• I need to restrict printing but keep the Content Type and Page Extraction allowed. How do I keep both the content type and page extraction displaying allowed?

When I change the settings to allow for the content type and page extraction and save it, it shows allowed. When I close the pdf, reopen it, review the security properties, it shows the content type as allowed and the page extraction as disallowed. I need both to stay at allowed, how do make this happen?

The moment that you select not to allow any kind of change done to the file then pages extraction is automatically not allowed as well. There's no way around that.

• Content Area Export / -page switch

I am using Portal Production 3.0.7.6.2 under NT.
If I try to export a content area using the "-page" switch, then I get the following error in SQLPLUS:
SP2-0310: unable to open file "pagename.sql"
any ideas what is wrong?
tks!!

On Windows NT, the content area export script when invoked with the -page option looks for a script file named pagename.sql which was left out of the install (it has been fixed in 3.0.8). Using a text editor, save the following into a file named pagename.sql and place it in the <PORTAL_HOME>/admin/plsql/wwu directory:
/* --- Cut Here --- */
select 'set page_name='| |name from wwpob_page$
where id = (select pageid from wwsbr_sites$ where upper(name) = upper('&&1'))
set serverout on
set echo off
set feedback off
set verify off
set newpage 0
set pagesize 0
set space 0
set heading off
set trimspool on
set termout off
spo pagename.bat
spo off
exit

Hello all,

Links on DTN?Are they on a custom Iview?? Then u control with url mode.
If they are page links, i don think u cud restrict one WD application not to refresh when the whole page getz refreshed.

• Navigating Content Area on Page

I want to create a page with a folder within column 2 of my page.
In column 1, I want a navigation bar. I would like to select a
category or perspective from the navigation bar, and have the
content in column 2 (the folder) updated automatically.
Does anyone know how to do this?
If this isn't possible, are there ways to emulate the process, so
it appears to the user that there is an automatic refresh?

I am trying to do this under Tabs. How do I link to a subpage
and keep that subpage within the main page tabs? I have the
navigation portlet that will open the subpage, but it opens it
up outside of the main page.
Thanks for any help,
Amy
You can do this with a custom navigation portlet or a template
that provides a list of categories and/or perspectives (use the
views WWSBR_ALL_CATEGORIES and WWSBR_ALL_PERSPECTIVES to
construct the list). When the user selects a category or
perspective, go to a page that contains the corresponding
category or perspective portlet.
This means creating a page for every category and perspective.
If you use proper naming conventions, your custom navigation
portlet can dynamically construct a direct access URL to the
right page
(e.g. "http://myserver/pls/myDAD/url/page/mycategory1",
where "mycategory1" is the name of the page containing the
mycategory1 portlet).

• Exporting content areas/pages

Help please!!
I have created content areas and pages on the Oracle's hosted portal demo site and need to export them to our own server.. Can anyone advise on how this process is done and if its possible? your help is appreciated...
thanks

Hy, there is a white paper about export import.
But here comes how to do it:
in $ORACLE_HOME\portal30\admin\plsql\wwu, you can find the import export utilities:
- contexp.cmd
- pageexp.cmd
also the import utilities are here. Use all the parameters in the same order as they come in the example (just type in contexp when you are in the right directory). Do the same for pages. Use -security options if you want to keep the security and the same for contexp with his own -page option. This should be done if you changed the page of the content area. They make a security.dmp and a pobpage.dmp in the current directory ($ORACLE_HOME\portal30\admin\plsql\wwu). If you export 2 content area's don't forget that the -page & -security option will overwrite the pobpage.dmp and security.dmp file, so it will be better to do the export import immediatly after each other. Or copy the files after the export.
Very important is to check the portlets from the content area's if they exist. If you have a portlet provider in the content area and the portlet repository doesn't show that (refresh in the repository can help) then the corresponding portlets in pages will be deleted.
Search on Metalink for the Whitepaper Fill in : Oracle9iAS Portal Export/Import White Paper and you will find all the information.
Good luck

