Controling window widgets in a JFrame

can someone please give me a code snipplet, or point me in the right direction of the API, which will allow me to dis-able the maximize button of a JFrame (or better yet remove it from the window controls(widgets))....it would be extremley appreciated..

setResizable(false) is the best solution if you want to disable the maximize button.
disabling the maximize button means your JFrame cannot be resized, its size will be fixed, as hard-coded by you.
if you want to remove all the three control(minimize,maximize,close), have a look at JWindow instead.

Yes, it certainly will as that's the way it works.
If the entire iTunes library (meaning the ENTIRE iTunes folder, not just the media folder) has been copied from the old computer or the backup of the old computer, then no iTunes data will be lost.
It would also be necessary to copy any pictures, contact information (if it's synced with the computer), and other files that may be synced from the old computer to the new computer.
It will give the message that all media on the device will be wiped and replaced with media from the new computer, this is exactly what it is supposed to do, let it.

NO java control panel in windows system control window

Hello together,
there seems to be a bug/feature (?) not allowing me to use the plugin functionality of my J2EEsdk-1_4
Situation:
Before i installed the J2EE i had an already installed java plug-in 1_4_2 working fine on
my Laptop giving my ms explorer 6.0 the Java VM needed. To avoid conflicts, i deinstalled
this plug-in, before i installed the J2EE 1_4_2. The result was disapointing.
There was NO java control panel in the windows2000 system control window after installing J2EE.
There was no corresponding registration key in the registry anymore.
Additionally there was no java related entrance to be seen anymore in the advanced internet and
security options of my ms explorer 6.0.
i have have found several trouble reports mentioned similar problems during the last months but unluckily
no solution working for me.
i did several tests with different java packages i downloaded today to get the actual versions
First:
i deinstalled the J2EE (not to get version conflicts) and installed the Java Plug-in 1.4.2 again.
This was proposed from ms explorer, when i tried to open an internet page with javaplugins included.
This plugin worked fine again. I could see and use the java panel and it enabled
my explorer to use the java plugin.
Second:
i deinstalled the Java Plugin and installed the J2sdk_1_4_2 instead.
The java plugin which is part of this package also worked fine.
Third:
i deinstalled the J2sdk_1_4_2 and installed the J2EEsdk-1_4-windows.exe.
the same misbehaviour as mentioned before. No java panel icon can be seen
in the windows system control, now registration......
as a workaround i have installed now both, the J2eesdk (i want to learn about)
and some additonal 100 MB java plug-in to enable my MS explorer to display
java applets again.
This is working fine again, but i really would prefer to have no need for two JREs.
By the way:
When i first opened the java control panel of the Plug-in and deactivated the update
mechanism , this plugin got really angry immedialtely afterwards. As a result my
laptop rebooted without coming up again. i had to initiate another hard reboot to get
windows back
i really would like to know , whats wrong me or the J2ee and i apriciate
any hint.

One thing you could do if you by all means want to have only one single copy of 1.4.2 on your system is to install standalone J2SE 1.4.2 (this will accomodate your Java console and browser plugin requirements) and then install Application Server only distribution (on the download page this is referred to as "Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8") and sample applications set ("J2EE 1.4 SDK Samples "). In this way you get full content you would get in J2EE 1.4 SDK and all the benefits of standalone J2SE 1.4.2 installation.
This is obviously more convoluted at installation time since there are 3 separate things to install, but it would seem to fit your requirements.

Firefox Selenium Remote Control window does not close.

Using Selenium 2.17 and/or Selenium 2.26 on Windows 7 we are having a problem with the Firefox Selenium RC (Remote Control) window not closing after the Selenium tests have completed.
We did not have any issues when using Firefox 10.0.1esr, but when we upgraded to 10.0.10esr the problem showed up.
Any ideas how to solve this problem? Our company requires us to be at the latest ESR release so going back to 10.0.1esr is not an option.
Any plans to resolve this problem in another ESR release?

Why is iTunes window open in every mission control window

I have a 27" iMac with the latest Mac OS and the latest version of iTunes. I have my iTunes library installed on an external Hard Drive. When I open iTunes, every mission control window has an open iTunes window? 10 screens 10 open iTunes windows? This is very annoying! How can I fix this so only one iTunes window is open on one mission control screen?

Thanks for the question. Take a look at the resource for Mission Control below. It sounds like in your Mission Control preferences, you have the options set to All Desktops, which means the application (iTunes) will appear in every space.

Assign apps to spaces
If you assign an app to a particular space, it opens in that space by default.

The app appears only in that space. However, if you open the app in full screen, it appears in its own space.
Have the app open in the current space on a specific display: Choose Options > Desktop on Display [number].
Have the app open in every space: Choose Options > All Desktops.
The app appears in every space.
Have the app open in whichever space you’re using at the time: Choose Options > None.
In Mission Control preferences, you can also specify that, when you switch to an app, your desktop should switch to a space with open windows for that app. To open Mission Control preferences, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Mission Control.

