Copy SSIS Packages

Can we copy all SSIS packages with folder structure from one  SQL Server to another SQL Server ?  is it can be done by SSIS packge or Sp

I had no problem copy/paste the SSIS folder to another server (SQL Server 2012), open it, change a connection string (in terms that is same database structure) and just deployed it.

  • Copy table from Ms SQL Server 2005 to Oracle with SSIS package

    Hi all
I am witting an SSIS package to copy 2 tables from Ms SQL Server 2005 to an Oracle 10g database.
Problem: I can only see the Microsoft OLDB Provider for Oracle and it is too slow. How can I use the Oracle ODBC in aMs SQL Server 2005 or building a .net SSIS package.
    thanks

Yes I am able to see the driver on the Data Source (ODBC), I also created a connection to the Oracle database. The problem in Ms SQL Server 2005 is that the ODBC connection I created is not listed. None of the lo local connections are listed, only Microsoft OLEDB connections

My SSIS package loads data from access database to SQL Server database.
It's a straight copy. It fails with the below warnings and error message as shown below:

There are 3 warning messages even before I run the package. Warnings are all about the mismatch between the source and destination column sizes.
I cross checked the source and destination column sizes. The destination column sizes are fairly high than the source column sizes.
It worked well all the while and when we are going to pre-prod it is throwing errors. Any help is highly appreciated.
    Thank you.

Please check if the dev destination table has same column data types and size as compared with pre prod table

  • How to Create a SQL Agent Job For A SSIS Package with Sql Server Authentication

    Hi ALl,
I have a SSIS package which basically has a data flow task in which i pull the data from one server and copy it into another server and my source server is the one where i dont have windows authentication and i have to only use a sql server authentication
. This package runs fine if i click the server connection properties type the password and save it.
Now, my task is to set up a sql agent job which basically uses a proxy account and takes this package from the file system and runs it.But when i try to run this package, its failing with an error saying
"Login Failed For rpt5user" where rpt5user is the username for my sql server authentication of the source connection.
Can someone please help me with any suggestions on how to do this?
I have heard that we can achieve it by using xml config file which i have never used and i am trying to google around but for no luck.
So, If someone can please throw any suggestions or ideas on this it would be great.
    Thanks

You need to add password as a config item and set it from the file source or sql table
    see this as an example

  • How do I get SQL Agent to perform an FTP connection through a SSIS package?

I have created a number of SSIS packages that I am running through SQL Agent in various jobs.  I have set up a Credential / Proxy for the job steps and for the most part everything runs no problem.  The issue I have is with the step where I make
a connection to a FTP server and download files.  In BIDS the step works fine but in SQL Agent the step times out.  I presume that it has to do with the account that it is being run under but that is what I thought the Credential / Proxy was supposed
to handle (as it does for all the other steps).  I am running on SQL Server 2008 R2.  I have created a test job that has only one step which is to connect to the FTP server and download some text files.  I have tried utilizing package configuration
files and have tried various ProtectionLevels to no avail.
Anyone have any thoughts or direction for me to take?  Will continue to research and will post if I resolve this.
    Thanks, Andrew

On the dev environment the ProtectionLevel is set to EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey and that is what I tried first on the prod server.  Subsequently I also tried utilizing a package config file (with ProtectionLevel then of DontSaveSensitive) and have
also tried working with the ServerStorage.
For deployment I copied the relevant dtsx files to a solution on the prod server.  I verified that the packages all had tested connections in the Connection Manager.  I have run all the packages in the BIDS on the prod server and they all worked.
I have created a test package from scratch on the prod server to test the ftp connection.  This test package runs from BIDS fine.  I have set the SQL Agent file to access through the file system (no luck) and have saved the package to the SSIS Packages
and had the job step access from there (no luck either).

You need to split your data and create (at least 5) worksheet targets.
For example if you have a ROW_NUMBER column you can use for instance a
    Conditional Split for something like:
    ROW_NUMBER % 5 == 0 for Case 1 (excel 1)
    ROW_NUMBER % 5 == 1 for Case 2 (excel 2)
    ROW_NUMBER % 5 == 2 for Case 3 (excel 3)
    ROW_NUMBER % 5 == 3 for Case 4 (excel 4)
    ROW_NUMBER % 5 == 4 for Case 5 (excel 5)

  • Scheduling SSIS packages through SQL Server Agent

Hello All!  I have an SSIS question for BPC 7.5 installations across multiple servers.  I have been rebuilding all my DTS packages over to SSIS and trying to learn this more dynamic environment.  Currently I have saved a copy of all my rebuilt packages from BIDS (on web server)  to the MSDB located on the SQL server.  I can manually run packages from Integration Services and load data successfully.  When I try to schedule packages based on the packages stored in MSDB, I get failures.  The errors initially suggested I was passing over a NULL password, so I adjusted the protection level of the package to ServerStorage, as opposed to the default setting.
Now I have the following error when I schedule and run it:

Are you sure that you are running the same package via .NET which works fine from Visual Studio?
By reading error message, I can say that you have copied OLEDB task from another package OR you have deleted one OLEDB connection manager. Now when package is run this task tries to use the connection manager and not found thus throws error message.
Open all OLEDB destination tasks and you find connection manager missing. Connection Manager name should be provided there

  • Can't change the connection string of SSIS package with derived columns?

