Conversion lock in infoobject - status 6

Hi,
    The below is our scenario.
1.We have an info object A with B as an atribute. we did the developmeents with the info object A in development system and transported to all other system.
2. Now as the business does not want B to be an attribute of A,they asked us to remove B from A.
3. We also removed B from A and tried to activate, it gives an conversion error.
4. We also tried the below soln but no success. SE14 -> Give table name -> Activate and adjust database tabel by deleting data.
5. We even manually removed the conversion lock form the infooject (Extras -> Remove conversion lock )but no success.
6. we also did a where used list of infoobject A, there was only one info object C where A is an attribute. We tried deleting that C Data also but no success.
Can anyone give a solution for the above problem.
Thanks in Advance,
Praveen

Praveen,
I cannot confirm the given information.
I don't have any personal test system to answer you.
The best think to do, if you have any development or test system, try it.
Or ask your administrators for a back-up system if the infoobject is affected.
Or create a "Z" infoobject and see the results.
If i find a better solution, i will tell you.
Regards.

  • Urgent :conversion lock problem

    Hi All,
    I tried to change the existing info object.while activating it again .It is showing a conversion lock infront of teh tecnical name of teh info object with status one.
    Kindly tell me the way to release that lock.
    regards,
    Sonika

    it may be normal to wait a bit if your object has many records...
    When deleting an attribute, the system needs to adjust the underlying tables.
    In reality the DB move the original table to a temp table, delete the fileds on the original table and move the data from the temp table back to the original...
    The more data your have, the more it will take time.
    You can check your system processes in SM66 in order to verify that.
    If nothing is running then try the following:
    in RSD1 tab master data / texts
    double click in the master data tab (/BIC/P% or /BI0/P% table)
    Menu Utilities / database utilities
    Check the status of the table: is it active or not?
    -If not then click on Activate and adjust database (with SAVE DATA!!!!)
    -if yes then go back and perform the same with the SID table attr (/BIC/X% or /BI0/X% table)
    Let me know how it goes

  • Error in global conversion rule for InfoObject 0PERSLANGU when activating

    Dear Experts
    We are working on HR in BI7.0 with Ehp1.
    I am trying to Activate the Transfer Rules of 0HR_PA_PA_1 DataSource which has the BID (BW Development) as the Source System to itself in order to load 0PAPA_C02 (Headcount) InfoCube.
    When trying to Activate, it gives the following error message:

    In fact, we are Re-implementing 3.0b BW System in new BI7.0 Ehp1 System. I have checked the Config of InfoObject 0PERSLANGU to the one available in existing BWP (3.0b Production) system and it's all the same.
    Has anyone come across similar error message and how did you resolve. Any help is very much appreciated.
    Many Thanks,

    HI Chandu ,
    It is a bug in the system , can you take a look at the SAP note
    Note 1070702 - RSAR 263: Error in global conversion rule for InfoObject
    Hope it helps ,

    If you have any idea or face the similar problem, please suggest solution.
    Thank you.

    Good afternoon,
    If you have not done so already can you apply the SAP note  1387854 in your system and it should prevent the problem from happening again. If you also reactivate the infoobject  0INCOTERMS2 in RSD1 then it should be possible to manually activate the  transfer rule.

    Hi Mohan,
    seems this message is common when activating BI_CONT.
    I believe what i did was:
    - go to the InfoObject
    - verified Object Routine (check) (then was ok).
    - Removed Object form DS
    - Activated DS  (w/o info object was giving problems)
    - Placed InfoObject back to the DS
    - Activated DS but now including Info Object
    Believe that worked for me.
    Let me know how it goes.

  • Add ALPHA-conversion to existing InfoObject

    I want to add ALPHA conversion to an existing InfoObject (BW7.0). However the transaction RSMDEXITON which used to perform the data conversion does not work anymore in BW7.0
    Are there any alternatives?

    hi,
    U can define the Alpha conversion routline in Info Object Maintenance..
    1. Go to the particulrt infoobject.
    2.Double Click to go to Info Object Maintenance.
    3. There u  can find Alpha Conversion Routine..and check that box.
    4. now Save and Activate.

