Convert OIM single domain in a cluster domain

Hello All,
I have an OIM domain which was at first created as a single instance.
Can you provide high level steps to convert it to a cluster?
OIM 11.1.1.5
Weblogc 10.3.6
Thanks,
Adr

Hey Kevin,
What about if I bring my OIM non-cluster down.
Then I create another domain, a cluster this time, pointing to the same OIM database schema used by the non-cluster installation.
Then I'll bring the cluster domain up.
What are the chances this could work?
Thanks,
Adr

    Your problem sounds somewhat like mine, although not exactly. In my case it seems as if my CD/DVD drive didn't like the hologram on my Windows XP install CD. I solved this by using Disk Utility to make a disk image of the Windows DVD and then burning the disk image onto a new DVD with an opaque "label". That solved that problem.
    A further problem occurred after that. When I got to the screen that told me to hit "Enter" to start the installation process my keyboard was unresponsive. I solved this by buying a cheap Windows keyboard. That solved that problem and I now have Windows XP running just fine.
    I think that you'll find that Apple tech support isn't very responsive to these sort of problems. I don't have Apple Care but was willing to pay my $49 for tech support. I ended up talking to a "Boot Camp specialist". He was polite but told me that it was "a windows problem" and that Apple didn't support Windows. I agree that Apple can't support windows but it seemed like my two problems were "Mac problems". Anyway, after tearing my hair out for 4 days I finally got it done. I have to admit that I'm not happy with apple tech support.

  • Cluster nodes discover peers outside cluster domain

    All, cross-posted from the ColdFusion Server Administration
    forum:
    I've run into an issue with CFMX7 clustering on a subnet with
    multicast disabled. In our configuration, we have two physical
    Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition servers hosting nine
    ColdFusion MX 7 Enterprise clusters. Each server hosts one of two
    instances in a cluster. i.e.:
    server1 [1.2.3.4] - instance1-1 <- cluster1 -> server2
    [1.2.3.5] - instance1-2
    server1 [1.2.3.4] - instance2-1 <- cluster2 -> server2
    [1.2.3.5] - instance2-2
    server1 [1.2.3.4] - instance3-1 <- cluster3 -> server2
    [1.2.3.5] - instance3-2
    server1 [1.2.3.4] - instance4-1 <- cluster4 -> server2
    [1.2.3.5] - instance4-2
    server1 [1.2.3.4] - instance5-1 <- cluster5 -> server2
    [1.2.3.5] - instance5-2
    server1 [1.2.3.4] - instance6-1 <- cluster6 -> server2
    [1.2.3.5] - instance6-2
    server1 [1.2.3.4] - instance7-1 <- cluster7 -> server2
    [1.2.3.5] - instance7-2
    server1 [1.2.3.4] - instance8-1 <- cluster8 -> server2
    [1.2.3.5] - instance8-2
    server1 [1.2.3.4] - instance9-1 <- cluster9 -> server2
    [1.2.3.5] - instance9-2
    My first step in enabling peer discovery was to add the
    unicastPeer attribute to the ClusterManager service under each
    instance.
    e.g. jrun.xml on instance1-1:
    <service class="jrunx.cluster.ClusterManager"
    name="ClusterManager">
    <attribute name="bindToJNDI">true</attribute>
    <attribute name="enabled">true</attribute>
    <attribute
    name="clusterDomain">cluster1</attribute>
    <!-- While we will discover nearby peers automatically
    without prior knowledge -->
    <!-- of them, you can also add as many specific hosts as
    you wish; these unicast -->
    <!-- peers do not need to be nearby or reachable via
    multicast. -->
    <!--EXAMPLE: <attribute
    name="unicastPeer">sneville</attribute> -->
    <attribute name="unicastPeer">1.2.3.5</attribute>
    <service class="jrunx.cluster.ClusterDeployerService"
    name="ClusterDeployerService">
    <attribute
    name="deployDirectory">{jrun.server.rootdir}/SERVER-INF/cluster</attribute>
    <attribute name="deactivated">false</attribute>
    </service>
    </service>
    e.g. jrun.xml on instance1-2:
    <service class="jrunx.cluster.ClusterManager"
    name="ClusterManager">
    <attribute name="bindToJNDI">true</attribute>
    <attribute name="enabled">true</attribute>
    <attribute
    name="clusterDomain">cluster1</attribute>
    <!-- While we will discover nearby peers automatically
    without prior knowledge -->
    <!-- of them, you can also add as many specific hosts as
    you wish; these unicast -->
    <!-- peers do not need to be nearby or reachable via
    multicast. -->
    <!--EXAMPLE: <attribute
    name="unicastPeer">sneville</attribute> -->
    <attribute name="unicastPeer">1.2.3.4</attribute>
    <service class="jrunx.cluster.ClusterDeployerService"
    name="ClusterDeployerService">
    <attribute
    name="deployDirectory">{jrun.server.rootdir}/SERVER-INF/cluster</attribute>
    <attribute name="deactivated">false</attribute>
    </service>
    </service>
    . . . and so on for each instance and cluster. This is where
    the problem begins. When I start the instances, every instance
    discovers every other instance as a cluster peer, regardless of
    cluster domain.
    Another forum user suggested using host:port, where port is
    the JNDI listening port. That doesn't work. Using the Jini
    listening port, however, does work, e.g.:
    <attribute
    name="unicastPeer">1.2.3.4:4160</attribute>
    That presents another problem. The Jini listening port
    defaults to 4160. If 4160 is taken, a port is chosen at random.
    I can't find documentation on setting a static Jini listening
    port, if that's even the correct action to take.
    Thoughts?
    From what I can tell, the version of Reggie (the Jini lookup
    service) shipped with JRun only supports setting the unicast
    listening port programmatically. Reggie is started by
    jrunx.cluster.ClusterManager.init--actually, the private method
    startLookupService--and JRun doesn't appear to ever call Reggie's
    setUnicastPeer method.
    Assuming we can't tweak Reggie, I guess a more appropriate
    question is how do we get JRun's RMI service (?) to honor
    groups/domains in a call to getPeers? I'll cross-post to the JRun
    forums and investigate JRun Updater 6.
    Trev