We upgraded SQL server 2008 to 2012, copied and converted all SSIS packages from Visual Studio 2008 to 2010.  When I opened a package in VS 2010 and tried to change the connection string, in the local connection managers, if the data source is another
SSIS package B(.dtsx file) with derived columns, I can't change the connection string of package B. When I opened the file connection manager editor for package B and tried to locate a dtsx file in another location, saved the change, reopened the project.
Package B still pointed to previous file.  Other packages without derived columns work fine. Any thoughts?

We are using the package deployment model and refer to other packages in the same project. If
we changed the path of package B (with derived columns) to "D:\Visual Studio 2010\xxxx", and refer it in package A, in the A's connection manager, the connection string of package B is still its previous location  "D:\Visual
Studio 2008\xxxx". When we ran the package A in the SQL server agent, the data source is still
     "D:\Visual
Studio 2008\xxxx", so how can I change it to "D:\Visual
Studio 2010\xxxx"? Why has the package C (without derived columns) no such problem? thanks.

  • How to deploy parent child SSIS package to production/live server.

Hi all I am very new to SSIS. I have got SSIS package developed by some other guy this package reads data from flat files and stores to database after mapping.
Flow: 1) First package extract records from flat file and stores in table. 2) Then it calls child package using Execute package tasks. 3) Then child package do some calculations and update the database table.
SSIS is using Environment variable to get database information.
Every thing is working fine but now I want to deploy this package to my client's server.
Ques: Do I need to copy and paste files from bin folder and paste on clients machine?
What I Tried: I copy files from bin folder and placed on my local computer. Then I create a job in MSSQL and run the job. Package runs perfectly. But Later I changed location of my project and problem starts job stops working.
Issue: Error says location of child package is not available(As I changed position of my project files)
    Kindly suggest what to do.

    Hi Anuj,
The issue occurs because the path of the child package is invalid once you change the location of the project. When configuring the child package reference for Execute Package Task, we can configure it to use Project Reference or External Reference:
As for the Project Reference, it is used when the project is not deployed or the project to deployed to the SSISDB catalog in SSIS 2012.
As for the SQL Server External Reference, it is used when the project or child package is deployed to the msdb database. The File System External Reference can be used no matter whether the child package is deployed or not.
Since the SQL Server Agent job runs correctly after you copied the bin folder to the local computer, it seems that the Execute Package Task uses File System reference and reference to a mapped network driver which maps to the folder that contains the original
IS project. Otherwise, the SQL Server Agent job should fail because of the invalid path of the child package even if you don’t change the location of the original IS project.
In your scenario, after copying the bin folder to your local computer, it is recommended that you install the child package to the File System or msdb on your local server, and then edit the parent package in BIDS/SSDT to change the reference of the installed
child package from the File System or SQL Server storage. After that, you can but don’t have to install the parent package.

  • When Deploying SSIS Packages to SQL Server using SSMS Import feature, is the package configuration file deployed at the same time?

    Hello, everyone,
I have an SSIS package with a XML package configuration file. I deployed it to the sql server using the import feature in SSMS (in Stored Packages, right click MSDB, select Import, select the package to deploy in file system). My question is
Is the XML package configuration file also deployed? If so, which folder is it stored so that I can change the values in it? If not, is setting up the Configuration tab when scheduling a agent job the way to go manually bring the configuration file in?
Your help and information is much appreciated.
    Regards

Thank you Arthur for your reply. I appreciate it.
    A followup questions:
I used direct setting for the configuration file path on C:\. But it needs to be on D:\ on the remote server. I can't create the D:\ path because I don't have D:\ drive on my computer (I understand I could use indirect setting to change the path in the remote
server. But that's not the concern here).
My question is:  since the configuration is not deployed, can I make it up by setting up the Configurations in creating the agent job step? That is, copy the configuration file to the D:\ drive on the remote server, in Configurations tab, add the configuration
file on D:\ to the configuration. Will it work? Will the package still look for the original config file on C:\?  and if it doesn't find it there, will it cause any error?
Thank you in advance for your help.

