Converting documents from word

Today, for the first time, when I attempted to convert a word document, I got this error message:  "missing PDF maker files:  Do you want to run the installer in repair mode?:  When I clicked on yes, it downloaded for 8 to 10 minutes, but nothing changed.  I am new to this community and am not terribly adept on computers.   Can anyone help me?

At first it sounded like it is a feature that had been working and just quit. However, if you have upgraded WORD, it is likely that your Acrobat is no longer compatible. You did not indicate the verions of WORD or Acrobat as well as the version of Windows, so it is hard to tell what the problem may be. Some of the WORD updates have also been known to turn off the PDF Maker macro (add in) in WORD. In the latter case, you simply need to activate it.

    Word documents don't have a fixed page layout; Word reflows freely if it wants. This isn't normally a problem unless things like typing page numbers is done; avoid that.

    I can't say, but if that's the answer, trying to get it fixed might be impossible. Instead, I'd suggest compressing your attachments to create a .zip file. Decompression at the other end would take no time, and if the server changes the attachment's file type, just change it back to .zip.

  • Save document from word into sharepoint library does not work !

    Hi,
    I'm trying to resolve a problem that i have with word and my sharepoint website.
    Some of my users have to open and RDP session on a windows 2008 server and work from there. They open their session with their credential and they do everything they do in local on sharepoint using IE.
    BUT, we have always and ever had an issue on this server as they c'ant save a document (Word or Excel) from office. They have to upload it from sharepoint uising IE. In example, i want to save my document from word into the sharepoint document library I  have
    this error message :
    "Windows doesn't find (http://intranet.sharepoint.com/DocumentLibrary/). Check and retry".
    If I open my sharepoint site and i upload the document it works perfectly. Also if I open and edit an existing document from any library it will work with word. The problem seems to happen when i want to browse sharepoint from word for saving files...
    As this server is a windows 2008, IE version is 9 and the office version is the same as on all computers (Office 2010 SP2 32Bit)
    Any help would by appreciated

    Hi,
    I understand you encountered the issue when save document from Office client application to SharePoint 2010 site.
    Is there any Proxy settings in networking side? Please bring up IE > Internet options > Connections > Lan settings. If so, please uncheck options in Proxy server and test the issue again.
    If you have deploy GPO to add SharePoint site into Trusted sites, please check if there is any other GP associated with trusted sites that might affect the issue. You could also remove it from Trusted sites via IE options and test the issue again.
    In addition, please provide more error message to help narrow down the issue, you could locate error information in Event log at least.

  • Importing a document from Word.  How do I change the tabs for the whole document?

    I am new to pages.  In importing a document from Word, the tabs are all messed.  The help topics work fine for adding/changing tabs... only it applies to a single line.  I cannot locate info on how to change the settings for the document.  Any help?

    A set of Tab stops applies to a Paragraph (not a line). A change in stops will apply to all paragraphs selected. A good way to make all your paragraph styles the same is to set up one paragraph the way you want it, then Format > Copy Paragraph Style. Then Select the entire document (Command-A) and Format > Paste Paragraph Style.
    Shortcuts for Copy Paragraph Style and Paste Paragraph Style are Shift-Command-C and Shift-Command-V.

    Hi Everyone,
    Is there a way to save a converted document from a previous version of InDesign with the same name WITHOUT the save confirmation dialog box? By a converted document, I mean that when you open a version from CS6 for example the document tab shows [Converted], and will automatically prompt with a Save Dialog when saving. I've parsed over all Preferences but may have possibly overlooked something.

    There's a droplet and script panel version in the zip archive. It copies the chosen folder's ID files older than version 10 into an Archive subfolder then updates the files. Depending on the file size it can take some time—there's a done dialog when it completes. I would test it a few times to make sure it does what you expect.

    In converting a two page chart from Word for Mac to Pages, only page 1 converts. But because of the way I built the chart, I can't cut and paste one page at a time from Word and then convert. Word insists on selecting both pages. Anyone have an idea short of redoing the chart from scratch in Pages?

    I'm not sure I follow you. Did you try copying the data from the chart in Word and paste it into the chart editor for a new chart in Pages?

    You can use the ExportPDF online service or Adobe Acrobat to convert a PDF document to Word format. If you choose to use ExportPDF, please see Getting Started with ExportPDF | Adobe Community. If you opt for Acrobat, you choose File > Save as Other > Microsoft Word > Word Document.

    We need to translate documents, generally from Frenchy to English and have tried converting the French document to a Word Document but this does not work.  Have you considered a program that would allow for these conversionts just a Google Translate will do.  But I can't copy and paste a Pdf document to Google Translate.

    Many translators (professional translators) have tried to work with PDF files to translate. Most have failed because of the huge difficulties of working with different text length in fixed page sizes. So the chances of an automatic program doing an acceptable job is low.
    You can copy/paste the text from a PDF for translation.

    I'd like to know how to copy a picture from a word document and convert it to a .jpg format so I can use iphoto or other image software to edit and print it.  I tried a work-around that's not very satisfactory, that is to print the picture on photo paper, then scan it and save it as a .jpg, but as you would expect, I lose quality.

    Why don't you just use a Word converter to render and convert  Word document and the images cotained in Word file into jpeg image directly? Saving the Word file cotaining pictures as pdf and save as jpeg is more complicate converting the word file into jpeg image directly.

    How did you convert the .doc file to .docx file? Did you get any error message?
    To convert the .doc file to .docx, just open it with Word 2013, then click
    FILE tab -> Save As -> choose the path where you want it to be saved, click
    Browse -> Beside Save as type, choose
    Word Document (*.docx), enter the File name, click Save.

    Hello All,
    I have this problem that is driving me nuts. I am working with Word 2002 and Acrobat 7 Pro.
    When I create internal links within the word document (terms linked to the glossary) and PDF using the PDF toolbar (change settings to include bookmarks and links, no security). The PDF only converts some of the links, and it is never consistent. My co-worker has the same problem, but her links that don't come in vary from mine (word 2003 acrobat 7).
    This doesn't happen to all documents with links, the website links work perfectly.
    Any ideas?

    I created the links in word, pressed the PDF Maker ("Adobe PDF" Button on toolbar), changed conversion settings: Standard, (all check but "Attach source file to PDF"), Security None, Word Tab (all checked but "Convert displayed comments to notes in the PDF"), Bookmarks were selected, clicked OK, clicked "Convert to PDF."
    If you look at my original post, I attached screenshots of the PDF Maker dialog box.

    You need to convert Word documents to PDF.  You can do that in various ways:
    use Microsoft Word 2007+ and save it as PDF
    use the PDF Pack online service
    use Adobe Acrobat
