Converted document won't display in .doc or .docx

I just purchased the Adobe conversion - when I convert my PDF to a .doc or .docx, when I try to open it, the display is a dot "."  So far I think it's useless.  Help!

Hmm. Try opening the program in another user account (create one if necessary) and see if things change. You may also want to contact Adobe and see if they have any suggestions.

  • Dreamweaver 8 won't display long docs

I update an online catalog and usually start with one very
long HTML document -- nothing fancy, no tags except <P> --
but I've got about 3000 paragraphs of one line each in that
document, which I use to cut and paste updates to other html docs.
The problem is, Dreamweaver 8 won't show me more than the first 600
lines or so of my 3000+ line document; if I continue to scroll the
document after that, all I see is lots and lots of blank/white
space. This wasn't a problem in earlier versions of Dreamweaver,
which would display the entire document just fine. I've encounted
this same problem on a Powerbook G4 with 2 GB of RAM, as well as on
a newer Intel MacBook Pro. Anybody else experience this? Anybody
know a cure? I know all of the document is there -- I can open it
and see every line in a browser. (I suppose I could find and
reinstall Dreamweaver MX, or break down my long doc into five or
six separate ones, but either choice would be a pain at this
    point.)

Try setting your zoom setting to 90% and see if that
    helps....

  • Document won't display

    Hello!
I have successfully linked my movies together and have
    published as a Flash File.
This gives me a html, and html full screen and a .swf file.
I am putting the html full screen on my site but . . .
When I get to the slide where the user clicks the button to
open a document (a .pdf in this instance), it does not come up.
BUT, when I am testing the movie in Captivate by playing the
movie, the button works, the document opens, and everything is
    fine.
What's the difference in the hmtl full screen option when I
    actually publish to my website?
    Thanks

    Hi Newsletters
Typically you will want the .PDF in the same location as the
.SWF. Did you ensure you copied it as well?
    Cheers... Rick

  • I can not open a file that has been converted from a PDF to a .doc.  I have a one year subscription to PDF Pack.

I click on the tool to convert my pdf file to a .doc file.  When the program writes it is finished and I can down load the document, I do so.  Even though the converted file is listed as a .doc or docx, neither Microsoft Word nor OpenOffice can open it.  What is going wrong?
I also click to be able to edit my pdf document, but no commands to edit it come up.  Am I doing something wrong?

    Hi ktewksbu,
I don't think you're doing anything wrong. What is the file size of the converted document (and the filename extension)? Do you have the same issue with any file that you try to convert? Or is the problem specific to one file?
As for editing a PDF file, that requires Acrobat. (Adobe Reader lets you comment on a PDF, but  not alter its content).

  • Layered text and graphic in Word won't display when converted to PDF

I have several simple shapes with text layered in front in my Word document. After they are converted to PDF using Acrobat XI, only the shape will display. I can tell the text is still there, because I can use my cursor tool to select it, but it won't display visually. It looks like it isn't there but it really is. One bit of text is even an internal link, and the link still works but I can't see the text I'm clicking on.
If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it.
    Thank you,

Hi Lori - this was perfect! It was an issue with the layers being misordered. I used the Edit Text & Images tool listed under Tools > Content Editing, found the layers, then by right-clicking I was able to bring the text to the front and it all looks great now.
I would like to know why this happened, or if not why, how I could make sure it doesn't happen again. If there's a check box or other setting I could use to remove this problem that would be fantastic.
Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction!

  • I am converting a PDF to a Word Doc and it is not converting our logo or any handwritten notes to the new document

I am trying to convert a PDF to a Word Document.  I have only recently started using this item so I am not sure what I am doing wrong.  When the PDF document is converted to the Word doc it is not converting any symbols, logos or handwritten items.  For example I have a sign letter of intent with a signature that I am trying to convert from a PDF to a word document and the signature does not appear on the word doc.

    Hi judyf73891847,
I don't think you're doing anything wrong. I'm not surprised that ExportPDF is having a hard time converting handwriting. One option is to disable OCR as described in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (O... | Adobe Community. Then, ExportPDF won't try to convert those elements into editable text. The only drawback to that is that you won't be able to edit those items when you open the converted document in Word.

  • When I convert a PDF to a Word doc, it "converts" as a picture and I cannot edit the document. What can I do to get the PDF to convert properly?

When I convert a PDF to a Word doc, it "converts" as a picture and I cannot edit the document. What can I do to get the PDF to convert properly?

    Hi conversionnewbie,
Are you able to select the text in Word by triple-clicking inside the text box? (Sometimes text selections can be tricky in converted files.) If you can't select the text, then I'm guessing that the PDF was created from a scanned file (so the text becomes images). Make sure that OCR is enabled when you convert the file to Word. OCR is enabled by default in the ExportPDF web interface, but can be disabled in Adobe Reader. If you're converting to Word from within Adobe Reader, make sure that OCR is enabled and that the correct language is selected:
Please let us know that works for you!

