Could my iCloud account and my MacBook Pro have a virus?

got a strange call from someone who claimed to be tech support and said that they had been receiving activity from my iCloud account and had been infected with a virus that I needed to look for this file csrss.exe. Now I now that this is an essential operating file on the Windows system and I didn't disclose this or any account/ personal info to the caller but the doubt is there. This is my first Mac so I could use some help advice.

That's a scam. Ignore it. Or, if the guy calls back, play with him a bit... pretend to be cooperative, but play dumb and keep him on the line and frustrated for as long as you can!

help, how do I set up an icloud account on my macbook pro with 10.6.8 — all it has is "mobile me" under internet and wireless on my system doc????

You should check that your Mac meets the requirements for upgrading.
    The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
To purchase it you will have to ring Apple at the number given at the bottom left of this page.
The requirements for Mountain Lion are listed here:
    http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
It is available from the Mac App Store (in Applications).
You should be aware that PPC programs (such as AppleWorks) will not run on Lion or above; and some other applications may not be compatible - there is a useful compatibility checklist at http://roaringapps.com/apps:table

  • How do I delete my icloud account on my MacBook Pro

How do I delete my icloud account on my MacBook Pro?

Just go to SysPrefs>iCloud and Sign Out, but just make sure that you select to keep your Contacts, etc. on your Mac when given the option if you have been using iCloud for anything like Contacts, Calendar, etc.

  • Does my MacBook Pro have a virus?

My mac's been acting very strange the past two days, it freezes up all of a sudden and sometimes an ad will pop up and it wont let me close it. What's a good/safe & reliable way to check if I have a virus on my laptop or not?

now i get a constant error about the disk
What kind of error is this? If it's a message saying that there's not enough free space, that's your problem. If your system drive gets too full, it will start having performance problems and can even start experiencing serious problems like crashes and data loss. The general rule of thumb is that you need around 10% of the drive free.
Do not try to clear space by using a "cleaning" tool, clearing caches, deleting language files or pre-installed applications, etc. Those are small-scale and/or temporary fixes that could have unanticipated side effects, including damage to your system. You need to delete personal files, either outright (if they are no longer needed) or after moving them to an external hard drive. One possibility would be to clear out your Downloads folder, if there's a lot of stuff in there.
If you have a lot of large files that you need and can't conveniently put any of them on an external drive, you can upgrade the hard drive to a larger one.
If the error message isn't one about free space, please give us the exact message so we can better assist you.

  • I seem to have at least two, and maybe four, iCloud accounts, across my iPhone, my iPad and my MacBook Pro. Can I combine them into one iCloud account?

I seem to have at least two, and maybe four, iCloud accounts, across my iPhone, my iPad and my MacBook Pro. Can I combine them into one iCloud account? I have been able to log into what appears to be three of the four iCloud accounts I have. Two of them seem to be remarkably similar, and one appears to be only for my MacBook.I think I know which one my iPhone is backing up to, as I successfully restored from a back-up last week. The fourth iCloud account I can't access via password or security questions. Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

    You cannot merge accounts.

    Ok.
Open System Preferences, Apple Logo icon in the menu bar and then System Preferences or the Sys Pref iocon in the Dock and go to the Internet Accounts area and look at your iCloud account. It should list what is and isn't synced by a checkmark next to each item.
Also in the Contacts app click on Contacts in the menu bar and select Preferences then accounts and make sure your iCloud account is listed. You can also do that from the Internet Accounts area in System Preferences.

I lost my iphone and my macbook pro does not show the icloud in system pref. how do i get icloud on my mac?

iCloud is only available in Lion, 10.7. You will have to upgrade to Lion in order to get into iCloud. If you transfered a .mac or .me address to iCloud through mobile me, or you have another device iCloud enabled, then you can log into the iCloud.com website.

  • How do I set up two separate iTunes accounts on one MacBook Pro in order to manage the wife's iPhone and my iPhone? Can this be done?

How do I set up two separate iTunes accounts on one MacBook Pro in order to manage the wife's iPhone and my iPhone (with separate info on each of course) ? Can this be done? A little step by step would be greatly appreciated; just short step by step though, I can follow fairly well.
    Kindest Regards,
    Phil T.

You would each need to use your own user account on the Mac, you can do this at system preferences > users & groups.

  • I have a MacBook Pro, iPhone 4S and iPad 2.  I have two iTunes accounts.  I would like to consolidate the accounts into one.  Also, I changed the iTunes ID on one of the accounts using iTunes on my MacBook Pro - have an issue will ask via separate questi.

