Correlation & Multi message processing?

Hi,
I have some queries about <i>Correlation</i> in XI.
1. What is correlation in XI ?
2. How is Correlation different from Multi message mapping ?
Thanks,
Snehal.

Ref checklist - http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/6d/94364296f1b26be10000000a155106/content.htm
Correlation is used in BPM to relate messages say based on a particular field. In case the correlation is broken a new instance of BPM is executed.
<i>2. How is Correlation different from Multi message mapping ?</i>
>>>
multi mapping is convertion of N message to 1 or 1:N or N:M

  • Correlated message processing and QOS in BPM

    Hi,
    I need one clarification w.r.t correlated message processing within integration process.
    Is there any relationship between the QOS and correlation w.r.t message processing inside the BPM ?
    In otherwords, will the QOS automatically changed to EOIO in BPM while processing correlated messages ?
    I appreciate your reply.
    Regards
    Venkat

    Hi,
    In case of multiple messages to same receiver the QOS will change automatically....EO to EOIO

  • Message correlation in BPMN processes

    Hi all,
    I need to implement a BPMN process (using Oracle BPM Suite 11.1.1.3) which has to wait for an intermediate message event. There is no previouly started conversation between a process and external client just an interface (e.g SOAP or JMS) available for a client to interact with a process for instance to send an additional information any time a client wants. Obviously a message must be correlated with a process instance. In BPEL we have a correlation set mechanism for this. But what should we do in case of BPMN processes?

  • Messages in multi-message format can only be sent to one Adapter Engine

    Hi,
    Using XI 7.0 SPS 12 I have a scenario Single Flat File->XI->Multiple Messages to ECC.
    Due to an annoying limitation/bug in ECC we have to send workorders in to be processed as individual transactions.  This means generating seperate calls to ECC from PI.
    I've adjusted my message map (No BPM) to split the source messages out, but when it calls the XI adapter to send them to ECC I get the following:
    <!-- Technical Routing -->
    <SAP:Error xmlns:SAP="http://sap.com/xi/XI/Message/30"
    xmlns:SOAP="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"
    SOAP:mustUnderstand="">

         <SAP:Code area="OUTBINDING">CO_TXT_MMF_ENGINETYPE</SAP:Code>
         <SAP:P1/>
         <SAP:P2/>
         <SAP:P3/>
         <SAP:P4/>
         <SAP:AdditionalText/>
         <SAP:ApplicationFaultMessage namespace=""/>
         <SAP:Stack>
         Messages in multi-message format can only be sent to one Adapter Engine
         </SAP:Stack>
         <SAP:Retry>M</SAP:Retry>
    </SAP:Error>
    I am generating multiple structures under
    messages/message1/xx_my_structure_repeated_at_this_level
    which gives the correct amount of payloads in moni.
    I believe this error is because the http/idoc adapters dont go through the AE and it is the AE that splits the multiple messages into individual calls.  Is there a clean workaround which doesnt involve BPM or intermediate writing to disk etc?
    Thanks
    James.
    Points awarded where appropriate.

    <i>I believe this error is because the http/idoc adapters dont go through the AE and it is the AE that splits the multiple messages into individual calls.</i>
    Perfectly correct
    <i>Is there a clean workaround which doesnt involve BPM or intermediate writing to disk etc?</i>
    May be writin a module.
    Otherwise to avoid other development time, go for BPM.

