It really depends on what you want. For example you want to "split the hexa number 1A into 1 and A". Should the output be a string or another U8 number?
Attached are a few possibilities.

  • Reading a text file line by line and splitting each line into an array

    I have a text file that I want to read in line by line and within each line, I want to do some processing. I have a file like the following:
    apples||oranges||bananas||grapes
    cars||trucks||planes||boats
    And I want to end up with an array such that
    First...
    item(0) = apples
    item(1) = oranges
    item(2) = bananas
    item(3) = grapes
    Then move onto the next line with item getting cleared each time. Can anyone offer any ideas on how do to this? I am unclear on reading line by line and then also splitting into an array as I am new to this.
    Thanks.

    For reading a text file in line by line, you want to use a FileReader (java.io.FileReader)
    If you wrap it in a Buffered reader, you can call readLine() and get the file one line at a time.
      File file = new File("C:\myFile.txt");
      BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(file));
      String s = in.readLine();
      while (s != null){
        // string handling here
        s = in.readLine();
      }For the second part, you probably want to look at the method String.split() which should split your string up into an array for you. Check out the API for java.lang.String

  • CONVERTING and IMPORTING .VOB files into FCP?

    Hi.
    I made a dvd of an old vhs tape of mine using a Sony consumer vhs-->dvd component.
    Haven't had any trouble in the past using MPEG streamclip to convert .vob files and import into fcp (from dvd's NOT made on this particular machine) --but for some reason, this dvd doesn't seem to contain those files.
    The icon of the dvd appears as a folder on my desktop with a small red circle on it.
    The dvd plays fine on my G5, but the folder appears to be empty when opened.
    I'm stumped.
    Anyone?

    Buy or hire one of these: http://www.grassvalley.com/products/advcprofessionalfamily then you can capture the tape directly into FCP as a QuickTime .mov that uses the DV codec.
    Don't forget to switch the *Device Control* setting in Log & Capture to *Non-Controllable Device* first.

  • Two effects - Reverse and split picture?

    I was wondering if anyone could explain to me how to do both or either of these effects. For all I know they may be simple to do, however I cannot figure it out.
    1. Reverse - How do you take a video and reverse it. Ex: A car driving forward and then switch to it going backwards the way it came.
    2. Split picture/video - How do you take a video and split it vertically into say 4 or 5 different segments? For this, I need to be able to show only 1 segment at a time and also all of them at once, so a little black line between each segment would be great if anyone could help with these.
    Thanks in advance!

    1. Highlight the clip, right-click on it and select SPEED. When the Speed window opens, check the reverse box.
    2. The easiest way is to create a matte in Photoshop in the configuration you need then layer the matte over the clip.

  • Compress file and split file

    There's this nifty free application on windows called 7-zip that can compress a file and split the file into several parts. I've been searching for a very long time for something like that for mac. The closest I've seen is simplyrar, but it was buggy as it did not allow me to define the file sizes.
    I've been wanting to do this because I have a fat32 drive (simply for mac/windows compatibility) and being fat32 the maximum file size is 4 GB. Thus I wanted to split a larger file so that I can store it on the external drive. Are there any other free alternatives for mac?

    split and concat
    http://www.xs4all.nl/~loekjehe/Split&Concat/
    The Mac Os X command line (terminal.app)
    "split" and "concat" and "gzip"
    To compress, make a compressed disk image of the
    files you want, then split the disk image.

  • How do I convert an array of BYTES (where each BYTE represents a bit) into a single Hex number?

    I am reading a signal from a USB-8451. This signal is stored as an array where each element represents a bit in the signal, but is stored in the array as a byte. How do I convert this array into a single Hex number. I attatched what I have so far, there are a few extra things to help me see what ia going on. One code uses Queue and the other uses arrays, let me know if you can help.

Trithfully I don't really know how I2C devices work, but my mentor here says that we can't use an I2C method becuase it will introduce voltage into the circuit and may damage out TCON chip.
    That makes absolutely no sense. What do you think is happening when you write the digital lines? You're setting a pin high. That voltage is being generated by the 8451x. I think you're not understanding what your mentor is saying. If it's an I2C device then you should be able to use the I2C function to simply talk to it. You still have not indicated what the device is, so there's little more I can say about that aspect of it.
    As far as the conversion is concerned, you basically need loop through your array of "bits", taking 16 at time since you said you have 16-bit values. It's not clear from your code whether your eventual goal is to get a numeric value or a string. This does not appear to be a subVI, so a simply numeric indicator formatted to display in hex format should be quite adequate. The array you are generating is an array of rings, whose datatype is I32, but they will have values of 0 or 1. You can use the example just posted, or you can use the attached variation.

