Corrupt heap when using SQLException getMessage

Hi all,
I'm developing an application in Visual C++ 2005 Express.
I'm getting a weird bug when catching SQLExceptions, in the following code, I am catching the SQL Exception, I can get the error code and the error message using the method "what()".
If I try to use the "getMessage()" method I get the following error:
"Windows has triggered a breakpoint in DBLoader.exe.
This may be due to a corruption of the heap, and indicates a bug in DBLoader.exe or any of the DLLs it has loaded."
The code is the following:
     try
     env = Environment::createEnvironment(Environment::OBJECT);
     acConn = env->createConnection( dbUsername.c_str(), dbPassword.c_str(), dbString.c_str());
     normalConn = env->createConnection( dbUsername.c_str(), dbPassword.c_str(), dbString.c_str());
     catch (SQLException &ex)
          printf("exception %d\n", ex.getErrorCode());
          printf("exception %s\n", ex.what());
          printf("exception %s\n", ex.getMessage().c_str());
Any idea why this is happening?
Thx
João Santos

Hi,
I think the problem is on the getMessage() method, as you said, I've assigned the getMessage to a variable and after that, converted to char pointer, but still the same problem.
In the moment I call the getMessage method, I get the error of corrupt heap. You can check in the following code, I dont even get to see "passed get message" in the console.
     try
     env = Environment::createEnvironment(Environment::OBJECT);
     acConn = env->createConnection( dbUsername.c_str(), dbPassword.c_str(), dbString.c_str());
     normalConn = env->createConnection( dbUsername.c_str(), dbPassword.c_str(), dbString.c_str());
     catch (SQLException &ex)
          printf("exception %d\n", ex.getErrorCode());
          printf("exception %s\n", ex.what());
          ex.getMessage();
          printf("passed get message\n");
          string sqlExMsg = ex.getMessage();
          const char* sqlExMsgChar = sqlExMsg.c_str();
          printf("exception %s\n", sqlExMsgChar);
          return;

  • Corrupted Sound When Using IM Programs

    I have a HP Pavilion DV5z-1000.  When I use IM programs (so far I have tried Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo Messenger), they seem to work fine for a while with both sound and video.  However, after a few minutes, the audio becomes "corrupted".  I hear a horrible rushing, static-like sound.  This will stop after a few minutes but then reoccur.  I have a broadband connection, so I don't think the problem comes from a slow connection.  Additionally, the corrupted sound does not sound like the typical broken or distorted sound you get from a slow connection.  Interestingly, the person on the other end can still hear me and does not hear any of this cacophony.
    Any idea what may cause this?  I thought it might be Windows Live Messenger but then tried Yahoo and I get the same result.
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the link but it doesn't really solve the problem.
    I know it works in VLC, my problem is that I absolutely need to be able to use the clip(s) in iMovie HD because I'm filming a documentary and this is one of the most important interviews.
    Even if it means finding a way to split the audio in some other program then importing the audio file I'd be ok with that, but I so far I haven't been able to figure it out...any other suggestions?
    Thanks

  • 10.2.0.0 on windows -  impdp writes corrupted file when using sqlfile optio

    I've been trying to get a DDL script from an oracle export file created using impdp.
    I tried initially on 10.1, but impdp skipped huge sections of the package bodies.
    Now, I've tried on 10.2, but impdp still corrupts the various sections by inserting spurious newlines - they seem to be completely random, and from looking at the expdp dump file, the expdp tool is definitely at no fault.
    Has anyone else experienced this? Can someone please tell me a way of getting a valid DDL out using impdp - are there any patches available? Many thanks for your help!

  • ??? Arabic when using client_text_io webutil 10G R2

    Hi everyone,
    i am using A.S 10G R2, when using text_io to pull data fro database and write it to Text on the server, it gives the arabic correct without any corrupt, but when using webutil (client_text_io) the same scenario it gives a corrupt Arabic(question marks).
    i've cleared the Java cash and checked for NLS and fonts with the same results, is there any other config should be done on the A.S or on the webutil configuration??
    Thanks a lot

    well, it already set properly since I am getting the data as it stored in forms and reports (correct display), so what do you think? Is there some other issues should be investigated
    Thanks guys for the great help

    Hi guys, I have the same problem. I have an application EAR file with two modules (EJB and WAR starting in this order). The application can schedule a process via EJB timer. In this case restarting the server I receive the error above. If I change the modules start order --> WAR - EJB the server start correctly, but the application scheduler fails (the persistency is not working) with this error:

  • Adobe Acrobat V9 Professional crashes or causes PDFs to be corrupted when using Dragon software

    Adobe Acrobat V9 Professional crashes or causes PDFs to be corrupted when using Dragon software. I use Nuance Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11.5 to assist me when I add comments to a PDF. I also use it when making additions or changes to text.  When I use the two software programs together, Acrobat constantly crashes.  If it doesn't crash, an error occurs trying to save the file.  I entered 988 comments into a 158-pg PDF, only to find the file was corrupted and couldn't be printed. I also could not see the list of comments (click Show Comments).
    These problems do not occur if I don't use both products simultaneously.