  • Won't let me Change Conversion rouine for Infoobject

    I'm having to go back to our development box and change a infoobject to "ALPHA" .
    After the change the infoobject won't activate becuase it says "Sid Table /BI0/SUCTMP_AREA contains data" How do I accomplish deleting the sid data? If i use se16 its delete is greyed out.
    points for any help
    Thanks

    Hi Richard,
    it is not possible to change the conversion exit to alpha without deleting all data references. That means all transactional data that is using the infoobject as well as the master data itself. The reason for this is, that there will be no conversion of the already existing data in the master data tables (sid-, p-, q-, ... tables). Conversion to alpha means, that all number values have to be converted to the format having leading zeroes. E.g. without alpha your infoobject contains '1'. Now lets say your infoobject is of lenght 10. With alpha your infoobject will contain '0000000001'.
    If it is not possible for you to delete all data, you will have to implement a routine using the fm 'CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_INPUT'. But this means that you will have the same data in your infoobject with 2 different formats and this isn't nice at all.
    Hope this helps!
    regards
    Siggi

  • Characteristic is blocked by conversion (status 4)

    Dear all,
    There is a infoobject had many nav attributes,and much data in master data table.
    And then,i change nav attributes from time-dependent to notime-dependent.
    when i active it, there was error,and is blocked by conversion.
    So, status of the char is inactive, not executable.
    I Delete lock in SM12 ,and it didn't help. Locks appear again.
    error message shows the following:
    Internal Activation (InfoObject )
    Preprocessing / Creation of DDIC Objects for InfoObject ZCO_ELMNT
    Characteristic ZCO_ELMNT : Converting the Master Data Tables
    Table /BIC/PZCO_ELMNT: Error in creating index 0 (2)
    Resetting of Incorrect Objects Back to the Active Version (InfoObject )
    Preprocessing / Creation of DDIC Objects for InfoObject ZCO_ELMNT
    Characteristic ZCO_ELMNT is blocked by conversion
    How to active the IO,or delete the block from IO?
    Best regards,
    Plato

    I was facing this problem in bi 7.0 . the object can be unlocked by using TCODE RSA1OLD.
    Go to RSA1OLD.
    Double click on the object.
    then from menu, choose EXTRAS->REMOVE CONVERSION LOCK.
    This will remove the lock and will allow you to change the object.
    Change, save and activate the object. (You can skip this and can do from RSA1 also, just remove lock in this case)
    Change and save the object from here and come out of your all transactions. (Log Off from system)
    Now, as you have changed the object from RSA1OLD T-Code , it might not be type compatible for RSA1.
    So, go to RSA1, you will find that object unlocked. Change the same object (For sake of formality) and save and activate the object.
    This will create the active version of object in RSA1.
    Your problem is solved now.
    Hope this will work for you.

  • STS: Why data can't be locked when status is sent to approval.

    Hi All,
    I'd like to ask about STS, I have a problem on it. I'm working in IP.
    Why data can't be locked though the status is already in "send to approval" ?
    I've setup data slice under the corresponding cube based on exit class: CL_UPS_LOCK_DATASLICE.
    Is it because I've yet to assign R_STS_PT authorization to the planner ? So when I'm opening the data using planner user id, data is still not locked yet.
    Could you kindly help me to resolve this problem please ?
    Thanks a lot all,
    Have a good day,
    Best regards,
    Daniel N.

    Hi Daniel,
    Thanks for the response, much appreciated, a bit of good fortune that I ran into someone in April 2010 who is having the same problem as me on the obscure STS!
    I have some queries about your response;
    1) You say to create planning a function within a sequence to copy the status., did you mean to copy the version?
    2) So the basic principle is, when a user submits data for approval, they use the STS monitor's 'Approval' button, this then triggers the planning sequence to copy data which they just planned to a certain version, this version is hard coded into the data slice, is this correct?
    3) What happens then when the higher level manager approves the data, is this then unlocked by copying to another version?
    If you could please break it down for me.
    Appreciate your time & help.
    Regards
    SS
    Hi Sulman,
    You can create function and planning sequence to copy the status.
    Then you create dataslice based on particular status to block data from data entry.
    You can embed the planning sequence to STS using t-code: BPS_TC.
    Thanks a lot .
    Best regards,
    Daniel N.