  • Child package cannot read param value from parent ssis package

    Hi all,
I think I must be crazy !! i have a big problem in my ssis project .
i have more than 40 package one parent and 39 childs
i use configuration method to get variable values from parent to child packages and it work well .. but when i copy my ssis project
to the production server i face the following problem .. childs package didn't read the variables values from the parent package
i revised the configuration many times i can't find any missing !!
    any help please ...
    Thanks,

Do not copy the packages from the projet to the production server, but you must generate the manifest installation including your configuration, and deploy them.
Note : not forget to include the configuration.

  • Multiple SSIS Packages into one single package

    Hello All,
I have created 4 SSIS Packages.
1st package- To load data from FlatFiles to DB(MasterTable)
2nd package- split the MasterTable into 2 different tables(ChildTable1, ChildTable2).
3rd package- join the child table to another mastertable to get an ID column.
4rd package - Remove the duplicates from childtables and load all the duplicates into another table.
Is it possible to have them all in a single Package? Which is the best way to develop them in a single
    package?
    Please Help me.
    Thanks, Shyam Reddy.

Your approach of keeping these logical steps into separate packages suits a situation where you'd want to execute some of these steps ad-hoc or be able to restart from the point of failure onwards if the load fails mid way on a given day. However, if you
really want to run this flow as a single, end-to-end workflow, you can create a Master package which then calls these 4 child packages in a certain order (using Execute package task). Alternatively, if you'd like to maintain one SSIS package rather than 5,
you can simply copy individual tasks from each package (Ctr+c, Ctrl+v) into a single package and eliminate the ones you don't need.
Note that you might have to recreate the connection managers those individual SSIS packages were using after you copy the contents of the packages over to a single one.
    I hope this helps!
    Cheers!

  • Error with SSIS package running as SQL Agent job

    I have a strange issue.
I have a SQL Agent job that execute 5 steps, each step is an SSIS package that imports a CSV file to a temp table, then executes a SQL script to update a production table.
This job runs every 3 mins, every day, and has been for over a year.
Every once in a while it will start failing on step 2.  Sometime it only happens for a couple of runs, other times I have to restart the SQL server.  Once it corrects itself, it could be months before it happens again, but usually happens every
    few weeks.
The error in the job history is: "Unable to bulk copy data. You may need to run this package as an administrator"
Obviously I have all the permissions correct, as it was running successfully every 3 mins before this error suddenly starts. I'm at a loss as to what the problem is.  It is always on step 2, which is identical to step 1 except its a different CSV file
going to a different table. As I typed this, it failed twice, then was successful afterwards.
Any ideas where to look for further information? I've checked the event viewer and looked in the SQL logs, nothing stands out at this time.

    Hi Kerberos35,
It seems to be caused by the UAC feature which makes SSIS use the low-permissions token of the administrator Windows account under which the job runs. This issue is described in the following KB article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2216489/en-us
To resolve the issue, you can install the latest service pack for your SQL Server. To work around this issue, you can also use one of the following two methods:
Method 1: Replace the SQL Server Destination components in the Data Flow Tasks that are failing with OLE DB Destination components that point to the same SQL Server connection manager.
Method 2: Create a SQL Server Agent proxy by using a Windows account that is not a member of the local Administrators group after you assign Create Global Objects permissions to that account.
To do this, follow these steps:
Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Local Security Policy.
Expand Local Policies, and then click User Rights Assignment.
In the details pane, double-click Create global objects.
In the Local Security Policy Setting dialog box, click Add.
In the Select Users or Group dialog box, click the user accounts that you want to add, click Add, and then click OK two times.

  • Issue with Dataflow Task in SSIS Package

    Hello Everyone,
I have recently created an SSIS package to Load data from Flat file to SQL Server Table, it was working fine. Now I have bought a new laptop and copied the projects into this new system and changed all the connection managers(Flat files) accordingly.
Problem is, when I previously ran the package(With File1) in old laptop and check the distinct count on a table it was perfect, but when I ran the same package with same File on New Laptop, the Distinct count gives me an issue with particular record.
Eg: Distinct Count with old laptop Run , 10,20,100
Distinct Count with old New Run , 10,20,100  , 100
There is a Space being generated for a particular record, when I run the package on new laptop with same File as old one.
Any suggestions on this, I could not exactly figured out the Issue.
    Please Help.
    Thanks
Thanks, Please Help People When they need..!!! Mark as answered if your problem is solved.

You need to tell the responders here how exactly to reproduce your issue and provide the file.
I do not know how the "distinct count" works.
Seems to me it appears to be a database issue not SSIS.
