Convert flash site to html?

I have an all-flash site (www.CBRTA.org). For the benefit of
certain clients who won't install the Flash plugin, I have to
create a mirror html site. Does anyone know how I go about
converting an all-Flash site into html? And quickly? I have access
to Dreamweaver 8 and Flash 8.

No such thing. Flash is not html based and therefore cannot
be converted.

    Sorry... unless you've separated the content out already,
    like into a
    database, you're going to need to cut/paste etc... there's no
    easy way if
    the site is all inside of Flash.

  • FLash site will redirect to 3 subdomains(html,blog,forum)How SEO Friendly is going to be MyWebsite?

    I'm building a website which is going to have 3 subdomains to load within . One html  is going to promote the services and sell it (135mb), one  WordPress blog news (15mb) and one vBulettin forum. For this reason I have a typical flash template with 4 selections, with one click for each of the 4 images which will describe the content,  this will redirect people to the right place ( html website,blog, and forum ) . What is the best method to SEO my website ? I need people to know/easy to find me on google, to know abaut the services I offer, blog news and forum. I cannot enter all those menus on the services subdomain because I dont want people to get scared that they have to pay for someting and get out; the blog looks more worst compare with html so I cant enter all links in there..; forum its forum..
    So my only decent option is to have this flash site with 3 big options which will redirect people to their choises. But how is going to affect SEO ? am'I going to need to SEO my subdomains, like www.mywebsite.com/services , or the main flash site ?
    thank you

    I agree with what Ned is saying, the Home page for your site IS normally the most important and should be well packed with SEO targeted content... of which Flash by itself is not very good. In addition, iOS devices like the iPhone will not display the Flash.
    So while it is possible to get great page rankings for those various sections, the HTML, Blog, or Forum, it may take longer and lacking good SEO for your Home page, in effect will dillute the overall SEO effectiveness of the site.
    So my advise, don't use Flash for your Home page. If you do, then you should use swfobject and create extensive alternate content. This alt content will satisfy the SEO requirements as well as provide a display for iProducts.
    For your review:
    If you think that Flash is somehow bad for SEO, it's time to dispell that MYTH!
    If fact, in some circumstances I'll use Flash INSTEAD of just HTML because then I'll have better SEO than with just HTML alone.
    The client provided the artwork for the page... and that's what they wanted to use a .jpg image. Well yes, that could be done in HTML but it would be virtually invisible to Google. So Instead I converted the image into a Flash .swf and used swfobject to display the Flash. swfobject allows you to create alternate content inside the <div> which also holds the Flash .swf, then when the page is loaded it detects if the browser has the Flash pluggin. If it does, it displays just the Flash content, if not, it displays the alternate content. Since almost everyone has the Flash pluggin, for most people the Flash version of the <div> will display.
    The alternate content for that <div> can be any regular HTML text, images, media player, links, etc., anything that you would use if you were not using the Flash. Now the best part is that the alternate content can be "over the top" as far as optimizing for SEO, since it will not be seen by most viewers.
    Here's another example of SEO with Flash.. again, the page is just a single image provided by the client:
    http://www.ksowetsuits.com/
    View the source code. The alt content is paragraph after paragraph of information about the site, including lists and links. If it was just the HTML, it might be kind of a boring Home page. But for SEO I can go "over the top" in promoting the site, since most viewers will never see that part... but it's all indexed by search engines. The end result is BETTER SEO using Flash than just HTML.
    On another Web site, a Flash video is displayed, the alt content is the complete text narration of the video. Now how many people would take the time to read that if they could just watch the video instead?? again, better SEO with Flash than without. In fact in one case we had first page search result from that video narration within 4 hours of posting the page.
    On still another site with a Flash video, the alt content is another video, but a .mov version, which will, in effect play Flash video on the iPhone (not possible you say??). Well since the iPhone does not have Flash pluggin, it simply displays the .mov version of the video, while everyione else sees the Flash version.
    So anyway, if Flash is a part of your Web development, you should look into using swfobject and alternate content.