  • Cursors throwing Unexpected lock status: 6

    I am using a Berkeley DB instance and have a multithreaded clients each performing various types of operations on the database. In general there are three types of operations being performed, reads, writes (which use RMW locks), and (non-transactional) cursors. After some time my application dumps the following:
    Unexpected lock status: 6
    PANIC: Invalid argument
    /usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.7/lib/libdb_cxx-4.7.so(__os_stack+0x2b) [0xb7ef085f]

    /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6(clone+0x5e) [0xb7b20a0e]
    Aborted
    In studying the core dumps and doing some testing this behavior only occurs when cursors are used, when those operations are removed the error no longer manifests itself so either the cursor is the issue, or how the cursors are interacting with other operations. Below is a sample of cursor code being run:
    void run_cursor()
    Dbc *curp = NULL;
    int ret;
    try
    int i = 0;
    Dbt key(&i,sizeof(int));
    Dbt data(buffer, 0);
    data.set_flags(DB_DBT_USERMEM);
    data.set_ulen(MAX_BUFFER_SIZE);
    db->cursor(NULL, &curp, 0);
    while ((ret = curp->get(&key, &data, DB_NEXT)) == 0) {
    //keep a list of all the keys in the db
    keys.push_back(i);
    if (ret != DB_NOTFOUND) {
    cerr << "Cursor Error" << endl;
    curp->close();
    catch (DbException &ex) {
    cout << ex.what() << endl;
    if( curp != NULL )
    curp->close();
    I have tried wrapping the cursor in a transaction and it seems to worsen the issue (it happens more frequently). In all methods I am printing error messages when exceptions are thrown by the database (e.g. DbExceptions) and the program prints no errors so I do not believe it is a side effect of some other error. Here is the relevant parts of the case where is RMW lock is used:
    void update()
    DbTxn *txn = NULL;
    try
    env->txn_begin(NULL, &txn, 0);
    int id;
    Dbt key( &id, sizeof(int) );
    Dbt value(buffer, 0);
    value.set_flags(DB_DBT_USERMEM);
    value.set_ulen(MAX_BUFFER_SIZE);
    int err = db->get(txn, &key, &value, DB_RMW);
    if( err == DB_NOTFOUND )
    cerr << "Error trying to read key" << endl;
    txn->abort(0);
    return;
    //code to modify the value here
    db->put(txn, &key, &value, 0);
    txn->commit(0);
    } catch (DbDeadlockException &de) {
    cout << de.what() << endl;
    if( txn != NULL )
    txn->abort();
    Just in case it helps, here is the output of db_stat -CA on the database after it has crashed:

    The number of locks and lockers is somewhat low at 5,000 each, this was intentional since the same error occurs with larger numbers of locks/lockers it simply takes longer to occur. I have reviewed this output and nothing out of the ordinary seems to be occurring as far as I can tell.
    Any additional insight would be appreciated.

    Thanks to both of you for your suggestions.
    I have still noticing the same issue with very similar output etc so I wont repost that. After running it some more I have started seeing another error message, it looks like its very similar and hopefully with make the issue more clear.
    Here is the output of the error file:

    It looks like there is a similar pattern here at the end with the two entries waiting on zero ("80002259/0:     0 80002257/0:     0"), which is why I suspect its the same error just manifesting itself in a slightly different manner.
    I am using lock detection, I currently have it set to use DB_LOCK_MAXLOCKS, I have tried others as well with not change in behavior.
    Most of my transaction code takes the following form, so if the get is successful (the id exists) then the data is updated and written back to the database. If an exception is thrown then it is caught and the transaction is aborted. As far as I can tell this should not leave and transaction handles left open or anything along those lines as the error message suggests.
    void do_txn()
    DbTxn *txn = NULL;
    try
    db->txn_begin(NULL, &txn, 0);
    Data d;
    //does a db->get using the txn pointer and a DB_RMW lock
    //returns do_get returns false if the id does not exist
    bool success = do_get(id, &d, txn);
    if( !success )
    txn->abort();
    return;
    //update data as necessary
    //does a db->put using the txn pointer
    do_put(id, &d, txn);
    txn->commit(0);
    } catch (DbDeadlockException &de) {
    cout << de.what() << endl;
    if( txn != NULL )
    txn->abort();
    }

  • Disable processing status "Locked" for tempaltes

    A template in cProjects has these processing statuses:
    - created
    - released
    - locked
    - obsolete
    I would to deactivate the status "locked".
    Is this possible? If yes, is it also possible if there are already templates that are "locked", or should i "unlock" then before.

    Hi Daniel,
    You can achive this through transaction BS12.
    Select object type DX1 (Project Template). Then Go to Allowed business transaction from the menu bar.
    Untick the business transactions DX07 and DX08.
    The above mentioned steps will decativate lock and unlock status for cProject templates.
    Regards
    Amit
