Hello.
I'm having this issue in OKTZ when adding new cost component in an exisiting cost component structure. it says "maximum number of cost fields reached (40)".

Hi Andrew,
When yo create the Cost Components in the Cost Component Structure, inside each Cost Component, there will be properties relating to whether the Cost in that Cost Component is Fixed / Variable, relevant to Inventory Valuation or not etc.
To view these options...Go to OKTZ, select the line of your Cost Component Structure, double click on "Cost Component with Attributes" in the left side navigation. Now, you will be able to see  the list Cost Components on right hand side. If you double click on any Cost Component, you will see the properties of that Cost Component.
There, you can see ther radio buttons "Variable Costs" and "Fixed and Variable Costs".
Now, in Standard SAP, you will be able to create a maximum 40 Cost Components. The behaviour of the system goes like this.... If one Cost Component is only "Variable Cost", it will take the space of one Cost Component out of the maximum 40. If  one Cost Component is of "Fixed and Variable Costs", then it will take the space of two Cost Components out of the maximum 40. That means, if all of your Cost Components are "Fixed and Variable", then you will be able to create only 20 Cost Components.
You can find the SAP explanation regarding this in the IMG Documentation...
SPROControllingProduct Cost ControllingProduct Cost PlanningBasic Settings for Material Costing--Define Cost Component Structure. Check the IMG Documentation there to find the following text...
Structure of the Cost Components in a Cost Component Split
The cost components are listed in a cost component structure that can contain up to 40 cost components (cost fields).
You can create up to 40 cost components that contain variable costs.
For cost components that contain full costs, the system creates a second cost field for the fixed costs. This means that you can create no more than 20 cost components that are full costs.

    Hi Guru's
In the Cost Compenent Structure T.Code:OKTZ I Select Primay Cost Component Split,
I Excuted Two Standard Cost Estimates one is with out Primary Cost Component Split, and Secound one with Primary Cost Component  Split
But I can't see the Difference for both Standard Cost Estimates....
where we can see the Diffierence exactly for with and without Primary Cost Component Split...

    Hi Srinu,
Go through the following thread to understand the purpose of Primary Cost Component Split...
    Re: Primary cost component split
If you have understood the details from the above thread, go through the following...
If you want to go for Primary Cost Component Split, the following sequence MUST be followed...
    1. Activate Primary Cost Component Split in OKTZ,
    2. Mention your Cost Component Structure name (for ex: 01) in your Version Maintenance in OKEQ
( In OKEQ, select your Version, Go to Controlling Area settings, go in to Settings for Fiscal Year. In "Price Calculation" Tab, you will find the field for Cost Component Structure).
    3. Upload the Cost Center Planning Data using this Version.
Now, what you might have tested is that, you have done the Cost Center Planning as usual ( I guess you missed the above sequence, especially point no.2) and you run the Std Cost Estimate. After that, you have Activated the Primary Cost Component Split and you might have run the Std Cost Estimate. Obviously, you will not find any difference in that case.
I have used Primary Cost Component Split in couple of my implementations and it worked fine.
Revert back if you need further explanation in this regard....

  • Activity types&Cost Component Structure?

    Hello All,
I would like to ask following**
*Can production cost centers have three activity types Produced Quantity, Machine Hour, Labor hour? Will the confirmation of these tree act types on work center form Production Cost of Material. Question is regarding line whish will have name Production Cost in Cost Component structure /OKTZ/*
Can only Primary Cost Component Split for Preliminary Costing be set and will it be visualized as itemization during precosting in CK11N? Which assignments regarding this have to be done?**
    Best Regards,
    Poly P**

    Hi
I guess you need to educate your users a bit as to how the costing works as well as what is possible in SAP
Having these many itemizations is neither possble, nor recommended
The expenses like Discounts, Maintenance, Supporting costs etc are intended for analysis at Trial balance level.... These things are overheads from costing point of view.... So, you need to logically group them
Material consumption cost is very much possible provided the material components are part of the BOM
Direct Costs like Labor, electricity - you need to be create activity type for them.. ANd maintain a plan rate in KP26 for the same... You can not show original cost element in itemization for them
Other costs mentioned by you are indirect costs - Which are absorbed as overheads... Either as a % of other costs (Material + labor + electrivity) or as a rate per hr of Labor, etc

  • Use of cost component structure

    hello gurus
what is use of cost component structure and what is the difference between cost sheet and cost component structure .after preparation of cost sheet we going to assign the costing varient like that after preparing the cost component structure where we assign this
    thanks
    prudhvi

    Hi!
cost component structure is to split your total costs to material ( direct & inditiect), labour cost, over head costs in order to identify seperate costs for analysis purpose. transaction code is :OKTZ.
first you have to define cost component attributes , then assign cost elements for each attributes and then assign this structure to your company code.
while executing the standard cost estimate of materials,  total cost will be displayed by splitting the costs according to cost component structure.

  • Error message: cost elements have no cost component structure

using transaction KSII for the report; we didn´t change any settings, but we get this warming in the system.
We don´t know what happens, because it was ok in december, but know we have this warning.
The version for the year 2009 is maintained.
    Any ideas?

There might be some new cost elements which would incurred actual costs which were not available in 2008 as well as in Cost component Structure.
Anyways try maintaining the cost elements in Cost Component structure.

