Copy table formatting

I am converting old PageMaker files to InDesign files. It appears to copy the data over properly, just that the tables are really wacky when it comes to formatting. It makes huge gaps between the cells, and i have to go resize each cell.
My question is, is there a way to copy a tables formatting to another table? Mainly font, font size, and cell size?
Table and Cell styles appear to do nothing.

Thanks Wayne - I've been working on my AppleWorks to Numbers comversion  using the Apple key - D method to duplicate tables.
I do have to retype column headers (these change for each table)
If I could paste formatting, I could copy the entire table from imported spreadsheet, paste formatting, and Wah-Lah.
Oh, Well the Apple Key - D method (re-entering column heads - type once and then Ctrl-C & a bunch of Ctrl-Vs) is WAY easier than reformatting each table manually.
Only slightly painful to have to re-enter all the cell references for the summed-column totals in the sub-tables into the main table
I've been using the same spreadsheet (w/ minor tweaks from year to year) for the past 12 years... it ain't broke & I'm grumpy about fixing what Apple broke - computers are such timesavers... sigh

  • Copying tables from the pdf file & loosing all table format when pasted into a word document

    I have tables in an Adobe Reader 9.2 file that need to be placed in a word document.
    When I copy the table and paste it into the word document I loose all table formating and am left w/just text--and, not in the right places, I might add.
    Help please!!
    Thanks! Edie

    The only thing that comes close is to use the Snapshot tool (from the Tools Menu) and copy the entire table and paste it, but it treats it as a graphic (picture) and you can no longer edit cells.

  • How can I copy cell formatting from one range to another?

    How can I copy cell formatting from one range to another, including text fonts, colours, borders, etc., so that, for example, I can reuse a formatted reconciliation table again in different parts of a sheet?

    Hi George,
    Wayne found the Spinning Beachball of Death, and you will find it too.
    Numbers is not good at handling large datasets. Might I suggest that you group your data into smaller sets (each month, perhaps?) and save each group in a separate Numbers document. Numbers will not link between documents, but you could have a summary Table within each document. Then comes the "clunky" bit of copying all those summary tables into a master document where you do the final processing of the data.

    Ian.

  • Displaying Line Items of a BAPI in Table Format

    have a custom Bapi ZPM_GET_ORDERS.
    It has a Model structure like
    Orders_Hdr
    Operations [Multiple Line Items]
    I want to display the operations line items in the table format in a View when we click on the Orders_Hdr.
    For that I am wondering what should the code on the onLeadSelect of Orders_Hdr table at the ViewController?
    In other words how can I display those line items on a click of a Header record. I am looking for some pseudo code that goes in the onActionLeadSelect()of View.
    Thank You . Any help is appreciated

    Hi Vivek,
             On LeadSelect .....just get the current selected node element and also store a attribute value from the currnet selected to a variable (like orderid)which is common in both the node ....then loop through the operations node and put the condition equal to orderid using the variable ...if mathces the put node elemnt in to some node created(value node of same type )...
    for copying the node u can use the WSCopyService class...

  • Get-rid of the format we get using Get-ADuser in a CSV. Send CSV data in an email in table format

    Hi,
    I am using get-ADuser in order to extract a few AD attributes of some users. I export the users and their respective attributes to a CSV. However, the output in CSV i get has the following format in each cell for its AD attribute.
    @{description=<Value>} or @ { info=<Value>}
    I have tried to use Expandproperty switch in order to get rid of it but it does not accept null values and hence if a user has no value for a said attribute, the previous value is copied for that user too. However, without expand property it gives me the
    above format in the output.
    $Desc = Get-ADUser $Username -Properties description | select description
    I would like the cells to contain only values and not this format along.
    Also, once I have the CSV with values I would also like to copy the values from CSV in an email in the form of a TABLE. I have been able to copy the content in an email using the following however, this in not in a table format.
    $mail = Import-Csv $newlogonfile | Out-String
    Please HELP!

