Convert Docx and doc to HTML in unix environment with CFMX7

I have a web app that allows user to upload doc or docx files and converts it to HTML. I have CFMX 7 in a unix environment. Is there a custom tag that I could use for this conversion? I tried the cfx_word2html tag .. it converts .doc not docx. Please let me know. Thanks...

I've been pleased with Aspose's Words component.  I use the .NET version, but a Java version is also available.  You could try using CFOBJECT plus the Words Java component to handle document conversion on your server.

  • Converting docx to doc files using wordconv.exe

    Hello,
    I have a requirement wherein I need to convert the docx files to doc files. I looked around and found the "Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File
    Formats" ("http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=941B3470-3AE9-4AEE-8F43-C6BB74CD1466&displaylang=en"). Installing this would place a bunch of files in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\ directory. This folder also contains an executable named "Wordconv.exe" which according to http://www.oooninja.com/2008/02/office-compatibility-pack-review.html converts the docx files to doc files if you use the execute something like the following in the command prompt:-
    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\wordconv.exe" -oice -nme <input file> <output file>
    I downloaded the compatibility pack and tried the above command. Nothing happens. No error message,no output,nothing. I wonder what is the problem. In the above link,some guys have suggested to download the latest windows updates from Windows.
    Well,I tried this in my Windows XP (with Service Pack 2) and only thing I am left to install in service pack 3. Is that required? This WIndows XP machine does not have the Office 2007 installed. Is it required?
    Also,I tried this on a Windows server 2003 machine which also has the compatibility pack and result is same.This machine does have the Office 2007 installed.
    Am I missing anything? If yes,please let me know as I am kinda stuck in this. I dont want to use a commercial product like "Aspose.Words" for this.
    Is there any other tool available from Microsoft to convert docx to doc files? Please let me know.
    I am cuurently looking into the Office tools.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Ashish

  • Office 365 installed, can't choose Word 2007 as the default program for docx and doc files

    I have a client who just installed Office 365 on his Windows 7 PC. He still has Office 2007 installed. He's struggling with the changes in Word 2013 and wants me to uninstall Office 365. I thought I'd just set the default program association for .docx and
    .doc programs to Word 2007 but that doesn't seem possible. I can choose Default Programs, Associate a file type etc., and find the .docx extension. The current default is Word (desktop). I highlight the .docx extension and choose Change Program. The older
    version of Word isn't listed so I click Browse and find Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\winword.exe. Click OK, OK, OK, etc, but .docx files still open in Word 2013. The Default Program applet evidently sees all versions of Word as the same and refuses
    to change the association. How do I accomplish this ridiculously simple task?

    Fixed. Used a great little app from NirSoft called
    FileTypesMan. The built-in Windows utilities are getting worse by leaps and bounds.

  • Convert word into html in unix environment

    We are in the process of developing a coldfusion web
    application which allows the users to upload resumes in word
    format. Once the word document is uploaded we need to convert the
    word document into html on the fly. We know it can be accomplished
    using com object in the windows platform. But ours is a unix
    environment. We need some coldfusion coding which can convert the
    uploaded word file into html. Please take note coldfusion server
    runs on unix platform in our case.

    For step 3 call a 3rd party component such as Aspose.Words to
    handle converting test.doc to test.html. I'd recommend wrapping
    this logic inside a CFC.
    For example using Aspose.Words java object appears to be as
    easy as the Java code:
    Document doc = new Document(getMyDir() + "Document.doc");
    doc.save(getMyDir() + "Document.ConvertToHtml Out.html",
    SaveFormat.HTML);
    Note: I've used the .NET version of Aspose.Words, not the
    Java version, but I've been pleased with the product.
    Aspose.Words formats supported

  • How do i convert docx to doc in Office 2004

    I'm trying to convert word docx files to doc in office 2004.  All I get is a message indicating too little memory or disc space available.

    DOCX is the format used by the newer versions of Microsoft Word.  Word (Office) 2004 can't open it.  You need to open it in Word 2011 on the Mac, or Word 2007 or Word 2010 on the PC, then Save As to the older DOC format.  If you do not have access to a newer version of Word, then have the person who gave you the doc, resave and resend it to you.
    You can also try LibreOffice or OpenOffice.  (Both are free.)  The current versions of both have limited support for opening DOCX files.

