Context search in compressed files

Is there any way of searching for content in compressed files?
For example: if I have five text files in a zip file (and this zip is in iFS), iFS is able to make a context search inside those text files? In our application, the context search works great, but we faced this problem with the zip's.
Thanks in advance,
Fabio.

Hi ,
We too have the same problem apart from peformance problem.Looks like iFS API's need lot of improvements.

I have a content source in SharePoint 2013 search which crawl files from a file share. Some of the files have "Compress contents to save disk" attribute set to true.
These files are being crawled as I can see them in Crawl logs. But when I search for these documents in search center, it only return the documents which don't have compression attribute set.  I have even tried searching document title. Any idea?

    Hi Rashid,
What keyword did you use for searching the compressed file?
As your description, I set a file as the below:
Then I created a File Share content source pointed to the folder which contains the file, then start a full crawl.
After crawling, I went to my search center, and searched, the result was:
When you search the compressed file, check whether the item title returns a part of the content of the document.

  • How to search for file within compressed file

I hope i can explain this correctly, I apologize in advance.
What is the command to search for a file that may/may not exist within another compressed file?
Situation is that I have a cron job that compresses the files in a folder on a scheduled date. I now need to search for a file that may exists in one of the several compressed files, which was a result of the cron job.
    Thanks in advance

There's an open source utility called zgrep. You can probably get it from http://www.sunfreeware.com/ .

  • How Can I Search for Media files by Length?

I want know how can I search for media files (mov, mp4, flv and movie files in general) by their length?
If this search function is confirmed as definitely not possible on the OS, I would appreciate someone recommending app that might be able to perform such a search?
    Many thanks

No possible way. Because the files may be enoded with differing codecs, compression, etc., you can only sort by file size, not the 'length' of the movie files.

  • Problem with context search in iFS

Hello , here is my problem with iFS.
We have installation of Oracle 8.1.7 Enterprise edition with interMedia and iFS 1.1 on same server (Windows NT Server 4.0/512 RAM). During install everything went fine.
I had uploaded about 200 MB files in the iFS (pdf's and html's).
The problem is when I try to use context based search. If I search for file's name everything is fine, but when I search for a word that is in a file it almost immediately gives mi "0 file(s) found", and I'm sure that there are files that have that word in their body's.
    What can be the problem?
Any sugestions will be in help.
    Thanks in advance.

That's the way it works. Content Indexing is not on insert, it occurs when the ctxsrv process runs. See the IntermediaText doc for more information.

Documents's content is stored in the GLOBALINDEXEDBLOB column of the IFSSYS.ODMM_CONTENTSTORE table.
There is an text index GLOBALINDEXEDBLOB_I built on this column.
To make the context search possible just update this index using the following command in SQL*Plus:
    SQL> exec ctx_ddl.sync_index('GLOBALINDEXEDBLOB_I');
If you want this index be updated automatically when new documents are uploaded/changed/deleted in iFS then start the ctxsrv utility on the computer where your Oracle database resides. To do this issue the following command in OS command line:
    ctxsrv -user ctxsys/ctxpwd@db_alias
just replace here ctxpwd and db_alias with real values you specified during the installation.

Is it possible to use Oracle DB to search in external files (Excel and Word)?
If yes, does it work in version 7 and 8 also?
Per Magne Yes it is possible. The name for this feature is different in each version and I recommend to use 8.1.7 or 9i and you can use a FILE_DATASTORE.
Oracle is using a third party apllication (INSO-Filter) to covert excel,word,... to html and index these.

  • Pull compressed file (.gz format) via FTP and place on Application server

    Hello!
    Greetings.
We have a requirement where a compressed file in the format *.gz is to be pulled via FTP and saved to the application server after extracting.
I searched the forums and found options to pull text or XL files, but nothing about pulling a compressed file. I wished to know if there is any process for the same. After pulling the file, it is to be saved to Application server after extracting. My doubts are as below:
    1. How to pull a *.gz file via FTP (Need batch processing)
    2. Can I extract and rename th file before saving it to applciation server? Or I need a temporary location to place the file before extraction?
    Any inputs are appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Shishir.

    Hi Sandra.
    Thanks for the confirmation.
There is a change is the requirement. We need to Poll the FTP server for the file for the duration of one week every month.
When the file is found, we are to take the *.gz file, extract and put on the application server.
My question is how do we poll the application FTP server? I searched  the forums and found a few threads that say that an FTP adapter is to be setup for polling the FTP server and then we can schedule it using u201CAvailability Time Planningu201D.
    /people/shabarish.vijayakumar/blog/2006/11/26/adapter-scheduling--hail-sp-19-
I wished to know if that is the only way to approach this requirement.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Shishir.