    Yes I am already using Export-Csv but still getting the same kind of format in output :-
    $Username = $Event.Properties[5].Value
                $Title_var = get-aduser $Username -properties Title | select Title
           $Ofc_phone = get-aduser $Username -Properties OfficePhone | select OfficePhone
           $Info_var = get-aduser $Username -properties info | select info
           $Display_Name = get-aduser $Username -properties DisplayName | select DisplayName
                $Mail = Get-ADUser $Username -Properties Mail | select Mail
           $Desc = Get-ADUser $Username -Properties description | select description
            $Props = @{
                    User = $Event.Properties[5].Value;
                    TimeCreated = $Event.TimeCreated;
                    LogonType = $Event.Properties[8].Value;
                    DCName = $Event.MachineName;
    Workstation_address = $Event.Properties[18].Value;
    Title = $Title_var;
    OfficePhone = $Ofc_phone;
    Info = $Info_var;
    DisplayName = $Display_Name;
            Description = $Desc;
           EMail = $Mail
                $LogonRecord = New-Object -TypeName psobject -Property $Props
                $Result += $LogonRecord
    $Result | Export-Csv -Path $logFile -append -UseCulture -NoTypeInformation # Log it to CSV
    OUTPUT has values in this format in the CSV :-
    @{info=} @{description=abc} @{DisplayName=} @{Officephone=}
    @{Mail=[email protected]}

  • Word 2010 table sytles / copying tables

    When I copy a table from one document to another the formatting does not stay the same.
    I think the problem is that the copied table adopts the paragraph style being used in the destination document. I have tried to create a table style within the destination document but when I apply the style to the table it does not change the formatting.
    The only workaround that I can think of is to create a paragraph style for the table cells and apply this to the table after it has been pasted in.
    Are there any other suggestions?
    Thanks!

    Hi nivlektech,
    Based on my understanding, you want to keep the format of table when copied to another document.
    To resolve this issue, you can choose Paste Special from Home > Clipboard > Paste Option > Keep source formatting. It preserves all original formatting of the pasted selection.
    There is an article about Paste option, hope it’s helpful.

    If there is anything I can do for you regarding this issue, feel free to post back.

  • When I highlight my bank transactions and paste them on word, they do not retain the table format, why? answer in laymens terms please. I'm new to FF.

    I Have Windows XP and I use Microsoft Word to make a copy of my bank transactions. With IE the copy/paste always retains the table format. With FF it prints out as a continuing line.
    I had to open up IE to perform the action there.

  • How can I copy tables from Numbers to Pages without formula?

    hi everyone
    i need help
    How can I copy tables from Numbers to Pages without formula in the cells?

    Ok... I see your problem... when pasting into Pages, the formulas from Numbers are included. Perhaps this is really more of a Pages question (in which case I'm far from expert). A couple of ideas:
    • In Pages, try "Edit"/"Paste and Match Style", which may insert tab delimited cell values (no formulas). Then, if you want the table format back, select these newly pasted tabbed values and use Page's "Format"/"Table"/"Convert Text to Table"/
    • In Numbers, before copying, make a temporary table of the plain values first, then copy and paste that into Pages. To do this, select the range of cells you desire in the Numbers and "Edit"/"Copy". Then "Edit"/"Deselect All" and "Edit"/"Paste Values" and "Edit"/"Cut". Now just a table of values is on the clipboard and you can head over to Pages to paste.

  • Pages: How to copy & paste formats & remove links

    I don't see a "paint brush" feature and can't see how to remove links from email addresses that are automatically being applied in my spreadsheet like Pages document. I'd like to remove all links without having to do each one separately. After I copy a format in one cell, I can't copy the format in another cell because "Paste format or style" is dimmed.

    Suggestion:  select a column by the header working label (A, B, C... for columns), then set the format of all the cells int he column at once.  Or do the same for rows.  And yes, the display of tables in Pages 5.2 when you are working on it looks for all the world like an Excel spread sheet, or Visi-Calc.

  • Copy Field Formats into multiple fields

    I have a form that has a spreadsheet layout. Multiple fields need to be formatted as currency or date. Outside of using Java scripts is there a way to copy the formatting of one filed to multipe others? I want to avoid Java script because I'm lousy with it.

    Is it possible to have each field separated by a comma? Space
    delimiters won't work since not all cities & states are one
    word (ie. New York, New York) however a comma delimiter would allow
    you to use simple list functions to extract the data.
    If this isn't possible but the data is always in the format:
    city<comma>state<space>zip, then you could extract the
    city using comma as the delimiter and then extract the zip code
    using the ListLast() function with space as the delimiter which
    would leave you with the state as the remaining text. This would
    only work however if your data is consistently in the format
    described above.
    Failing this you could build two tables with states and
    cities and then use them to identify valid states and cities and
    extract the data that way.
    cheers

  • "copy with formating" not available

    when i create documents with adobe acrobate, then go to copy a paragraph, sometimes i have the option to "copy with formating", and sometimes it is grayed out.
    WHY?

