Costing data in Accounting Tab

Hi,
When I create a task and have a role assignment, it does calculate the costing based on rates defined but as soon as I assign a resource to the role the cost data goes away.
Can anyone help me understand this costing process? It works fine at the task level and role level as far as resources are not assigned to them.
We need to assign resources to use CATS for time booking. It seems I'm missing something here.
Pl. help.
Thx/DS

Hello DS,
As I have mentioned earlier there are two ways of doing Accounting in cProjects, Task based and role based.
For Task based accounting you need to define Cost / Revenue rate for Task type in customizing. When particular task type is used while defineing a task, in Additional data tab of that task you will get this default cost / revenue rate. Also at project header lever on Additional data tab you will require to define Org. Unit.
There are further two ways to do Role based accounting.
a) Without staffing: Here in customizing you need to define Cost / Revenue rate for particular Role type in define project role type. So when you create a Project role using that project role type, you will get this default cost revenue rate in Costing tab page.
b) With Staffing: Here in Define project role type you need not define Cost / Revenue rate, instead you define the same for a Resource in tcode : BP. So whenever a Project role is staffed with the Resource, accounting is done.
For both scenarios you need to define Org. Unit as mentioned earlier.
Hope this clarifies your doubt.

Niraj

  • Display Costs on Accounting Tab in Company Code (object / Project) curerncy

    Hello Forum Experts,
    We have this major issue whereas teh costs on the Accounting Tab are shown in Controlling Area Currency.
    It seems this is the standard cProjects behaviour.
    What changes / enhancement do we have to implement to ensure that the costs are shown in company Code Currency.
    For example: Controlling Area Currency is USD.
    There is a branch of teh company operating in Gemany - it has its own company Code. So they create projects in Germany and would expect to plan and see teh costs in cProjects in Euros instead of USD's.
    How can we solev this problem. It is quite amjor and most probably the foreign comapies will not use the system as it amkes no sense to them to plan / see costs in another cuurency than their own...
    Thank you,
    LT

    Hi LT,
    The costing in cProjects is always carried out in Controlling Area currency.
    Make modifications in the following Class to display the costing in cProjects in Company Code Currency  :
    1) Class: CL_GUI_EASY_COST_PLANNING
    Method: CONSTRUCTOR
    Here set Object currency "1" as Default .
    2) Class CL_R3_OLR3_INTERNAL_ORDER
    Method GET_REPORTING_DATA

  • Accounting tab isn't there

    Hi Gurus,
    I created a material code, but when I tried to include the stock the system tells me that accounting hasnu2019t been maintenance, I checked the material master data and accounting tab is not there, my question is; how can I put the accounting tab in this material, let me know if more info is needed.
    Thanks

    Dear Antonio Rodriguez
    Inorder to include certain or exclude certain fields in material masters ..................
    You go to OMS2 select the respective material type (FERT) ,double click on that.Then a screen will be appeared here you can see the tab called "User departments" in that select the accounting (if you want to see this tab in respective material master).If you don't want  respective tab in material master don't select the tab in OMS2.
    Please let me know if you have any further clarifications

  • Change COPA from costing based to account based

    dear friends,
    one of our clients is upgrading from 4.6C to ECC 6.00.  as part of this upgrade they want to change the COPA from costing based to account based.
    Whether this can be done?
    If yes, how it can be done and what all precautions need to be take care of?
    If no,  what are the reasons due to which it should not be done?
    thank you for the help.
    bajee prasad

    Hi,
    Let me try to answer to get full points from you. It is a very tricky question.
    You can add Account based COPA in addition to Cost based COPA. It is advisable not to delete Cost Based COPA.
    Go to Tr. Code KEA0. In the Data Structure Tab, click the change button. Now you can tick the Account based type of PA.
    Then go to Environment tab, click the activation button. System will run for some time and both the types of PA gets the environment. These changes are not transportable. You need to do it by opening the system. You can test this in your quality system and then try in Production. I caution that you need to take a backup of the system so as to meet any worst scenario. All the best.

