Converting files for CS3

I was given a JVC Everio HD camera recently and didn't realise until now that downloading the files is in a a format that Premiere Pro CS3 doesn't recognise(.MOD). I have a file converter but when I convert a file to an avi it looks more like 4:3 instead of the widescreen it was recored as.
That being the case is there a format you would recommend I convert to that is still high quality but yet will leave me with a file that looks like the original 16:9
in CS3?
Many Thanks

you might have missed this info following the threads mentioned above...
For a variety of reasons, MOD  files from JVC Everio camcorders can be challenging for many video  editors, including Premiere Elements, to work with.
Forum  member MarkItVision offers his best solution for making the files easier  to edit.
Using CyberLink Power Director Express - a  program which comes bundled with the camcorder - capture the video and  then place it on the timeline. Then go to File>Produce Movie and at  "step 1" select "create a file"
Change the settings as  shown to Type II and High Quality 48k. Change settings by clicking on  the button two over from the one labeled CLVS and you can confirm the  audio is PCM using the button to the right of it.
Follow the arrow "right" and give your file a  name and location It will output the AVI as a DV-AVI Type II 48kHz PCM.
Import  this file into a Premiere Elements project. The program should work  easily with it.
To conform your video file for widescreen,  drag it to the timeline, right-click on it and set it to "interpret  footage as D1/DV PAL (or NTSC) Widescreen 16:9 (1.422)".
thats for SD....  which you might consider , as you may not have a computer powerful enough to edit HD if you convert UP to decompressed HD footage from that camera...

  • Can Indesign CS5 convert files for use on Kindle?

    Hello,
Have any of you converted books for use on Kindle, and if so, how did you do it, and did it go smoothly? Please explain in "dummies" terms, as I find this topic to be very confusing.
If I convert files to ePub format in Ind. CS5, is this all I need to do to convert it to a format that can be used on a Kindle reader? Would this work for graphics as well as text?
Internet searches about this gave info for an older version, CS4, and seemed to require using supplemental software to successfully convert to Kindle format.
    Thanks for any advice.
    L

Yes, going to EPUB and then Kindle seems to be the best route.
    A few suggestions.
    1.       Upgrade to CS6. EPUB capabilities have been dramatically improved.
    2.       Buy some good books EPUB. I suggest these two Liz Castro’s books for a start: http://amzn.to/LI9Q5b and  http://amzn.to/LIa38o
    3.       Visit Liz’s blog: http://www.pigsgourdsandwikis.com/
    4.       Check out Ann Marie Concepcion’s excellent Lynda.com titles. This link will get you a one week trial: http://bit.ly/fcGpiI
Finally, you need to get at least a beginner’s grasp of HTML and CSS. Without that, quite frankly, you’re screwed.

  • Need ideas on best ways to convert files for best use on iPad

    Greetings,
As a tech geek that now has an iPad, I am looking for ways to improve the way I perform daily work functions through using the iPad vice a laptop. I am a regional service manager, and as such spend a lot of time on the road. I am hoping the iPad can make that travel easier.
I've already purchased programs such as Documents to Go, Print Central, Keynote, and PDF Expert. I even looked at ServiceMax.
Here is my issue. Currently, our service reports, inspection checklists, and parts ordering forms are all part of one ugly excel file that is 1MB in size and loaded with complicated formulas and macros. I know, having read some in these forums that the macros don't convert well, if at all. I also see that some PDF forms have issues.
ServiceMax was ideal, but it only interfaces with Salesforce.com and not Oracle, which is what we use.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a similar APP to ServiceMax, or an app/program that will allow me to custom create service reports that I and my team can utilize?
    Thanks in advance!

  • How do I down save an Illustrator 6 file for CS3 and CS4?

We save illustrator files to a windows network, No problems so far opening between the different versions.  But now we are getting errors like can't open illustration.  The file is locked or in use.  ID = 54.  I have tested the suggestions where you save the file in illustrator and then select the version to downsave to, however this does not work.  Also the downsave is from Creative Cloud 6 to CS3 or CS4. CC6 is installed on an i-Mac 10.9.2, CS3 and 4 installed on Mac 10.5.8.

Why do you need to "savw" the audio files? Whatever edits you make will replace the old audio file with the new edits. Just do what you need to do to the audio and the corresponding file in your folder will be changed accordingly. If you DO need to save for some reason, When you "save as" simply save as the same name and it will replace the old one.
Work as you usually do, and then every now and then, go to the audio window and choose "select unused audio" in the edit menu. Then hit the delet button! Anything not being used in the arrangement will be deleted.
Read about the Project manager. It will delete any unused audio files from the folder you are working in and consolidate all files, samples, etc. It's worth learning.
    Good luck!

  • Using MPEG Streamclip to convert files for EX-1 sequence

I am trying to use MPEG Streamclip to convert mp4 and mpeg files in order to edit them in the same sequence as my EX-1 footage. What settings should I use on MPEG Streamclip that would be most appropriate for seamlessly editing the former MPEG and mp4 files with the EX-1 footage? Any thoughts on what sequence settings I should use? Right now I have it set as "XDCam Ex 1080p24 VBR" but every time I bring in files I have tried to convert using MPEG Streamclip, they need to render and I'm trying to avoid that. Thanks!

  • How to convert files for use in iMovie?

I have ripped some home movie footage from DVD using mactheripper to my harddrive.