    . . . and it appears I'm exposing my ignorance of Jini in
    general. :-)
    If I now understand the Jini discovery process correctly, a
    multicast request includes one or more service IDs and one or more
    groups. The registrar will respond if and only if its service ID is
    not in the request and its group memberships exactly match one or
    more of the groups in the request.
    A unicast request includes nothing more than the protocol
    version, and the registrar will respond as if a valid multicast
    request had been received.
    In both cases, the response packet includes a marshalled copy
    of the ServiceRegistrar object and the names of all groups of which
    the registrar is a member.
    Without looking at more of JRun, I'm guessing that in some,
    if not all cases, either JRun's discovery implementation assumes
    that any response from a unicast query is valid, regardless of the
    server IDs or group names received, or the logic that sorts out the
    response isn't 100% correct.

  • Trusted certificate expired when starting cluster domain

              I follow the instructions in doc to create one cluster domain with 2 managed servers,
              one proxyServer, then I found out the trusted certificate error, is that I must
              get the trusted certificate from BEA? I use the weblogic server 8.1 downloadable
              from bea site.

    Hi,

  • Change of domain for the cluster nodes

    Hi,
    We need to change our existing domain i.e. NT domain to windows 2003 domain for the SAP production server cluster nodes.
    There are 2 nodes. They are in active active mode.
    Windows 2000 advanced server is installed in the nodes.
    Can anybody tell us that during the change of the domain what else we need to take care or what should be correct procedure for this so that database & application does not have any impact
    Eagerly waiting for the reply
    With best regards
    Joydeep

    I would NOT do that.
    What immediately comes to my mind is:
    - users need to be recreated in the new domain
    - filesystem owners and permissions of all SAP and database directories must be changed
    - permissions on registry keys must be changed
    - owner/permissions of the files in the cluster filesystem must be changed
    There is no easy way of doing this. Depending on the database that is used more things are necessary. If you don't exactly know, where which application has files, it will certainly be troublesome.
    The safest way would be to use a different hardware and do a homogeneous system copy by reinstalling the cluster in the new domain.