    Never overwrite a clip that is used in Pr.  Give the
    modified/corrected/updated clip a new name and import that into your Pr
    project.  Then Alt+Drag the new clip on top of the old clip in the
    timeline to replace the clip instance.
    If import-then-drag isn't your style, then right-clicking the original
    clip in the Project panel and selecting Replace Footage will accomplish
    the same thing.
    This important rule applies in Encore as well.

  • Data Corrupted when using CREATE AS SELECT * FROM over DB LINK

    Hi ,
    I wonder if anyone has suffered a simillar issue as this:
    I have a DB Link Between a 10gR1 (Base install not patched) database on Windows 2003, and a 10gR2 (with latest Patch Database ) on Sun Solaris. The 10.1 DB is the SOURCE 10.2 is TARGET
    When using a statement like the following on the Target :
    CREATE TABLE a AS SELECT * FROM TABLE a@SOURCE
    The statement completes, however for some (not all) tables, the data content is seriously corrupted, I noticed this when trying to apply a UKey on the newly created table in TARGET. The data was completely messed up for around 600 out of 450000 rows, I could not easily tell which rows were messed up as it was the columns that build the UKey that were affected :-(
    The same happens if I precreate the table and use INSERT /*+APPEND*/ INTO AS SELECT.... etc
    I realise that using an unpatched 10.1 is not nessasarily advisable, however currently it is difficult for us to patch or upgrade the DB...
    If anyone has seen this before an/or has any ideas what might be the cause , I would appreciate any help I can get.
    Cheers

    The Problem Manifest itsself in that some fileds are created with incorrect Values, specificaly in easy to identify cases NULL where the original values where not NULL.
    These field do not contain special chars like ä or ß , so it does not seem to indicate a charset issue.

  • Audio Output Corruption when using USB MIDI keyboard controller

    recently, i'm getting intermittent corrupted audio output (short blips of distortion) while playing through my usb midi keyboard. i thought maybe some data got corrupted on the disk over time so i wiped the drive, reinstalled osx, installed all updates, hooked up usb keyboard and all worked fine. today, i plugged in the keyboard and the distortions have reappeared. i unplugged the keyboard and played with the Musical Typing- still distorted. i rebooted and tried Musical Typing- still distorted. I removed the usb midi keyboard device from Audio MIDI Setup, rebooted, and the distortions have disappeared when using Musical Typing. Connecting the keyboard causes the distortions to reappear. I'm at a loss.
    Any ideas?

  • Corrupt data error when using Windows backup on Oracle

    Our SAP servers include a SDLT internal tape drive that we use for doing a complete system backup.  When using Windows Backup we get the following message in the backup log:
    WARNING: Portions of "\oracle\T00\sapdata1\protd_2\PROTD.DATA2" cannot be read.  The backed up data is corrupt or incomplete.
    This file will not restore correctly.
    This is occuring on a couple of different systems but the wierd thing is when this happens in occurs on one Oracle drive in one system and the other Oracle drive on another system i.e. the G: drive on our TST sysytem and the E: drive on another.  The E: and G: drives contain the main Oracle datafiles.
    Has anybody ever encounter something like this and what can I do about it?
    Thanks;
    Gale S.

    Especially no backup tool would know about the
    fact
    that a Oracle block had been changed after it was
    copied.
    Now I have to contracdict
    There are backup tools (e. g. OpenFile Manager from
    Legato/EMC), that track the filesystem changes and
    makes sure, the backups are consistent in sense of
    filesystem blocks. We´re backing up some ORA
    databases (non-SAP, 7.3.4 and 8.1.7) for ages now -
    and I never saw this kind of corruptions.
    Well, these Backup-Tools do perform copies I/O-Consistent. That's different than DB-Block-consistent in the first place. Anyhow due to the fact that the DBMS do have a syncronizing between I/Os and writing out the blocks this leads both to consistent blocks.
    I just wonder, how the database would deal with such
    "inconsistent" files. Given the fact, you start a
    backup at filesystem block 0, the database is being
    backed up and a transaction is committed and
    something is written to block 100, 200 and 500. The
    backup is on block 300. If you now restore the
    database, it has the already commited block 500 in
    the file but 100 and 200 are not yet written in the
    database file. The redo will then find an already
    commited transaction on 500. What magic will tell the
    engine, that this is due to an online database
    backup? I mean, if you set the tablespace to backup,
    the engine "knows" the state - but if you just backup
    the file, the engine is unaware of that... I´m just
    curious how this is handled...
    Well the trick here is: we tell the database before we plan to copy the data. When a ONLINE backup is done, the tablespaces are set into BACKUP mode. This changes two things for us:
    1. The datafile headers of these tablespaces are not updated anymore although dirty blocks are still written out to these files. Since the control files that keep the SCN (system change number) are updated nevertheless, the database will know at recovery time that these files had been in online backup mode and do need recovery to become consistent again.
    2. The UNDO-information is not only written out to the UNDO/ROLLBACK-Tablespace but additionally to the REDOLOGS. So, for the time where the tablespaces are in BACKUP mode, we have all information needed to make a block consistent again - regardless if a transaction had been commited or rolled back - in the redolog. So a full recovery of all changes is possible with
    that.
    That's basically the "magic" behind this.
    If the copy of the datafile is done without this - well, then there's no magician in the world that would been able to get it consistent again. Online Backups with Oracle are only possible with BACKUP mode or RMAN (ok, and possible some 3rd party hacks...).

