Convert .cpp to .vi
Hi,
Is there a way to convert written text-based codes like .cpp into .vi?
Thanks.
You cannot convert a .cpp file into a VI. There are two possible ways in which you can call external code in LabVIEW.
- You could use Code Interface Nodes (CINs) to access algorithms written in another language. You will need to follow some steps to create a CIN.
Example: Refer to the Multiply using a CIN VI in the labview\examples\cins\mult
- The other common and most used method is to create DLLs in the programming environment and then call those DLLs in LabVIEW using the Call Library Function Node.
Example: Refer to the Call DLL VI in the labview\examples\dll\data passing\Call Native Code.llb
If you have any questions, be sure to search on the NI website or post back.

Error -25596 when trying to connect to use the Informix Online Server native data source
Hi All,
We currently use a very old version on crystal (v9) and have recently downloaded the current version (14.1.1.1036) in order to investigate the effort involved in upgrading.
In the past we have always connected to our IBM Informix Server using the native Crystal Reports Informix Online Server data source, but all attempts with the current version of Crystal Reports are failing with error -25596.
The error is reported by Informix and it has this description:
-25596 The INFORMIXSERVER value is not listed in the sqlhosts file or the
Registry.
The default database server name that the INFORMIXSERVER environment
variable specifies must be a valid database server name in the file
$INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts on UNIX or the registry on Windows. Check
that the specified server is listed in the sqlhosts file or the
registry.
However, I'm of the opinion that the server is known and is configured OK (it's configured using the Informix SetNet32 application and it has resulted in this registry key being populated:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Informix\SqlHosts\prod1_devdb1 (NB: prod1_devdb1 is the name of the server I am trying to connect to).
I can create ODBC datasources on my PC and they work OK. I can also run our legacy VB6 application (using the Crystal 9 COM objects) and connect using the native drivers to the Informix database.
My PC is running 64 bit Windows 7 Enterprise (fully patched). Our Informix server is version 11.7 running on a SUSE server.
Any suggestions for where to start looking to solve this?TIMESTAMP

This is the error I get when I compile aspell with gmake, the reason I need aspell is I use Emacs and need a spell checker and aspell is not in the publisher so thus the need to compile the program. I was able to ./configure with curses disabled but I am stuck at the moment.

How to configure gmake to use gcc instead of Sun cc
I have a Makefile and use gmake yields the error:
bash-3.00$ gmake
g++ -O2 -Wall -c -o BoxFilter.o BoxFilter.cpp
cc -O2 -Wall -c -o maxflow/maxflow.o maxflow/maxflow.c
/usr/ucb/cc: language optional software package not installed
gmake: *** [maxflow/maxflow.o] Error 1
It seems that gmake call g++ to compile .cpp files and Sun cc to compile .c files. As I do not install Sun Studio on the system (Solaris 10u3 1106), I'd like gmake to call gcc, not Sun cc to compile .c files. How can I do this? By the way, my makefile is:
CPPFLAGS = -O2 -Wall
SRC = BoxFilter.cpp Convert.cpp Convolve.cpp Histogram1D.cpp Image.cpp ImageIO.cpp main.cpp MinFilter.cpp ParameterIO.cpp RefCntMem.cpp StcAggregate.cpp StcDiffusion.cpp StcEvaluate.cpp StcGraphCut.cpp StcOptDP.cpp StcOptimize.cpp StcOptSO.cpp StcPreProcess.cpp StcRawCosts.cpp StcRefine.cpp StcSimulAnn.cpp StereoIO.cpp StereoMatcher.cpp StereoParameters.cpp Warp1D.cpp

All the implicit make rules use make variables in their description.
In particular they use CC as C compiler, CXX as C++ compiler, CFLAGS as C compilation flags etc.
If you want to compile with g++/gcc I'ld advise you to set CC=gcc and CXX=g++ in your makefile.
You should use make variables in your rules instead of plain-text as it gives you more flexibility.
(say, after changing as per my advise you can later run "gmake CC=suncc" in order to try Sun Studio ;) or some other compiler).
As for "optional sofware package" message - you have hit an old problem that Solaris does not come with any C compiler preinstalled.
This ucb/cc thingie is just a stub, and its not even a stub to Sun Studio ...

An error occured when loading the task sequence
Good morning,
I can't seem to be able to load any task sequences that have been previously created in SCCM 2012 RTM (updating is not a solution at this time just yet).
Our environment only consists of 1 site and the MDT is installed on this site as well.
After doing some research through the TaskSequenceProvider.Log file, I did trance it down to this log:
![LOG[Failed to load class properties and qualifiers for class BDD_UsePackage in task sequence. 0x80041002 (2147749890)]LOG]!><time="10:50:12.474+300" date="02-19-2014" component="TaskSequenceProvider" context="" type="3" thread="13852" file="convert.cpp:861">
<![LOG[Failed to export task sequence to XML 0x80041002 (2147749890)]LOG]!><time="10:50:12.474+300" date="02-19-2014" component="TaskSequenceProvider" context="" type="3" thread="13852" file="convert.cpp:1249">
I have tried restarting the WMI Service (and SMS Agent Host)... but it did not resolve the issue.
I saw that there are mentions of removing MDT and re-installing it.
I was wondering what are the risks of doing that ?
No, you won't loose anything in ConfigMgr. The already created packages and task sequences will remain, the only thing that gets reinstalled are the console integration (which are the actions you can perform via the console).
Configuring the integration is something on the machine with the console. If they are using the console on the same machine, then yes they should close it. Otherwise files could be in use.

