Content administration authorization

Hi Gurus,
Can any body tell how to give only content administration authorization to user
i have created one role and i have assigned the work set contentent administration to that role, and given the end user permissions to user and assignd the role to user
still i am getting exception Access denied
can any body please help me on this
thanks and Regards,
Kishore

Hi,
By default only the super_admin_role is owner for the contents in PCD.
So users having this role can edit the contents in PCD.
If you assigned any user only Content administration role, he now has no permissions to edit. So login with some user who has super_admin_role and assign your new user permissions where he is allowed to edit in PCD.

  • Administrator authorizations

    Hello,
    In our company several administrator departments are using de administrator workbench. All for their own specific area (e.g. we have different depts. for HR and finance). I'm now trying to make some roles which makes it impossible for one dept. to change or see contents in the info-area of another dept. (e.g. Finance should not be allowed to change or see any HR data).
    I thought it should be possible with authorizationobject S_RS_ADMWB. But this object does not have the possibility to enter an info-area.
    Does anyone know how to do this?
    Is there any documentation on this subject? I have seen a lot of documentation on report-authorization, but nothing about administrator-authorization.
    We are using BW7.0 (SP12).
    Best regards,
    Joost Kruk

    Hello,
    S_RS_ADMWB alone will not help you to display the object sbjects structures and data in the InfoProviders in the Admin Workbench. In BI you will have to use the reporting authorization to view the data in the infoproviders through the admin workbench.
    Please use the below objects in analysis authorizations (rsecadmin) to give display access to the required data
    0TCAACTVT = 03
    0TCAIPROV = List of InfoProviders the FI team should have access
    0TCAVALID = 07/01/2007 to 12/31/9999
    Role should have:
    S_RS_ADMWM: Activity=03, Workbench Object = InfoArea
    S_RS_ICUBE: Activity = 03 => to view the structure of the infoproviders
    The combination of the above gives the authorization that you are looking for. InfoArea is just a text, the InfoProviders under it is what should look at to view the data.
    Thanks,
    Jay

  • Regarding user administration authorization

    Hi ALL,
    i needs to give only display authorizations to the user in portal
    From the content administration>>Portal content i am able to restrict at some level for system administration and content administration
    but from content administration i am not able to restrict authorization for
    user administration
    user needs authorization for user administration
    so any one please guide me how can i give display access to users
    Thanks and Regards,
    Kishore

    Hi Kishore,
    Iam not very clear with your question but as per my understanding u want for eg in system administration only portal display to be viewed by user??and similarly in case of user administration and so on.
    In case of that you can
    Browse to Conten admin>Portal Content>content provided by sap>Admin Content>System Administration(User administration acc..)copy the syst admin role and paste it in some othe folder.Open its object and remove all other worksets not required leaving portal display.Now assign this role to particular user.....Hope it helps

    Hello,
         What is the version of the server you are using?
         The steps you have followed are perfectly fine and I don't see any issue there.
         I hope you refreshed the list on the Content Administrator before accessing the application.

    500 Internal Server Error - Web Dynpro Content Administrator
    Any help would be really appreciated...
    I was trying to create/Maintain JCo destions on Web Dynpro Content Administrator caught up with the 500 Internal Server Error
    Error Summary
    While processing the current request, an exception occured which could not be handled by the application or the framework.
    If the information contained on this page doesn't help you to find and correct the cause of the problem, please contact your system administrator. To facilitate analysis of the problem, keep a copy of this error page. Hint: Most browsers allow to select all content, copy it and then paste it into an empty document (e.g. email or simple text file).
    For further information about the Web Dynpro error page, error analysis and a description of well-known error situations, see SAP note 1113811.
    Root Cause
    The initial exception that caused the request to fail, was:

    Possible Reasons:
    1. Some fields for the backend system used to setup the JCO destination are not updated properly (i.e.
    empty) in SLD.
    2. Ensure that the SLD is setup properly. Click on the u201CTest Connectionu201D to check that the SLD is up and running.
    Check section "NullPointerException in the trace when maintaining JCO destinations" in below SDN document:

  • Looking for some best practice regarding Content Administrator access

    Hi. I am looking for some best practice or rule of thumb from SAP or from different companies how they address Portal Content Administrator access in Production environment. Basically, our company is implementing portal to work with SAP BW.  We are on SP 9. Basically, I am trying to determine if we should have 1-2 Portal Content Administrator in Production with 24/7 access or we should limit them from NOT having this.  Can you share with me some ideas of what is right? and what is not?
    Should we have access in Production? Or Should we have this access but limited? By the way, our users are allow to Publish BI reports/queries into Production.