  • How can I convert an ASCII string of variable length to a HEX number?

    Hello,
    I read data from the serial port 5 times in a second (while loop) and the number of bytes read varies every time.
    The data comes in as ASCII string, and I can see the HEX representation if I connect a HEX string indicator, but I need to permanently convert data to a HEX number.
    How can that be done?

    You can use String to Byte Array for this.

    While uploading a file into the DB, It is promting an error: "ORA-01465: invalid hex number"
    how to convert a binary data to hex format in this case.

    Hello again,
    Ok, to upload into the database through APEX, using the file browser, you need to do the following:
    1. Create the file browser item on your page.
    2. Create a page process that is executed on the SUBMIT button.
    The code should be something like this:
    IF ( :P1_FILE_NAME is not null ) THEN
      INSERT INTO oehr_file_subject(id,NAME, SUBJECT, BLOB_CONTENT, MIME_TYPE)
      SELECT ID,:P1_FILE_NAME,:P1_SUBJECT,blob_content,mime_type
         FROM APEX_APPLICATION_FILES
       WHERE name = :P1_FILE_NAME;
      DELETE from APEX_APPLICATION_FILES WHERE name = :P1_FILE_NAME;
    END IF;{size:14}Files uploaded through the file browser are inserted into APEX_APPLICATION_FILES and need to be copied into your file.
    Be sure to include a column in your table for the filename in {color:green}FILENAME.EXT{color} format so that the system will know how to handle the file when you try to download.

  • Convert HEX String into HEX Array

    Hi!
    Probably a silly question, but I am looking for a way to convert a ROM ID number such as "5E03C21000BA" into an short hexadecimal array.
    The way to do this in C would probably be
    char[17] str_romID = "5E03C21000BA";
    uchar[8] romID;
    sscanf(str_romID, "%02X%02X%02X%02X%02X%02X%02X%02X",
    &romID[0], &romID[1], &romID[2], &romID[3],
    &romID[4], &romID[5], &romID[6], &romID[7]);
    but I can't seem to find a way to do this in LabVIEW. I would be very grateful if you could help me out with a sample program. Thanks ever so much!
    Stefan

    Hello Blondchen,
    I have attached a picture to my last explanation. This example doesn't take care of strings with an uneven number of chars!
    My array has only 6 numbers as you only gave a string with 12 chars... That's what I asked before: how should we know where to split your string to the single numbers? Normally I would take 2 chars to form a byte (as I did in the example). If you give me 16 chars I give you 8 bytes...
    I also think your C byte array will be an U8 array in LabView. If you REALLY need I8 numbers you can change the default type of the "hex to string" or cast to I8 (advanced->data manipulation->type cast) after the conversion.

  • How do I split each page into a PDF and name them after a line of text on the split page?

    All,
    I am running a report that is creating hundreds of letters to be sent to customers.  When I run the report it creates one large PDF (one letter = one page).  To help with a specific business solution I need to split each page into an individual PDF.  I know I can extract the pages using the extraction tool.  I have also been able to duplicate this from the Javascript console, but only with generic names.  The problem is that I need each PDF named after the customer's account number.  The account number is listed on the page that I am extracting, but I am having a hard time parsining the text on the pages to find it.
    I need to be able to turn each page into a seperate PDF and then rename that PDF to match the account number list on the page.
    The account number, is of course, different for every customer and has varied prefixes.  The line of text that I need to read starts like this:
    Account Number#: NJA00001
    I need to just pull the NJA00001.
    I would really love to automate this process.
    Can you help me with this?  Thanks in advance.
    PS: I am a little rusty on my Javascript, its been a couple years.

    This can probably be achieved with a custom-made script, but it's not possible to know for sure before seeing some sample files.

    This question is not clear at all.
    "Fractional decimal" is not a data type, but a way of formatting in readable form using numeric characters and a decimal separator.
    Same to "hex number", but only for integers.
    What do you mean by "convert"? Do you want to keep the value the same or retain the bit pattern of the numeric data type?
    Hexadecimal is for integers. Are you talking about fixed point?
    We clearly need significantly more information. What are the input and output data types? What are you actually trying to do?
    Do you have an example input and corresponding output?