  • Cluster domain config - newbie question

    Hi,
    I need to configure a clustered domain on Host1 and Host2 with one managed_server1 on Host1 and one managed_server2 on Host2.
    I followed the steps outlined below but ended up with both managed servers running on Host1 rather then managed_server1 running on Host1 and managed_server2 running on Host2. Can someone please clarify the right procedure for me.
    1. I installed the software on both Host1 and Host2.
    2. From Host1 ran the config.sh to create a domain.
    3. While creating a domain I created an admin server to run at Host1:7001 and one managed_server1 to run at Host1:7003.
    At the same time I also did create a cluster with cluster address as Host1:7003,Host2:7003.
    Also created machines Host1, Host2. Assigned admin server and managed_server1 to machine Host1.
    Finished with the domain.
    4. Started node managers on both servers, started the admin server, then from the admin server console
    I created another managed_server2 which I assigned to Host2 and the cluster that I created in step 3,
    started both managed servers from the console.
    My question is - now both my managed servers are running on Host1 and on Host2 I only have the node manager process.
    Is this correct? Because my domain directory under user_projects is located on Host1, nothing on Host2,
    in fact I even don't have user_projects directory on Host2. Should I copy the directory structure (user_projects/domains/<my_domain>) to Host2 manually?
    Thank you
    Anatoliy

    Hi Anatolly
    There are some discrepencies in the way you created cluster for the Env you want. Here are brief outline steps. Will give the full link at the bottom.
    1. Install SAME version of Weblogic Server on both the machines Machine1 and Machine2. Note that it should be the same version absolutely.
    2. On Machine1, Create a Cluster Domain. At the time of creation select customize option. Create 2 Managed Servers MS1 and MS2. Give the machine IP adddress or dns names for each ms1 and ms2 where they are gonna run. You can use the same port, since they are running on different machines. Ofcourse you will have one Admin Server assuming its on Machine1 itself. Create only ONE cluster and in next screen add both ms1 and ms2 to this cluster. You can have any number of clusters. Bur for your usecase, you need only one cluster with 2 managedservers. Admin server is NOT part of cluster.
    3. Now you have a Clustered domain with AdminServer and MS1 on Machine1 and MS2 that should run on Machine2. MS1 and MS2 are part of cluster
    4. Within Machine1, run a command called pack (see below link for details). This will create a .jar file with the name you specify during pack command.
    5. copy the above .jar file to other Machine2. Run unpack command on this other machine. Now you will have MS2 created on other machine.
    You can always start adminserver and ms1 (first managed server) on machine1 using normal startweblogic and startmanagedweblogic commands. On other machine run startmanagedweblogic and give that server name which is ms2.
    You do not need Node manager by default. Incase if you want to start/stop ms2 server running on other machine from main master machine MS1, then you need to configure node manager etc.

  • High Availability for Existing Single Exchange Server holding Multiple Domains

    Hi,
    I'm trying to implement solution for Backup/Redundancy/High-availability for the existing Exchange Server 2013.
    Currently the Exchange Server 2013 deployed on 2012 Server is holding 4 Domains (1 internal domain  & 3 public/published domains). The Exchange Server is hosted Internally & published to send & receive mails from the SMTP relay(Third party
    resides on internet) server. Client Access & Mailbox Services are on the same server.
    Please advice me which is the best scenario to implement a backup/redundancy/high-availability for the current server.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Rconfig: converting a single instance to RAC instance

