Content Management approach in a JSF application

Hi all,
I had developed a JSF application. Now I would like to manage my application in the content management approach, that is changing the text content or image by means of an admin console. Kindly suggest me if there is any way to accomplish this.
Thanks in Advance!!

The richfaces editor component comes to mind, as a start.
But honestly, I would say this is a clear case of too late. If you want the content of your application to be managed, the application should have been designed and developed with that idea in mind from the very beginning. What you have now is probably just some static JSF/facelets pages with perhaps a facelets template here or there, but what you want is dynamic content where you can swap out text, images and probably have some control over where they are placed and how they space. That is not going to happen out of the box, it requires development work and careful planning. Good luck trying to work that into an existing product.

  • Importing Contact numbers through Content Manager

I have imported my phone numbers through content manager onto my iphone and every number is there except all the fax numbers and email addresses. Rather than inputing each one manually, is there a way that I can import all the contact info for all persons?

    Allan,
For reference, Content Manager is the Windows-only application provided by AT&T for reading contact information that has been transferred from a SIM card to a USB Flash drive. AT&T also provides support for Content Manager through the AT&T owned retail stores.
In general when you are exporting the data you export it to a .CSV file, and then tell Outlook or Outlook Express how to read the data. If you have contacts have all the information in Content manager, make sure you are exporting all of the fields to the .CSV file.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • Content Management Portlet

    Hi,
I have been a problem when I import the content management portlet (cmsTools) into my application... My application does not recognize the icons and images references... When I run sampleportal that comes with Weblogic it´s work. Anyone can help me? Thank´s
    Version: Weblogic Portal 8.1 SP5

    Helder

    Hi
I have exactly the same issue.
This problem is due to the way URL s to static images are treated in the cmsTools Portlet.
In fact, in the sampleportal, this tag
    <render:resourceUrl var="resourceRootPath" contextualPath='/' />cmsTools/images/cm_home.gifreturns :
    http://localhost:7011/PortalApp/cmsTools/images/cm_home.gifwhich is the correct path.
But in another portal, the same tag returns :
http://localhost:7011/PortalApp/?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=page1cmsTools/images/cm_home.gifI don't know how to remove the params from the URL.
Defining an url-template tag in the url-template-config.xml file does not work as the queryString parameter is mandatory.
So I am looking for a solution too...

  • ANNOUNCE:  Designing JSF Applications: a Storyboard Approach — Part 2

    Hello,
In the second article of this series on using storyboard design for Web applications, Steven Murray explains how to map the Storyboard design to a JSF implementation, giving special attention to Storyboard Controllers.
    Here is an excerpt:
In part 1 of this series we discussed how to create storyboard designs for Web applications. In part 2 we are going to focus on how to map the design to a JSF implementation, giving special attention to Storyboard Controllers.
Controllers are the heart of the presentation tier, where they manage the behavior of the UI and direct the flow of information between the presentation and business models. Almost every article I read on JSF, and even the specification itself, references Model View Controller (MVC) without providing any concrete examples on how to actually use it in a JSF project. I hope to change that with the introduction of the Presentation Model.

I think there is some thing missing in my configurations. Can you please tell how to deploy and run a hibernate application. Is there any problem occurs while accessing another DataBase from Oracle Content Management? What are the setting I have to do for running a hibernate application from Oracle CMSDK?
    Thanks in advance
    Basil

    Hi,
I got the solution for my problem. The error came because of the hibernate pooling. I removed the hibernate pooling lines from my hibernate configuration file and it is working fine.lines

  • Problem with manage/consume content separation approach

    Hi,
In the Portal 10G manual and in several other sources, ORACLE recommends separating content-management from content-publication in different page groups. That's the approach we've adopted, and it seems reasonable. BUT now I find that contents published as portlets are like black boxes not searchable in the page group where they are published! That and not giving search feature at all to the users is almost the same! There must be some solution for this, I find it a major drawback difficult to ignore, since it makes this approach unacceptable.
Please, any help on this will be very appreciated, for it may yield critical decisions in our portal development approach.
    Big thanks in advance.