  • Photoshop 12.1 corruption when using gaussian blur

    Is there a fix for the Photoshop 12.1 corruption when using gaussian blur

    It's not a crash per se... when using the gassian blur filer at some but not all times the file will becomse  corrupted.. it comes up with large flat panels of color. After that point asnything done to the file is destroyed. You have to go back to the last saved versioin of the file. There are many notes on the web about this issue.. It has been occuring since I started with 12.1 about a year ago. Never occurred on other PS apps.
    You have to quite the app and re-launch. Then it works. There is no crash report to make.

    Hi,
    Just wanted to report back on some other findings.
    I'm not sure why, but I actually ran into what you just talked about. Again.
    I found this forum post about the exact same issue:
    Unexpected effects of <partitioned> option for external backing map
    (Note that the order of some elements in this shouldn't be allowed according to a strict xsd check)
    I also added configuration for <write-max-batch-size>, <write-delay> and <write-batch-factor>.
    That improved writing a lot.
    My final config now looks something like this:
    <read-write-backing-map-scheme>
    <internal-cache-scheme>
    <external-scheme>
    <nio-memory-manager/>
    *<high-units>1000000</high-units>*

  • Zsh cursor position corrupt when using $fg[] for colors and RPROMPT

    Hi,
    So far, in my zsh prompt, when using color I did something like:
    %F{yellow}
    in my PROMPT variable.
    Now, this seemed to not have worked on some computers (it did not change color, but showed {yellow}).
    So I change to using
    $fg[yellow]
    This works, but currupts my cursor position (it is not at the end of the prompt anymore) when (and only when) I also use RPROMPT.
    Can this be corrected? What is the most easier way to define colors that works?
    Simple example for prompt that does not work:
    PROMPT="$fg[yellow]>"
    RPROMPT="$fg[white]($fg[yellow]%T$fg[white])"
    Thanks!
    Nathan

    Enclose your colors with %{/%}, as in
    %{$fg[red]%}

  • Bug when using alias in sql query?

    I don't know if this is a problem related to the getString function of the MetaData class, or if it is something else. I'm having problems when sending a select query containing a specification for column alias to the execute function of the Statement class. Whenever the alias is more than 11 characters it crashes, saying the heap may be corrupt. When the alias is <=11 or there is no alias specified, there are no problems to get the name.
    After executing a query I am looping through the vector of MetaData objects retrieved from the ResultSet and its getColumnListMetaData to get information about each column, among other things the column name. The crash occurs when it comes to the execution of getString(MetaData::ATTR_NAME). As I said, this does not happen when no alias is set, it will pass by without any errors.
    I am using visual studio 2005, oracle 10g release 2 and the downloaded debug versions of occi for visual studio 2005.

    Hi,
    Is this what you are trying:
        try {
        Statement *stmt = conn->createStatement("SELECT ename AS aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa  FROM emp");
          ResultSet *rs = stmt->executeQuery ();
          vector<MetaData> md = rs->getColumnListMetaData ();
          int numCols = md.size ();
          cout<< "Number of columns :" << numCols << endl;
          string *colName = new string [numCols];
          int type = (int ) malloc (numCols);
          for (int i = 0; i < numCols; i++ ) {
            int ptype = md [ i ].getInt (MetaData::ATTR_PTYPE);
            if ( ptype == MetaData::PTYPE_COL ) {
              colName[ i ] = md[ i ].getString (MetaData::ATTR_NAME);
              cout<<"Column Name :" << colName[ i ] << endl;
          delete[] colName;
          stmt->closeResultSet (rs);
          conn->terminateStatement (stmt);
        catch (SQLException &ex) {
                    cout<<ex.getMessage()<<endl;
        }The above snippet works correctly for me.
    Rgds.