  • Subsequent / re-activation of Cost of Sales Accounting

    We are currently engaged at a new SAP customer (ECC6) that does not currently require COS Accounting to be activated /functional area functionality, but might require it at a later stage / subsequent to the initial go-live.
    Based on the contents of SAP Note 740519, it appears that when COS Accounting is subsequently activated, the functional area cannot be repopulated for historic data when using ECC6.
    QUESTION:
    Should the customer decide to subsequently activate COS Accounting at the start of a new fiscal year (i.e. post go-live), all the P&L data will be populated with the functional area from the start of the new fiscal year. However, what about the carry forward balances for the Balance Sheet accounts? Is there a way to repopulate the "carried forward" balances in the Balance Sheet with a functional area, else the balance sheet will always contain incomplete functional area data for the carried forward balances.
    Also, please advise if there is a program available to repopulate functional areas subsequently in the event of a subsequent activation of COS Accounting. If not, if the customer activate COS Accounting even though they don't require it at present, because it appears that you cannot change the functional area assignments once updated with transactional data?
    As such, what is the recommended course of action:
    1. Only activate COS Accounting when required, but resulting issues with updating historic data with functional area.... OR
    2. Activate and configure pre go-live, but then cannot change functional area assignments once populated with transactional data.
    I look forward to hearing from you.
    Kind regards,
    Dolf

    Hi Dolf
       I have exactly the same requirement now with respect to cost of sales accounting. My client went live a couple of months back and now wants to activate Cost of Sales Accouting.  I have the same question of how to populate the existing historic data with the functional areas.
       What did you do when you had this issue? Did you find out any way or work around to update the historic data with functional area? What approach did you take during your implementation?
        Your response would be highly appreciated and rewarded.

  • Period accounting vs Cost of Sales accounting

    Hello all,
    <b>Could someone explain to me the difference between Period accounting and Cost of Sales accounting? Where is period accounting configured in ECC 6.0?</b>
    I am trying configure PCA. The client wants the Profit centers to be setup product-wise. They have 3 products: a) a handheld GPS device, b) the accessories for the GPS device, c) and the subscription. I have setup 3 profit centers according to the 3 products.
    <b>Does either cost of sales accounting or period accounting come into the picture in my scenario? What I mean is, do either of the two methods have to be configured? And if so, why?</b>
    I have read in some places ("Configuring FICO" by Hurst & Nowak) that preparing PCA to accept actual postings can be very simple or complex. On the simple side, all that is required is to activate the fiscal year control parameters, create the proper document types, and define the necessary number ranges. For more complex solutions, additional account assignment may be maintained, and internal goods movement can be defined.
    <b>My client is just looking for a plain vanilla implementation of PCA at this time. Does that affect whether we use period or COS accounting?</b>
    Thanks in advance! Points available.

    Hi,
    Do check out the following documentation :
    http://help.sap.com/bp_bblibrary/600/html/N74_EN_GCC.htm
    Cost of Sales Accounting
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005vp/helpdata/en/b3/c3e040852f712ae10000000a155106/content.htm
    Period Accounting
    In period accounting, the performance of a particular business unit (profit center) - that is, its revenues, changes in inventory and capitalized services - is set off against the total costs of the period. This occurs at the G/L account level and adheres to the formal structure of Financial Accounting. This gives you a uniform structure of report data and lets you reconcile the data of cost and financial accounting on the basis of cost elements.
    Hope this helps.

  • Cost of Sales Accounting

    Functional Area "0100" assigned in one General ledger Which one the requirement of 2 company, But Functiona Area should be derived from respective object ( Cost center/ Order etc)  for  one company which is located in another country.
    How it can be achived?

    1) activate cost of sales accounting (FI/global settings/company codes/cost of sales accounting ...
    -> interesting is you can choose between in preparation en production. The first one means the' functional area' field becomes active for master data assignments but is not posted yet in produciton. Ideally if you need some time to make all the master data assignments.
    2) define functional area (under enterprise organisation / Structures ...
    3) assign functional area's to CO objects (cost centers / production order types / internal orders , ... and optionally to P&L accounts
    4) as of version 47, allow functional area as CO object when working with fixed assets (in fixed assets customizing).
    5) define reports in report painter
    that is.
    -> most of the work is thinking about and setting up the master data assignments (of the functional area). Configuration part is very little.

  • Cost of sales accounting inactive

    hello  Guru,
             My client  implementing  ECC 6.0 . we have activated the cost of sales accounting  Global Parameters. we r trying to deactive the COS , system is not allowing to deactive  throwing  error message
    When cost of sales accounting is active, the functional area characteristic is derived and saved in documents and totals records.
    Deactivating cost of sales accounting has the following consequences:
    •     No functional areas are derived for costs posted after cost of accounting has been deactivated.
    If you reactivate cost of sales accounting, these same costs remain without a functional area. It is not possible to derive functional areas for these costs at a later stage. Costs that are posted after cost of sales accounting has been reactivated have functional areas derived for them once again.
    •     The cost of sales accounting ledger, 0F, continues to be updated even after cost of sales accounting has been deactivated, but without the functional area characteristic.
    To prevent this happening, SAP recommends that you also deactivate the cost of sales accounting ledger 0F.
    Effects on Customizing
    You can define when this system message is to be issued in accordance with your requirements.
    You do this in Customizing as follows: Controlling -> Controlling: General -> Change Message Control.
    The application area and message number can be taken from the technical documentation

