Copy and Paste or Restore State

Hi everyone, I'm very new to the Acrobat API so please be gentle. I am writing a plugin that after saving a PDF document, the file is uploaded to a DMS. For reasons I won't go into here the document has to be closed for certain operations to be performed. All of this is fine except for when the user cancels the save operation (as it relates to the DMS) because I have already saved the document locally in it's editied state. So, when I reopen the document it has the changes in it (which is fine) but Acrobat doesn't recognize that any of the previous changes to the document at this point. IS ther a way that I can either copy the contents of the document prior to saving and hold it on the clipboard so that it can be pasted back in after I reopen the original OR perhaps open the modified version of the document and somehow revert all of the save/changed flags and so forth back to their previous state so that acrobat thinks it has been modified. I know that this is all a bit confusing so here's what I'm trying to do...
1- Open PDF document
2- Make a change
3- Save the document
4- Close the document
5- Upload to DMS (the actual SAVE as far as the DMS is concerned)
Assuming the user cancels #5 we have to undo everything
6a. - re-open the original document & paste the changed contents over the top of it so it appears to be modified to Acrobat
OR
6b. - re-open the modified document but put acrobat back into a state where it sees the document as having been modified from the original.
If you have any other ideas or tactics I would appreciate the input.

Okay, I've been trying to figure this out on my own as much as possible but I'm struggling to make it actually work. Again, I don't have a great understanding of what I SHOULD be doing so I could be way off. Here is what I am doing.
1 - User clicks my custom save option
2 - I execute the following to get the new root object (or at least I think I am)...
CosDoc cosDoc = PDDocGetCosDoc(pdDoc); CosObj cosRoot = CosDocGetRoot(cosDoc);
2 - Copy the original pdf to a backup (in windows not with the API)
3 - Perform the save operation. If the user cancels I copy the unedited original file back and open it, then I run...
CosObjCopy(cosRoot, PDDocGetCosDoc(pdDoc),true);
Am I even in the ballpark of what I should be doing? As you may have guessed the edits that I thought would be in cosRoot are either not there or I'm not doing what I need to in order for them to show up on the screen.

I have a client working on an 11" MacBook Air purchased early this year reporting that she cannot access copy and paste across applications:

I have suggested that she uses Disk Utility to repair permissions on her Hard Disk and then restart in Safe Mode to see whether Copy and Paste is restored and also that Mail is back in order, through a corrupted Preference file may require resetting.
Any body else seen any of these symptoms or have any thoughts as to a cause and a possible solution. At the back of my mind is the thought that she may have been hit by a Trojan. I'm reminded of the strange symptoms experienced by clients using MS Office when the Flashback Trojan struck in 2012.
Any help appreciated.

I have found various other explanations – still following links discovered through DuckDuckGo – raising the possibility that other utilities may be interfering, such as Koteri for those switching between English and Japanese and perhaps the most likely explanation, that my client has accidentally engaged some element of the Accessibility controls.

If you have ever inadvertently engaged keyboard zoom you will know how odd the Mac feels with such changed behaviours in place. Perhaps my client did thunder on the option key 5 times in a moment of frustration and make the leap into a parallel universe where the reassurance of Copy and Paste does not apply.
I'll report back once I've investigated further.

I have seen this issue occur with users who have this registry setting missing or have improper permissions.
When you double click the attachment to launch the pdf it is saved and opened from the temporary folder unless saved specifically to a location.
If you dont have the below mentioned registry key or improper permissions then attachments fail to open.
Please heck if the following reg key exists:

After the most recent firefox update I can no longer copy and paste. the fuinction only works in Windows and I HATE usign it. Any suggestions on how to restore the copy and paste function while using Mozilla?

I have been unable to use the copy and past command while using mozilla. the fucntion does work in windows IE, but I don't want to use windows. How do I restore or fix this function? I varies, works some days and not others.

How do I get back my edit functions, copy and paste, without doing a restore?

When I switched to Firefox 4 I no longer have the file, edit, etc. functions anywhere. I can't or don't know how to copy and paste websites to emails for instance without the edit functions.

I have checked the toolbar buttons and have MENU ticked, I went to the customize toolbar thing and added (by drag and drop) the cut copy and paste and other buttons I cant find now, and they showed up at first, then they disappeared. The top section seems terribly narrow now and I cant find any way to add the buttons underneath where they used to be...help!

Since transferring data from my desktop to my laptop, i am now having problems copying and pasting details from my bank website in to a word document, the formatting is all over the place. This didnt happen before, when i pasted the details in to the word document the formatting was exactly the same as on the webpage. If I use internet explorer, I dont have this problem, so, I can only assume it has something to do with Firefox. Copy and paste buffers not working correctly in iOS 8.1m

Both iPads2's in my family arsenal are exhibiting what I believe to be a bug in the iOS8.1 (perhaps corrected by 8.1.1?), in the cut/copy & paste buffer stack.
When invoking the operation to copy and paste data from one application to another, the paste action consistently selects the previous (e.g., stack level 2 rather than 1 or Top) data as what is to be pasted.
In other words, if you have used the copy and paste routine twice, the second pasting will supply one with the paste data from the first operation, rather than the desired data from the second copy and paste operation.
Copy and paste appears to work correctly from within a single application, but consistently fails when copying data from one application to another.
Does anyone know of a work-around for this bug? Is it a bug that others have identified? Is there a new selection filter menu option for copy and paste operations, and what method is used to invoke the menu?
I hope this is addressed soon, as I use Cut/Copy & Paste operations extensively (I've already had Carpal Tunnel Release surgery once and don't relish a repeat performance, no matter how successful the first was in correcting the damage).
Any clues as to what's going on here?