Your warranty is actually one year - the 90-days is only for free telephone support - but the warranty would not cover damage due to the iPad being dropped. I doubt there's anything you can do to fix the rocker, so you'll probably need to pay to get the iPad exchanged (by Apple) or repaired (by a third party repair service).

You can't change depreciation and prorate calendar on the book level, this way isn't supported and I think a hard coded update dosn't works.
If you will change these, you must implemented a new asset book and migrate the existing data into this book

Have keyframes in effect controls window coincide with main time line

Hello,
Is there any way I can have the time line in my effects control window coincide with my main time line ?
Example, I add keyframes along my main time line, but any time I wish to edit them, I need to scrub my effect controls window timeline to get to that
spot that coincides on the main time line. I'm just wondering how I can have both time lines show the same area at the same time.
So if I'm at the end of my time line, and add a keyframe, and then wish to just scrub or move my cursor to the beginning of my main time line, the
time line in the upper window ( effects control window ) does not reflect the area of the main time line I am currently at, I need to actually click the time time
line ( main time line ) in order to "refresh" the upper effect control window time line.

DVD player has two control windows, can't press any buttons.

The internal disk drive on my Late 2009 Mac mini has been non-functional for longer than I've had it. However, I've never really needed it until recently. But when I tried using my new external drive (which runs perfectly and is most certainly not the source of the problem) I encounter one of the strangest glitches I've ever had using Macs!
The DVD player uses the old (brushed metal, 10.6-style) control panel in the bottom-right corner... Until I turn on full-screen. Then the GUI changes to a glazed black appearance (10.7-style) and all of the controls are unresponsive. The features can be triggered by the hotkeys (space bar to play/pause, etc.) but none of the actual buttons can be clicked on. The interface still fades in and out with mouse movement though.
But it starts getting really strange when I exit fullscreen again. Now the brushed metal interface has odd white corners as if the alpha channel is being ignored! https://dl.dropbox.com/u/14403620/brokeninterface.tiff And what's more, though I was unable to reproduce this after a few attempts, once it actually brought the normal control window into fullscreen! There were then two contol interfaces, neither of them could be pressed (though the normal one works outside of fullscreen) and the normal one could still be dragged around the screen yet wouldn't fade away when idle!
Now please note that I am running OS-X 10.7.5 upgraded from 10.6 in the past and the DVD player may not have been original to this computer. I am also using SIMBL and Maximizer and have both Quicktime 7 and Quicktime X installed.
There are thus many things which could be causing the issue, but I have no idea what actually is.
Any insight would be appreciated. I can provide more information if nessesary.

I'm just going to repeat the relevant sections from my previous post with the screenshots this time:
Below you'll see a snip of how my current folder structure appears. It's identical to yours, except there are no button files in the General Folder. Since you were kind enough to include a file name, I did a search on that specific one and it's nowhere to be found on my hard drive. Hmmm....
I've seen others remark on how... "challenging".... Adobe's instructions can be sometime. I'll admit to having the same feeling when I was trying to download and install all the content files and the 7-zip stuff. Is the answer somehow that I screwed up that? Note the 7-zip folder right above the Adobe folder. Here's a screen shot of that expanded folder contents:
Does that look like you think it should? Have I not installed or extracted something correctly?
Finally, the only other thing I can think of to give you as much info as you might need is to include a screenshot of where the "Functional Content" stuff got saved. Adobe's instructions about this (if I recall correctly) were that it did NOT have to be installed anywhere specific, but you then had to go into Encore (& Premiere) and through preferences point to this stuff, which I believe I did. But I don't see any button type files in these anyway.

Cannot find "Midi Destination" drop menu in External Instrument control window...

I'm using Logic X Pro, and am attempting to use Sylenth as a VST. In order to do so, I watched this video tutorial...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4I-mNj-TLGM at minute mark 5:39, the External Instrument control window is displayed, and a drop down menu item titled "Midi Destination" is shown. I am not seeing that on my Logic.
Can anyone please speak to this? Can you see this option in your window?

You'll have to extend BasicRootPaneUI and use your custom root pane UI on your frame, so it always draws the title in the center.

How can app show up in all mission control windows

Is there a way to have apps show up on all mission control windows and not just the window it was launched in? And how do you assign a window to a specific screen?

Right click the icon in the the dock, in the menu that pops up go to options and you can assign windows to all spaces or just the current one.

i am not able to control Windows VNC Server (Ultra VNC 1.02/1.03) with ARD 3 in the local net. We use on several PC servers and PC clients UltraVNC over years.
Any idea? Apple Support can't help yet.

If you can identify a Windows command that does what you want, then you can execute it using Java's ProcessBuilder class nethods. If not, you can use Java Native Interface (JNI) or one of its variations to create an interface from Java to C/C++ code in Windows.