  • Stateful message processing for async scenario

    Dear all,
    my async scenarios:
    1. RFC -> PI -> File
    2. File  -> PI -> RFC
    Following facts:
    - The second message is a response to the first one. Both message are separted and async.
    - Scenario 2 can be send some hours after Scenario1.
    - A response should only be send if  a specified field in the message of first scenario is filled.
      For example: Message in scenario has a field <ResponseNeeded>YES</ResponseNeeded>
      This field does only exist in message of scenario 1.
    - Both message have an ID field (e.g. <ID>4711</ID>) which can be used to identified the
      corresponding message.
    Questions:
    - Is it possible to use stateful message processing for this scenario? Or do I need BMP + Correlation?
    - A service interface with pattern "stateful" can only be used synchronously. So is it
      possible to use this stateful for async message processing at least?
    I would assume that I will need a BPM that sends the messsage and keep alive until a
    response will be sends with same ID. After this I would check message of scenario1 and
    send (or even not) the message of scenario2 to receiver depending on <ResponseNeeded>.
    Thanks in advanced.
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
    Although BPM is possible here, I would not recommend you to use one here for the reason,
    >>Scenario 2 can be send some hours after Scenario1.
    This means you are keeping a process alive for so long which is not a good thing to do.
    You could end up with a lot of open/live process instances.
    Having said that, if you still wish to go ahead with BPM, the steps would be
    1. Receive async (RFC req) - start process, correlation based on ID.
    2. Switch step (Evaluate ResponseNeeded)
    branch 1(True): a.  Send asynch step - File
                               b. Receive async - File correlation - ID.
                               c. Send async - RFC call.
    branch 2(false) a. Send async -File
    3. Stop process.

  • No active correlations for message

    Hi,
    I am working on a BPM scenario. I Receive 3 different messages which I merge later in the process. I can see that the first received message is processed but the following messages get stuck in the inbound queue with a error message "permanent error in BPM" or something like that. Also I saw an error message which says "No active correlations for message".
    My BPM steps seem alright. I activated the correlation in the send step and used it in the receive step. Also defined it in the block as Local Correlation.
    sxi_cache status is "0". no problem there.
    Do you have any idea what the problem is?
    By the way after i tried it a number of times the inbound error throw another error.
    "Warning: EM-Memory exhausted:  Workprocess gets PR
    IV  / Permanent error i"
    Why do i get this error?
    Thanks

    Hi Arman,
    First of all,
    Run SWWL transaction in order to delete all the Work items involved with you Integration Process.
    Then,
    Check your correlation.
    If you recieve 3 different messages and you dont know the order they came, the correlation should be
    activated with the first message (first reciver step). But in the other two message you need to indicate which correlation must be used. I think you should use a fork with three receiver steps and in these
    reciever steps you need to activate you correlation and use the correlation.
    Hope this helps you.

  • How to Run Operating System Command Before/After Message Processing SAP PI

    Hi,
    We are trying to execute multiple commands via "Operating System Command Before/After Message Processing".
    When we use single command say for example cp or mv (copy or move) the commands get executed fine.
    eg: cp %F /var/opt/data/outbound/Test/Dummy.txt
    /this works fine/
    when we club commands together or try to redirect the outputs of commands, none of the commands get executed.
    eg:
    cp %F /var/opt/data/outbound/Test/Dummy.txt ; rm %F
    or
    wc -l %F > /var/opt/data/outbound/Test/Dummy.txt
    Is it possible to execute multiple commands or redirect the output  of commands without using a shell script? The PI server we are working on iis hosted on UNIX environment.

    Hi Harleen,
    try like this
    cp %F /var/opt/data/outbound/Test/Dummy.txt ; rm %F
    instead of semicolon try this
    (1) &
    command1 & command2
    Execute Command1 and then execute Command2
    (2) &&
    command1 && command2
    Runs the command2 only when command1 doesn't Complete successfully
    (3) ||
    command1 || command2
    Runs the second command if the first command had an error
    (4) ()
    (command1 || command2) || (command3 & command4)
    Defines the order in which commands are to be executed

