Corrupted .JPG -- Perplexed / Confused and in need of Rescue

Yesterday, we shot 500 photos for the cover of our next magazine. The photos were shot in 2 rolls of 250 shots each. After each roll, we uploaded the files to my powerbook. All 500 images were successfully uploaded onto my computer as we scrolled through them in iPhoto while in the field.
Leaving the photoshoot yesterday afternoon my powerbook had nearly run out battery life. I simply shut the cover and left it for the night. This morning I opened the powerbook and a black screen appeared. I plugged it in and held down the power button for 10 seconds to restart it. The computer restarted. I opened iPhoto and asked me to "upgrade to 6.0" or "quit". I chose upgrade, but I wasn't connected to the internet so it just opened iPhoto.
At this point no images were in the iPhoto library but when I went into Documents>Photographs>iPhoto Library all the photos were in there. I tried opening the shot from yesterday's photoshoot but they are ALL corrupted. Half of them open with 1/4 of the image appearing and the rest blacked out or overtly pixelated. The rest of the files open to a dialogue box stating "The file may be corrupt or a file format not recognized".
Is there anything I can do to fix the images that are corrupt? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Disk repair: boot your system from an OS install disk... quit the installer... go to the utilities menu at the top of the screen... open it and select Disk Utility... select the disk... click on the "Repair" button.
I'm still trying to get a feel for what's going on, and I'm a little confused by your description. Removing photos from an iPhoto Library doesn't trigger a rebuild of the photo database, it only makes the database unreliable. The rebuild needs to be initiated manually.
Since you've determined that some JPGs are corrupt, then that is an issue separate from a corrupt iPhoto database -- when you open an image in Preview or PhotoShop (or some other 3rd-party viewer) then iPhoto is not a part of that evolution. Are you certain the images that seem corrupted are in fact your JPG images, and not thumbnails that iPhoto may have created? Describe the folders that these images were found in.
Since you have apparently separated the images from the iPhoto database, resolve the two problems separately. When you get iPhoto to open and run normally, then you can reimport photos to the database.

This is cause by the way the App Store checks to see if an application is installed on your system.
Basically when an app is installed it is in the Applications folder and this is where the MAS looks for them. So it looks at your purchase history for the apps you bought and looks in the Applications folder to see if they are installed. If an app is in your purchase history but not in the Applications folder the MAS says you need to install it.
For normal apps this works fine but the OS doesn;t install into the Applications folder. So the MAS sees you have Mountain Lion in your purchase history but it's not in the Applications folder and so it says you need to download it.
Hopefully one of these days Apple wil fix this.

Rather than do that, which means starting over from scratch, losing all your edits, organisation and so on, why not simply use iPhoto Library Manager to revert the Library to the older version? Easier, less destructive.

If you really want to start over: you can access the Originals folder simply by going to your Pictures Folder and finding the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.

I was looking around, because nowwhere before does it mention %temp%\AdobeDownloads\ Based on the error that comes back, I decided to turn on hidden files in Windows (Just type Hidden Files in the searchbox) and go see this AdobeDownloads folder. It is not there. In other threads relating to this issue, they talk about files in the
C\User\Username\Appdata\Local\AAMUpdater\1.0\ folder.

It is not strange that the AdobeDownloads folder is not there, since the Adobe Application Manager never has a chance to start. This is NOT a notwork error in the classical sense because I am able to download InDesign and all other Updates from Windows, visit every website.
Don't get me wrong, I fully realize that VM's are not supported. But I can name you 20 consultants who ALL run in a VM. Heck, even I ran this SAME Windows 7 version, with Parallels 7 AND 8, half a year ago, untill I had to start fresh 3 weeks ago. I CAN download InDesign, install it and activiate it with my Creative Cloud account, but I can't update them. The error is above.

Let's try a repair install of iTunes first.
Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", click "Change" and then click "Repair".

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

I'm so confused and need a miracle right now.

