Converting to Word using Adobe ExportPDF

I have recently installed Adobe ExportPDF and used it to convert some files to Word. I find now that when I receive a PDF file it opens a Word dialog box headed File Conversion - Select the encoding that makes your document readable. All the options result in hieroglyphics! All I want to do is to be able to receive PDF files and open them as PDF files. I only need to convert PDF files to Word or Excel very occasionally. Can you help please.

Sounds like your file associations got messed up.  Could you try this:
Right-click a PDF file and choose 'Open with...'
Select Adobe Reader from the list of available or recommended programs
Check the box that says 'Always use this program to open this file type'
Click 'Ok'
Let us know if you continue to have trouble.

    Believe me, we ALL know what you are going through!
    You CAN develop your slideshow directly in iDVD and you can have multiple songs (I just figured this out myself just now! LOL). I will walk you through the process.
    Firstly, open a new project in iDVD.
    Then press the + button (bottom left hand side) and add slideshow and a heading "My Slideshow" will show up on your iDVD screen. Then, go into your media and press photos, and drop your folder of photos into the "My Slideshow" button (if you havent put your folders into a new album in iPhoto, now is the time to do this).
    Now double click on your My Slideshow button and all your photo's should come up. Down the bottom of this page you will see some options. Slide Duration, Transition etc. Again, go into your media and select audio. Go through your playlist and hold down the apple button (next to space bar left hand side) and select the songs you want to play with your slides then drag them across to the audio button (it automatically changes the slideshow to fit to audio). The only problem I can see with this is that there is considerable "dead" time between tracks which means some slides show without music. You can easily solve this by going into Garage Band and trim off the excess "dead" time at the end of each track. If you have problems with this I can talk you through that too if you would like.
    Oh and I think i read somewhere that 99 photos is the maximum you can have in iPhoto?? That could be what is causing your problem. You could always break it down in to 2 separate slide shows?

  • Cannot convert pdf file to Word using Adobe ExportPDF online...I get a timeout error after a wait of about 15 minutes

    Oh...BTW...I am using Windows 7 with Chrome browser and I disabled text recognition.  The file is 3.7 MB.  It says it failed because it is taking too long to process however the Adobe export PDF notes that it can convert unlimited files to Word or Excel files.  Anything else I can try?  I exported it to Adobe.com and tried toconvert it there but it looks like the same process...and with the same result.

    Hi there,
    It sounds like there may be an issue with the quality of the PDF. Not all PDFs are created equal, and especially those created from scanned documents can be problematic if the scan quality isn't the best. Is there a dark background on the PDF, or stray marks or smudges?
    You can try converting with OCR disabled at outlined in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (O... | Adobe Community. But, while that's a good test to find out where the problem lies, you'll end up with a Word document that isn't editable, so it's not an optimal solution.
    Please let us know how it goes.

  • "file failed to be converted using Adobe ExportPDF online"

    I have been getting errors for about a week when trying to convert a PDF to a word document. In Acrobat I get the error "File failed to be converted using Adobe ExportPDF Online" and when online using ExportPDF I get a conversion failure.
    Please help.

    Hi PeterChick,
    Does it occur with all files or a specific file?
    Are you trying to convert from within Reader or from Browser?
    If from Reader then make sure you are signed in within Reader, also try updating Reader to the latest v11.0.09 and check.
    If from Browser then have you checked with a different browser if possible?
    Regards,
    Florence

    Hi Dude291,
    I'm sorry that you're having trouble with ExportPDF. Can you please tell me a bit more about what's going on, so we can get to the bottom of the issue?
    What browser are you using? Have you tried clearing the browser cache?
    Are you converting from within Reader, or directly via the ExportPDF website?
    Are you able to convert other files? Or is the error specific to this one file?
    How large or complex is  the file that you're trying to convert?
    Are you accessing ExportPDF from a networked computer that may have firewall/proxy settings that are limiting access to the Internet?
    I think that's good for starters. Please get back to us with some detail about the problem and we will see what we can do.
    Best,
    Sara

  • Why does all alphabets change to capital when converting pdf to word using Adobe Acrobat XI

    Why does all alphabets change to capital when converting pdf to word using Adobe Acrobat XI