  • Flash Sitting on top of .html

    Hello - I have seen on the front page of Yahoo - on their
    advertising section on the right of the page flash movies that when
    you mouse over them they spread over to take up a large section
    sitting over .html of the page. How is this done? I did a search
    for "flash on top of html" - but nothing came up, so I hope I am
    not asking a redundent question - if I am I apologize.
    Thanks - Eric

    The effect you describe it done with Layers which are quite
    easy if you familiar with Dreamweaver.
    Let me elaborate.
    You can not get beyond flash to animate beyond the canvas
    boundaries (the movie size defined in your
    object embed tags). These are movies that are actually with
    transparent background, using WMODE parameter
    to achieve that, it makes them appear like they fly all over
    the HTML document while they actually just
    large movies with no background. Another way to do it, is to
    use Wmode and animate the layer itself
    rather then making a huge movie canvas to cover the space
    WMODE however is known to cause problems, from crashing
    browsers to disabling actions ,screwing up buttons
    etc... So be aware of it, if suddenly some of the features
    stop working, you know what's the reason behind
    it. That's why it's commonly use for ads only, minimum user
    interaction.

  • Converting flash to mp4 (or mov)

    does anyone know of a FREE program that can convert flash files to mp4 (or .mov)?
    thank you if you do!

    Most serious mac users would have this excellent and free program - MPEG Streamclip.
    You can get it here also from the downloads section of this Apple site:
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
    Download the beta version 1.9.3b2 and you will be able to directly download YouTube videos (File > Open URL).
    Otherwise just drag your file into the MPEG window then click on File > Export to QuickTime.
    From the first choice (compression) choose Apple Intermediate Codec.
    Leave all else alone until you get a handle on it.
    Choose a destination for your video then you will be able to import it into iMovie: File > Import > Movies...

  • Alternative to flash site

    http://michaelgrecco.com/
    Hello - I am used to designing in flash (my current website is fully in flash).
    I would like to make my next site in HTML so it's viewable on apple devices.
    I have never built a site in HTML.  If I wanted to make a site similar in scope to the one above, can soemone point me in the right direction?
    What programs are used etc?  Any feedback would be great.
    I want to buy some  online tutorials, but I'm not exactly sure what to get (HTML, javascript, CSS.....)
    Thanks!

    Actually, this entire thread should probably be posted on the Dreamweaver General forum .. as the original question was not about developing a flash site in html5 specifically, but in html.
    To the original poster:  How easily your site can be converted is going to depend on why your site was developed in Flash in the first place.  If it was for animation, it may be hard to convert .. even using the canvas tag technology of html5.  Also keep in mind that html5 is only going to work on a handful of browsers and not the ones most people use.  It's coming, but it's not there yet.
    I personally am converting a site that I did about 4 years ago in Flash (mostly because of the ability to change content with loaders and text in xml files to the stage) to html and PHP and I love the results so far.  I am using PHP includes where I once used xml in flash and it's working well.  It loads faster also .. I'm very pleased with the results.

  • Trying to bypass pop-up blockers on a flash site

    Trying to bypass pop-up blockers on a flash site. Nothing
    malicious, just going from a Flash interface to html so I can write
    to a cookie. If I try to load the page in the same window, then
    when you go back to the flash you are starting from the beginning
    which makes it rather cumbersome. I was hoping to just load a
    pop-up to avoid this.
    Within the index.html page I have a javascript page loaded.
    In the .js file I have
    function Popupport_checkout(){
    myleft=(screen.width)?(screen.width-430)/2:100;mytop=(screen.height)?(screen.height-380)/2 :100;
    settings='top=' + mytop + ',left=' + myleft +
    ',width=430,height=380,location=no,directories=no,
    menubar=no,toolbar=no,status=no,scrollbars=yes,res
    izable=yes,fullscreen=no'
    PopupWin=window.open('cart_checkout.htm','PopupWin ',
    settings);
    PopupWin.focus();}
    If I have a button within flash with a --
    on (release) {
    getURL("javascript:Popupport_checkout()");}
    --script it works fine.
    But if I have a text field set to html and load in the
    variable --
    &BUYLINK=<a
    href="javascript:Popupport_checkout()">PLACE ORDER</a>
    --if you click on PLACE ORDER it doesn't work.
    ANy help would be appreciated.

  • How can I resize my Flash site to fit any screen resolution?