  • Cost component structure - cost elements for FERT and HALB (TC:OKTZ)?

    Hi all,
our cost component structure has the following structure (TC: OKTZ):
    1 Raw materials
    2 Human ressources
    3 Production
    4 Material Overhead
    5 Production overhead
    6 external activity
(this settings are conform with SAP standard - copy from cost comp. structure 01)
To cost comp 1 "raw material" we assigend the relevant (primary) cost elements (consumption raw mat, e,g, steel, wood...).
My question is: In case we insert/post e.g. a semi-finished product to the production order from stock (accor. bill of material), where (in which cost comp.) do I have to assign the relevant cost element? I guess this should be the account "inventory change unfinished product? (maintain in TC: OBYC for transaction BSV according val. class)
Is it correct to assign this cost element to cost comp structure "raw material", because actually it is a semi finished product which is picked up from stock to convert /process further? To problem is, if this cost element is not assigned I get an error in CK11N/CK40N
I hope my wording is not to abstract...
    Thanks in advance...
    best Regards

    Hi..
You don’t need to consider the cost element of production order settlement and production notification.
Cost component structure need the cost element of production order’s debit.

  • OKTZ - Cost Component Structure

    Good day.
I have some doubts regarding cost element assignment to the cost component structure. I understand that I should consider those cost elements that represent internal activities, external activities, material costs and overhead, however I am not sure if I shall also consider the cost element of production order settlement and production notification (the latter correspond to the account that credit the production order).
    Regards.

    Dear Sir,
System is showing the GL account  is not relating the cost element a/c ,The concern account belongs to Sundry receivables account.
The configuration is done correctly with  all expenses GL a/c in OKTZ as well WIP accounts assigned corrctly in  OKG8.                How the system is showing this account which i am not understanding.
    Please advice to resolve.

  • Standard Report for Materials Cost Component Structure - PO Condition Type

    Dear experts,
We are using below cost component structure (CCS) for materials:
    - Direct materials
    - import duty
    - import handling
In which, all those above CCS are achieved through below condition type in Purchasing Info Record. When doing the standard cost estimate through costing run, we have successfully grouped all those condition types into their respective CCS. The problem is, while executing the standard report of "result of costing run" (S_ALR_87099930), the sytem groups all those three CCS into CCS "Direct materials" only.
I have tried different standard layouts, but still got no way to show all those CCS separately in the standard report.
Please kindly suggest what approach should i take
    Thank you very much

    Hi
Check cost elements assigned to structure.  For this go to transaction code OKTZ and select your CCS and double click on Assignment Cost Component-Cost element interval.

  • New Cost Component Structure in new Costing Variant

    Hi gurus,
i created a new costing variant (to be used for planned prices, for budget purposes), then a new cost component structure.
Now the system (transaction OKTZ) doesn't allow me to assign the new cost component structure to the new costing variant forcing me to mask the costing variant with ++++.
But the aim, for me, is just assigning the new cost component structure to the new costing variant only for a company code and only for a plant.
Does anybody know how i can reach the goal? Am i missing some step?
Thanks in advance for the collaboration,
    Best regards
    Enrico

    Hi Utenza
You can very well achieve this
    1. First of all ensure that a masked entry exists i.e. ++++ in Comp Code field, Plant Field, Costing variant Field and assign the Prmary cost comp str here
    2. Then, coming to the new costing variant and new cost comp str,
    a. Enter ++++ in the comp code field
    b. Enter your plant name in the Plant Field (and not ++++)
    c. Enter your new costing variant here.. (This should be the costing variant where costing type is not 01)
    d. Assign your new cost comp structure here against this costing variant

  • Impact of Cost component structure on PA Transfer structure in SAP

    Hi All,
We were using a single Operating concern and Controlling area for existing company codes. Now, we got a new company to be created all together a new company with the same chart of accounts.
    1. We have created Operating concern, COA, Company code..... and then completed the PA Transfer structure of FI-MM in KEI1
    2. I have created a new Costing variant in OKKN
    3. I have created the Cost component structure in OKTZ and assigned the new company code to it.
When i go back and checked the PA Transfer structure for FI-MM, i see everything showing as blank.
I have no idea the entire config got deleted.
Do you have any idea how it happens and why it happens please?
Also, will there be any relation b/n OKTZ and KEI1 and sequence to customize?
    Hope you understand my query.
    Appreciate your early response.
    Thanks,
    Narasimhulu

    Hi Ravi,
    Thanks for your response.
I have created the FI-MM PA transfer structure for the new Controlling area. But after completing the Cost component structure and came back to check the PA Transfer structure, i was surprised since everything to deleted.
I have no idea if we need to follow a sequence while doing these two activities (KEI1 and OKTZ).
    Thanks,
    Narasimhulu

  • Assign the cost component Structure to Plant/Co Code

    hi
can u tell how can i assign the COST COMPONENT STRUCTURE TO THE PLANT AND THE CO CODE...
    REGARDS

    Hi,
This is part of Product costing configuration and done with T-code OKTZ.  Here, there is a separate diaglog for Assignment of Org units --> cost component structure.
Here, for a particular co. code and all the plants under this Co. code or for only a certain plants and further to a specific costing variant the assignment is done to the cost component structure effective from certain date.
    Good Luck!!!
    Thanks and Regards,
