Content Manager Framework
I was wondering if anyone knew of an open source framework for AS3 that acts as a content manager? The idea being the app is already installed and the manager would try to load a local file from the device/external storage first and if it doesn't exist then it hits a public server to download it and then cache that file for any future requests.
This wouldn't be terribly hard to write but looking to take some shortcuts where I can
Thanks!
Hi,
Did you have a chance to look into WebLogic Portal 8.1 SP3? Check out the new Library Services features, which includes versioning and simple approval:
http://e-docs.bea.com/wlp/docs81/adminportal/help/CM_MAN_LifecycleOV.html
We also provide a few ootb portlets that allow users to interact with the CM system. Let us know if you have additional questions.

How to deploy hibernate application in Oracle Content Management SDK?
Hi All,
I have a hibernate application which is perfectly working in Tomcat Server. I need to deploy the application under an OC4J Instance of Oracle Content Management SDK.
I have deployed the application under one OC4J Instance, but when I submitting the login page of the application, some errors are coming. The error is given below.

I think there is some thing missing in my configurations. Can you please tell how to deploy and run a hibernate application. Is there any problem occurs while accessing another DataBase from Oracle Content Management? What are the setting I have to do for running a hibernate application from Oracle CMSDK?
Thanks in advance
BasilHi,
I got the solution for my problem. The error came because of the hibernate pooling. I removed the hibernate pooling lines from my hibernate configuration file and it is working fine.lines
Thanks

Out of the box porlets for Content Management with BEA Portal
I am looking at BEA Portal for a simple Intranet site with some basic content management system capabilities. I would like to implement this without the use of a third party tool and wanted to know if there are any open source or out of the box BEA portlets/web-apps with basic CMS capabilities beyond what has been shown in the Portal tutorials around CMS. From doing the tutorials, I have learned how to manage content, and how to build a site from scratch to access the content using the <cm:> tags. However, without additional third party products such as Documentum or Interwoven, is there any free BEA/open source portlets to:
- Configure exposure of this content in a runtime framework? (ie content manager can expose new content from the repository by a configurable admin GUI, place where this content is on the page)
- Allow for a simple approval workflow where content that gets added to the repository by user A has to be approved by user B before automatically exposing?
Interested to know if custom portal type development is the only way to do these kind of simple functions, or third party product.Hi,
Did you have a chance to look into WebLogic Portal 8.1 SP3? Check out the new Library Services features, which includes versioning and simple approval:

Content Management System (CMS) vs Knowledge Management (KM)
Hi,
What is the difference between CMS and KM? Is CMS part of KM? How do you install CMS or KM? I need to be able to install CMS.
Thanks,Hi,
"CMS" would in the first place only be a generic term that you can call any product that manages content.
At SAP I am aware of the following similar terms:
<b>KM -</b> Java-based CMS, integration framework for 3rd party CMS's and more of SAP NetWeaver, runs in the Portal
<b>CM -</b> The architectural part of KM that deals with basic content management services. With additional services and TREX this combines to KM.
<b>DMS -</b> "Document management system", R/3-based system for management of engineering documents, bases on "KPro" in Web AS ABAP, part of mySAP PLM, integrates into KM via repository manager
<b>KW -</b> KPro-based system for managing SAP-related documentation and training
<b>Content Server - </b>Object storage location for KPro-managed documents (see DMS)
<b>KPro -</b> "Knowledge Provider", deep level very generic set of ABAP methods to manage document attachment objects in an R/3 environment
Hope that clarifies...