    Hello Michael,
    Refer to this guide about managing initial content in portal.

  • :( Second R/3 S/M configuration error in content administrator  :O

    Hi
    I have a WebAS 640 Java Preview installation.  I have successfully configured two R/3 system in SLD.  But when trying to create the corresponding JCo connections in the content Administrator, it works only for one R/3 system.  It does not even pings the second R/3 system.  Why is this happening?
    I have made the required additions in the host file for the two systems and also in the services file.
    Please help
    Regards,
    Sumith.

    Hi,
    SSO is not configured on any system and I have not imported the Portal certificate too.  But I can ping both R/3 systems  from the command prompt on my portal system.
    If I can configure and work with one R/3 system, why is it not able to do so with a second system?

  • Content Administration Tab is missing for administrator user in  NW CE 7.1

    we have a issue after upgrading the portal to NW CE 7.1 SP00 RTC.
    "Content Administration" Tab is missing for administrator users

    In CE version, we have to manually enable by using "Content Layer Tool"
                  http://<host>:<port>/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prteventname/HtmlbEvent/prtroot/com.sap.portal.content.layers.ContentLayersTool
    This link may lead to "Portal Runtime Error" because "contentLayerTool" is port of high_safety zone
    To access without runtime error, pls follow the below process.
    1. login http://<host>:<port>/irj with admin user
    2. concatenate the below line to browser
        /servlet/prt/portal/prteventname/HtmlbEvent/prtroot/com.sap.portal.content.layers.ContentLayersTool
    3. To enable content admin tab click "Activate Development Mode"

  • New JCo names are not listing in WB Content Administrator

    Dear Friends,
    I have deployed my WebDynpro application on a landscape where the production system got 4 server services running.
    Initially the WD application was using the existing JCo connections.  But on the latest deploy I have to use new JCo connections and I made changes.
    Problem is, these new JCo connection names are not appearing in WebDynpro Content Administrator and still it displays old JCo connections.
    This problem exists with global WD Content Admin. URL as well as with individual server url, except in one server instance where JCos yet to be created.
    But when I execute the application with global URL, it is working fine.
    Intent is to create and use my new JCo connections for the application which are not listing in WB Content Admin.
    Is it require to restart the server services?
    Is it possible to solve this problem without restarting the services?
    Is there any other way to resolve this problem?
    Thanks in advance.
    Lakshmikantha

    Sorry I can't approach to restart the j2ee service at this movement.
    And the application got new JCo name at it's JCO refrences.
    Infact the application is working fine with new JCos on development and quality systems.
    Problem exists only on production system where it got 4 server instances.
    Any hope without restarting services?

  • BAPI call in java through jco destination defined in content Administration

    Hi All,
    Is it possible to use JCO destination defined in Content Administration  to execute BAPI in a java DC class file rather than creating a jco client through code.
    Any pointers for the same?
    regards
    Radhika Kuthiala

    Hi Radhika Kuthiala
    It's possible. Use the code below:
    JCO.Client client;
    try {
        client = JCO.getDestinationClient(rfcDestName);
        client.connect();
    } catch (JCO.Exception ex) {

  • JCO connection in content administrator

    Hi All,
    I am doing a webdynpro Java application to call an RFC via webdynprpo java. After doing all the things. we created a
    JCO connection in content administrator. When we chose the Choose the JCO Connections tab, Two destinations named WD_FLIGHTLIST_MODELDATA_DEST and
    WD_FLIGHTLIST_RFC_METADATA_DEST are shown in this view and both of them have the status disabled. And the create button is also disabled. So we are not able to have a jco connection. What is this so? How can we bring the status enabled? What has to be done for this? Can anyone please provide solution for this?
    Regards,
    Divya

    Hi Divya,
    Are you logged in with Admin rights. try assigning the user to the ADMINISTRATOR group and then check whether it works or not .
    Did you configured SLD?..check the SLD connection is sucessful then only you can create JCO connection.
    Check this link for webdynpro content administrator:
