Copying text from emails and Word into a GoLive 9 webpage
Most of my web work involves copying and pasting text from emails and/or Word onto a page created in GoLive and uploading it to the web. In the past this has never been a problem with previous versions of GoLive. Now with GoLive 9, I constantly get extra characters appearing such as "" where almost every space is located between sentences. Foreign characters often appear as strange symbols whereas they copied over perfectly (French and German-type accents etc) before.
When I copy something I now have to go to a menu item [type/HTML/paragraph format] to turn "paragraph" off which helps get rid of the extra formatting not wanted (often everything appears in a large bold font, even though it wasn't like this in the original document). Also until I turn off "paragraph" I am unable to align any of the text as it has a mind of its own, regardless of what the webpage is specifying, (ie left alignment, centred etc).
Is there any way to copy and paste text without having to editor and reformat it - just as one used to do in all previous versions of GoLive?
That is an interesting idea but is still really a lot of unnecessary mucking around when GoLive 9 should do all this automatically with no fuss at all. I have been using GL since its early PageMill days and never had this problem before.
I understand what you mean by using a blank page - I might give it a try.
I found CS2 was getting slower and slower on my PowerPC. I now have an Intel iMac. Sometimes I would go to open a GL file and I could make a cup of tea waiting for it to open (admittedly it was a large file with lots of table cells and photos). Now I can open the same file in a few seconds using GL9. I looked up the Adobe support for 10.5 and it was listed as having issues which wouldn't be resolved. Photoshop Elements 4 was listed the same yet I had had no problems with it. A friend had huge problems with InDesign when he changed to 10.5. I guess it varies from computer to computer.
Only yesterday my GL9 refused to open and thanks to these forums, we found out that yesterday's Opera browser update was the culprit. Having had such quick success using these forums I thought I would give this annoying copying problem a try and see if there was some setting I could change or something I could do to correct the fault.

Copy text from PDF and paste to imessage
Before iOS7 I would be able to copy text from a PDF file and paste it normally into a text message or imessage. Now when doing the same thing it doesn't paste the actual text I copied, but it pastes as an html attachment. Have I changed a setting or is this just a bug that needs to be fixed? Please help.
I get the PDF in an email and open to view it. Not sure what the pdf opens in automatically, but that is the way I've been doing it since I've had the iphone 4 and haven't had issues until ios7.
I just now tried to opened a file in the default view and then switched it to open in Adobe reader and I can copy and paste normally. So now i have to do an extra step all the time? -
How do I copy image from web and paste into Open Office Document
Whenever I choose Copy Image from Safari and then paste into open office, I only get the image url and not the image. I am sure that I am not selecting Copy Image Address.
When I copy images from my iTunes album artwork and paste into open office it works fine.
Any thoughts?I have done the same thing using Firefox and it works just fine. It seems to be an issue with Safari.

How can I copy text from PDF and include the source filename in the pasted selection?
I'm a biologist and frequently cut-and-paste notes from PDFs of scientific articles. I name all of the PDF articles with their PubMed ID, a short unique identifier (e.g. 19397482.pdf). When I take notes, I will select a few sentences from the PDF and then paste them into a text editor for later reference.
Can anyone suggest a method or script that would allow me to paste the copied text with the Pubmed filename included in a single action? I would want the pasted output it to look something like this, with the filename appended to the end:

This would really help me to properly cite information sources during the writing process. I know there are bibliography managers that might be able to do something like this, but I prefer to read the PDF articles directly in Preview and select the text as I am reading.

BSP Error when copying text from email to Note section of a transaction
Hi All,
We are using CRM2007 for both the Interaction Centre and Sales Web Client.
When a user is creating a transaction in both roles, if one copies a piece of text from an email into the note section of a transaction at times the web client crashes and gives a BSP error.
It seems that cetain symbols are not recognised and cannot be converted when they are copied into the note section. The symbols I have noticed this to occur on are the dash symbol and the apostrophe (') symbol.
The symbols are fine when they are typed in directly, the issue only occurs if they are copied in.
The web client cannot handle this exception and falls over as a result.
However, if the text is copeid into the note section of a transaction in CRM online, any symbols it cannot convert correctly automatically convert to a hash (#) symbol.
Has anyone come across this issue before? Or have an idea as to how it could be resolved?
Even if it was possible for the webclient to convert any unknown symbols automatically into a hash (#) symbol like CRM Online so the web client would not fall over on save of a transaction.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply I guess we could not get the fiddler trace as we are getting this error while i am copying the data to excel file which is present on drive from SharePoint this is not on a browser. Correct me if I am wrong