The default portal search is a respository-based search, so will always return the page on which the item is managed. In your use case, it probably makes sense to either (1) not expose the page attribute in your search result (2) use UltraSearch as your end user facing search. Note that UltraSearch creates its index via a crawler, therefore will only return content that is 'public'.
If you have additional, follow-up questions on search options, I recommend a post on the portal search forum: http://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jsp?forum=12

  • ICWC content management - application object ECC Order

CRM 5.0 in IMG t-code CRMC_IC_CM in Define Application Object entry ECC Order for the ERP order can be added and assigned to the Content Management profile.
But if you assign your order in the Agent Inbox to use the ERP order, the document search will not have a link to the order.  Using the CRM sales order screen to open a document will link the order number to the document search.

  • T-Approach for content Management

    Hi All,
What is T- approch in enterprise content management? Please throw some light on it.
    Thanks,
    Prashant.

    Hi,
Its somthing like Use the combined power of a horizontal and a vertical solution !
    Knowledge Management (KM) with
    SAP NetWeaverTM–
The horizontal solution and the PLM Document Management
    System (DMS) –
The vertical solution. It becomes T- approach if it KM connect with DMS by dms connectors.
    Thanks,

    Hi
Why dont you enable RFCs in the SAP system as WebServices and consume them? If you have a very old SAP system then use JCo (JCA) / JRA and connect through the RFC layer.

  • Need a login strategy for JSF application

I have inherited a JSF application (prototype) and need to modify this application to require a user login. Right now, the application requires a login only for a sub-portion of the application, well after JSF is up and running. That has to change to require the login before the JSF application is invoked.
Basically, what I want to do is present a standard login form (user name, password, and "submit" button). This information will be sent to "j_security_check" where the servlet engine will validate the user against an LDAP server and then look up some user role information. I have no control over user authentication. Once the user has logged in, the application will be looking at user roles to determine what elements of the JSF application they are permitted to access.
In addition, I need to be able to detect when the user's session has expired. When this occurs, I need to automatically reroute the user back to the login page. The prototype I inherited currently has all of the JSF backing beans check to see if the Session is still valid before executing any actions. This seems rather tedious and error-prone to me.
I am not very familiar with security and user authentication issues (somebody else always wrote that part). I think the approach I need to take is: (1) create a login page. (2) create a login error page. (3) create a filter to check to see if the user's session has expired and, if so, re-route the request to the login page.
    My questions:
    1. Is this the best approach? If not , what is a better approach?
    2. Can I use JSF elements for the various login pages, or do I need to use JSP or HTML elements only?
    3. Can you point me to an example or tutorial that explains what I need to do?
I've looked at a couple of servlet books, a JSF book, and Sun's online Java tutorials, but I don't see anything that looks quite like what I think I need to do here.
Once I get passed security handling, the rest of the application is all JSF and will be easy to build.
Thanks for your thoughts, comments, and assistance.

I have three macs and use one of them as the TM backup destination (that mac has 4 large external disks, I devote one disk at a TM backup for each of the macs) - that mac is also the file server. (I do also use an externally attached HD on one of the other macs as redundancy.) The system works very well and when set up requires no administration, it's automatic! Since the backups are made hourly, I have fresher data than my old system of doing nightly backups using a traditional backup app.
I even had to do a full restore last week on one of the macs and found the process worked flawlessly, had the mac up and running after the 2 hour restore finished.
For critical data (business or professional) I also recommend doing occasional boot disk backups using another backup app. I do that with one of my macs. Note: although I have wireless capability with each mac, I use wired Ethernet connections for speed and reliability.

I'd like to config an application with:
    - myfaces-tobago
    - or tomahawk
But I don't know where I must to place each jar files in order to the application can work fine. That is the big issue:
Where MUST I to place EACH jar file in order to application does not complain!
is there any template with a bit project pre-configured?
I will be very pleased with any help!

