantly asks for password

Hello, after I updated to iOS 8 on my iPhone 5 and iPad air I am constantly having the window pop up on both devices asking me to enter my password for iCloud. I've had to unlock the account twice now. Could this be due to activating family sharing with my wife? Or is someone trying to hack into my account and keeps messing up the password? Has anyone else experienced this sort of issue? Thanks!

Go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out, choose Delete from My iDevice and provide your password when prompted (your data will still be in iCloud).  Then sign back in (your data will download back to your device).  See if that stops the prompts for your password.

  • HT201269 Itunes Encrypted Backup Asking for Password That Doesn't Exist - Can't Set Up New Iphone

My iphone 4s has a broken wifi transmitter so it has never been backed up to iCloud.  I backed it up on Itunes before setting up my new 5s.  When I selected Restore from Itunes on the 5s, I got an "enter password" message on iTunes and saw that the backup of the 4s had been encrypted, even though encryption had not been checked.  I looked in Keychain for the password but it wasn't there.  Now I have no way to transfer the data from my old phone to my new one.  I suspect this is a bug with Mavericks as I just upgraded. I had never used backup encryption before.  Any ideas?

If you're still having this problem, try going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.
Note: this will only work if your current ID was created by changing the details of your old ID.  It won't work if your current ID is an entirely new ID.

  • TS3103 My apple-based e-mail stopping working on May 22-- it keeps asking for passwords -- which are not accepted.  What is going on?  I am on snow leopard 10.6.8-- I can only get e-mail on my phone!!

I am unable to sign in on e-mail (mobile me OR me.com)-- It just randomly stopped on May 22nd.  Nothing will update from that date.  My password comes up as invalid; I have tried to re-set but it still comes up as invalid.  What is going on???  This is so unlike apple.

Your post is pretty lengthy and I have to admit I didn't read it all. Please try restarting in Safe Mode, if that doesn't work please do both a SMC and PRAM reset. These may take 2-3 attempts.
    SMC RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