Why is g++ is used to compile .cpp files and /usr/ucb/cc for .c files?
Moreover, /usr/ucb/cc is there as can be confirmed with

What orb are you using in the client?

Adobe Media Encoder CS4 Error: WinFile.cpp-754
When encoding video from one format to another (no matter what is source and what is result file format) I have an error after some time or in the begining of the process. "Adobe Media Encoder has encountered an error ..\..\Src\Win\WinFile.cpp-754"
Version of Encoder is 4.2.0.006 (updated).
I can't encode any files. What is the problem?Any update on this?
I get WinFile.cpp-754 on CS4 and WinFile.cpp-785 on CS5 trying to encode the same AVI file.
I'm trying to load a 59.94 fps AVI file into PremierPro CS4 and need to convert it to something else (correct?) -
Problem with using SPrintf function in a cpp file
SPrintf can be used with .c extension, but when it's used in a .cpp then you get the following:
Error C2664: 'SPrintf' : cannot convert parameter 1 from 'char [10]' to 'unsigned char *'
Types pointed to are unrelated; conversion requires reinterpret_cast, C-style cast or function-style cast
Error executing cl.exe.
But it does compile with .c extension, however this time the rest of the code doesn't work.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
SacitKevin,
Here is a piece from the code:
CIN MgErr CINRun(LStrHandle ParameterFilePath, LStrHandle DataFilePath, LStrHandle OutputFilePath, int32 replace, int32 ver, int16 calrange, int16 istof, LStrHandle OutputString)
int i, StartCh, ChannelNum;
double Density, a, b, sigmachn, sigmawin, sigmascattp, EInit, angle, ns, es,
concentration, totalweight, conversion, Dsample, Count[2048], NetCnts;
char temp[15], Z1Name[2], Z2Name[10][2];
char parafilename;
//char *datafilename = "";
//char *outfilename = "";
//char *cMessageText;
// Make necessary conversions.
LStrLen (*OutputString) = LStrLen(*ParameterFilePath);
//MoveBlock(LStrBuf(*ParameterFilePath), LStrB
uf(*OutputString), LStrLen(*ParameterFilePath));
MoveBlock(LStrBuf(*ParameterFilePath), & parafilename, LStrLen(*ParameterFilePath));
MoveBlock(& parafilename, LStrBuf(*OutputString), LStrLen(*ParameterFilePath));
ifstream parafile, infile;
ofstream outfile;
Ion_Target mIon_Target;
mIon_Target.Z2 = new int(10);
mIon_Target.M2 = new double(10);
mIon_Target.F = new double(10);
// Open parameter file...
parafile.open((char *)parafilename, ios::in|ios::nocreate);
if(parafile == NULL)
//cMessageText = "Couldn't Open Parameter File. Maybe it doesn't exist";
// return -1;
return fIOErr;
parafile.close();
The problem is I have to use ifstream method, because the rest of the code depends on it, and I don't want to deal with the conversion. Otherwise, I would have used FMOpen/FMClose utilities.
So the problem is obvious as you see, all I need is to convert LStrHandle to a char.
When I run the code from LabVIEW, "The instruction at "0x77f83e91" referenced at "0x555c3a44". The memory could not be "read"." error message appears.
I'd appreciate your help.
Sacit

AME error: WinFile.cpp-754
I updated Adobe Media Encoder to version 4.1.0.107 - it worked fine in the past.
But I now get this error message when starting to convert a clip: [../../Src/Win/WinFile.cpp-754]
It doesn't matter which settings I use. It also doesn't matter which codec was used for the source clip.
Any ideas?OK!
Well I called Adobe support yesterday afternoon... that's a bit of a journey in and unto itself! The first call I ended up transferred to Brazil tech support...
Second call fared much better. I ended up speaking with a nice woman there that genuinely cared about my problem and took me through a few different possible causes.
Right off the bat I will say, in my case at the very least, it wasn't Adobe's fault.
I installed the K-Lite codec pack (http://www.filehippo.com/download_klite_codec_pack/) which is a collection of probably a hundred different audio and video codecs... I was a little sketched out about this initially, since it is really an illegal collection of various companies IP, such as macrovision, DIVX and the like. But, it was Adobe's suggestion, so I thought it was worth a try. And you get a chance to set a Windows restore point before the installation, so I suggest when given the option to do that you check that box during the install.
Lo and behold, during the installation of K-Lite, it does a registry check for codecs... turns out I had an issue with the Motion JPEG codec in my Windows registry, it offered to fix it for me, and I did... Bang! Off to the races. I haven't tested AME a whole bunch today, just enough to get my work done, but I will do more investigation later. It is currently working like a charm.
The things I listed in my initial message (Nero, deleting project files, removing prefs) are all good ideas, but the one thing that worked for me was the K-Lite codec pack. Go figure.
Thank you to the lady at Adobe tech support, whose name I can't remember, but whose tips were invaluable. I hope this helps some of you out there with this problem!
Now... the only blame I can attach to Adobe... are those F'n error messages! God damn! They need someone to translate that crap into English, or at least engrish... Winfile cpp 754? What the hell is that? Tell me there is an issue with my windows registry, at the very least... point me in the right direction Adobe so you don't have to put your tech support people (and perhaps more importantly, your CUSTOMERS) through such a nightmare!!