Fault Policy Management Framework in 10.1.3.3
Hi,
According to the Oracle Documentation, 10133technote. It says
1) "A fault policy can be associated at the following levels:
Partner link,Port type, Process & Domain."
- Here can you through a light on "Process" n what "Process" means
- Is it Refering to a BPEL Process or a "Process" in <faultPolicyBindings>
- Can we have multiple "Process" for a <faultPolicyBindings>
2) "The framework looks for fault policy bindings in the following files (in order of priority):
- In the bpel.xml file at the process level
- In the domain level file "
- what entry should go in bpel.xml (are we really have to edit bpel.xml, created by JDEV)
- what does it mean Process Level & Domain Level
- where we can have a thin line between "Process Level" & "Domain Level"
and How they differ-in while at Implemenation level
Lastly what are the files that we need to modify/edit to make faultPolicy work.
Thanx in advHello,
See comments below:
Hi user568921,
Thanx for an immediate reply.
Apologize for the long list of questions.
1) Already we can have expentional Handling in BPEL,
then why this
Fault Management Framework be used on top of this
[ irrespective of your BPEL Process has Expectional
Handling or not (pl. correct me if im wrong)]
more over i have to restart the server for each
modification,
this is not that recommended when it goes to
Production.
1a) if i have both BPEL Expectional Handling and
Fault Management Framework applied to my Process
which one preceedes.
Fault Management Framework is used for generic fault
handling on a deployed server.
Since the change affects all deployed processes, we do
not recommend changing policy or bindings in production.
We are providing a client api in 10.1.3.4.0 to reload fault
policy and binding files.
Fault Management Framework precedes BPEL "catch". You can
attempt retry actions, if this fails, invoke java code to
email an administrator and mark the activity for human
recovery or do a rethrowFault to pass to BPEL exception
handling.
2) This is what my bpel.xml files contains
<?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'UTF-8'?>
<BPELSuitcase>
<BPELProcess id="FaultPolicyManagement"
src="FaultPolicyManagement.bpel">
<partnerLinkBindings>
<partnerLinkBinding name="client">
<property
name="wsdlLocation">FaultPolicyManagement.wsdl</prope
ty>
</partnerLinkBinding>
<partnerLinkBinding name="sayHelloService">
<property
name="wsdlLocation">sayHelloService3.wsdl</property>
</partnerLinkBinding>
<partnerLinkBinding
name="FaultPolicyManagementSync">
<property
name="wsdlLocation">url?wsdl</property>
</partnerLinkBinding>
artnerLinkBindings>
</BPELProcess>
<faultPolicyBindings>
process faultPolicy="defaultPolicy"/>
<process faultPolicy="anvvPolicy"/>
<partnerLink
k faultPolicy="DefaultPolicy"></partnerLink>
<partnerLink faultPolicy="anvvPolicy">
<name>FaultPolicyManagementSync</name>
<portType
tType
xmlns:db="http://FaultPolicyManagementSync">db:FaultPo
licyManagementSync_plt</portType>
</partnerLink>
</faultPolicyBindings>
/BPELSuitcase>
when i edit the bpel.xml with
<faultPolicyBindings></faultPolicyBindings> and
deploy it
all the <faultPolicyBindings></faultPolicyBindings>
is resetting back to original bpel.xml
( The Content between
<faultPolicyBindings></faultPolicyBindings> is taken
from fault-bindings.xml file )
why it is so ?
and my fault-bindings.xml is
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<faultPolicyBindings version="2.0.1"
xmlns="http://schemas.oracle.com/bpel/faultpolicy"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
<process faultPolicy="DefaultPolicy"/>
<process faultPolicy="anvvPolicy"/>
<partnerLink
k faultPolicy="DefaultPolicy"></partnerLink>
<partnerLink faultPolicy="DefaultPolicy2">
<name>FaultPolicyManagementSync</name>
<portType
tType
xmlns:db="http://FaultPolicyManagementSync">db:FaultPo
licyManagementSync_plt</portType>
</partnerLink>
</faultPolicyBindings>
and DefaultPolicy.xml & DefaultPolicy2.xml is same as
what is there in the server.
Is the file contents correct in Implementation.
Only one process tag is allowed.
2a) if Fault Management Framework applied and NO
<faultPolicyBindings></faultPolicyBindings> is added
to bpel.xml
and if it is left as it is (i.e., default bpel.xml
generated by JDEV) then what is the policy it is
applied.
Once the system detects an invoke has faulted, it tries
to check if there is a fault policy attached to this faulted
partner link (or port type, or the process), if no policy
binding is detected, it will flow bubble up the fault. By
default there is no policy applied.
3) Can you please let me know
- how many ( fault-binding.xml &) fault-policy's can
n i have per domain.
- how many ( fault-binding.xml &) fault-policy's can
n i have per process.
many to one or many to many relationship.
We can have only one policy
[config/DefaultPolicy.xml] at a Domain Level
To create a Fault Policy File for Automated Fault Recovery
Create directories named fault-policies under the config directory for
every domain in which you want to use the fault management framework.
SOA_ORACLE_HOME\bpel\domains\domain_name\config\fault-policies
You can have n fault policies per domain.
To provide a fault policy applicable to an entire domain in the
fault-bindings.xml file in the SOA_ORACLE_
HOME\bpel\domains\domain_name\config directory.
You can have 1 fault-bindings.xml per domain.
3a) how can i make sure/ensure that Fault Management
Framework is applied at each process level and/or at
Domain level.Provide a fault-binding: with
<process faultPolicy="YourPolicy"/>
>
4) Is there any Advantages, limitations / contrains
that we have if we are opting Fault Management
Framework (have to consider, before going to
production).
The framework is applicable for faults in "invoke" activity
only.
5) can i have any samples / URL for samples for Fault
Management Framework in OTN or else where.
so that i can work around.