    Hello
    Once Cost of Sales Accounting is active the Ledger 0F will be updated
    for all costs posted with functional area.
    When you deactivate "Cost of Sale Accounting", this Ledger will still be
    updated but without functional area.
    To prevent this data inconsistency, the message is set as "Error Message",
    that is why you receive this error, and why it recommends that you
    change the message to a warning message instead of an error.
    Please check your settings in GCL2 to deactivate 0F.
    It is recommended that you then set this message back to 'Error' after
    deactivation to prevent any other ledger being deactivated by
    accident.

  • Changing account receivable in accounting tab

    Dear All,
    I would like to change GL account in the account receivable field on accounting tab of a customer business partner master data. The customer has had some transactions booked in general ledger, is it possible to replace it with other AR account ? I have actually created GL account per customer group. I use UDF and FMS so that each time when select a certain customer group, the GL account automatically filled in the field. Please help. Thanks
    Rgds,

    Once the Business Partner (BP) is posted with entries you cant change.
    But You can create another BP and you can transfer the amount by passing the journal. You should link the new BP to Old BP thru Payments Consolidation. So that only,  we can get the pending invoices at the time of Incoming/Outgoing payments.

  • Show accounting tab in CTR

    Hi experts,
    I have a requirement in which I need to display the accounting tab in CTR. By default this tab is hidden.
    I don't know if I can display it by customizing.
    I'm trying to enchance the webdynpro in order to display this tab, but no luck...
    In the component /SAPSRM/WDC_DOFC_CTR_I_D1 I can see the visible property of tab D_I_PS_GM_ACC has a binding with the attribute PS_GM_ACC_VISIBLE in the context. But this attribute is created in other enhancement point so I can't access to it within my enhancement point.
    I've tried it with the following code but there is a syntax error, (The type "element_context-ps_gm_acc_visible" is unknown,)
    DATA: lo_el_context TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_element,
              ls_context TYPE wd_this->element_context,
              lv_zz_visible_acc TYPE wd_this->element_context-ps_gm_acc_visible.
        lo_el_context = wd_context->get_element( ).
        lv_zz_visible_acc = 'X'.
        lo_el_context->set_attribute(
          name =  `PS_GM_ACC_VISIBLE`
          value = lv_zz_visible_acc ).
    I've also tried to create a new attribute in order to modify the binding but it seems that the tab is not instanciated in the tabstrib;
        DATA: lo_ui_tab_st TYPE REF TO cl_wd_tabstrip,
              lo_tab_acc   TYPE REF TO cl_wd_tab.
        lo_ui_tab_st ?= view->get_element( 'ITEM_TABSTRIP' ).
        CALL METHOD lo_ui_tab_st->get_tab
          EXPORTING
            id      = 'D_I_PS_GM_ACC'
          RECEIVING
            the_tab = lo_tab_acc.
        IF lo_tab_acc IS NOT INITIAL.
          CALL METHOD lo_tab_acc->bind_visible
            EXPORTING
              path = 'ZZ_VISUALIZACION.VISIBLE'.
        ENDIF.
    lo_tab_acc is always NULL, I've debugged the code and I can see within LO_UI_TAB_ST there is an attribute called CH_TABS that have all the tabs, but there isn't the accounting tab.
    Do you know if is possible to do it?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Ricardo.

    I can't find the solution for this...
    Do you know if I can use the view V_DO_ACCOUNT_DETAIL of component /SAPSRM/WDC_UI_DO_ACC within the component /SAPSRM/WDC_DOFC_CTR_I_D1 ?
    I've been thinking in create a new custom tab and embed that view, but I don't know how to instanciate it in main component...
    Do you know how?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    I did the below configuration in Project Management and even after Accounting Tab is invisible.
    In Project Management
    1. Activated Account Integration in the Project type and selected Flagged to Transfer
    2. Selected object type OFIN_INT_ERP_PS
    3. maintained Proxy class : CL_R3_OLR3_PROJECTDEFINATION
    4. No costing was selected
    In Project Systems
    1.  Profile CPR0001 was configured in Project Systems
    I am getting the below error.
    Any pointers what is missing/ wrong.
    Tx,
    Aneel

    Hi Aneel,
    Have you maintained the RFC destination in the proxy class?
    Normally it will be maintained as 'None', If PPM is installed in ECC as addon otherwise correct RFC destination of PPM is to be maintained.