  • I can no longer edit my custom content management system using Firefox

    Hello,
I work for the University of North Carolina. We have a very old custom content management system that is built in Oracle (UCM). When logged in, it has little edit buttons that allow you to click on items and launch edit windows. I don't know what's behind that -- it's not Java. I'm thinking javascript? All I know is that since the Firefox upgrade to 13.0.1, the edit buttons no longer display, and the sites are not editable.
So far, the only way we've been able to allow people to edit their sites is by forcing them to use IE9 in compatibility mode. All other browsers fail for various reasons. Firefox is our workhorse browser, but we're desperate to have Firefox back.
I understand we also have some problems with our Remedy application -- not sure what's happening, but it's also no longer functional in Firefox. I'm wondering if there is a patch in the works that will address these issues?
BTW, it sounds a lot like this issue here: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/930042

Drat... So, we tried taking out the javascript entirely. No real change, except lightbox actions would not function. Then, we tried referencing a different javascript version. No difference, except that lightboxes and Carousels still would not function.
To see if the $ error was universal across all of our sites, I logged into four or five other UCM sites. None of them threw the $ error, only the Art site. What's interesting is that for all sites, you can see editable areas if you look for them (e.g. mouse randomly around the areas where there used to be buttons to click on), but the icons continue to not show up.
The warnings coming from the console seem fairly benign, and it's only the Art site that throws a definite error. The only thing that seems consistent across all sites is the warning: "server does not support RFC 5746, see CVE-2009-3555".
Any other thoughts? I'm not sure a guest logon would help, but I can certainly pursue that line of action if you'd like to dig a little deeper.
    Thanks in advance,
    - Veda

  • How can I add graphics and other items to the content manager in PSE 10?

I am hoping to add some jpg and png files to my content manager in PSE 10 for easy access, but can't figure out how.  Would appreciate any help so I can start scrapbooking with my new software!

Steps from other forum post with folder locations translated to Mac
II. Place the files in the appropriate directory.
Copy those three files into this directory:
    "HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/10.0/Photo Creations/backgrounds"
III. Have PSE recognize the new files.
    Browse to this directory:
    "HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/10.0/Locale/en_US"
and delete or rename this file:
    MediaDatabase.db3
    Browse to this directory:
    "HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/10.0"

  • Content Management using WLP Vs using a Third Party CM Tool

    Hi All,
In our Application we have a Workflow which we earlier implemented using WLI and stored the Content in File System ( The Dis advantages with this is no versioning capability , hard to manage the Content etc..)
Now we are plannning to use WLP's Content Management Capabilities.
Does the Library Services support a workflow ?? Does Workflow Definitions conform to any standard ?? (Like BPEL etc)
The Content we have is a set of forms ( XML Based) and are unique for each user Task . Might be using the goal technology to capture the data from the Users..
I would like to know the pros and cons of using WLP Content Management Features vs Storing the Content in a Full fledged CM tool and accessing it from the Portlets Deployed.
Features we are looking for are..
Versioning , Search Capabilities , History info
    Thanks

How do I create plan.xml for every env Im not sure what you mean. Use vi/notepad if you want! See the section 'Using an Existing Deployment Plan to Configure an Application' in the link. You simply need to create this plan once with the value you want and you can use the same one with a different path value(the one you want to change) for each environment. Whether you want to create a template plan.xml whose value is replaced by an ant build is upto you.
Plan.xml is similar to a WLST script, you'd only need to parameterise the actual value you want to use as the path(and you'd have to run both for every deployment) - Im not sure this value is accessible over WLST though..

  • URGENT: How to debug non-reproducable problem(s) in ADF JSF application?

This is one of the most anoying things in programing.... We have JSF application developed by JDev 10.1.3 and deployed on AS. It works fine but almost once or twice per day users complain that, say on a certain page (could be any page) they click on a button or a link and nothing happens. Sometimes it looks like the browser is trying to open a page but never does and sometimes the link or a button is dead. I looked into log file under opmn/logs and could not find anything?
This is very urgent, so please, please if you have any hint on how to approach this problem, let me know. At this time I cannot file the Service Request with Oracle since they would ask me to create sample code and reproduce the problem which is just not possible.
    please help.

    Hi,
if you are on JDeveloper 10.1.3.0 then chances are that these are concurrency issues. If a user starts a long running query then others may be blocked by this. This is fixed in JSF RI that is contained in JDeveloper 10.1.3.1
Its just a guess. To prove my assumption, make sure you run the app with a single seat and see if the issue reproduces or exclude queries from the tests.