.. then, you shouldn't stroll around in the outer rims of the iNet, looking for MTR.. , this app is mostly intended for distracting copy protection from commercial dvds...
    give that app a try:
DVDxDV (free trial, 25$, Pro: 90$)
legal, handy, very Mac-like in usage... plus a free trial, you can test, how it works for you....
    just to mention that:

  • I need to find a mac media set or files for cs3 production premium

My school bought a site license for production premium cs3 and we think a student stole the mac media set. I contacted customer support and they said that they couldn't help us because the version is to old, they instructed me to ask on this forum. Does anyone have a Mac media set of cs3 production premium they could burn and send me or can someone ftp me the files.

If Adobe Customer Support cannot help you, then there is little that we users can do. It would be illegal to copy any of our Adobe programs to disc and send them out.
You might want to look at ProDesign Tools, and see if they have perhaps a download version of PrPro CS3 in their links (think they are all the "trial versions," and those would not help before CS 5, IIRC, as it can be upgraded from trial to full-paid with the insertion of the S/N).
If you only talked to Technical Support, I would contact Customer Support, which is more geared to sales aspects, than T/S.
    Good luck,

  • Converting files for AutoDesk Showcase

I've been asked to convert AI files to be used as decal wraps for STEP files in AutoDesk Showcase. Although I'm very familiar with Illustrator, I have nev used AutoDesk Showcase. If anyone can provide some tips on how to do this, I'd very much appreciate it.

A decal is a texture... It may be possible that they allow their own DWG/ DXF/ DWF formats and even legacy AI and PDF and rasterize it dynamically, but I would think that it should be sufficient to export a raster image at suitable sizes. the point here being, that no doubt it wil lbe handled through the graphics card with hardware acceleration and simpler, pre-rasterized graphics would no doubt be preferred. Jumping hoops to export to a vector file from AI seems unnecessary as does trying to use a 3D file format. Anyway, why not ask on their forums? I'm sure you can find someone knowledgeable there who can help further. I never bother much with Autodesk's trial versions as I find their agressive licensing system equally as annoying as Adobe's and prefer to keep my systems clean, so I can't provide first-hand guidance, but it should be easy enough...

  • Illustrator cs6 problem converting files for the web

I have designed some simple logos in Illustrator CS6 and want to convert the .ai files to appear on a website, but when I use the Save for Web function and preview the GIFs or PNG-8s I created they are blurred and not a good enough quality, even when viewed at actual size. I realise there will be differences between the vector graphics of Illustrator and the pixel images on a desktop website, but these are more than just a minimal adjustment - they look out of focus. Am I doing something wrong? Am I creating Illustrator files that are too large or too small? Or am I converting the artwork into GIF or PNG-8 files that are the wrong size or format? I have searched the forums and web for a solution but found nothing on this. Any help would be much appreciated.

    na,
Have you ticked one of the optimizing options hidden away in the Image Size window?
Have you considered PNG24 with richer colours?

  • Converting Files for Non-Designers

    Good Morning All,
I am the graphic designer for my company, so most of the important documents are passed through me before sending out to others. Usually I just design the thing 100% and make changes/updates to it as needed.
However, we've hit a roadblock with a project where that won't work. One of my co-workers needs a layout for a book that will be sent to multiple people. Done. Some of the pages in the book are permanent and will not change, some others have to be customized to who is receiving them. The amount of work needed to customize each page is too much for me to do on top of my other work, so we need to figure out a way where he can take the skeleton I've made and write up the text himself.
    Things we've tried:
Exporting my ID file to PDF, having him bring it into Word. He can set the pages to a full page watermark, but it's obviously less opaque than the permanent pages.
Bringing the PDF (exported from ID) into Adobe Acrobat and converting it into a Word document. It comes out really messed up- blank pages, shapes and words in wrong spots, no bueno.
Exporting the ID file as a jpeg and have him bring it into paint. He can add text boxes and such but cannot format the text to the rest of the book.
He has a PC with Microsoft Office and the standard fixins that come along with that. Any suggestions how we can work this out? Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for your answers.
SRiegel- I tried your suggestion, but couldn't set the margins to 0, it wouldn't let me. I got them to a minimum of .1, but the page I've made has a few things flush to the left so it wasn't quite right. I strecthed the page to fit somehow in spite of the margin rule and it looks pretty good. It just feels like I'm doing something wrong since it wasn't so straight forward. I guess I'm apprehensive that each page might come out a little off since it was so much trial and error to get it right.
Peter- I looked up InCopy, at it seems to be just what I need. Unfortunately my boss isn't keen on buying anyone new programs.
I am the only one who uses InDesign, so there should be a couple more serial codes from when they bought the program. We asked if my co-worker could get the program on his computer so he could do all of the body copy himself (which should have cost them nothing) and the suggestion was shot down.
It is what it is, I suppose. Thanks again for the help.

  • Anyone with CS4 that can convert a file to CS3 for me?

    Hey All,
I'm using cs5.5 to design something for work, however my work uses cs3.... i only just learned that indesign isn't backwards compatible. Any chance anyone with cs4 can export to a cs3 file for me?

InDesign is not forwards compatible: any version of it cannot read files created with newer ones.
That's nothing to be amazed about. Most software is not forwards compatible, I only know of one exception, and that is Microsoft Word.
InDesign is backwards compatible all the way to CS (v.3) at least -- the modern vsns of InDesign should still be able to read those files.
