Content Type policy template - labels

Hello,
I have create "Content Type policy template" .
 I enable "Labels" policy.
When I press "Ok" , show the following error :
"The label reference, ProjectName, could not be found"
   So What is wrong ?
    Thanks
ASk

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to set the Information Management Policy labels.
The “ProjectName” and “ProjectManager” are two fields of which are used as an example, if there are no such fields in your site, the error will occur.
You can take other existing fields for a try.

  • Content Type Word Templates

    Dear all,
I have a word template with a header containing the total numbers of pages. It happens that on the first page, the total number of pages would not update. It seams this is a known bug. I found a solution for this which was to use a macro that would force
    the update.
It worked fine in my server. The problem was when I deployed to another server (another farm), the header in the first page would again not update.
I have one of two questions: How do you solve the fact that the total number of pages is not updating in the first page without macros, and/or in case of using a macro, how will you make them work as a template in a content type.
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    GS
    Gonçalo

In principle, writing macro's is not related to sharepoint, although I have seen situations where macro's weren't able to cope with web scenarios, causing problems once published in sharepoint. I would advise you to ask this question in a Word macro forum
AND post of the code you're using, it will give you a better chance at finding the solution.

  • Multiple Content types only first 11 visible

We have set up Multiple content types (word templates) for our libraries.
But only the first eleven content types are shown when we click on new document.
I have searched the internet but cannot find a solution for this.
Is there a possibility to show all the content types ?
possible solution that I was thinking off but I can not seem to configure:
    - changing the max number of content types that sharepoint displays from 11 to an higher value
    - grouping some content types together and split them up this way
    - creating an extra "new document" link with a dropdown with other content types
    - enabling a scrollbar
The only possibility I see for the moment is to create multiple libraries each of them with a subset of the content types
but that is not really user friendly then they have to search in multiple libraries instead of 1

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that it displayed only the first eleven content types after you set up multiple content type in your libraries.
I have created lots of content types and added them to library and it worked fine.
Please check the configuration of the content type order in library settings -> Change new button order and default content type, and provide the screen shot about is.
Please add multiple content types you created to other libraries and other libraries in other site collections and test whether this issue occurs.

  • Update content type template for existing sites in sharepoint 2010 ?

    Hi,
I created one custom document library (list definition) and associated 3 content types which has docment template path (\_layouts.template1.docx). I rollout nearly 200 sites with this definition. now i want to update my document template and also i want
to change template docx to dotx.
what is the best approach to apply these changes for existing sites ?
    Thanks,
    Surya.
    suryakumarp

    Hi suryakumar,
As I understand, you want to update the template
    for existed content type.
It can be achieved by programming. There is a
SPContentType.DocumentTemplateUrl Property, which can be used to update content type.
    Here is a demo:

  • Custom Property in Microsoft Word 2010 Document Template and Sharepoint 2010 Content Type not Syncing up

I wrote a macro in a Word 2010 template with a custom property called HeaderFooter (a Yes/No value). When the property is changed to No, the header and footer are hidden, otherwise, the header and footer are displayed.
I added the template to a SharePoint 2010 Document library, with a content type DocInformation and a column name HeaderFooterOffOn that I want to map to the custom property HeaderFooter in the Word Document.
The macro isn't working in SharePoint, though, because when the user clicks on the HeaderFooterOffOn in the DIP of the Word Document, the Word Custom Property (HeaderFooter) isn't changing with it.
How do I get these two synced up, so that when the SharePoint column is changed, the Word Document's custom property simultaneously updates with it?

    Hi kevinkevinc,
There is no direct way to run macro in SharePoint
As a workaround, I suggest you use SharePoint Event Receiver to run some custom code when column changed.

  • Updating Word templates in Content Types - changes not appearing automatically

    Hello
I have a SharePoint site where I have existing content types all with MS Word templates assigned to them.  I wish to change the Word template so it looks different.
I have saved my Word template as a .dot file and have edited my content type so it points to the updated template in the 'Advanced' area of the content type properties.  When I look at my template via the 'Edit Template' in the 'advanced' area of the
content type it is fine (as it is when I look at the template file via explorer view) but when I create a new document based on the content type it is referring to the old template.  Furthermore, I have renamed some of the content type names but they
    have not updated either.
Any ideas?  Is there a background process that runs to help with this?

Sorry, just re-visited this and i think i might have missed an obvious answer.
SharePoint tries to protect you from yourself.
That measn that it will not, in some cases, push changes down to lists. For example if you were to delete a column at the site level which is also in place on lists SharePoint won't delete it from the lists.
I'll bet that If you look at the content type at the library level it's showing the old details still.

  • New Content Type with RDL template

I'm building a new Project Server 2010 site template and one of the libraries that I want to provide will store the Status Reports for each Project.
I'm struggling with what seems like a simple concept.
Create a new Content Type that uses the status_report.RDL as it's template so that users can click on the 'New Document' button drop down in the ribbon and select 'Status Report' from a list of possible document templates and then the status report opens, they
add the required parameters, run the report and then 'Export' it as an Excel Sheet which they can store in the library as a point in time report of the projects status.
Am I asking too much or do I just need to decypher the way that SharePoint builds the URL for the report from the actual .RDL file that's stored in a library in order to enter it as the location of the content type template?
    Thanks in advance.
    N03L.

I should add that I'm planning on having this content type stored in a Content Type Hub and published for use in another Site Collection.