  • Message processing failed if we receive attachments via E-Mail

    Dear ladies and gentlemen,
    we have follow proccess:
    We get some e-mails with an attachment. The E-Mail pick up the messages and send it to an RFC Channel.
    I changed the payload via the localejbs/AF_Modules/PayloadSwapBean :
    localejbs/AF_Modules/PayloadSwapBean Local Enterprise Bean TRANSFORM
    and the module configuration looks follow:
    TRANSFORM swap.keyName payload-name
    TRANSOFRM swap.keyValue MailAttachment-1
    it looks good and the payload would be swapped okay, and the mapping is also okay.
    But if we push the message to the RFC Adapter I get follow error message back:
    Message processing failed. Cause: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: com.sap.aii.adapter.rfc.afcommunication.RfcAFWException: error while processing message to remote system:com.sap.aii.adapter.rfc.core.client.RfcClientException: functiontemplate from repository was <null>
    So now my question: If is possible, that the adapter try to send also the Body of this E-Mail to the target system ? Because the
    Message ID is the ID from the payload of the E-Mail Body.
    It is possible to keep away the E-Mail Body from the payload?
    Because we need only the attachment. Or if I I have to setup via Bean anything in the RFC Adapter ?
    Thanks
    Kind reagards
    Stephan Kohler
    P.S. The PI System is an PI 7.1, the target system would be an R/3 4.6.  I haven't  any success with the RFC Adatper version 7.10 or 6.40

    > Message processing failed. Cause: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: com.sap.aii.adapter.rfc.afcommunication.RfcAFWException: error while processing message to remote system:com.sap.aii.adapter.rfc.core.client.RfcClientException: functiontemplate from repository was <null>
    >
    Is your attachment an XML? Is this XML structure is same as what you mapping source is? If that is the case, it should be okay. Is this interface working for non-mail sender? You might want to re-import the RFC structure in to PI again.

  • Message processing failed, FTP Receiver Adapter error...

    Hello all,
    We have a Idoc to File(FTP) scenario using PI.
    When PI try to send the file out to the FTP site, we get the following message in the communication channel monitoring and the file never reach the FTP site:
    Message processing failed. Cause: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: Error when getting an FTP connection from connection pool: com.sap.aii.af.service.util.concurrent.ResourcePoolException: Unable to create new pooled resource: ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect
    When we look at the detail display, we can see that the connection as been establish with the FTP site but the adapter is unable to deliver the file...
    Any Idea why?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi ,
    There are two things that you can do
    1- check the connection of FTP from command prompt. If it is acceebile from command prompt then check for authorization that wether you have access to post the file at FTP or not (Full access READ , WRITE and EXCECUTE)
    2- in your adpater change the connection mode from Per file transfer to "Permanent".
    Please feel free to reply on this thread if you are not able to.
    Thanks

  • File Receiver - before message processing *urgent*

    Hello experts,
    I have a scenario where i  need to execute a script in File receiver adapter.
    problem: "i send an xml file to target system, but as long as there is a .xml file in the directory, it should not send.
    He should wait and send only then when there is no .xml file in the directory."
    Is that possible with "run operating system command before" in the receiver adapter or i need for this issue BPM?
    Best wishes,
    FK

    Hi,
    File receiver adapter has a "Run Operating System Command Before/After Message Processing" feature, so you could use it for such purpose :
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/bc/bb79d6061007419a081e58cbeaaf28/content.htm
    I think it could be better to use a script than using BPM (it will save resources at XI level).

  • How to stop message processing based on validation?

    Hello experts,
    I have a requirement to stop message processing in the graphical mapping based on validation results. Here is the scenario - messages are translated using graphical mapping and sent to the target system. An RFC lookup will be done to ECC to determine if the data in the message is good. If the lookup returns a negative result, message processing should be stopped right there.
    I guess we can throw an exception from the mapping to force a failure and stop further processing, but that will cause the message to show up as failed on SXMB_MONI and cause alert emails to be sent out in PROD. Another option will be to supress creation of the root node itself, but I think the message will then fail in the subsequent "call adapter" step if the target schema has a min occurence of 1 for the root node (as in the case of IDocs).
    Is it possible to do it without using BPM?
    Thanks,
    Michelle

    Hi Michelle,
       If your requirement, to stop message processing without sending an alert?
    If yes, then you can have a alert rule, not to trigger alerts on a failure (And to raise an exception based on the result from RFC loookup).
    If your requirement is not to make the message fail, then you have to go for the ccBPM route.

    Whats mean by this ?. What is the status of my message ? Where I can monitor the message send from sender communication to the Receiver communication channel (If not in SXMB_MONI ?)
    Thanks,

    check adapter message monitor:
