Constructing actionPerformed method without using if statements
Hi,
I'm currently writing a basic swing program, and have used 'if' statements within the actionPerformed methods. I wondered if there was a better, neater way of doing this without using the 'if' statements.
My code so far is as follows,
method 1:
static private class IncrementDecrementAction implements ActionListener {
boolean oddNumberClick = true;
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
if (oddNumberClick= !oddNumberClick)
SimpleSwing.label.setText(labelPrefix + "Decrement");
else
SimpleSwing.label.setText(labelPrefix + "Increment");
}method 2:
static private class ClickAction implements ActionListener {
public int numClicks = 0;
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
if (SimpleSwing.label.getText().equals(labelPrefix + "Increment"))
numClicks++;
else
numClicks--;
SimpleSwing.label2.setText(labelPrefix2 + numClicks);
}Any ideas or advice appreciated.
Thanks
I think there's a way, but it is very similar to your code:
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
numClicks = SimpleSwing.label.getText().equals(labelPrefix + "Increment")?numClicks + 1: numClicks - 1;
SimpleSwing.label2.setText(labelPrefix2 + numClicks);
}But keep in mind this: each time a button is pressed it will always call actionPerformed of all its listeners, so there is no way to call different methods (unless you use different listeners like Mouse listeners...).

How can i construct this query without using CASE statement?
I've a following code. I'm using this script in Hibernet. So, i cannot use CASE there. Because, hibernet doesn't support case in select statement. How can i construct the same thing which will give me the same result without using CASE?

#####2 ideas:
1. Inline function to perform the CASE funcionaltity for you
2. Piplelined function to generate the entire dataset
Both will be slower than just using CASE in a query, but we're working around big constraints -
Updating data without using update statement
Hi,
A quick question...
Can any table data could be updated without using update statement from backend.
Just wanted to make sure.
Thanks in advance.Hi,
What is your definition of Update?
Since your question is vague and you dont explain what exactly you mean.
here are my thoughts
1) A record can be deleted and isnerted with new values.Where the nes values have only few columns changed from previous ones.
2) I use pl/sql developer.If i need to update i can write select.. for update.Change the values (as in notepad)Commit.
This is infact a update but with nice UI
3) even your application can update data in your tables, if you code it and give correct privileges to the userRegards,

Delete internal table rows without using loop statement
i have an internal table which consists of 100 records.
i need to keep only first 5 records.
without using the loop statement i need to delete the rest of the records. how can we achieve this result.
i.e. delete itab1 where "recordno" > 5.
regards.
ZGHi,
Delete itab [FROM idx1] [TO idx2] {Where (log_exp)]
To delete several lines at once, you have to specify at least one of the additions FROM, TO, or WHERE. You can only use the additions FROM and TO with standard tables and sorted tables.
Delete itab [FROM idx1]
If you specify FROM, all the table rows from the table index idx1 onwards are included.
Delete itab [TO idx2]
If you specify TO, all the table rows from the table index idx2 onwards are included.

--dbms_output.put_line('Emp Name: '||l_value);
l_index := l_index + 1;
END LOOP;
END;I think you already know this since you extract the "type" attribute too.
As well, languageCode is an attribute so you must access it with the "@" notation (or the attribute:: axis).
Now, it depends on what you want to do :
1- extract only Descriptions in a given language ?
2- extract all Descriptions along with their language ?
For 1) the current iteration method is not appropriate and you can't just add the corresponding predicate in the existsNode test because there's no correlation between the node position and the languageCode.
You have to count how many nodes of the given language there are and then loop from 1 to this count.
Or, fall back to case 2) and test the language within the loop after having extracted it.
For 2) add another extract call that targets the attribute :
WHILE l_xmltype.Existsnode('/Product/'||'Description[' || To_Char(l_index) || ']',v_namespace) > 0
LOOP
dbms_output.put_line('type = ' || l_xmltype.extract('/Product/'||'Description[' || To_Char(l_index) || ']/@type', l_nsmap).getStringVal());
dbms_output.put_line('languageCode = ' || l_xmltype.extract('/Product/'||'Description[' || To_Char(l_index) || ']/@languageCode', l_nsmap).getStringVal());
dbms_output.put_line('Description = ' || l_xmltype.extract('/Product/'||'Description[' || To_Char(l_index) || ']/text()', l_nsmap).getStringVal());
l_index := l_index + 1;
END LOOP;XMLTable is so much simpler to use in any case. -
Getting ROWID without using "FOR UPDATE" in statement
Hi,
Is there any way to get the ROWID of the current record without using "FOR UPDATE" in the statement?
Here's the story...
I'm actually working on a server that receives multiple connections from client applications. The server interacts with OCI for selecting, updating, fetching and so on. The server is able to manage many opened recordset from clients.
Here's a possible scenario:
- A client asks the server to open a recordset ie: "SELECT * FROM foo".
- Then, the server receives a command to position the cursor on the last record ie: "OCIFetch2->LAST".
- Finally, the client decides to update the current (last) record.
Since the server can receive other requests such as opening a new recordset from another client, I can't use "SELECT * FROM foo FOR UPDATE" because it blocks further call to OCIStmtExecute (even in NONBLOCKING mode).
At the same time, I can't COMMIT the transaction after the "SELECT" statement otherwise the selection gets invalidated. The selection needs to remain valid until the client decides to "close the recordset".
Is there any workaround?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,