  • Force word to convert doc to docx wen document is open

    Hi,
In my compagny we have install office 2013, we where in word 2003 before.
I'd like to configure word 2013 in order to force doc converting in docx format.
    Is it possible ?
    Is there a GPO ?
    Thank for your answers.
    Regard

I am not familiar with there being a GPO for that but you could accomplish it with a VBA.
    Sub AutoOpen()
    If Right(ActiveDocument.Name, 1) = "c" Then
    ActiveDocument.Convert
    ActiveDocument.Save 'optional
    End If
    End Sub
Put this into a Global template (MyConvert.dotm for example) and add it to Word's startup folder on each machine.
Be aware there are risks with converting documents, and in particular with documents that contain tables. The cells in table contained within the document will change width by an amount measured in the hundredths of an inch. However, even though change size
is small it will effect column alignment if you edit the tables later by adding rows to the end of the table or splitting the table and then adding additional rows.
Personally, I consider this a serious bug as it also happens in XML based documents that were created with earlier versions of Microsoft Word (2010, 2007, and even 2011 for the Mac). When those earlier XML documents are moved to 2013, they are considered
to be in compatibility mode also.
Try a simple test yourself. Start a new document using Word 2010 or 2007 and add a single 3 X 1 table row, From the table properties dialog note the width of the 3 cells then save and close the file. You can save it as either a doc or docx format. Now open
the document with Word 2013 and verify that it's in compatibility mode and check the table cell widths. Now convert the document (File > Convert Document) and check the table cell widths. They will have changed. Now add a row to the the table by selecting
the open paragraph immediately following the table and choose Insert > Table >3 x 1.
The columns don't align do they? Attempting to get them back in alignment is not a lot of fun either, especially if the table is large.
I am trying to get Microsoft to do something about this problem but can use additional voices if you think this is as serious of an issue as I do.

  • Pages won't open doc or docx documents

I am a professor and my students upload papers to a LMS either as a doc or docx. I then download them and open them in Pages. Suddenly I am no longer able to open any documents in Pages. Can someone please

Yes, I can open Pages and create a new document. I can also open documents I created and saved in Pages. I cannot open documents my students create (presumably in MS Word) anymore. I am using Pages Version 5.5.2(2120). I did not recently update Pages and as far as I know the App Store didn't automatically update Pages.  I have tried restarting the iMac and my Laptop.
Based on other forums advice, I am in the process of uninstalling Pages, emptying the trash can (which seems to be a whole other issue since I started this process about 18 hours ago and the trash is still emptying), and was going to reinstall Pages after the trash empties.
Anything at this point will be helpful because I have papers that need grading. I cannot open doc or docx on neither my iMac or Macbook Pro.

  • PDF files won't display. Error message "Missing Plug-ins"

Hello. I am having trouble with adobe reader but only certain files. When I first signed up for school in may Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Reader were required and when I did the check plug-ins system check, both were installed and running just fine. Just in the past 2 days is the check plug-ins test saying Adobe reader is not installed. I have tried un-installing and re-installing but still saying it is not installed. I'm not having troubl with all adobe reader files. I'm an online student and my e-books are opening and displaying just fine. Also my pdf documents saved on my computer are opening just fine. When I try to view a websites brochure, a websites sale paper, or maybe open up an article, the page pops up but the image won't display. It keeps saying "missing Plug-ins". I have a MAC 10.6.8. running on Safari and I have downloaded Adobe Reader 10.1.0. I need to be able to open up articles because I'm doing a homework assignment that requires one. If u can help in any way, please do.

I've tried all the fixes listed in the discussions about missing plug-ins in Mail.  None of them worked.  I can see attachements in the emails, but when I forward them, the missing plug-in shows up in place of the attachments on the forwarded email.  I'm running the latest OS 10.7 on my Mac Pro and I just downloaded the latest Java app.  HELP!!

  • CS4 Live View Won't Display External CSS

I have a simple .html file - all located on my local machine
with an external .css file located in the same folder as the .html
file. Everything displays fine in a browser. Live View won't
display items in my external css file. It displays items in the
inline file fine. If I move items from the external to the inline
file they will appear. Links are relative to the Document in the
site setup. No default images folder defined (images are in a
    folder called "images").
I know it's something simple and dunderheaded. Just getting
back into html after a little hiatus. Any help greatly
    appreciated.

    > If this is a static site, ignore the Live View button.
    > Test it in browsers using F12.
Live view will work fine in a static site, though.

  • JPG won't display in Image box.

Trying to add a logo in JPG format to the top of the form using the Image control, but it won't display the image nor print it. If I use a GIF file it works fine, but looks horrible. I'm new at this, any ideas?

I finally figured it out after posting another frustrating comment to this thread. I can't take the credit, however, as it was quickly solved by Irv Kanode in another thread. I have copied his exact post below. It solved this issue in seconds:

Check some of your JPEGs for CMYK vs RGB.
Might the ones that fail be CMYK and the ones that work be RGB?
When images don't work are you seeing a broken image icon or...?

    Irv,
Thanks for the reply. The images that didn't work were CMYK. When I converted to RGB they worked.
The images that didn't work were coming up with random grey scale colors.
    Thanks again,

  • How does convert document to working cmyk after adjusting in profile mismatch dialog box?

When there`s a profile or policy mismatch dialog box here, there`s an option about adjust the document to match current colour settings. But when the assign profile doesn`t match the working space, the check box of "convert document to working cmyk after adjusting"can choose.
But question come out, when I check the box,I find the profile auto turn to working cmyk profile, there`s nothing to do with the assigned profile I chosen.
So when to choose this option?why not directly choose the working cmyk profile?
some more questions.about the "placed content"option,I`m not quite catch the meaning of the options.such as "keep existing assignments"."disable all profiles"."enable all profiles".Can anybody answer me?

If I make a document with Color Settings' CMYK policy set to Off like this:
Save and close the doc then change Color Settings to this:
When I open the document the mismatch dialog tells me the document has no profile assigned while the current policy is set to preserve (the Off policy meant no profile got assigned).
Clicking Adjust... lets me change the document's policy from Off to the current Preserve Embedded and choose the profile I want to assign which can be any available CMYK profile including the current working space.
A document's profile assignments can also be changed via Edit>Assign Profiles..., but the document's policy can only be changed from the Mismatch dialog
If I click Adust... the profile I choose from Assign Profile is now the document's profile:
Which is confirmed when I open Edit>Assign Profiles...
