Convert picture imported to Word document with VBA

I've Word documents that contain acronyms and a macro that searches the document for them so that they can be identified for an acronym table. So far, I can search a document's text and tables but not the pictures with the macro. I've found that if
I manually select the picture, right click and select group->ungroup, I get a MsgBox with the message "This is an imported picture, not a group. Do you want to convert it to a Microsoft Office drawing object?" Selecting the yes button converts
it into many Shapes objects that are then searchable.
I've determined that the picture (object) type prior to conversion is msoPicture and that it gets converted to an msoCanvas object with many Shape objects on it.
I've built a macro that can loop through various Canvas objects and then the Shape objects to find the acronyms. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a way to convert the image/object from msoPicture to msoCanvas in VBA. Does anyone know how to do
this? Thanks.

Hi,
As far as I know, we can’t convert a picture to canvas through VBA.
For that process through the UI, I think it add the canvas first, then add the picture to that canvas.
For your requirement, you could add the canvas first, then add the picture to tat canvas.
Sub NewCanvasPicture()
Dim shpCanvas As Shape
'Add a drawing canvas to the active document
Set shpCanvas = ActiveDocument.Shapes _
.AddCanvas(Left:=100, Top:=75, _
Width:=200, Height:=300)
'Add a graphic to the drawing canvas
shpCanvas.CanvasItems.AddPicture _
FileName:="C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\" & _
"Office\Bitmaps\Styles\stone.bmp", _
LinkToFile:=False, SaveWithDocument:=True
End Sub

  • Convert 1 single microsoft word document with section breaks to multiple pdf files

I am a windows 7 users. I have a single microsoft word document which contain 1500 pages. These 1500 pages are seperated by sections breaks in the microsoft word. I am trying to convert this word document to multiple pdf files seperated by the section breaks in the Microsoft word. How can I convert the single microsoft word document with section breaks to multiple seperate pdf files?

Acrobat (Adobe PDF Printer and PDFMaker ) doesn't recognize the Section breaks.  It never has as far as I am aware.  The easiest thing to do is to manually break up a copy of the MS Word Document into the Sections you need and then create the PDFs from those MS Word documents.

  • I converted a PDF to Word Document with Barcodes #39 on them.  The barcodes didn't convert.  Why?  Is there anything I can do?

I converted a PDF to a Word Document with barcodes #39 on them.  The barcodes didn't convert?  Any ideas???

    Hey,
There might be a quality-specific issue as the conversion of PDF file comprising of barcode depends upon the quality of the document as well.
The better is the quality, more accurate can the file get converted to Word.

  • Cannot import a word document with Pictures into iWEB

I have a small word document that has embedded pictures included in the document when i try to copy it to a page in iWEB i get the text but no pictures, i assume this is because it has no media placeholder included and iWEB doesn't recognize the pictures and create Media Holders, how do i get round this?, when i try to overlay a picture directly onto the web page I cannot configure the WRAP Text in the text inspect panel, so the text and the pictures format looks clumsey
    Anyone any ideas?
    Thx

OK, but were are they saved? I have looked in the folder were the document is saved and there is nothing .....
I tried to Copy and Paste an image into the text box and yes at first glance it appears to be "in the Box" but on my system it is actually overlaying the text box, ie I cannot control the picture location from within the text box.
If you understand what I am trying to say

  • Importing Microsoft Word document with images to InDesign CS5

    Hey,
I'm trying to import a MS Word document that contains inline images to InDesign CS5.
I tried File->Place with checking "Import Inline Graphics" but unfortunately it imports the document without the images, there are blank regions where the images are suppose to be.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you,
    Kathy

Yes, aligning image on its own paragraph works, I will skip wraping text inside paragraph, this can be done inside InDesign. Here is one part of Internet PDF books I am talking about, both are in Serbian http://issuu.com/bojan_zivkovic/docs/prikazivanje_slika_u_adobe_photoshop_elements - word + indesign, http://www.scribd.com/doc/49583823/Nau%C4%8Dite-Adobe-Photoshop   - indesign only
Basicaly I am writing tutorials then turn them into PDF books, for now.
Thank you, I never try to insert image on its own paragraph.

  • Word document with picture JPEG

When I save a word document with a JPEG picture inserted to PDF the picture appears gray?

    Hi Martin,
Are you viewing that PDF in Adobe Reader or Acrobat (and what version)?
It sounds like you may have an option selected in the preferences that causes large images to appear as gray boxes. Please try this:
Choose Edit > Preferences (Windows) or Acrobat/Reader > Preferences (Mac OS).
Click the Page Display category on the left.
Select Show Large Images, and then click OK.
    Did that do the trick?

  • Importing Word Documents with Images

Hi, When I import word document in to Robohelp, it imports
the images also. Now, I have duplicate images in multiple topics.
How do I avoid duplicate images being imported? Is there anyway,
where I can collate and store all the images in a single folder,
instead of saving it in multiple folders?

You're right. One reason this plan never came to fruition is
because this doesn't take a lot of time.
When I first came aboard, I envisioned a lot of importing of
Word documents where each change was done to a Word doc (complete
with macros and useful AutoText) and then imported into RoboHelp.
Then, a global search would take care of the image problem. But
that isn't really our MO, so this never happened.
Although, it's a great way to create a new project. Author
your Word documents with meaningful characters to represent each
icon. Then when you import everything, just include the graphic
once and then do a global search.

Problems converting PDF to MS Word document.  I successfully converted 4 files and now subsequent files generate a "conversion failure" error when attempting to convert the file.  I have a large manuscript and I separated each chapter to assist with the conversion; like I said, first 4 parts no problem, then conversion failure.  I attempted to convert the entire document and same result.  I specifically purchased the export to Word feature.  Please assist.  I initially had to export the Word Perfect document into PDF and attempting to go from PDF to MS Word.