    Hi,
    I am trying to use the "rconfig" utility to convert a single instance to a RAC instance in an existing RAC cluster.
    I have modified the .xml file, and am trying to run the conversion from the 1st node in the 2 node cluster (where the single instance resides).
    The only error message i seem to be getting is below:
    <Response>
    <Result code="1" >
    Operation Failed
    </Result>
    <ErrorDetails>
    ORCL_DATA_ORCLCLN The specified diskgroup is not mounted.
    </ErrorDetails>
    </Response>
    </Convert>
    </ConvertToRAC></RConfig>
    Now I dont really understand why I would be getting that message as the instance is up and running and ASM disk group is mounted on node1 at the time i run the rconfig command, though its not clear to me if I also need to somehow mount the ASM disk group on the second node prior to running the rconfig command??
    node1:
    bash-3.00$ asmcmd -p
    ASMCMD [+] > lsdg
    State Type Rebal Unbal Sector Block AU Total_MB Free_MB Req_mir_free_MB Usable_file_MB Offline_disks Name
    MOUNTED EXTERN N N 512 4096 1048576 10181 7442 0 7442 0 ORCL_DATA_ORCLCLN/
    node2:
    ASMCMD [+] > lsdg
    State Type Rebal Unbal Sector Block AU Total_MB Free_MB Req_mir_free_MB Usable_file_MB Offline_disks Name
    I have attached the output of the alert log during the rconfig conversion of the target database, but it all looks pretty standard to me (keep in mind i am an oracle novice!).

    Ok,
    So I managed to get the disk group mounted on the second node, and re-ran the rconfig process.
    I got a little further, but encountered another error which is displayed below:
    -bash-3.00$ rconfig racconv.xml
    <?xml version="1.0" ?>
    <RConfig>
    <ConvertToRAC>
    <Convert>

    </Response>
    </Convert>
    </ConvertToRAC></RConfig>
    I am not using a shared oracle home, each node in the cluster has its own oracle installation residing on local disk. Is a shared oracle home a pre-requisite for usin rconfig?
    I have provided the .xml file I am using below:

  • Best Practice when deploying a single mdb into a cluster

    At a high level, we are converting all of our components to Weblogic processes that use Stateless Session Beans and Message Driven Beans. All of the weblogic processes will be clustered, and all of the topic queues will be distributed (Uniform Distributed Topics / Queues).
              We have one component that is a single MDB reading from a single queue on 1 machine. It is a requirement that the JMS messages on that queue be processed in order, and the processing of messages frequently requires that the same row in the DB be updated. Does anyone have any thoughts on the best design for that in our clustered environment?
              One possible solution we have come up with (not working):
              Possible Solution 1: Use a distributed topic and enforce a single client via client-id on the connection factory, causing a single consumer.
              1.Deploy a uniform-distributed Topic to the cluster.
              2.Create a connection factory with a client-id.
              3.Deploy a single FooMDB to the cluster.
              Problem with Solution 1: WL allows multiple consumers on Topic with same client-id
              1.Start (2) servers in cluster
              2.FooMDB running on Server_A connects to Topic
              3.FooMDB running on Server_B fails with unique id exception (yeah).
              4.Send messages - Messages are processed only once by FooMDB on Server_A (yeah).
              5.Stop Server_A.
              6.FooMDB running on Server_B connects automatically to Topic.
              7.Send messages - Messages are processed by FooMDB on Server_B (yeah).
              8.Start Server_A
              9.FooMDB successfully connects to Topic, even though FooMDB on Server_B is already connected (bad). Is this a WL bug or our config bug??
              10.Send messages - Messages are processed by both FooMDB on Server_A and Server_B (bad). Is this a WL bug or our config bug??
              Conclusion: Does anyone have any thoughts on the best design for that in our clustered environment? and if the above solution is doable, what mistake might we have made?
              Thank you in advance for your help!
              kb