    Word 2013 uses its own pdf creator engine as far as I know. The step I performed were:
    1 - In the save settings I told word to embed fonts (sorry for the language, I have the Italian client)
    2 - Export from Word -> Save As -> .pdf adding also the table of contents/index
    N.B. I cannot use PDF/A, and in any case it doesn't embed the font
    A working solution is to use Acrobat XI to convert it or print with Adobe PDF printer, results:
    The problems are 2:
    1 - It doesn't create any bookmark and doesn't create links from the table of images to the linked images
    2 - Images, also with the preset "High Quality Printing" customized using "No compression", are really ugly and if you zoom a bit more than 100% they totally be s**t. It wasn't that way with PDF created by word.
    In the end, or I find they way to open the pdf created by word and embedd the missing font, or I find a way to make Acrobat XI creating bookmarks from the word file.
    Suggestion?

    HI Sheryl,
    ExportPDF is not a translation service.  What you're asking to do is not possible with ExportPDF.

  • Help needed using adobe exportpdf

    The first time I used adobe export pdf it worked well. However the next time and every other time I try to convert a pdf doc to word docx I get the error message at the end of the uploading session. "pdf doc failed to export to m,icrosoft word.  There was an unexpected problem.
    Anyone overcome this problem?

    Hi Stacy
                   Thanks for that info.  I was aware of the 100MB limit but
    your response made me think again and go back to the problem and this is
    what I found. The first  pdf document I uploaded into Adobe export pdf was  43
    MB and it went through fine. when I looked at the conversion to Word  docx I
    found it had been transformed into 83MB.
    So the conversion (which was a children's book with lots of images in it)
    resulted in an increase of MBs by a factor of 1.7.
    The second pdf document I uploaded was 64MB and this failed. If I apply the
    1.7 factor then the Word docx I wanted was going to be 109MB and therefore
    over  the 100MB limit.
    I didn't know that converting pdf to word would increase the MB like that.
    Why, I don't know so thanks for your help I've learnt something new.
    Cheers
                Garth

  • Adobe v9 on W7 and office 2007. cannot create PDF from MS word using Adobe. But can from Excel, PPT

    Adobe v9 on W7 and office 2007. cannot create PDF from MS word using Adobe. But can from Excel, PPT and other MS office apps. Reinslalled Adobe, updated Office, and Adobe no help! Also I can create a pdf from the MS Word and it is using the Adobe 9. So one would think that's good. No it isn't when you need to combine different files to one big PDF document. Any suggetions? Thank you

    Yes, I’m saying that I can in WORD use “Save As ADOBE pdf” but cannot in ADOBE create a pdf file from a WORD (.doc or .docx) document. While I can from other MS Office apps like Excel and PowerPoint.
    I understand I can use “work around” and save doc in WORD as pdf then compile all files needed (xml, ppt, pdf) in the ADOBE v9. to one big pdf document. But that is not the point of this post.

  • Techniques needed for Automated (OLE) PDF Creation from Word using Adobe 9

    My client currently uses Adobe 5, PDF Writer, Word and OLE automation to generate PDF files.  This is done on a server. A queue of Word documents are read. A watermark is added via a VB Macro. Then, also via a macro (below) a pdf file version of the Word doc  is generated. The pdf file is generated as temp.pdf, which the program uniquely renames later.
    Unfortunately, Adobe 5 and PDF Writer cannot handle Chinese characters and now needs to.  Seems like the process  above cannot be the same with Adobe 9. How should I approach this server driven, pdf file generation from Word docs with Adobe 9? This is a 24 x 7 ongoing, 100s of documents a day process. It isn’t clear to me that PDF Writer is still an option.  With Adobe 9 installed on a client, it is possible to save a Chinese character Word document using the Adobe ‘Convert to PDF’ toolbar button
    Sub WritePdfFile()
        Windows(1).Activate
        ActivePrinter = "Acrobat PDFWriter"
        Application.PrintOut FileName:="", Range:=wdPrintAllDocument, Item:= _
            wdPrintDocumentContent, Copies:=1, Pages:="", PageType:=wdPrintAllPages, _
            Collate:=True, Background:=True, PrintToFile:=False
    End Sub

    I think that type of question would go in