Integration New Media, inc.Hi again,
I found that OCIRowidToChar could save my life. In fact, by retrieving the ROWID equivalent string I could use it to build a statement like:
update foo set c1 = 1 where rowid = 'AAAHZuAABAAAMViAAL';
which will solve my problem since these strings don't change and represents a unique record.
The problem is when I try to compile this method it says:
test.cpp: In function `sword OpenRecordset(OCIServer*&, OCISvcCtx*&, OCIStmt*&,
COLDEF*)':
test.cpp:382: `OCIRowidToChar' undeclared (first use this function)
test.cpp:382: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once for each
function it appears in.)
make: *** [test] Error 1
It seems that this function is not declared under Solaris/Oracle 9i. I searched on the web and there is not much information about that. However, it is documented in the Oracle book.
Is there any way to use this function under Solaris? If not, how can I get the string that represents a ROWID?
I use the following syntax:
sword OCIRowidToChar ( OCIRowid *rowidDesc,
OraText *outbfp,
ub2 *outbflp
OCIError *errhp );
Best regards,

What is the direct connect method for transfering photos from my macbook pro to my iphone without using iTunes syncronization? (iow: a simple photo copy from mac to iphone?)
Easy? Right?
Just plug my iphone in to a mac and copy a photo from the mac to my iphone.
I don't have internet access - I can't email it, or mobileme it, or dropbox it.iTunes. Other than that there is no direct method. However, do try the iPhone forums.

Using Refcursor in Callable Statement without using the Oracle Drivers
Hello all,
Is there anyway to have a stored procedure (Oracle 8i) return a refcursor to my CallableStatement without using the Oracle Thin drivers (i'm now using jdbcodbc). I've tried registering my out parameter with every possible type i can think of...REF, JAVA_OBJECT, OTHER, etc. but with no luck.
Help!!!!Certainly...I connect to the database using the
jdbcodbc driver and when i execute any of the code, i
get the following error:
java.sql.SQLException: [Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-06550:
line 1, column 7:
PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call
to 'PVISUAL_GET'
ORA-06550: line 1, column 7:
PL/SQL: Statement ignored
It's bombing on the line that i attempt to register
OracleTypes.CURSOR. It works fine when i use the
oracle thin drivers, but i want to get this puppy
working with the JdbcOdbcDriver. Here's the code:
CallableStatement dbCall =
nt dbCall =
(CallableStatement)connection.prepareCall("{ call
PAK_VISUAL_GET.pvisual_get(?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?) }");
dbCall.setString(1, sessionKey);
dbCall.setInt(2,
l.setInt(2, Integer.parseInt(storedVizID));
dbCall.registerOutParameter(3,
arameter(3, OracleTypes.CURSOR);
dbCall.registerOutParameter(4,
arameter(4, OracleTypes.NUMBER);
dbCall.registerOutParameter(5,
arameter(5, OracleTypes.VARCHAR);
dbCall.registerOutParameter(6,
arameter(6, OracleTypes.NUMBER);
dbCall.execute();when you don't use oracle thin driver, you cannot use the OracleTypes. but, instead use the java.sql.Types values.Replace dbCall.registerOutParameter(3, OracleTypes.CURSOR); with
dbCall.registerOutParameter(3,java.sql.Types.OTHER). things should be fine.

How to save the session states for a tabular form WITHOUT using check boxs?
Greeting guys,
As you know that we can use collections to save the session states of a tabular forms, described in the how-to doc of manual tabular forms. However, what I am trying to do ( or have to do) is to provide a manual tabular form, and save the session states for validation, without using the check boxes. Because a user can put contents into some columns in a row without checking the corresponding checkbox, according to the requirements. So basically what I tried is to loop over all the rows and save Every entry into a collection. However, sometimes I got "no data found" error with unknown reasons.
My current solution is to use the "dirty" Retry button that gets back the history, which IMO is not a good workabout. So, I'd appreciate if somebody can shed some light on a better solution, especially if it is close to the one in that how-to doc.
Thanks in advance.
LucThe following is the first collection solutin I've tried:
htmldb_collection.create_or_truncate_collection('TEMP_TABLE');
for i in 1..p_row_num loop -- Loop on the whole form rows
if (htmldb_application.g_f01(i) is not null) or (htmldb_application.g_f05(i) <> 0)
--If either of them has some input values, the row should be saved into the colleciton.
then
htmldb_collection.add_member(
p_collection_name => 'TEMP_TABLE',
p_c001 => htmldb_application.g_f01(i),
p_c002 => htmldb_application.g_f03(i),
p_c003 => htmldb_application.g_f04(i),
p_c004 => htmldb_application.g_f05(i),
p_c005 => htmldb_application.g_f06(i),
p_c006 => htmldb_application.g_f08(i)
end if;
end loop;
Some of columns have null values, but I don't think that's the reason. Because once I clicked all the check boxes, there would be no error no matter what values were in other columns.
Another issue would be extract the values FROM the collection, which has been tried because I had problem to store the data into the collection. I used "decode" functions inside the SQL to build the tabular form. I am not sure whether it will be the same as a regular SQL for a tabular form, like the example in the How-to doc.
Also I didn't use the checksum, for it is not an issue at the current stage. I am not sure whether that's the reason which caused the NO DATA FOUND error. -