  • "The operation can't be completed because the disk is full" when trying to compress files

Trying to compress my files because my computer keeps saying that my startup disk is almost full. However, when I try to compress my files, I get an error that reads "The operation can't be completed because the disk is full." Does anyone know why this is happening? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks

Yes. You are trying to create more files taking up more space on the computer. Compressing files only reduces disk space used after you remove the uncompressed file.
Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
      1. See Lion/Mountain Lion's Storage Display.
      2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
      3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
      4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
      5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
      6. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.

  • Can B2B accpt a compressed file [ tar,zip]  over  AS2

we have a situation where one of our Partner would like to send us a tar file with xml files in it.,
usually the b2b server will accept xml file based on the matching function we configure with.
can some body chime in of b2b is capable of accepting the tar [compressed] paylods.

    Nitesh,
thank you for providing the docs.
so far we were accepting the incoming payloads by searching a pattern in the xml file [ so far all our integrations with TP are via XML file]
but with this compressed file, how will be able to identify the TP, is there an option while configuring the BA for incoming traffic to identify the TP with file name ?
and also to my understanding if i use callout the flow will be as follows:
Incomming tar file form TP-->B2B Identify the File-->CALL OUT to uncompress the file --> put the resulting files in AQ
    here is my usecase:
we will recieve tar file[ this will have multiple xml files] from TP, we have to uncompress the file from that TP and pass it on to built in AQ to BPEL to pick them up.
can you please suggest how shld i identify the TP.,

On a MB Pro with Leopard 10.5.8 I cannot compress files:
either the command "compress" (or similiar, I don't use a english OS) in the menu is grey or the command does not show up in the context menu. On another MB Pro also with 10.5.8 this works as expected.

In the folder /System/Library/CoreServices do you have a program called "Archive Utility" (or "Archive Utility.app")? That's the program that should handle a "compress" operation.
I looked in three "Contextual Menu Items" folders on my computer and didn't find anything for archive operations, so that particular menu item may be built into the OS.

  • Context search in iFS/Linu

    Hello,
my question is about the INSO_FILTER that is used when binary files are indexed(pdf, doc,..). In the IFS context search is about that, and there is IFS for Linux, that means that there is some kind of filter for Linux. Can that filter be used to index documents with Oracle text under Linux?
    Thanks

  • How to compress file

code of compress file in Java

Very well put, clear, and oh so precise. Well if you looked in the API or even read a BOOK you may have found JAR files and the API for zip type files, and if you had done a search on the forum you may have even found code examples. But thank God you posted your clear request so we could do it for you ....

  • I have 3 older ext. hard drives that I've utilized many times. Today while searching for old files, one of the three is no longer recognized by my PowerMac.  Any suggestions?

I have 3 older ext. hard drives that I've utilized many times. Today while searching for old files, one of the three is no longer recognized by my PowerMac. The drive is not listed in Disk Utility.  Any suggestions?

Is the computer in you equipment line:
    Dual Core Intel Xenon
(which is not a PowerMac but a Mac Pro) the one you are asking about, or do you have an older PowerMac?
If a Mac Pro, their forums are here:
    Mac Pro
and, as Mac Pros have a totally different architecture from the pre-2005 Macs this forum covers, you may not have the same issues that can affect the older models. If someone didn't notice your equipment line, you could get advice that doesn't apply.
If you really have a pre-2005 PowerMac, read on.
If the stubborn external is USB and does not have its own power brick (i.e., it gets power only from the computer's UBS ports--"bus powered"), it may not be getting enough power. As electric motors age, they can demand more power than when new, and the power available on any USB port is limited.
The typical workabouts to making a computer recognize an aging, bus-powered USB drive are:
Get a powered USB hub (has its own power brick
Get a "Y" USB cable: 1 Meter USB 2.0 A to 5 Pin Mini B Cable - Auxiliary USB "Y" Power Design for external hard drives.
The second gets power from two USB ports on the computer and often that's enough.
Remember that the USB ports on your keyboard seldom provide enough power even for a thumb drive, so be sure to use the USB ports on the back of the computer.

  • Problem in Compresses file. Not able to see the data in file

    Hi All,
I am downloading file into application server.
    Using:
OPEN DATASET file FOR OUTPUT FILTER 'compress'.
    OR
    DATA: l_command(100) type c.
CONCATENATE 'compress ' p_file INTO lw_command SEPARATED BY space.
        ENDIF.
CALL 'SYSTEM' ID 'COMMAND' FIELD lw_command.
When I see the file content it contains junk characters.
If I want to see the data Do I need to uncompress the file.
con't we see the data without uncompressing the file?.
    Regards,
    vinod

    Hi,
Uncompress is required to read the content of an Compressed file.
OPEN DATASET DSN FOR OUTPUT FILTER 'compress'.
OPEN DATASET DSN FOR INPUT FILTER 'uncompress'.
The first OPEN statement opens the file so that the displayed data can be read into it in compressed form.
The second OPEN statement opens the file so that the data is decompressed when it is read from the file.