    how do i implement it so that it is always with formatting.  My letters are made from word.  they do
    have headers in the document.
    Some highlights —
    You state that you use MS Word.
    If using a release prior to Office 2007:
    Before starting Word, set Adobe Printer as the local machine's default printer.
    Pre-2007 Word releases, when awakened from slumber latch onto the printer metrics of the default printer.
    Changing to Adobe PDF while in a Word session can be like changing horses mid-stream.
    With Office 2007, Word does not do this. So, less of an issue.
    For Headings - Always use MS Word's built-in Headings.
    For white space between paragraphs - configure the Style's space above/below.
    Do not use "Enter" for white space.
    For Tables - Ensure any table laid out with MS Word has at least one designated Header Row.
    Headers/Footers would be Artifacts by default. Some authoring applications make it easy to change this in the authoring file; some do not.
    If not, manually post-processing the Tagged output PDF would be called for.
    For Tag Management:
    Through Office 2007; use Adobe PDFMaker to output the PDF.
    Configure it for accessibiltity, "advanced options", & just use the default setup for Headings to PDF Bookmarks.
    With Office 2007 SP2 MS provides a Save As PDF - XPS.
    Use "PDF" - go into "options" (via button) to confirm configuration for accessibility support.
    Configure the Distiller job option used to embed fonts.
    Press Quality or High Quality Print are two "out of the box" job options that are pre-configured to support this.
    For any figures (images  - graphics) - in Word, consider accessing the dialog for entering Alternate Text & adding it.
    In Word, if the file contains graphic objects be sure to group them appropriately.
    If using Office 2010 -
    See: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/faq/
    Visit:
    http://www.appligent.com/adobeaccessibility
    Obtain the PDF document authored by Greg Pisocky of Adobe.
    Obtain the exercise files.
    A well-formed authoring file, with proper tag management provides a well-formed Tagged PDF output. Some requisite post-processing with Acrobat PRO seals the deal.
    But, this all that "accessibility stuff" you say!
    Yes, but the point is that a well-formed Tagged PDF does more than "accessibility".
    It does reflow for mobile devices
    AND
    It does export with format (which is what you want).
    Some study & practice required ("tanstaafl"); but, for simple MS Word content one could be "up and running" in a reasonable time.
    Be well...

  • How to straddled cells in a table format

    Hello,
    I've created a table format where the header straddles two columns and I've saved it every way I can think of(Update All, Global Update Options, etc.) but when I insert a new table using the format, it comes in with the header split into two cells.
    How can I have a table format that inserts a table with a header that straddles two cells?
    I'm running FrameMaker 8 on Windows XP Professional.
    Thanks,
    Tim

    Straddled cells are not stored as part of the table formats.
    If you need to use the same custom table, you can set up a sample table that you copy/paste from another document, from the same document (reference page), or use the AutoText plug-in (http://www.siliconprairiesoftware.com).

  • Copying Tables in Mail and Safari

    I have a MacBook Pro with OS 10.4.7
    I have not been able to select/highlight and copy a two-dimensional (rows and columns) table from either: (1) Mac email or, (2) The web, using Safari. The copied table gets reformatted into a single column, or text format, depending on the source. Same performance when I try to forward an email containing a table.
    My solution for tables on the web is to use the composer page in Mozilla browser which works fine. But this is not available for Mac email.
    I've asked three experts at the Apple store genius bar, at various times; as well as experts in the Stanford Mac users group. All attempts to show me an approach were unsuccessful.
    I do successfully use the Mac Print Selection software for text and figures, but it does not work for tables.
    A succesful approach to copy selected two-dimensional tables will be appreciated.
    Mac Book Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    The "table" on this web site has been prepared in HTML. You can confirm this by opening in Safari, clicking on View, and choosing View Source.
    I am not sure what you intend to do with any copy? With Mail 2.x, you could first click on Edit in Safari, Select All, and then copy (Command + C, for one way), and then while Composing an email message, click on Edit, and choose Paste as HTML. This produces a perfect copy. However, I can not assure you that every mail client that will receive such a message will handle it properly, and I can assure you that the SPAM filters that some people use through their ISP, will reject it, as they often do with any message composed of HTML.
    In addition, after selecting in Safari, and Copy, you can paste into a TextEdit document, and copy should be a faithful one. It can even respond to page size changes for changing line wraps.
    More info, please, about what you wish to do with the copied material, as far as saving.
