Content database and share point configuration databases in different sql servers

HI
i have a sharepoint 2010 farm and connected to a sql server ,
here it can be possible to connect all sharepoint configuration databases to one sql server,
and content database in different sql server ,
if i do in future can i face any issues?
adil

Yes you can. You can specify the SQL server whilst creating the databases and as long as you have configured the required permissions that will be fine. If you really wanted you could have a dedicated SQL instance for each database, although that would be
very wasteful.
There are no significant issues, you will have a bit more maintenance to look after two SQL servers but that's about it.

  • How to use same credentials in third party web page/app/system as in Office 365 and Share Point?

    I want my users to be able to login with same username/password in my reporting system as in they use for their email, office 365 and share point.
    Since the web is in PHP i found some ideas that use CURL to get the cookie but i['m wondering if there is another way to do that?
    All API show cases and docs that i looked are so confusing that i can't even figure out if it is possible at all and how. It would be great to be able to reset passwords through my system and also to create new users. So that i have all centralized in one
    place.

    there is a workaround you can try, create audience and add DL to them and deal with the audience or convert DL to groups

  • Refresh database and another is create database

    Hi All,
    In the Hyperion planning under the administration menu there are two option, one is refresh database and another is create database.
    Is there any way to hide/delete or not give the access to users of ”create database” option? I mean other than admin I don’t want any users to see “create database option” once they login.
    Thank you

    There is no option to hide the create database button, but the good news is the planning users won't be able to see that option anyways. Due to the provisioning, only Admins have access to the Administation Menu.
    Cheers,

  • Exchange 2013 Database and Mailbox sizing configuration feedback?

    Hello,
    I am in the process of deploying Exchange 2013 in our environment, it will co-exist with Exchange 2010 until we move everyone over to the new server.
    My question is regards to the disk storage design, we have a SAN that Exchange will share with the rest of our Virtual Machines. I plan to have 20 live databases and 20 archive databases so I can balance out mailboxes per database so that each db is roughly
    100GB in size.
    The goal is is to keep the size down so that any database specific maintenance can finish quicker and if I ever had to deal with db corruption it is faster to restore, backup, etc.
    My question is, is there a lot of overhead I will be adding onto the Exchange server by having 40 databases mounted?
    Currently 300 users, 3.5TB in exchange databases between live and archive mailboxes (no mailbox caps), with 40 databases (20/20) it spreads out nicely with roughly 15 users per db, and db size is roughly 100GB.
    My concern is having 40 databases mounted on a single EXCH2013 multi-role server? We have no DAG, etc.
    The machine is a 4vCPU/32GB and the disks are on a Compellent tiered SAN shared among other VMs.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    It depends on various things. I would suggest you to start with Server Role Requirement Calculator to see your hardware is sufficient to handle the load or not...

  • Lion server and Share Points

    My company just got a new iomega SAN and I wanted to test it on a lion server. So I setup lion server on a mac pro and configured the SAN to the switch. The problem is that when I go to server app, File sharing & click + to add a share point Im not able to add the shares from the SAN, only the Macintosh HD shows.
    But when I switch to my snow leopard server I can add the SAN shares with no problem. Does anybody know how I can get this working with lion server?

    You should check OS X logs and Windows client logs to have a better understanding of what happened.

  • Panther server and share points on separate internal drives

    I'm using an old Graphite G4 with OS 10.3 server. I've installed the system on a small drive, and want to set up share points on a raided pair of larger internal drives, but have not been able to find the way to do it, as server admin doesn't see the raid. Surely this can't be that unusual a setup...
    Clues?

    IIRC, in 10.3 you use Workgroup Manager to designate share points
    It's been a while, but from memory you open Workgroup Manager, connect to the server, then click the 'sharing' icon in the top bar. From here you can choose any directory on the system and setup the sharing rules.

  • SSIS ETL does not pick the file from Share point when it execute through SQL Agent job

    I have created one SSIS packages, which pick the file from the Share point document library. its work successfully, once it execute through the VS project application.
    But when i create a job in SQL Server Agent for this package then it does not pick the file and job getting fail.
    Just for more update, SQL Server has been install in Cluster mode and using BIDS 2012 with SQl Server 2012.