    I built a 100% flash site with tiled framing but I have a

    tlcarl,
    > I know most people probably view at 1024 x 768.
    You think so? Even if they have their resolution that high
    (which is
    fairly standard, nowadays), do you think most people maximize
    their browsers
    to fill that whole area?
    > Is there anyway to auto resize based up on screen
    > resolution or something to detect the screen size and
    > adjust the webpage accordingly.
    There is, indeed. :) Check out the Stage.onResize event in
    the
    ActionScript 2.0 Language Reference. That event is dispatched
    when the
    browser (or whatever container) is resized -- in cases where
    the SWF is
    embedded with percentages. If that's your aim, you'll need to
    code against
    that event, which can be done like this ...
    http://www.quip.net/blog/2006/flash/how-to-position-movie-clips-browser-resizing
    It can take a bit of thought, depending on the complexity of
    your goal,
    but the result is usually worth it. The site in your URL is
    already built,
    so this wouldn't do much of anything without opening the
    hood, so to speak,
    and completely rebuilding the engine. A Flash movie has to be
    designed and
    programmed to respond to the Stage.onResize event.

  • How do I get the Flash site to work on the server

    Hi,
    I'm a beginner working with Studio 8. I have the Flash site
    working as desired from my desktop, but I have issues once loaded
    to the server. Hopefully someone here can point me in the right
    direction.
    Firstly, I would like the site to work within a non-sizeable
    browser window. I am not sure how to do this.
    Secondly, when I try to visit the uploaded site, it appears
    not to load properly. I see an isolated movie clip loaded on the
    screen, but my pre-loader never displays, and there is no animation
    at all.
    I am not sure where to start looking, but if you do, please
    share - grateful, I will be.
    -Brian

    ok - here is an update.
    For reasons unknow to me, the Flash site works on my pc now
    that I re-published the html. Unfortunately, everyone else that I
    ask to visit have to refresh their browser before they see it
    animate and work.
    *sigh*

  • Flash Site Template Help With Text

    So I downloaded a flash template to use for my website... all I need are some editing of the texts, pictures, and some of those links. Here is the template:
    http://www.templatemonster.com/flash-templates/24451.html
    My problem is I'm completely NEW at flash. I used to use FrongPage 2003 for my webdesign but I wanna use this for my new website (since it looks a lot better!) How do I edit the text fields? I can only seem to move the bar along the timeline to watch the animation, and see all the layers and item properties that none have anything with the text in them. And also the images as well, if I need to do anything special with those (within template link above you'll see they flash white for a second) and the main logo has some animation there. I have all the fonts required but I don't know if I also have to make the logo with those special white flashy lines like a GIF animator or if that's just some special affect within the template itself.
    Now due to legal notices specified by the site I can't share the template with you but I'll attempt to answer any and all questions i can to see if I can get this all figured out so I can begin adding my own content to the site. Thanks in advance.

    Doesn't look like there's an xml file for the text. Reading the template help index, and its saying some text might have complex coding for special effects and that I'd have to edit by the Library or something, so I'll try using that reference for now. I appreciate the help and I may come back if this can't help me lol
    EDIT:   It says I'm missing the font file "tahoma" mapped to _sans    ....??  I have tahoma... as well as the main title logo isn't appearing in the .fla file anymore even though I got the correct font. I'm confused >.<
    Edit 2: As well I get this a lot on many different areas:
    Forms Component - Version 0.81
    Couldn't load configuration.

  • How to show a MPEG4/H.264 video in Flash in an HTML page?

    Maybe my title isn't clear. I am hoping someone can shed some
    light on the h264 use in flash.
    Instead of displaying a progressive download .FLV video , I
    am trying to have an MPEG4 /h.264 approx. - a 30meg video display
    in flash in an .html page. Quicktime is easy to do, but Flash is my
    goal.
    I read several articles on h264 and flash 9, including this
    adobe
    H264 article but was hoping there might be an easier and maybe
    quicker solution. I did try renaming the .mp4 extension to .flv in
    dreamweaver but it did not display the video. (...unless it was
    downloading the video completely before displaying...not sure)
    There is a ton of sites, blogs and articles on h.264 and how
    flash 9 will display it...but when it comes to how one might
    actually have h.264 in flash on their own site...I am finding it
    difficult to figure out.
    Forgive my lack of action script and Flash knowledge...any
    direction is appreciated.
    Erick

    ...well I did follow that article on playing an h264/mpeg4
    video in flash. It works well, but how would you add playback
    controls?
    FLVPlayback component only allows you to source an FLV video
    not h264/mpeg4.
    This is probably a simple as3 answer...but I am not
    knowledgeable on as3 to know what code to add.
    Any suggests or direction that I should look would be great.
    In the meantime I am researching actionscript 3 to find and anwer.

  • Tips for Changing Flash Website to HTML / Dreamweaver

    I am going to be taking over the management of a website that was designed entirely in Flash. There really is no need for the entire website to be entirely in Flash - it is confusing to navigate and most of the content would be so much easier to update and maintain if it were saved in html. I want to keep two flash effects - one is the splash page and the other is gallery where a grid of photos flips up like cards and you can click the individual photos for a link to a specifications page.
    So, my question.  Is there an easy way to transition the site from flash only into html / dreamweaver? I think I already know the answer to this - "NO" - I'm going to have to redesign the site in dreamweaver and just insert the two flash elements I want to keep, but if anybody has any tips or tricks that would be FANTASTIC!  Thanks.

    The problem with FLASH sites is that they speak a different language - Action Script instead of HTML.  While some Flashy effects can be emulated with DHTML (JavaScript, JQuery etc...) it's not always possible to achieve the exact same feel without FLASH.  Everything depends on how Flash-centric the original site is and how much your client/boss is willing to toss out in favor of a more web accessible, search engine / user friendly / standards compliant website.
    Incidentally, SPLASH pages are a complete waste of prime URL real estate.  You don't want a Flash or image only SPLASH intro page on your ALL IMPORTANT domain name default page.  If anything, you need to rebuild home page in HTML with plenty of keyword rich content for search engines and people to grab onto.
    For more meaningful suggestions, please post a URL to the live site?  It will be interesting to see how it ranks on Google and other SEs.

  • How to convert word documents to html page in sharepoint online 2013

    Hi,
    I am new SharePoint and still learning it.
    I have been tasked to do the following on office 365 E3 SharePoint 2013 Online edition.
    1) I have to create a Web page in asp.net
    2) This page needs to show document from a given SharePoint folder and bind them in a grid or dropdown on the asp .net web page
    3) On selecting the document from the drop down or gird (on asp .net webpage), I need to show the SharePoint word document as HTML on the webpage (something like word to html) Note: These SharePoint word document may contain Images, bullets, tables etc.
    What I have been able to do till now
    1) I have been able to connect to SharePoint from ASP .net application.
    2) I have been able to retrieve document from a specific SharePoint folder.
    3) Read the document from SharePoint folder and bind them to a drop down on the asp .net page.
    What is missing?
    I am not aware about any API that SharePoint Online provides to convert Word document to HTML. Any code sample or reference on how to will be much appreciated.
    I am not also not sure what is the best way of achieving the functionality this?
    Thanks
    Krishna

    If this was SharePoint server then it would be easy however in O365 You need to create a app which will use the word automation service and below is  powershell which you can use for the conversion:-
    # This script will convert Docx to PDF using word automation and similarly it can be used to convert to HTML
    $wordFile="http://contoso/kick.docx"
    $pdfFile="http://contoso/kick.pdf"
    $wasp = Get-SPServiceApplicationProxy | where { $_.TypeName -eq "Word Automation Services Proxy" }
    $site = Get-SPSite "http://contoso"
    $ConvertJob = New-Object Microsoft.Office.Word.Server.Conversions.SyncConverter($wasp)
    $ConvertJob.UserToken = $site.UserToken
    $ConvertJob.Settings.UpdateFields = $false
    $ConvertJob.Settings.OutputFormat = "PDF"
    $ConvertJob.Convert($wordFile, $pdfFile)

    Hello, same problem here. How did you fix it, the truth is I'm new to flash, and I don't know what to do. The Html code is here:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"><head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
    <title>Floreor - espai per a la bellesa i el benestar</title>
    <link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="style.css">
    </head>
    <body>
    <table width="768" class="gen" align="center">
        <tr>
            <td>
                <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
               codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,24"
               width="766" height="766">
        <param name="movie" value="flash/mainV8.swf">
        <param name="quality" value="high">
        <param name="menu" value="false">
        <!--[if !IE]> <-->
        <object data="swf/mainV8.swf"
                width="766" height="766" type="application/x-shockwave-flash">
         <param name="quality" value="high">
         <param name="menu" value="false">
         <param name="pluginurl" value="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer">
         FAIL (the browser should render some flash content, not this).
        </object>
        <!--> <![endif]-->
       </object></td>
        </tr>
    </table>
    </body>
    </html>
    What am I doing wrong? It's working with opera and firefox, but not for safari, chrome or explorer. Thank you very much