• Advice on content area layout & subfolders

Hi all!
We're just starting to use content areas for real document management, and I was hoping someone could offer some advice on the layout of one or more of these content areas.
I'm trying to build a typical corporate "Document Library". Parts of the library will be available to "Public" corporate users (corporate users who have not logged on to the app yet), other parts will be available to all authenticated users, and other parts will be available to only certain groups. (Relatively easy so far...)
So far I have these all in a single content area called DOCLIB, with two folders: PUBLIC and CORPORATE. (Ultimately there will be a third high-level group for FRANCHISE users -- non-corporate stores.) PUBLIC is accessible to public users; DOCLIB itself and DOCLIB/CORPORATE are accessible to AUTHENTICATED_USERS. PUBLIC contains subfolders such as NEWS, HELP, FAQS, HRDOCS ("public" HR docs), PRESS_RELEASES, etc. CORPORATE contains subfolders such as NEWS, PLANNERS, IT_DOCS, HRDOCS ("logged on only" HR docs), etc.
A few questions:
1. Does it make sense to break out the PUBLIC and CORPORATE folders at the very top level, or are do people generally put the private folders as subfolders of the corresponding public ones? (Ideally I'd rather put these both into the same folder and simply show more documents once the user logs on, but I couldn't get this working properly.)
2. I currently have the "DocLib" content area showing on the main portal page, defaulting to the PUBLIC folder. However, once the users log in, I'd like to switch the focus to the root DOCLIB folder instead of the PUBLIC subfolder. As it runs now, the focus remains on the PUBLIC folder, and the user must click on the folder path to move to the root folder. Is there any way around this short of creating two different tabs, one for public users and the other for logged-on users? (Once they log on now I show an additional 3-6 tabs on that page.)
3. I'd like to show certain folders (such as "News/System News" and "News/Company News" in their own portlets (in addition to inside the overall Document Library portlet). Unfortunately, once the user logs in, the folder path is displayed, and the user can navigate to parent folders while inside this portlet. (This will horribly confuse some of our users...) I know I can turn off the folder path for this folder, but then it is also gone when this folder is displayed inside the overall "Document Library" portlet (where I'd like to still show the folder path). Is there any way around this?
4. Is there any straightforward way to display the same document in more than one folder? If I use perspectives, it looks like I then give up control over how the page gets formatted, if I use a Folder Link, the folder opens up in its own page instead of inside the portal area, and if I use a URL to point the "second" copy back to the first, this will be difficult for later content managers to maintain. Am I missing another easy way to do this?
I know how to do all this via the PDK, but we're trying to use as much of the built-in content-management tools as possible instead of building more PDK-based code.
btw: We are still in Portal 3.0.8, although we're moving to 3.0.9 as soon as possible.
Sorry for the length of the post, but any insight anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated!
- Bill

Hi All
We are using release 2, and we are looking into using a page template containing a JSP portlet for a consistent navigation bar/header. What do you think of this approach?
Regards
Harry
Jon,
There are a variety of ways to do this:
One way is to modify the page that the content area is on to contain the portlets that you would like on your page. Those portlets would contain your banners, links, logos, etc. Note that the page under a content area can not contain tabs.
Another way to do this is to create separate pages and link to those pages from your navigation bar manually.
Note that in release 2 of Oracle9iAS Portal we have combined the content area and page concepts so that there is no more 'drill out of the portal page' loss of context, so you could use Oracle9i Application Release 2 also.