    Hi PriyankGupta,
    SQL Server Integration Services is not cluster awareness, and does not support failover from one cluster node to another. So, in your clustered environment, make sure SSIS is installed on each node in the cluster. In other word, SSIS must be installed on
    the server where the SQL Server Agent job is created.
    If you use any third party task/component or drivers, make sure they are installed on the SQL Server Agent job server. Besides, also pay attention to the protection level of the package as well as 32-bit or 64-bit runtime mode of the package. For more information,
    please see:

    If the issue persists, please post the error message in the job history for further analysis.

  • Can database and application services install on two different OS?

    Hi All,
    Our customer want to install Oracle E-Business Suite 12 on two separate nodes, but both of nodes are running different OS. One node is Red Hat Linux which will be the database server, and the other node is Microsoft Windows 2003 which will be the application server. My questions are whether there will be a problem to communicate between the database server and application or whether there will be a problem to do the configuration for them to work. Please help me on these questions.
    Thank you
    Lin

    I agree with Fadi...As long as it's supported, you shouldn't have problems. Or at least, if you do have problems, Oracle will be able to help you. :-) Oracle does provide support for "split-tier" configurations, but you should confirm that the one you propose is a supported combination.
    I recommend checking the certification matrix on Metalink, and if that seems ambiguous, log an SR with Oracle Support for clarification.

  • Powershell to create link between Access database and an ODBC Pervasive database

    So, I have the following script (thanks to JRV!):
    function Link-ExternalODBCTable{
          Param(
             $accessFile,
             $tableName,
             $tableName2
         if(-not $tableName2){$tableName2=$tableName1}
         $access.DoCmd.TransferDatabase(
                 [microsoft.office.interop.access.AcDataTransferType]::acLink,
                'ODBC Database',
                $accessFile,
                [microsoft.office.interop.access.AcObjectType]::acTable,
                 $tableName,
                 $tableName2
    $testODBC='ODBC;DSN=A1013v2012'
     Add-Type -Assembly Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access
     $access = New-Object -ComObject Access.Application
     $Access.OpenCurrentDataBase("E:\MyDir\TagLink.mdb")
     Link-ExternalODBCTable $testODBC all_per
     $access.CloseCurrentDataBase()
    What I get is:
    Exception calling "TransferDatabase" with "6" argument(s): "ODBC--connection to 'A1013v2012' failed."
    When I try from the ODBC Administrator, it tests fine (Connection Successful!). This is a 32-bit ODBC connection, using the Pervasive ODBC Engine Interface. Same as we use for other ODBC connections to this database. It is a System DSN, as opposed to User
    or File.
    I tried to skinny this down to:
    Add-Type -Assembly Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access
     $Access = New-Object -ComObject Access.Application
     $Connected = $Access.OpenCurrentDataBase("E:\MyDir\TagLink.mdb")
     $access.DoCmd.TransferDatabase(
                 [microsoft.office.interop.access.AcDataTransferType]::acLink,
                'ODBC Database',
                'ODBC;DSN=A1013v2012',
                [microsoft.office.interop.access.AcObjectType]::acTable,
                 'all_per',
                 'all_per'
     $Disconnected = $Access.CloseCurrentDataBase()
    ...which yields the same error.
    Where am I going wrong here?
    mpleaf

    If I try that, I get a new message:
    Exception calling "TransferDatabase" with "6" argument(s): "Could not find installable ISAM."
    The article you reference, I believe, is for SQL connection, not Pervasive SQL. I know the DSN works fine. We use it for other things a LOT.
    I'm at a loss...and I can't seem to find the right combination...
    mpleaf
    The point is that newer Access does not appear to support DSNs on ODBC without an full ODBC driver.  If you go DSN-less you will include the provider.
    Pervasive has always been a pain.  They break all rules and always have.  If this is Intuit Pervasive then it is even worse.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • Can you setup CDC on Replicated Database and not the source database

    I just want to confirm the following:
    Can you setup Change Data Capture on the replicated database. (SQL 2008 R2, SQL 2012)
    To be clear CDC will not be setup on the source server database, it will only be setup on the replicated database.
    Everything I've read so far says you can but there are pit falls and probably is not a good idea.
    What are the pros and cons?
    What is best practice.

    Yes, you can.
    Have you seen this article?
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/repltalk/archive/2010/04/19/change-data-capture-best-practices.aspx
    I use replication all the way. You can replicate to a different table of a different schema in the same database. In most cases where people do cdc I find that they can use replication to achieve the same goals.