Acrobat X SDK - Plug-in for Batch processing - Convert to PDF/A-1b
I've been working on it, researching for a few days and I cannot find a piece of sample code to save a PDDoc object as PDF/A-1b.
I've found solutions (code snipets) to convert Tiff files to PDF, and to create the OCR needed on the PDF's. But I have only being able to save my files as PDF. I have a requirement to save them as PDF Archived.
Please, a piece of code which directs me into the right direction... The closest I've got is something related to the Preflight. I read the Preflight is accessed through the AVCommand (didn't find sample code about that neither). From what I've found, I need to preflight and "add" some fixups or something, before I can save as PDF/A-1b.
I appreciate any Help on this. Thanks.Found a way - using the AVSaveAsRtfSnip.cpp:
static ACCB1 ASBool ACCB2 myAVConversionFromPDFEnumProc(AVConversionFromPDFHandler handler, AVConversionEnumProcData data)
AVFileFilterRec filter = handler->convFilter;
ASUns16 numFileExt = filter.numFileDescs;
char *kUniqueID = handler->uniqueID;
// go through the conversion handlers to find a handler for PDF extension files and the unique key matches the PDF/A one.
for (ASInt32 i = 0; i < numFileExt; i++)
if (strlen(handler->convFilter.fileDescs[i].extension)>0)
// found it, fill in the handler and return false to stop going on.
if (!strcmp(handler->convFilter.fileDescs[i].extension, "pdf") && !strcmp(kUniqueID,"com.callas.preflight.pdfa")) {
RightHandler = handler;
AVAlertNote("Handler found");
return false ;
return true;
This code is used in my plug-in:
AVConversionEnumFromPDFConverters(myAVConversionFromPDFEnumProc, NULL);
// do conversion
AVConversionStatus stat=AVConversionConvertFromPDFWithHandler(RightHandler, NULL, kAVConversionNoFlags, tempPDF, outputPathName, ASGetDefaultFileSys(), NULL);
// check the returned status and show message
if (stat == kAVConversionSuccess)
AVAlertNote( "The PDF/A file was saved in output folder." );
else if (stat == kAVConversionFailed)
AVAlertNote( "The PDF/A file conversion failed." );
else if (stat == kAVConversionSuccessAsync)
AVAlertNote( "The conversion will continue asynchronously." );
else if (stat == kAVConversionCancelled)
AVAlertNote( "The conversion was cancelled." );
the handler seems to be found, but I am getting "The PDF/A file conversion failed." every time. Don't know why. -
Getting CURL.cpp - Error?
Hi,
I updated to Mountain Lion and when using a audio converter, Sound Grinder 3.4.4, I get an error that reads as follows:
CURL.cpp - error "No URL" when getting Full Path, in getFolderFullPathAs CString0, line: 248
Can't find any thing regarding it so if someone can enlighten me of what this is and if there is a way to fix it I would appreciate it.
Thanks!Funny I posted this and bang I figured it out. Seems Apple is getting as bad as PC's with their convoluted errors that make zero sense. Basically Sound Grinder's path to save a file, which was set in the preferences, was deleted by the new install. So once I told it where to save it was fine.
Thanks for the quick reply by the way! -

CRUSB CAN converter - DLL problem
Hi,
I am trying to read CAN data using Diga CRUSB converter. There is no labview component available thus I am forced to access data using DLL.
The problems start at retrieving the information about the device.The function is as follows:
I tried using clusters like:
The problem is that each time I try running the program, Labview crushes because of memory problems or fpsane.cpp error (when saving the unfinished vi before running).
I am not sure whether the structure used is correct or if I am missing something important.
Please find the DLL and PDF under http://www.diga.biz.pl/zip/crusb_v1/CRUSB_DLL_1_5_0.zip.
Could you please help me with this problem?Howdy!
I am not sure I have an answer but something to try would be to make your cluster of strings have dummy data in the strings. LabVIEW handles memory for you so as long as you stay in LabVIEW you do not need to worry about allocating memory. However, you are stepping outside of LabVIEW by calling into a DLL. Therefore you might need to preallocate memory for the strings. To do this, it might work if you created your strings with data in them to overwrite.
I have had some luck with this on arrays, but I have not done much with passings strings to DLLs, so this is mere conjecture on my part.
Good Luck,
Bob