• Content Area doesn't appear although Import Successful

I am testing an export/import of some Portal objects to prepare for a migration from development to production. I am using Portal 3.0.9.8.3. I am exporting using Doc ID: 146645.1 as a guide (exporting and importing in the documented order). Everything indicates a successful Export/Import. Both the export and import logs show records being exported and records being imported with the message "Import terminated successfully without warnings." in both logs. When I get back into Portal on the Prod machine, the Content Area and Page are not there. Also, the tables which indicated records being imported by the import log file, have no rows in them. What's going wrong?
John

I have this same problem. I am trying to export/import certain parts of my development portal to my production version. I have successfully run the scripts to export a content area from my development machine and then sucessfully ran the import script on my production machine. Yet I can't see the content area on my production version. I suspect this is because the two portals have different DAD's. The development DAD is crp1_portal30. The production DAD is imsi_portal30. I have tried going into the Listener Gateway Settings Page, but it comes up asking for authentication. I have tried every username/password in the system and can't get in.
1. What is the default username/password for this. We didn't set this up. It was set up by 11i Rapid Install.
2. Do you think that's why my content area won't show up?
3. How can I create a new instance of portal, i.e. have multiple portals on the same machine.

• Import Of Content Areas Muddles up Content

We are in the process of exporting our portal applications, components, content areas and pages from our development server to the live environment.
We are using the contexp.cmd for export and contimp.cmd for the import of the content areas but after it has been imported the contents areas are all jumbled up. We have ran the process several times and used 2 different live servers but each time the content areas come across and the majority of contents are jumbled. Each time we have ran the same process we get different results.
Has any one experienced this or has any idea how to prevent it from happening.

Database are 8.1.7.1.1
Portal = 3.0.7.6.2
What happens is the folders will have the correct names and some of the items within the folders will be correct but randomly items from separate folders will appear. There seems to be no pattern and we have tried the import \ export several times each time with an incorrect but different result.
This has now been raised as a Tar.

• Page Background Lost on Regions above Content Area for Some Pages

Hi - I am a iWeb novice, but not a total rookie on this kind of software...
I have a simple iWeb project that applies a gradient fill to the page background, and applies one of the gradient colors to the Browser background on every web page. I am using the "White" theme, and I have trouble with the "Photos" page template drawing Page backgrounds correctly. I have my content area set wider than the default to 1008 pixels to fill a 1024-wide display. I set my display area to 877 pixels high to coincide with the largest media dimension that I see with the inspector.
I looked here for previous discussions on this and failed to find anything. Maybe I missed a post...
Initially, most web pages load and display correctly the first time. One Photos web page, however, displays the Browser background - not the Page background above the centerline of the page name.
On several pages with a "Photos" template (but not all), the initial page is displayed correctly. But, when I click on a photo thumbnail and the page is revised to display the larger photo image in the content area, the Browser background is displayed in error above the content area, and the Page background displays correctly below the top of the content area.
I have looked for some consistent issue or characteristic that might let me predict when this problem occurs, but it ll looks rather random. It is repeatable, though - clearing caches and reloading the same page exposes the problem the same way a second time for the same page, in other words...
Is this a bug, or something subtle in placement or overlap of areas on the page that I haven't noticed? Anything to be careful with to avoid this problem?
Thanks anyone for any advice!

Hi Cyclosaurus and Apnewbie -
Thank you for your interest and replies. Here is a simple page that illustrates the problem I am having with a Page Background Gradient Fill on top of a Browser Background Solid Fill
http://web.mac.com/bccrowe/Troubleshooting/KyliesArt2.html
Here, I intend the page from the very top to the bottom of the defined content area to transition from pink to white as the eye moves left to right. The browser background is also pink to add some depth to the image - that's what you will see when the page loads.
Click on the child's drawing to present the image, and you should see the gradient disappear above the centerline of the second text box (above the comment area) when the page finished loading with the large drawing.
The Content area coincides precisely with the bottom of that second text box. I have tried to move the content area further below the text boxes so that they are not imtimate - no difference. I haven't tried to separate the text boxes, yet.
The two text boxes immediately above the content area are 45px x 630 px (18 pt text) and 30 px x 630 px (14 pt text) - they overlap by about 10 pix.
The content area that displays the thumbnail is 1008 px x 445 px (I thought that I set that at 877px...). I can try to set the content area to 877 px... Maybe this is the problem - maybe the Page Background shifts down to coincide with the bottom of the next page#2... Hmmm...
When you click on the thumbnail, the page#2 content area is 1008 px x 877 px.
In iWeb, this all looks the way I want it to.
Please diddle with the page, and ask me any new questions! I appreciate your insight and help. In reality, Kylie won't notice the background change, but my next objective is a corporate site - this child's site is my "training" site. iWeb is really pretty flexible and easy to use. If I there's a work-around or something to avoid, I can live with iWeb just fine.
Thanks again -
Brian