All you can do is simply see if iOS 8.1.1 helps you with this. With some people it has, and others it has not. I would also recommend doing a clean install of your system, too.
Follow this procedure for a Troubleshooting Methodology ... basically reset to factory default condition -BUT- be sure to do the following methodically and also to follow the part with Apple Support!
First you want to make sure you have several backups of your data and done with a couple of "different" sources. Be sure to understand what data is backed up and what is NOT on iCloud Backup and iTunes Backup. Use a variety of methods for backup ... you might check into Dropbox, in addition to your Apple options.
Then turn off your desktop anti-virus software when using iTunes for this reset to factory default. After you do that reset, then leave your iPad in its factory default state and see how it operates then. If you encounter any problems in that factory default state, then take it to Apple Support, and let them know that you have just reset it to that state with iTunes and have not put any of your data back on and it is operating in this fashion (whatever the problem is) in that pristine state. Make sure you keep that trouble ticket number, because if it has to be escalated through Apple Support, you're going to find all communications tied in with that number. If the lower level help isn't able to help you, then escalate it to a higher level to examine the problem. Keep at it with that trouble ticket number until Apple Support arrives at a solution to that problem. Be methodical and keep at it.
On the other hand, if everything is okay with the factory default condition, then restore your backup. Some people have discovered that the problem resides in the apps or something in the restored backup. If that's the case, then it's going to be trying and difficult to find out which developer's app is causing you the problem. And ... it's true ... that a developer not following Apple's instructions and guidelines for his app can CAUSE YOU TROUBLE. This kind of thing does happen from developers, especially when a new system upgrade comes out, because some developers ignore what Apple tells them about changes coming, and what they do BREAKS SOMETHING.
This is a troubleshooting methodology that you are going through. See it through to the end.

HT201269 itunes cannot see my iphone backup. I have a backup of the backup on an external HD, but even tech support cannot figure this one out. I copy and paste backups into the correct folder but itunes still does not see it. All I need are my contact

Sorry for short novel I am writing. I just wanted to cover as much backround as possible.
So, here it goes. I backed up my iphone 4 after renting a movie. The movie only played the starting credits before I was called on for daddy duty. A few days later the movie would not play, so I restored my phone from my backup. The movie would still would not play so itunes support refunded my purchase and ended my viewing privileges for that rental after verifying that I had not viewed the movie. I then had a problem with my contacts showing up twice in the contacts list after the restore. So I attempted another restore. All was well at this point. I then started having trouble with my pc and decided to copy the internal drive to an external source. A week later I had a system failure and did a factory restore on my computer. I re-installed itunes and tried to copy and paste the old backup into the new itunes. Now itunes just flat out does not see the backup file (I failed to mention that I did a factory reset on the iphone after the last backup, hopping to start fresh). Tech support had me uninstall and re-install itunes and then copy and paste the old backup into the newly installed itunes with no luck. The files are all there, but itunes just doesn't see them (itunes says the device has not been backed up to the cloud or to the local machine). We then tried backing up the factory restored iphone and replacing that restore file with one of my old backups on the external drive. Ok, this is where it gets weird. We replaced the guts of the folder but left the folder itself so itunes would continue to recognize the new backup folder with the old files. Whoohoo, itunes now see's a backup folder full of old files, or so we thought. The new files were deleted using shift delete so they would be gone for good and not mix with any files or folders. When I restore my phone, it restores the files that were deleted from the restore file (pause here for a moment and imagine the stupid look on the face of tech support and I while we silently wonder how files that were permanently deleted were restored). This left tech support and I both scratching our heads. My service issue was escalated to the next level. I waited for the phone call the next day that was scheduled at 10am to my wife's phone, but the call never came through. As usual, apple disappoints again. I just bought an iphone 5s and still have the iphone 4, and am looking for a solution to retrieve my contacts and restore to the 4 or 5s. I am guessing that files in other folders must be associated with the iphone backup in order for itunes to retrieve the files. Any ideas or support in retrieving my contacts would be greatly appreciated.

Since downloading 29.0.1 I can no longer cut, copy and paste. So frustrating!!!

I often copy and paste items into website forums with no problem. However, since I upgraded to 29.0.1 I can no longer do that and it's so frustrating. I have tried doing the extra steps of clicking on your copy and paste items but that doesn't help. I even tried uploading the AllowClipboard Helper but that didn't work either. I never needed that add-on in the past.
This is ridiculous.
How do I revert back to version 28? It worked fine but you just had to go ahead and "fix" it and I hate the new version. I was able to download the Classic Theme Restorer which helped a lot but some things I could not make like the version 28.

You don't need that user.js file any longer for those cut, copy, and paste preferences.