I'm not sure where to begin but I'm really frustrated and ready to scream about now. I can't for the life of me figure out how to upload my site using Cyberduck onto my server.
Today I was on live chat with my service provider and I've talked to him many times and there is something missing that I'm not getting. I know deep down it is really simple but it isn't coming together.
Hope this makes sense.
Okay I have a domain name www.splurgesisters.com and I was told by my provider that everything for the site should go in the /www folder. So on Saturday I pulished my site (it is just a couple of test pages to see if I can figure this out) using the publish to folder option and I named my folder Splurge Sisters 2. So I find out that because this folder Splurge Sisters 2 was in the folder /www it wouldn't work. So my provider tells me to name the folder /www/SplurgeSisters2 and upload it.
I'm using Cyberduck and I have a /www thing that I dump stuff into on Cyberduck, so I try to name the folder /www/splurgesisters (I've since renamed it) and it says no such directory exists. When I look inside this folder of SlurgeSisters I see an idex.html and another folder called splurgesisters.
So what in the world do I want to name my folder to put into the /www file in the Cyberduck FTP? so that /www on my service provider will read it. Is it possible to drag all these files outside the published folder individually and upload them. This folder thing really has me confused.
I'm confused and trying to figure this out but just don't get it. Is Cyberduck a bad FTP server?

Thanks for your advice. Here is what I did and honestly I'm still confused as I'm learning all this. I went and used Captian FTP and uploaded two folder to my site, one called SplurgeSisters and the other called /www/splurgesisters today when I tried my site nothing came up. So after contacting my service provider he said he would redirect the SplurgeSisters one and that everything from now on would go in that folder. So the next folder I upload should be called /www/SplurgeSisters according to him. I'll have to try it soon and see if that works.
Do you know why when I uploaded SplurgeSisters onto my site it showed up as SplurgeSisters_ and I didn't add that _ in there. I'm guessing it's because all the names inside of the pages had About_Us etc.

I'm what you call a "Jack of all trades, Master of none". I've dabled in technology since I was a kid, but have never taken any formal classes or had any training on anything. I learned how to use Photoshop, Fireworks and Dreamweaver on my own over the years. Pretty much one of those trial and error kind of guy, but it has opened up many opportunities for me.
Well, the company I work for recently decided to do some advertising at a local horse race track. One of the ways we'll be advertising our business there is on a 20 ft. tall by 40 ft. long billboard. Knowing that I've done some print advertising for them in the past, they asked me if I could come up with something to have printed to put on the billboard and of course I took on the challenge.
I already have the perfect idea in mind for the billboard and all I need to do is implement it. The only problem I have is that I've never had to make something for that big of print. So my question is, should I be using InDesign CS6 for this, or is this something I should use Photoshop CS6 for?
If someone could point me in the right direction I would really appreciated. The worst part is that I need to have this done ASAP as the racing season starts on Monday.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You will absolutely want to contact the billboard company to find out the technical specifications. After having worked at an outdoor advertising company, I can share a few tips with you.... Scale is a tough question to answer because some companies use a 1 ft = 1 in. scale and others have a different scaling method. Some will provide templates either in PDF format or in all of the programs they work with. Try checking the printer's website, if there's no info, you'll want to get in touch by phone - which is usually a good idea the first time you work with a printer anyway.
Most companies will accept all the major file types: PDF, EPS & JPG included, but you want to make sure before you get too far into the project. Sounds like you have an idea in mind, so what I really wanted to mention to you was that billboards are unique design-wise. You'll want to keep in mind that you only have about five seconds to get your message across and it needs to very legible. If the sign is lit, then you want to make sure to use a color combo that will work well both day and night, and in different lighting conditions in between. Certain color combinations work better than others as do some fonts. As Peter mentioned, billboards are sometimes produced in panels. You will want to know whether the billboard you are designing for is going to be produced in panels or in one vinyl sheet. Back at the company I worked for (keep in mind this was quite a few years back), the cost of the billboard was affected by how many colors were used in each panel of the billboard, so this may be a good question to check on as well.
For some good tips on design and to get an idea of the types of specifications you'll be dealing with (but again, be sure to ask YOUR printer for their specs), take a look at these two links from Lamar Graphics. I don't have any connection with the company, but they are all over the U.S. so they are a good starting reference point.