Other than 10133technotes.pdf do you have any other
documentation which has an eloberative description
about
Fault Management Framework and its samples
please guide me accordingly.Let me know if you need more information. -
CMS (Content Management System)
Hi,
Firstly and quickly some background. I have a web design and development company and am currently bringing my company into the 21st century by revamping my site and my method of developing sites from a fixed width layout to a responsive layout using sass + compass and Zurb’s foundation framework.
I would like to add a built in content management system into my site that will allow my clients to log into an account set up for them via my website which will allow them to edit certain elements of their site such as text and images as well as adding in additional content / pages. Something that would allow me to wrap a class round elements of sites to show which sections I want to be editable by my clients would be ideal.
Ideally I would like to find a method / tutorial to build my own robust reliable easy to use CMS so I don’t have to pay a third party.
I don’t mind using third party software but it has to be able to be integrated into my site so my clients can edit content on their site through mine. Also I don’t want the CMS part of my site to have another company’s logo etc.
Hope this all makes sense, any help that can be given is much appreciated.
Kind regards
Elliot.All the websites I build are based on a custom CMS that I've been refining over five years.
If, as you say, you want to build your own CMS, here are some points:
1. You must be able to write PHP and SQL code effortlessly. Also know some javascript.
2. Allowing clients to upload and edit material on the site raises many security issues, which must be addressed. You must build the CMS so that if a hacker breaks into it, the damage would be minimal. Also, clients may "unwitingly install material you don't want to allow, like javascript.
3. If clients have the ability to create new pages, then they must also be given the ability to manage their menu system. Assuming that the menus are multi-level, this is more complex to program than just giving clients text boxes to add content to.
There is a book on creating a CMS called "Buid your own database driven website using php & mysql," but it's outdated and has many shortcomings.
PHP Solutions by Powers will teach you many of the things you need to build a CMS, although it's up to you to put it all together.
Unless you need to build a CMS that has complex features that no off-the-shelf CMS can accommodate, then I suggest you not try. Instead of learning to build your own CMS, apply your time to learning Drupal, Joomla, or even WordPress. Then modify your existing websites to work with the CMS. -
Integration of ADF with Vignette(Content Management Tool)
Hi
Is it possible to integrate ADF with vignette(Content Management Tool) in any way so that i could have the power of both the tools in developing web pages and managing the contents of it in a better way?ADF is an standards-based J2EE development framework, if Vignette support integration with J2EE applications then the answer would be yes, but you need to ask Vignette support.
BTW - this forum is for Oracle Portal questions, please use the ADF forum for questions on ADF.
Thanks,
Mick. -
Content managing iWeb sites... a simple solution i have found!
Hi guys,
if this has already been posted here then throw me to the lions but i have recently been getting increasingly frustrated by not ebing able to adjust my iweb site online - i know there has been a lot of talk on here about this scenario so i have been doing some digging!
I can now content manage my iWeb sites! - i can only manage what content is already there and add to it within the framework that i have created - as in it wont create new pages for example, but i can even change the images.
A little internet site called CushyCMS helped me do this!
www.cushycms.com
Basically its free for use! but you have to go in and edit the html of the published to a folder site - it is a little triky but once the tags are in there and its uploaded its really simple and Cushy works out from the tags wherether it is text or images, it even can do the java script.
Sometimes the formatting doesnt work quite as planned so i tend to only use it for minor text and image changes.
I fully content manage my iweb sites now like this one: www.see-nc.co.uk
i just thought i would pass this on!Hi jenster 81,
Thank you for posting, it might help some people. But I want to point out that what you have (nice looking site by the way) is not what most people want to edit from other locations. Most people want to be able to edit or add to their blog. And that cannot be done with cushy if comments from iweb are on. It could possibly be done if using icomment. I have not tried it so I don't know, but I thought I would post the warning in case someone tries it and looses all their comments.

