Converting from NUMC field in R/3 into CHAR field on BW

Hi all,
We have a field (COST) which is defined as NUMC 6 with DECIMAL 2 like12.50 in R/3. I want to receive it into CHAR field on BW side.
What is the simplest way to convert it, please. What should be the CHAR length in BW?

Hi Venkat,
I don't have any sample code for this. You will create one local variable in the trasnfer routine. Accept the NUMC value in that local variable and then assign that local variable to the final destination i.e. to CHAR InfoObject.

Hi Venkat,
Create a character infoobject of length 18. Include the infoobject in your data target and map the key figure value to the character infoobject by writting the following update routine for the character infoobject.
Result = comm_structure-xxxxxx (xxxxxx = key figure infoobject you want to map for example say comm_structure-net_price if key figure is 0net_price)

Data read from text file(notepad) not enterd into particular field

Hi frends, I have used function "F4_FILENAME" and "GUI_UPLOAD" to upload a text file in notepad on my desktop to an internal table in SAP.after that i used the folowing code line to copy data from one table to other:
" insert tab2 from table itab accepting duplicate keys. "
But my problem is that in tab2 i have total 5 fields.In notepad file i have written following two words:
achal
mehra
now when i copy the data from itab to tab2 , it shows word "achal" in the field 1 of 1st row and "mehra" in field 1 of 2nd row only.
what i want is to store "a" in field1 "c" in field2 and so on in row 1.
similarly "m" in the second row and field1.

I take it by the errror messages produced I'm not able to do this..

Caused by: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: <Line 13, Column 20>: XML-20201: (Fatal Error) Expected name instead of |.
So how can I acheive putting several fields into one like you can in SQL?

How could I Write data into a field in Oracle whose data type is VARCHAR2

The target data I want to write into Oracle is in http://tw.yahoo.com/info/utos.html.
Now, these data is stored in Mysql database and the field which stores these data uses "Text" as its data type.
I want to derive these data from mysql database and store them into a field of oracle database.
In oracle, I create field whose data type is varchar2(4000) to store these data.
I use JSP to derive data from mysql and insert into oracle through JDBC.
But the result of the page shows me that "javax.servlet.ServletException: Data size bigger than max size for this type: 25623".
Please anyone could help to resolve this problem?

My hunch is that the problem is that VARCHAR2(4000), but default, allocates 4000 bytes of storage. Depending on your database character set, a single character may require up to 4 bytes of storage.
If you are on 9i, you can declare the column VARCHAR2(4000 CHAR) to allocate 4000 characters of storage. You can also set NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS to CHAR, which will cause Oracle to assume that your declarations are in characters rather than bytes.

FRM-47032 : when converting from forms6i to forms10g

Hello,
There is a weird error I get when I execute a form that I have converted from forms6i (in a 8i db) into forms10g
There is no pb when I execute de form in the 8i db
But, it seems that the initialisation of a parameter cannot be done in the same way in the 10g
I get the message "FRM-47032: Cannot set value of parameter BLABLABLA in DEFAULT parameter list: internal error"
This parameter BLABLABLA is declare as a CHAR and defaulted with 'NO'

Anyway, after a long search, I found out that the problem was somewhere else, in our Webutil configuration...
And, therefore, the error I got, come from the ON_ERROR trigger, that ran right before the PRE_FORM trigger (because of a bad configuration of webutil)
All is fine now.
and the issue is closed.

How to copy paste a table structure from word document into Text Field [field format Rich Text]

In our current implementation we have a Blank page with Text Field [field format Rich Text] on generated PDF Document.
Once the PDF document is generated, user can copy paste content form any word/rtf document to into the Text Field.
Pasted content retains all text formatting [Bold, Italic, Underline, Indentation] except the Table format. Text Field is removing table metadata from the content and converting it into plant text.
Is there anyway to copy paste table structure as it is from word document into Text Field?

I don't think you can! While you can paste formatted text into the rich text field, the table metadata means nothing to the textfield.

I'm new to the Adobe world and this is my first project. I'm not sure if this is even possible, but here's what I'm trying to do...
One document is a PDF portfolio with 200 images (jpg or tif). Each image in the portfolio will have a description. The second document is a PDF form created in LiveCycle. I want to be able to (from Reader with rights enabled) import the image from the portfolio into a field and have that image displayed along with the description all inside the form. I am on an SRM sytem, which unfortunately does not have th FM: PSSV_TEXT_INTO_FIELD_CURRENCY.
But I also need to transfer a string value like '12,99' to a field with type curr.
Can i Do that manually, or is there another FM?
I have already checked code with write to or pack/unpack.
But without success yet.
Something like this:
DATA: g_str(11) type c.
DATA: g_p type p.
WRITE '12,99' TO g_str CURRENCY 'EUR'.
is no use for me. Finally I need to move g_str to my curr-field, which causes st22.
also: PACK g_str to <curr-field or g_p> dumps.

My Requirement is as follows,
We are using FPM framework and the application is developed on Webdynpro Java,
When a end user fills up the details on this application form and clicks on a Review button,
it will display the summary of the above details in a PDF format.
This PDF will be converted from a smart form in backend.
My question is how do we integrate this PDF at runtime into Portal via WebDynpro Java?

Hi.
First tell your abapper to make a RFC for you that returns the binary of the smartform.
Then import that RFC.
Create an Interactive Form UI Element.
-In its properties, select "usePdf" option and then in pdfSource select the attribute where the binary from the zfunction is returned.
If you dont have problems with encoding the pdf will be shown.

Check a convertion from CHAR TO NUMC

Hi,
I import a flatfile into a structure that contains only CHAR-fields. Then I make a TRY-CATCH construct for every field in P,I,F,N..-datatypes to check if the data is correct.
P,I,F raise a CONVERT-Exception that i can handle.
A move to N-field raise no exception but put a wrong values to the N-field.
Example:
Charfield contains ' 1 1 0000', N-field is '110000'.
A compare in the program like
IF C-Field <> N-Field raise a exception that can't be catched by TRY-Catch.
How can i check if the field is correct?
Anybody understand me and have an idea?

thank you for your fast reply.
I've written one TRY method that has a import-parameter with TYPE ANY and a import-parameter for the target field.
The target field can be everything like P,I,F,N,C,D.
The method checks if the value can be converted into the target field and avoid a shortdump, when the flatfile contains bad data.
So I have to get the type by
cl_abap_typedescr=>describe_by_data
and then make your suggested Conatins-only-check if it is a
cl_abap_typedescr=>typekind_num

I would like to run a SELECT from table T007A into an internal table which is of type TXW_TAXCOD.
T007A has a decimal field in it ( TOLERANCE ) which is of data type DEC, length of 3 and 1 decimal place.
This is the code in the standard program --

         into corresponding fields of table t_txw_taxcod up to 20 rows.
I have to make the TOLERANCE field value in T007A land up in a character field in the structure, I have declared the TOLERANCE field in structure TXW_TAXCOD as a character field of type 5 (infact tried CHAR4 and CHAR8 etc etc) but I face a runtime error
I cannot change the code in standard program, can you please tell me what other data type can I use to make this select work