    Thanks for the helpful info Tom.
              Kevin - It seems that for both the MDB, and the JMS provider, there are (manual or scripted) actions to be taken during any failure event + failure probes possibly required to launch these actions...?
              In the case of the JMS provider, the JMS destination needs to be migrated in the event of managed-server or host failure; if this host is the one that also runs the Admin server then the Admin server also needs to be restarted on a new host too, in order that it can become available to receive the migration instructions and thus update the config of the managed server which is to be newly targetted to serve the JMS destination.
              In the case of the MDB, a deployment action of some sort would need to take place on another managed-server, in the event of a failure of the managed server or the host, where the original MDB had been initally deployed.
              The JMS Destination migration actions can be totally avoided by the use of another JMS implementation which has a design philosophy of "failover" built into it (for example, Tibco EMS has totally automatic JMS failover features) and could be accessed gracefully by using Weblogic foreign JMS. The sinlge MDB deployed on one of the Weblogic managed servers in the cluster would still need some kind of (possibly scripted) redeployment action, and on top of this, there would need to be some kind of health check process to establish if this re-deployment action was actually required to be launched. It is possible that the logic and actions required just to establish the true functional health of this MDB could themsevles be as difficult as the original design requirement :-)
              All of this suggests that for the given requirement; the BEA environment is not well suited; and if no other environment or JMS provider is available at your site, then a manipulation of process itself may be required to enable it to be handled in a highly-available way which can be gracefully administered in a Weblogic cluster.
              We have not discussed the message payload design and the reasons that message order must be respected - by changing the message payload design and possibly adding additional data, this requirement "can", "in certain circumstances", be avoided.
              If you can't do that, I suggest you buy a 2 node Sun Cluster with shared HA storage and use this to monitor a simple JMS client java program that periodically checks for items on the Queue. The Tibco EMS servers could also be configured on this platform and give totally automatic failover protection for both process and host failure scenarios. With the spare money we can go to the pub.
              P.S. I don't work for Tibco or Sun and am a BIG Weblogic fan :-)

  • Convert from Evaluation Mode to Production (Cluster) Mode

    Is there any documentation on how you can convert a single server VDI 3 evaluation mode server, to a clustered VDI environment.
    Is it just doing a backup of the database in evaluation mode, and then doing a restore into the cluster once its up? Are there any other configuration files that need to be maintained as well?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Yes thats doable.
    While configuring multihost setup.Run vda-config on all hosts(1 Primary(once) and two secondary) .On one of the secondary host you may restore the data.
    In evaluation host
    Execute /opt/SUNWvda/mysql/bin/ndb_mgm
    at ndb_mgm prompt execute START BACKUP
    Check if a directory "BACKUP" got created at the location "/var/opt/SUNWvda/mysql-cluster
    Perform vda-conig -u,it should ask for restoring this backup
    Run vda-config on all hosts(1 Primary(once) and two secondary)
    Save the backup as /var/opt/SUNWvda/mysql-cluster/BACKUP in the secondary server.
    Execute /opt/SUNWvda/mysql/bin/ndb_restore -b <backup #> -n <nodeid #> -r - - backup_path=<path> on the same host.
    This should work.
    AFAIR there are some known issues here.So you may also want to have a look at

  • How to convert from single instance to RAC?

    Hi, I have one environment it is version is 10.2.0.4 in linux SUSE.
    I decided to move this environment to 10.2.0.4 Real applicaiton cluster has two nodes in linux red-hat.
    Firstly,
    I install 10.2.0.1 rac on two new machine in linux red hat.
    Then I upgrade my rac to 10.2.0.4 from 10.2.0.
    Now I want to move the single instance to RAC,
    Is there an anathoer way that different from export , import?

    Besides the obvious Export-Import which do not want to consider (although it would be the neatest method !), look the 4th conversion scenario under paragraph D.3.2 "Single-Instance to RAC Conversion Scenarios" at
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b14203/cvrt2rac.htm#BABFCAHF
    The 4th conversion scenario is "Converting a single-instance Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2) to an 10g Release 2 (10.2) RAC database, running out of a different Oracle home, and where the host where the single-instance database is running is not one of the nodes of the RAC database".

    Does it not play at all or cannot you get the audio in the timeline?
    Did you copy the entire card to the hdd and then imported the file via the Media Browser?
    Did you source patch the audio tracks?

    Hey vcomfort6,
    Please ensure that you are using Adobe Acrobat and not Reader to convert PDF file to word or excel.
    Could you tell me whether it is a scanned document? Does this happen with all PDFs or any specific one?
    Do you get any error message? What exactly happens when you try doing the same?
    Hope to hear from you.