    Hi sdr2014,
I'm sorry to hear your conversion process has stalled. It sounds as though the problem isn't specific to one file, as you've been unable to convert anything since the first four chapters converted successfully.
    So, let's try this:
If you're converting via the ExportPDF website, please log out, clear the browser cache, and then log back in. If you're using Reader, please choose Help > Check for Updates to make sure that you have the most current version installed.
Please let us know how it goes.
    Best,

  • Help with converting PDF file to word document

I uploaded a PDF file, how do I convert it to a word document? Screen is not giving me options.

  • Problem importing Word document with TOC

I am trying to import a Word document containing a table of contents into Pages. The TOC does not appear at all and I get a box saying: "The table of contents is empty because none of the paragraph styles selected in the Document Inspector are used in the document". The TOC style in the original Word document is a hyperlink.
    Any help appreciated,

    Pages 2.0.2

I'm on Windows right now, but I will try answering anyhow. Forgive me for being foggy.
If the the document complains that the styles are wrong, that is probably where the problem is. Somewhere in Pages there should be a setting to choose which styles to use for building a table of contents. You should try to change those settings to match the style names used in the Word document.
A possible source of error here is if you use Pages in another language than the Word document. Let's say the Word document uses the German word "Titel" for Header 1 and you run Pages in French, which expects something like "Titre". It is then possible that Pages cannot recreate the table of context, unless you tell it that it should built it from the styles called Titel.

  • When I want to download anything even pdf's it automatically converts it to a word document, so I cannot even see the documents, pictures, forms or anything. Thank you

When downloading anything Firefox downloads it as a word document causing the document to appear as letter and numbers without sense. Firefox has done it for all documents that as pdf's are in a site, so I can not save them or downloaded, but not even read them.

When downloaded Adobe reader, a Fire Fox down loader window appeared and after several minutes a message said that it was downloaded, but a run window never appeared, so I clicked on the program (on that little fire fox downloader window) and it opened a word document with encoded letter. AGAIN!

  • Importing the word document in RoboHelp

    Hi,
I am importing a word document into Robohelp 7 HTML. But after the import is completed, the entire word document is converted into a single HTML page. My requirement is that each chapter should be created into seperate HTML file based on the heading level. This will help in creating the book based on the heading level. I was able to do this task successfully with RoboHelp X5 but not with any other higher versions!!!!!

    Hi there
The key to this is to ensure the Word document has been styled consistently with headings and other formatting. If it's one of the garden variety where folks just painted across text all willy nilly you will indeed see mixed results.
Pay careful attention to the intermediate dialogs you see when importing the document. The second one should offer a way to split on style.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Importing a word-document to RH11 for output as WebHelp (Image-Quality)

    Hello guys,
i have a problem with importing word-documents to RH11. It is not a problem with the process itself, but with the settings. After importing the documents to RH11 the image quality is absolutly messed up. The resolution is not even half of the original and its blurry. It seems to be that RH11 only takes a "screenshot" of the picture within the word document instead of importing the original high quality image.
I am generating a manual and therefor im going to export the project as WebHelp Pro. My inconvinient solution is to export the high quality images from the word document manually and replace the messy pictures in the WebHelpPro folders. As you can imagin this is going to take a lot of time and resources while the project is getting bigger.
    Hopefully you can help me.
Best regards from Germany and please pardon my English :-)

So you are putting the image into Rh at 100% and then shrinking it there, correct?
    How are you shrinking it?
If you are going to Image Properties and resizing there, you will get poorer results.
Go to View > Pods > Tools > ReSize and you will get better results.
    Or use SnagIt.

  • Importing Microsoft word documents that already have paragraph styles

Hello. I have been trying to figure out how to do this for months, this was taught to me many months ago but for some odd reason when I tried it myself it didn't work . I have my paragraph styles all set up in my indesign document. I have to import text that another person is giving me. The document that this person is giving me is a Microsoft word document. Someone showed me that you can customize the document in microsoft word, with styles for example: Selecting a part of text and customizing it (making it big and bold for example), then naming that style Heading, and then doing the same for lets say...a subheading. Well after you save the document (the microsoft word document), you are able to import the word document into your indesign file and it's supposed to override the styles from Microsoft Word and customize itself with your own paragraph or character styles that you already have in your indesign document, as long as the name of the styles are the same as the ones you had in microsoft word(which in this case would be heading and subheading). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Convert Word styles to InDesign styles
Here's the info you need. I found it in the InDesign Help section. I needed it, too. The "Show Import Options" is a little box in the lower left hand corner of the screen that comes up when you choose the file you want to place in InDesign. It's easy to miss.
While importing a Microsoft Word document into InDesign or InCopy, you can map each style used in Word to a corresponding style in InDesign or InCopy. By doing so, you specify which styles format the imported text. A disk icon appears next to each imported Word style until you edit the style in InDesign or InCopy.
    Do one of the following:
To add the Word document to existing text in InDesign or InCopy, choose File > Place. Select Show Import Options, and then double-click the Word document.
To open the Word document in a stand-alone InCopy document, start InCopy, choose File > Open, and then double-click the Word file.
Select Preserve Styles and Formatting From Text and Tables.
Select Customized Style Import, and then click Style Mapping.
In the Style Mapping dialog box, select the Word style, and then select an option from the menu under InDesign style. You can choose the following options:
If there is no style name conflict, choose New Paragraph Style, New Character Style, or choose an existing InDesign style.
If there is a style name conflict, choose Redefine InDesign Style to format the imported style text with the Word style. Choose an existing InDesign style to format the imported style text with the InDesign style. Choose Auto Rename to rename the Word style.
Click OK to close the Style Mapping dialog box, and then click OK to import the document.