Also, I changed my ID on one of the iTunes accounts on my MacBook Pro.  However, when I go to download music or apps on my iPhone, the old account ID keeps popping up and i don't know how to get that to update the account ID- even after synching the phone and laptop.

i had one for a long time, then when i got the ipad i didn't realize they would all still work under one so i set up the second one on that
then when i got the new iphone i put in the info for the first and main one from my mac pro and it would not work at all, and i knew it was right, then it asked me to create a new one or i couldnt finish the setup
hence why i have 3 now
hard to believe you cannot combine into one
oh well, i will just make them all accessible for all 3
    thanks

  • I have two email accounts on my MacBook Pro and iPhone.  My iPhone continues to send messages from either account that I choose.  My MacBook says that one of my email account outgoing mail servers is Offline?  How can I get that working again?

I have two email accounts on my MacBook Pro and iPhone that I have been using for a few years.  My phone works perfectly for both accounts.  Now one of my email accounts on the MacBook says the outgoing server is Offline?  How can I fix that so that both accounts send and receive email.  I have tried various things in settings but nothing seems to work.

    Hi Rochdr,
You can use the following article to help you address this issue with your mail account in OS X:

  • My iPhone and iPad are on my moms icloud account and i just got a macbook air and i want all my devices on my own iCloud account - i went to all of my settings and it won't let me change my iCloud account on my phone and iPad. can i change this?

My iPhone and iPad are on my moms icloud account and i just got a macbook air and i want all my devices on my own iCloud account - i went to all of my settings and it won't let me change my iCloud account on my phone and iPad. can i change this?

You will have to do more than simply changing settings in your moms account. To set up everything in your own account, go to Settings > iCloud > scroll down and press sign out. From this, check out this link for how to setup iCloud on all of your devices after making a new icloud account on your phone: https://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/
Before you set that up, you will have to make a new iCould account which you can simply do after you sign out of your mom's account on your devices.
    Hope I can help!

I recently installed a new hard drive in a MacBook 2007 and then 10.6.3. I'd like to be able to Sync iCal to the calendars I have created on other devices (new iCloud account and an ME account). I can't upgrade to 10.7 or 10.8 because the MacBook is 32 bit. Just looking for a workaround as this is not a primary device.

You should update to the latest version of Snow Leopard, 10.6.8 - you can download it here; however it's still not compatible with iCloud and though you can connect to access your email you cannot access any other of iCloud's facilities.
However some people have been able to set up calendar syncing by using the method detailed here - this is an unsupported hack and may not be reliable, and may stop working at some future point. I've not tried it: use at your own discretion.
    To access the email:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard
Are you sure you can't upgrade to Lion? It requires an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, which you may well have, though it also needs 2GB RAM so you might need to add additional RAM (might not be worth it for what you want). The published specs don't mention 32 or 64 bit. You can buy Lion by ringing the Apple Store at the number at bottom left of this page.

  • Have HP 4580 all in one and it worked excellent before Lion.  Could print using Windows on desktop and using Macbook Pro.

Before upgrading to Lion on my MacBook Pro I could print on the HP C4580 All in One using HP Desktop with Windows 7 and using MacBook Pro with no problems.  I upgraded to Lion now can only print when I shut down and restart my MacBook.  If using the desktop or the Microsoft Office on my MacBook it kicks the printer offline and I have to restart my laptop.  I called Apple and they said they did not support 3rd party software.  I had previously purchased the printer through Apple with a desktop.  I installed the new driver from HP and removed it, reinstalled.  Guess what, same problem.  Can anyone tell me how to make lion work.  Apple will not provide help.  Have a iPad and with a small app for $7.00 it prints great.  HELP

You must work for Apple.  Contacted the vendor downloaded their app.  Everytime I open Microsoft Office for Mac it kicks printer off line and if I print from a Windows computer (which printer works perfect) it kicks printer off line.  If I restart Mac it will print the item in the printer.  Don't care what Apple says, prior to loading Lion never had any problems.  Sounds as if Apple programers goofed up and just don't want to admit it and correct their problem. Your comments did not solve any problems, asking for help not Apple support.

    Hello mikebundy,
Let's double check to make sure everything is setup correctly, please see the following resource:
iCloud: Use Documents in the Cloud with OS X v10.8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12514
To use Documents in the Cloud with your Mac apps, Documents & Data must be turned on in iCloud preferences.
Turn on Documents in the Cloud
    - Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click iCloud.
    - If you are not already signed in, sign in with the Apple ID you use with iCloud.
    - Turn on Documents & Data.