Web content management tools for enterpise portal
I'm currently trying to research web content management tools for enterprise portal.
My general requirements are:
- Tool should sit on top of the portal/km and not require another landscape infrastructure, in other words we don't need another document management repository, but rather a way an easier interface to KM.
- Should be geared towards end-user management of actual content. In other words IT provides the site framework and the business user handles the rest, with approvals with business unit
- Compatible with EP 7.0
My research so far has turned up two possible solutions:
- Webpage composer delivered by SAP
- EasyWCM by btexx
Are there any other solutions that people are using which might meet these needs or alternative web content management tools that could live with the portal on the same physical hardware environment? I have searched this forum and ecohub and have not found much besides this thread which is now almost 4 years old:
https://forums.sdn.sap.com/click.jspa?searchID=24164203&messageID=448870
Thank you,
StephenHi Stephen
I'm not aware of too many other options than the ones already mentioned here. Also Iu2019m probably not the right person to ask as I have been part of the development team for the KMD product. So Iu2019m a bit biased on that part.
You could try to have a look at this presentation where other WCM solutions are mentioned (page 5):
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/d07b5354-c058-2a10-a98d-a23f775808a6
However if you are looking for a WCM solution with no extra landscape infrastructure and low initial setup effort you are (in my opinion) down to 3 options (Web Page Composer, Btexxu2019s or KMDu2019s product). I think all of them can be used for external content. Try to have a look at this web site u2013 made entirely with the web page composer:
http://www.kmd.dk
It was no easy task but it can be done.

Something else ... has anyone here had to program
some type of content management for a web application
you had to program?
Regards,
Sim085
a bit, yeh. I worked on a content management system for a few weeks, that was a web app, and ajax, too, so it was fully buzzword-compliant :-)
but I didn't do an enormous amount of work on it, and left the company very quickly -
New e-learning development and content management
My compay currently uses Serena Collage for Content
Management along with Macromedia Studio MX 2004 for web site
development. We have an upcoming e-learning project that we are
considering developing in Captivate and Flash. We are mandated that
all development be Section 508 compliant and e-learning must be
SCORM compliant as well.
Can I continue to use Collage to manage content developed
from Captivate and Flash? Is Captivate SCORM and 508 compliant and
is Flash 508 compliant?
Please advise.I am not familiar with Collage or its requirements, but Flash
MX 2004 is 508 compliant, I have had to make partial and full
compliant courses with it. That being said, it took us a decent
amount of time and effort. -

Report : How to show all the reports in Content Management
Hi,
Can anyone tell me how I can show the "Resource Locks" Report in Portal.
I can see 4 reports through Content Management -> Reports i.e. Approval Maintenance, Link Consistency, Resource Statistics, Time-based publishing.
If I want to add more reports over here than "How I can achieve it".
Also I have seen the settings System Administration -> System Configuration -> KM -> CM -> Repository Managers -> Reporting Repository
But here I find no combo box for Active Reports, so from where I can activate the reports and show them in Content Management -> Reports
Please help me.
Regards
DeepDeep,
Are you talkign about the report which give you details of which Portal Objects are currently locked?
If yes, then you can go to System Adminitrator > Monitoring > Object Locking
Hope this helps,
*Points will be appreciated.