  • Having templates appear when users click the "New Document" button in a document library with custom content types

    Hi all,
I'm using SharePoint Online, but I'm seeing the same behavior in an on-prem 2013 instance as well. My situation is this:
    - I've created a document library
    - I've created a custom content type and attached a custom document template to it
    - I've assigned the custom content type to the document library, and disabled the default "document" option
What I'm expecting to see is that when I browse to the document library and click "new document", that either a) a picklist appears allowing me to specify the document template I want (using the custom template I specified) or b) open the custom
template itself. That doesn't happen - instead, when I click new document I'm prompted to upload a file, which seems to contradict the whole point of using a custom content type/custom document template combo.
Am I missing something? The custom template isn't in the Forms library, which seems to be a problem if I wanted to use the custom document template instead of the default.
Ideally I'd like a menu like the one shown here:
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/59ce3bd8-bf7f-4872-ae76-60d8c81dfc32/display-content-types-on-new-document-button-in-document-libraries?forum=sharepointgeneral, except with me being able to control the list of items that is shown.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

    Hi Brain,
What you have done is by design behavior.
If you want to show the Office document templates list (e.g. below image from your above referenced link) to select when click "+new document" link, this will need to install Office Web App 2013 which provides this feature,
you can new document and see it is using WopiFrame.aspx page, please see more from below article about how to configure OWA 2013 for SharePoint 2013 on-premise.

  • Supported UCM content types by custom content presenter display template

    Hi,
custom content presenter display template can only be applied to a Site Studio file? Or the UCM content item type to which the template can be applied can be of different types (says for example an UCM folios or a custom XML file)?
I would like to use the Content presenter in order to customize the presentation of a custom XML file stored on UCM...but as far as I understood I can't do it...I'm correct?
    I hope I was clear.
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    S.

In my scenario, I've a strong requirements in the user interface usability the customer should have in order to perform data entry (it generates the data that made up the XML I'll check-in in UCM): the UI should be more friendly than SS Contributor provides (for example I'll plan to implement it as an ADF page). I've also specifications on the presentation layout.
If I correctly understood, you're suggesting to store in UCM not my custom XML file, but instead a Site Studio data file containing the "same" XML content?
If yes, can I perform the SS data file check-in not using SS Contributor but instead a custom ADF based page? If yes, how can address this?
    Thanks a lot.
    Best regards,
    S.

  • Integrating OneNote with Sharepoint 2013 - Custom document template, Change Content type, Checkout settings

My client is migrating to SharePoint 2013 and the team uses OneNote Task list to track the project checklist. While I am successful extending the document template to support OneNote, still have some mysteries to solve as listed below:
I am exploring Sharepoint 2013 and have tried to explain my problem clearly. If the information provided below is not clear enoug, let me know.
    1. Client has defined custom content type for all the documents in a library. I noticed OneNote comes with a Content type as "Folder". Is it possible to edit / modify the OneNote metadata to accommodate the predefined content types?
    2. In a library, I would like to defined multiple OneNote templates - Meeting, Task List, etc. I followed this article to create OneNote template for a library. Is is possible to edit the template and have "Meeting template" as default?
    3. A library can have multiple document types - word, excel, presentation, OneNote. In order for OneNote sync to work, below settings are mandatory (correct me if wrong):
            a. Checkout required should be set to "No"
            b. No versioning should be set
My client's governance rule states "Checkout" is mandatory. How can I have a library to support OneNote with Checkout option enabled.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi TMUser,
    regarding your questions:
    1. One note is based on folder not content type, so by design it is different items. but i heard you can have a look up for this, you may try to change my onenote notebook folder content type so that it allows for additional metadata columns. this way, the
onenone notebook can be handled just like other office documents. for more detail you may try from this example: http://www.sharepointcowbell.com/2013/01/onenote-and-metadata-in-sharepointpart.html
    2. for onenote products, you may ask at onenote forum for more detail, http://support.microsoft.com/ask-community/office/onenote-2013/,
we can help for general discussion regarding this. you may take a look at this article, it mentioned about set template as default: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/onenotetips/archive/2008/05/21/templates-in-onenote.aspx
    3. for this question, you may check this kb, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2675731/en-us, i
think it is by design, because onenote and other office are different, onenote is use shared, if we put checked out, then it will be set the limitation to only exclusive user.

  • How to add the library document version to the parent Document content type?

    Hi All,
I have a PWA instance with a project site for each project.
Each project site has its own document library.
Now I want to create several Templates to be available within each document library.
I have created the new content Site Content Types (Site Settings > Site Content Types) to fit my needs; each content type has the "document" content type as parent type.
Now I want include the "version" property (the dynamic value from the versioning) to each new document type, so I have tried to enable the "Information management policy settings" to the parent "document" type or the new ones,
including the label "{Version}", but I receive this error:The label reference, Version, could not be found.
So the only way to do this, is to open each site document library and make this change within it.
Why I can't enable the Lable at the Site level?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I can reproduce the issue by adding {version} or {_UIVersionString} in site content types > Document > Information Management policy settings > enable label.
As workaround, please create a document library, then add label in document library settings > Information Management Policy settings. Now save this document library as template and create new document library based on this template, the policy settings
will be saved for new document libraries.

  • Editing Content types at the list level

Hello, I have a range of Content Types that are administered centrally from a Content Type hub, all of the content types have workflows and retention policies set at the content type hub level.
I have had a request from a user who wishes to add a template to one of these content types that will be specific to only their document library on their team site.
The question I'm asking is, if I add a template in the settings of the content type at a list level only, i.e. edit list content type to add a template to it - will it then have any effect on the workflows and retention policy that are set on the content
type and administered centrally from the content type hub?
    Regards
    kegan1

    Hi,
As per the Microsoft article "Any changes that you make to a content type for a list or library apply only the instance of that content type that has been added to the list or library. The parent site content type from which the content type was created
is not updated with the changes."
So, any changes you made at list level will not be updated at the content type hub level.
Change a content type for a list or library