• URL for pages that contain content areas

Hello
I've created a Content Area that has many folders in it. I've created a new portal page with the content area and I want to use URL links to point to that page and a specific folder maintaining my portlets in their place. How can I construct the URL?
Thanks

Hi,
I think I understand your question, however not sure.
What you can do is url linking like:
portalpages:
http://localhost/pls/portal30/url/page/<pagename>
(sub-folder) in contentarea's:
http://localhost/pls/portal30/url/folder/<contentarea-name>/<subfolder>/<subfolder>etc

• Portlets on Content Area Page

We are currently using 3.0.8 and are trying to add a footer region to the content area page. So the page has a header in the top region, a navbar and folder portlet in the middle region, and a footer in the bottom region.
When we put the footer in the bottom region on the content area page, it does not show up. If we move it to the middle region directly below the folder portlet, it shows up fine.
Has anyone else seen this behavior, any workaround?

We tried creating a page with only the folder portlet on it for the content area and trying to put another portlet below it. This still gives the same behavior.
We also tried it in 3.0.9 and did not see the problem there.

• Content Area in Portal Page: subfolder vs category

Hi everybody,
i've tried to publish a content area + navbar in a portal page: if i click to a SUBFOLDER on the folder portlet , the subfolder appears in the context of the portal page. But if i click a link to a CATEGORY, the category is loaded in the content area and not in the portal page. Does anybody know how to keep the content area in the portal page, that is
to refresh the
portlet in the context of the portal page ?
Thanks.

Currently not possible. We're considering this for a future release.

• Synchronization of Categories/Perspectives between Respository and Content Area

We are currently running a Oracle Database of 8.1.7.1 and Oracle Portal version 3.0.9.8.3a. Our problem is that when we place a folder that has been put into a category in a Content Area we have created, it does not show up in the Portal Repository in the same category. The Portal Repository always shows the folders as being in the General Category, not the specific one we created.
The Categories were created in shared objects, so every Content Area we create can see those categories. Is there something we need to do to have the categories syncronize so we don't have to put the folders we publish as a porlet into categories in both places?
Also, are using the Portal Repository incorrectly? Since we can not make a folder publish as portlet within the portal reposity, we do everything in our own Content Areas and then the Portal Reposity shows those items under our section in the list. Is there something we install incorrectly or not using right?

Phillip,
The two are indeed subtly different. The experts are on the content area forum but basically a content area page is designed to automatically provide easy navigation within a content area. This includes automatically "doing the right thing" for the navbar portlets.
Note the links on the navbar portlet and their respective targets. They always target the content area page so that the navigation in a content area is seamless (i.e. the middle region updates w/ the current folder).

• Portal Content area not displaying in Portal

I tried to disable Portal favorites option from Content admin -> Default Frame work Page -> Detailed navigation. Instead of only disabling the default navigation I have disabled the entire Portal content area and I am now not able to see any content in the Portal except the masthead area and the Top level navigation.
Can any one please help me on this.
Thanks.

Hi,
Check the content area iview in the Desktop inner page in framework page.If this iview is not there then it will not show the content area.
If desktop inner page is deeted then also you will not see the content area.
If so please add the content area iview indside the Desktop inner page then you can see the content area for the users.
Content area iview will be available under the following path of the portal
Content Administration > Portal Content > Content provided by sap > Admin Interfaces > Admin Iview Templates > Content Area (view).
Thanks,