  • Converting .pdf and .doc files into .txt file

    Can anyone here please tell me (a humble programmer) if there's anything in Java to help me accomplish the above, i.e. to strip the markup of these files.
    Or perhaps someone might know if there are programs already out there that can?
    Any pointers or advice would be great, thanks

    PDF: iText (www.lowagie.org or .com) and FOP (at apache.org, or maybe jakarta.apache.org) are the de facto standards for writing PDF in Java, but I don't think either of them will help you with reading it. You might check out etymon. I think that reads PDF. Or you could google for java pdf reader
    Doc: Check out POI, again at either jakarta or apache.

  • Converting XML and XSL into HTML

    Hello!
    I'm designing a servlet class that merges an xml file and xsl file into html that will be sent to the client. But I don't understand how the (sparsely documented) javax.xml.transform.dom package works. An exception is generated for a missing "version" tag, when I've included one that has worked on client-side xml/xsl pages before. If it matters, I'm using Apache Tomcat/JDK 1.4.
    Here's the code:package mypackage.servlet.xml;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;

    Hi!
    I found the immediate answer with

  • Open XML converter not coverting docx to doc

    I am trying to open docx in word 2004 for mac. On my old iBook I had the microsoft Open XML converter which worked fine. I just download it on my newly acquired macbook and it only converts docxs to rfts. How do I get it to convert docxs to docs?

    Check the MS website; I believe they offer a free docx converter now. TextEdit will open docx documents, but often without the formatting. OpenOffice probably opens them, as well.
    I use docxConverter, a free utility available from many places online.

  • Open docx and xlsx on url:s with safari on iPad.

    hi,
    I can open these files when they are attached in a e-mail. If I get an e-mail with a url to the same file, Safari can not open it. With old office format, xls and doc it is working, but not with the new format, xlsx and pptx for example. If I install an app who can open these files I can tap the file and choose open with and open it with the installed app. If i get an e-mail with url which is pointing to an pdf there is no problem.
    My question is, is there a way to get Safari to open the files office files?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance:-)

    Excel, file association is ok. Even tried with Incredimail free. everything works ok there, butt I like Thunderbird better so I would like to solve this problem. The weirdest thing is that this problem is on a laptop which I installed from a disk immage. It is one of five exactly the same laptops, and all installed from same immage, and only this one has a problem with it,other 4 are ok.
    Let me give you a little more info:
    Laptop is Acer Aspire E1-522
    OS is win 7 pro
    Office 2010 pro
    Installation of all suplemental programs and Thunderbird I installed from ninite.com
    I've tried everything you listed. Even tried to swich disks between 2 laptops, to rule out any hardware problem of some sort.
    As I mentioned before I tried installing Incredimail free just for the test, everything works in it. File association is ok every file is opened with its program when on desktop or other place.
    Why is this a problem with those files I dont know. Other files .xls and .doc and .pdf work just fine. If there was an option to manually add file extentions in Tools > Options > Attachments it would solve the problem. I'm all out of options. If you can think of something let me now.
    Thanks for all your help and your time.
    Sorry on grammar mistakes ect... english is not my native language.
    Best regards

  • JQuery.js not working in UNIX environment

    Hi All,
    My development environment is Linux with Apache and we are using Coldfusion 9.
    We have developed some part of our code using jQuery.
    This is perfectly working in our DEV environment.
    We shipped the same code to the Production Environment. Which is Coldfusion 5 and Unix Environment with Apache Server.
    The problem is the parameter passing to jQuery is always null.
    Is jQuery will not work in Coldfusion 5?
    Your help is needed.
    Thanks in advance!

    1. CF versions 9 and 5 and radically different.  I wouldn't expect code written for CF9 to run on CF5.
    2. CF runs on the server, jQuery runs in the brower, the version of CF on your server shouldn't be relavent.  You should look for the problem in the HTML, Javascript, CSS, etc. in the browser.
    3. We cannot help diagnose your problem without seeing the code that is causing the problem and any error messages you receive.
    4. If this is a issue with jQuery on the browser you might consider posting a question to a jQuery specific forum.