How can I copy text from Pages and paste as Unicode?
I notice that if I write a Pages document on my iMac (this is Pages 09 running under OSX Mavericks 10.9.1) and copy text that contains characters from the "Mac Roman" character set (like the Greek letter pi for example, and some other mathematical symbols), if I paste it into a text file on a PC (I'm running the Mac with Windows via Parallels), then these characters don't show up correctly. If they were copied as Unicode characters then I don't think the problem would exist. I thought that Pages used Unicode, but it doesn't apparently apply to stuff that gets onto the Mac clipboard. I do know that if I export a whole Pages document it is possible for it to be exported in Unicode, but I just want to copy small bits of text like mathematical formulae and paste them into Unicode-compliant applications. Is this possible? There's nothing in the Pages Preferences to suggest that it is. Is there any solution to this?
TIATom, I'm sorry I think I have wasted your time. My initial experiments seemed to show that what I was trying to do didn't work, but now it all seems to work. No idea why. I think there is a problem somewhere, but not where I thought it was. I think what may be happening is that when the Mac clipboard sees some Mac Roman text, it converts and stores it in Unicode form, so things work as long as the receiving app is Unicode aware - or Parallels is doing the job for me, or Pages is. Good if this is true. The only issue then would be that, if a program for the PC is looking for characters by their encodings, it will have to use the Unicode ones to find things, whereas the equivalent code on a Mac will have to look for the Mac Roman encodings as well as Unicode.
Just to explain, I am not using a specialised mathematical formula editor, but I do expect my user to use the math symbols easily accessible on the Mac keyboard, particularly the Greek letter pi (lower case), division sign, less than or equal to, greater than or equal to, square root. The user can type text directly or paste it in from another application. On the PC side I am not using Microsoft Word but a program I'm developing that can create fields into which I can put text, similar I suppose to NotePad. Just to be able to be cross-platform, I expect users to use the built-in Windows Character Viewer or similar to make the same symbols accessible as in the Mac version.
If everyone was using Unicode the problem (if there is one) wouldn't exist.
I may well come back with a similar issue in the future, but my original issue, although the description was given in good faith, seems to be wrong. So I'm saying the problem is solved. -
Copying text from InDesign to Word: formatting problems
Hi all,
I have copied a large amount of text from an InDesign CS4 document into Word. I am now having formatting problems. The main problem is that where long words run over two lines, they are not appearing as hyphenated, and I am not able to stop them running over two lines. Inserting the cursor at the start of the second part of such a word and deleting simply deletes the preceding letter on the line above, as if there were no line break.
Any help much appreciated.
Jon CopeInstead of Copy/Paste, try selecting the text and exporting to .rtf (or if you have an active cursor, but no selection, theentire story will be exported). Open the .rtf in Word.

Copying text from PDF and no spaces
I get a pdf of Investors Business Daily from thier site. It is copy protected but I use PDFKey to unlock it, so I can copy text. When I copy text and paste it elsewhere often there are no spaces between words, I at first thought it had to do with the justification they used. However if I use Preview the spaces are there! So why the difference? I use acrobat pro vs. preview for other reasons. Is there some setting in preferences?
Second question. On this site, upper right is a box and magnifing glass. If I use that to search the forums I get results for ALL forums. Anyway to limit the search to just the forum your in?Steve,
I think you missunderstand. Since IBD posts most of the articles on their webpage, and that is not copy protected I could just do that. Also since I am not republishing the articles but merrily re-organizing them for my own use, this does NOT break copyright law (check laws about copying any copyrighted material for you own personel use).

Purpose of copying - for your own private use. check
Copies cannot be lent or shared with anyone. check
The work being copied must be a legal (i.e. non-pirate) copy. check
Beyond this there are also fair use and research and study laws, that, if they applied for my use, would still permmit copying the material.
That aside, I am NOT asking for help in using PDF cracking software. Infact, Preview copies the material from the original file just fine.
All that PDFKey does is flip one bit in the file, it does not change spaces or spacing between words, throughout the file.
I am just asking how can it be that copying the same material from one source file, using two different PDF reading apps, give different results. -
Problems when i copy text from Pdf and paste on Word
In Pdf documente the text is in perfect conditions, but, when i copy the text and paste in WORD document the character change into random crazy character like: "()*"*&!(!*"(!"(!)"( )*"()!*("!&("@*")(!*@"!*@(
how i fix this??I have the same problem when copying the PDF into a Word file. I tried Save as RTF doc. and it is still just symbols.
It could be a font problem, because it has some weird Gill Sans and Futura fonts. I am sending a picture as an example.
The option of exporting as Tiff and then applying OCR is interesting but still is kind of slow when i have a 100 pages document. If the fonts is the problem is there any way i could select the whole text and apply it a known font like Arial?

Applescript to copy cells from excel and paste into numbers
Hi community! I find myself needing your assistance once again. I'm new to applescript and it's my first scripting language. I'm trying to create a script that will copy a block of cells in an excel spreadsheet with multiple sheets and paste that info (preferably with a keystroke) into a numbers template. I've written a successful script to activate Excel, go to the sheet with the info, copy it, then open a Numbers template from My Templates. The problem I can't solve on my own is how to select the right cell on the right table on the right sheet and Paste and Match Style.
Some helpful info:
-I've changed my [Command+V] keystroke in Numbers to "Paste and Match Style" because this is a very common action for me
-The Numbers template is pretty big, but does open on the correct sheet for the paste

Copy text (from ID or Word) = image
If I try to paste text either from Word or ID sometimes (20%) appears as a graphic (the anchor icon)
And sometimes pasting inside a frame with fake text solves the problem.

An answer could be that you are using the ‘F‘ keys (F2=cut, F3=paste) and something goes to the Apple pasteboard. -

Probably, the font used isn't installed in your system, and the creator of the PDF file didn't embed it properly.

Very slow copying text from microsoft word
Any idea why copying text from word (office 2004) should be v slow? Copying same text in OS9 no problem (am currently copying text from client supplied documents into other applications ie. Quark, so having to go to another machine running previous OS + apps. seems a bit 'unnecessary'!)

Copying text from PDF to Pages
I am trying to copy text from a PDF file into Pages, after pasting the copied text into my new Pages document the spacing between most of the text becomes corrupeted,
for ex.
"Copying text from PDF to Pages" is imported as "CopyingtextfromPDFtoPages"

After reading your post, I tried to duplicate this problem. I opened a PDF, selected a sentence, then copied it to the clipboard. I then opened Pages, selected the blank template, then pasted in the text. It pasted perfectly.
Does this problem happen with all text in a PDF? With different PDFs?