This is the step that I took after inputting my signature.
On the right, after saving my document, I click "Get Others to Sign." I was confused because it says that it's powered by EchoSign. Like I stated before, my clients are able to sign this document when I send it to them, but it is returned to me with their signature (not in the signature field, but at the end of the document), and my signature is missing. I tested this on myself - my signature is missing when they receive it.

We currently have an adobe air application that we are using for digital signage, and plan to continue developing it further, we are using the AIR application updater framework but i'm totally confused now with 2.5 -> 2.6 -> 2.7 how to keep our network up to date aswell as continue to develop our app with ongoing versions of flash,
I downloaded the trial of cs5.5 to check it out, opened our CS5 application tried to test/publish and it now comes up with

I've tried changing the updateConfig.xml and the online update.xml to all sorts of combinations 1.0, 2.0, 2.5, 2.6 etc none of them fix the issue, and it's super hard to find information on the plan / how to keep it all working
Some background info:
We currently build a pc install the latest AIR runtime and then send the computer to an onsite location with our application preinstalled, and we currently keep it up to date using the AIR application update framework. We have 50 - 60 computers running the app globally and we need to be able to keep them updated remotely
My main questions are:
How can i continue to update our app if i develop using future versions of flash?
Can i update these apps to 2.6 etc without breaking them/causing errors?
Does the AIR Runtime version update itself eg in the background or is it stuck with whatever we preinstalled on the box?

On page 101 you can notice process: Set Username Cookie, that I do not know how it came to this page.
You can test login and logout with 2 additional users/passwords: 77777/change1 and 6666/broker2 and you can see that if you login and logout, on next login you have previous user set. If you by some chance have same password for both users then you are transparently logged as previous user not the one that enetered user id.?
I guess error that you may get are not important for this issue, so you can ignore them.

I am so confused. I have CS 5.5 Design Standard running on a Windows 7 computer. I have the serial number. The problem is, I stupidly uninstalled Acrobat Pro and now need to reinstall it. What do I do? I downloaded Acrobat Pro X from the download link on the Adobe site but it won't take my serial number. I am guessing because the serial number pertains to the entire Creative Suite, not just Acrobat.

Correct. You need to use the full suite installer.

I am getting "Not Responding" message. The fix in the Help is confusing and doesn't seem to match my setup. Using Windows 7 & firefox 7.0.1

The problem started after last update. I tried following the directions in firefox Help without success. They were confusing and the instructions did not match what I was seeing on my screen. I need a simple quick fix thank you.

There could be more than one reason for such messages.

Yes, that is the number. And what version of Aperture have you installed? The same version as on your old Mac?
But it don´t work on my new Mac...
In what way does it not work? Does it require you to enter a licence number for Aperture 2 as well? That will be necessary, if your serial number is an upgrade serial number. Then you will have to enter all previous numbers as well.
Or does Aperture not accept the number as correct? Then check the spelling; some letters are easily confused like "I" and "1" and "O" and "0". Do not use the number pad to enter the numbers.

Mail and Calendar need to close/reopen in order to connect

Recently, my MacBook Air has been taking some time to connect to the Internet (via my Airport) upon waking from standby mode. It connects to the Airport router immediately and all indicators suggest that I'm connected to the Internet, but I can't get to Google, etc. for about 45 seconds. Though this is not a major problem, it does take considerably longer than usual to connect to the Internet. Further, it seems as though Mail and Calendar need to be shut down and reopened for both applications to connect to the web, Cloud, etc., even after Safari kicks in and I can surf the web.
My MacBook Air is up to date with all software, etc. and I'm on 10.8.3. My other devices (iPhone, iPad) seem to connect fine after "waking" them standby.

I've had my share of problems keeping ARD clients visible. Only thing I can think to suggest off the top of my head, is that you have one of the systems set to a different IP (as it looks like they are set alike), this may be confusing ARD.
